14:34 No, cultures live separately because they don’t initially get along, they are too different to do so. A prime example of this was the West End Boston. There were so many people of so many different cultures living there that the crime was so high and the solution the city came up with at the end of the 1950’s and into the early 1960’s was to tear the whole section of the city down and build it up again into something new. So, the first generations of immigrants into the US staying amongst themselves is actually a good thing, it’s because they’re too different to get along. Only the later, more Americanized generations can intermingle with far less problems. Same thing was true when the colonists were trying to live among the Indians, too many cultural differences lead to many, many, MANY conflicts, and they were initiated on both sides.

Size is the big thing people even in the states do not understand. I constantly hear we need a bullet train or public transit. If I take the city bus across town it's at least a 2 hour trip and that assumes there is a single bus, no transfers and good luck with that.

I was born and raised on the east coast of Canada, lived in Vancouver and visited Montréal Edmonton, Calgary with the acception of Winnipeg I’ve seen every major city in Canada. \n\nI will always have pride for my country and love for my family there but it has changed dramatically since 2010.\n \nI will say the transportation in Canadian cities are better and so is the crime and the food but you have to drive a minimum of an hour to get anywhere outside the city, your not leaving that city without a car and good luck surviving without a car outside the city, and VIA rail is way overpriced. The GO train is nice though.\n\nLiving in America it has changed a lot since covid too though people are a lot more desperate and you can feel it but people are too prideful to admit, where in Canada people are struggling and they dress and look terrible and fail to dress nice because there is less prideful.\n\nCanadians are not nice people they are passive aggressive and will not got out of their way to help you most of the time (modern day) kind of like Californians.\nThe east coast Americans are rude and trashy but they will help you if you show respect. There just no fun to be around mostly ? overall North Americans are chauvinistic.\n\nJobs are harder to get in Canada and opportunity isn’t there, but it is very relaxed.\nAmerica is overcrowded and stressful especially for a Canadian.\nMontréal is cheap rent great food, and being personally bilingual I like the French, but there infrastructure is terrible and the people are depressed and disgustingly rude and they have no customer service.\n\nVancouver is overpriced in every way possible, beautiful city, great seafood but it’s not worth the price tag, you would be better of living in a San Francisco, the crime in Richmond and burnaby and new Westminster and hasting street is just as bad as San Francisco’s tenderloin.\n\nToronto is big and fun yet it doesn’t feel Canada at all, it feels like it’s been hijacked by American and foreign companies. It’s beautiful but lots of rats and bad traffic. People are relatively nicer there but it’s still expensive like New York.\nCalgary is very pretty probably my favorite, it’s just cold AF and kinda pricey. Probably perfect for families.\nEdmonton is flat and boring but I like it’s proximity to Calgary ?\nOverall it’s one of the best countries to live in the west but if you like fast paced, opportunity, diversity, traveling and are rich enough for elite education then come to America. Lastly Canada is a democracy so bills can be passed faster but that can also be a bad thing if you have a courrupt gov’t, cough cough trudeau.\nAmerica is a republic so it is harder to pass laws which can suck but it is also harder for people like uncle joe to overreach. Overall in America you are more free but in Canada you are more at peace. \n\nI’ve lived in America for six years and moved here at 20yrs so this is just my experience.

I lived in Edmonton for three years and your mass transit is quite good. But the further you get away from city centers it thins out. Here in the ?US we need to work our mass transit. As I type this you meant self segregation. I think it happens around the globe. People want to live around people like them. There are exceptions though.\n\nI lived and worked downtown and the one thing that surprised me was the fact no one really talked to each other. Walking to work folks were wearing blinders and kept to themselves. Being from the South we say good morning, morning, hi, how ya' doing or something similar to people we run into. I asked a coworker and he said the only people that talked to you were the homeless. To which I replied, you have to be down on your luck to address passerby's? That was crazy to te!

You didn't bring up the paper money American money gets wet and is ruined. Other countries money is all in plastic. The funny thing is people in Melbourne are like Americans They live and breathe in their own suburbs and don't know how to get anywhere else. Canada taxes n healthcare is ?️! It's cold AF up there 10months out the year. Despite the shit people say, there's DEF racism up there. Only thing I like about parts of Canada are the mixed, beautiful women. O, and it's way cleaner!! Oh the tap water thing, agree 100%. I moved to Canada a decade ago, started to learn about the tap water, then assumed the US got the same if not better, then I travelled to Miami, Fort Lauderdale, omg, the water is yellow, went back to Canada and felt eternally grateful.\nPublic transportation in Canada is much better, for example, buses accommodate people with wheelchairs very well and drivers are very patient and actually got off their seats to help people to get on, get off. I went to New York, omg, subways stink with urine, buses don’t even have any place for people in wheelchairs, impossible to get in, maybe some of them have but I didn’t see them. All buses in Canada have ram for wheelchairs, strollers, etc.

Also agree with warm southern hospitality in the US, lived in TN, SC, GA and the people were so warm. \nThe thing about Canadian politics being boring might not be such a bad thing LOL. Person living in South Korea here ??‍♀️and contemplating between moving to either USA or Canada! So this was interesting! I tested the waters and traveled to the USA last year! They both made good points, food isn’t that great but the people are so sweet and inviting. I was scared because of what I usually see on the news but I didn’t experience any of the horrible things I read, but then again I was very cautious.

Every country has good and bad spots to live in. When it comes to baseline things like government laws and such I can't live anywhere besides the US. Just won't part with freedom of speech and my 2nd amendment. It's not a perfect country by far, but I'm glad the corruption is coming out in the open. Might finally make it possible to fix some things. In my general opinion people do better in different places and nowhere is perfect. \n\nKind of a nothing comment but hope it helps your algorithm.

SO true about the tap water, lol! I've lived in 3 Texas cities, LA, SF, Oklahoma and Ohio, but the ONLY place of those that had even remotely decent water was SF (and IN the city... the surrounding areas still sucked). Then I moved to Edmonton and lived in 5 different buildings and the water was great everywhere. My fellow Edmontonians beg to differ, but they don't' know what they got. But then I moved to the country and my well water is horrific. :( So we fill up jugs of water at my kid's place in the city haha!\n\nLegit, the best thing about moving up here though is the healthcare. One thing people don't think about is not only do you save on your actual doctor visits, but you save month to month as well. YES, you pay for it with your taxes, but I've found that my taxes here are almost exactly break-even with mine in California, and now I don't have to pay out of pocket for my insurance in addition. Not to mention for the same taxes overall things like roads, registries (dmv), and pretty much everything else the government does is more efficient and better. \n\nMain thing I miss from the US day-to-day is 1: food. Outside of Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver, you don't get much good variety. 2: good speeds and affordable f'ing internet. Canadian internet is EXPENSIVE as FACK and not overly fast compared to pretty much every other first world nation.

I am an American born in NY, raised in VA. I also lived in Van Nuys for a year, also lived in Texas before my job industry moved me to Canada. \ni have been in Canada for 7yrs, been to Vancouver, Toronto and MTL and to be honest i like a lot of things in Canada like the health care differences and of course the lower insulin cost for my husband but i still want to go back home. If anything i would stay in Toronto because it's the closest similarity to home but where Aba and Preach live, in Montreal, it's literally been my nightmare. I feel like the tap water at least in my area has gotten worse over time. \nOne thing i feel like they didn't mention that I have to tell people from America to watch out for is the credit card vs debit card thing. \nI grew up only having debit cards because i didn't want to get into debt. when i came to Canada i continued getting a debit card and realized the hard way that not everything accepts debit cards and you NEED to also have a credit card to access certain things.\nbut overall i do feel much safer in Canada even though the crazy trump lovers are showing up here and there it's significantly less than i see when I'm back home.

Full time and part time employees are entitled to 4 weeks vacation here in Australia, I don’t know anyone who only gets 4 tho, most get 5 to 6. Also, theres Medicare for all permanent residents and citizens; 18 weeks maternity leave— 3 months paid. There are 12 public holidays and just Far Less Crime. When people ask me if I miss “home”… I share that I miss good and easy access to stuff… but friends can visit me here, and I’ll pay extra for the things I enjoy to be mailed. The only major thing is as a black girl getting my hair done… lordddd ?. \n\nI’ve lived in Cambodia, Thailand, Spain and Gibraltar traveling solo. The more I traveled safer I felt despite never feeling too unsafe in the states when I lived there, I did when I traveled across country at times. It took me some time to feel into this new level of “ahhhhh this is what safety feels like!! Mom, come feel this! U can go for a walk at 2am!”\n\nWould never move back, but I’m grateful my roots are from there.

I live by lake Michigan about 40 minutes North of Chicago and 40 minutes South of Milwaukee with every type of social biome around me in between as well as airports and I didn't realize how different it made me from people who live hours or more from a different type of demographic or city until I started going to Summer Camp back in the day and talking to people who hadn't left their hometown, ever because they don't have easy access to airports, translations and if their going to pay extensive money for a family trip it's probably to go hunting or go to the one resort thing their state is known for. I've been to several other states between the East and West Coast and it's interesting to see how much of a mixing pot we are of stuff and I do wish travel was more prevalent between everything for the sake of letting people see the rest of the country.

I live in Montreal the healthcare system is a disaster can’t even walk into a walk in clinic here everything is by appointment or you have to go to emergency and wait 20 hours , French people generally hate English speakers , the weather is terrible super cold in winter and super hot and humid in summer. The English elementary and high schools are very underfunded a lot don’t even have playgrounds and teachers are overwhelmed with lack of resources .Only good thing is that rent is cheap so you can relax pretty much even with a lower salary only reason why I live here and food is pretty good . Also you don’t need a car in Montreal it’s very easy to go around by metro everywhere you go .

My family moved to a suburb of Atlanta 15 years ago from LaSalle, QC. I am happy to be away from the language politics and snow, but the living areas here are so segregated. They call the US a melting pot, but from my perspective the individual parts aren't blending together. I was so used to seeing Italian, African, Irish, Indian, Caribbean, Native, Asian, Middle Eastern, you name it peoples everyday at work, shopping and at the gym. Based on where I live, I really only see African Americans. The funny thing is, if I travel just a few miles in a specific direction, the demographics change dramatically.

That southern hospitality is amazing in the southeast! People in the states make fun of the south a lot but one thing we’re good at is manners!

Los Ángeles is a weird place. People are segregated when it come to low income communities. The reason Los Angeles and Los Angeles county are like this is due to the gangs. In Los Angeles county, there are a lot of divisions of cities. City within a city. Each city has a main gang. For example, my city of La Puente. The main gang is La Puente 13. Within The city of La Puente there are subunits of gangs according to the different streets around the city. There are like 7 to 8 different gangs within La Puente. The neighboring cities are like this to, so things can get pretty violent. This is why Los Angeles is very segregated. In low income communities people just stay with their own people. \n\n Things are different in College towns and upper middle class communities are a lot more diverse. That is what you see in the movies.

The tap water thing is so true. Visited Brazil and people have direct access to WATER SPRINGS. Never have tasted water more refreshing and as good as water directly from a spring\n\nThe tap water in Brazil is great (depends on the place tbh)

Having only traveled to the states and visit. One thing that I have noticed is the general sense of stress every one is in. Here in the North I don't find people being so aggressive over small things. In the US it feels like your about to set some one off. Also for real tap water is legit up here.

I moved from the U.S. to Canada. Some observations:\n1. It's unbelievably safe in Canada. The most dangerous places in Canada are still very safe compared to much of the U.S.\n2. Outside of DC and New York and I guess Chicago and L.A. in the U.S. and Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver in Canada, you need a car. I disagree that city planning is that much better in Canada.\n3. The maternity leave in Canada is great \n4. The unemployment insurance in Canada is great too\n5. I prefer the Canadian health care system. I never experienced any long wait times. My wife had literal brain surgery and it was free whereas it would've been hundreds of thousands of dollars in the U.S.\n6. Canada is further to the left and is much more woke than the U.S. Everything here is about equity, diversity and inclusion. Even many Canadian conservatives would be moderates in the U.S. but most people know this already.\n7. There is a better work life balance in Canada. I worked a lot more when living in the U.S.\n8. Most Canadians live by the U.S. border  so the weather is not that different than most northern American states. But once you go to northern Canada, it is as cold as they say it is.\n9. The U.S. is better for making money.\n10. It is much more racially segregated in the U.S. \n11. Outside cities like Montreal and Toronto, Canada is very white.\n12. Things are much more spread out in Canada. When I lived in the U.S. driving for 1 hour to go somewhere was a long drive. In Canada, that is normal.\n13. Canada is pretty great if you like the outdoors. There's only 36 million people here and outside the major cities, you find small towns and the wilderness. \n14. Canadians are quite friendly. I know my neighbors in the country. I never knew my neighbors in the U.S.\n15. Canadian politics is boring and I like this. However, in the rural areas, it seems that people really hate Justin Trudeau.\n16. Since Canada is so similar to the U.S. it is very easy to adjust to life here.\n17. Outside of Quebec, you really don't need to speak French. \n18. The nationalism of the Quebecois is very surprising. There is no group in the U.S. this nationalistic.

Aba nailed the point about LA being racially segregated. Absolutely correct. One thing the US has over Canada is the 2a. That’s proving to be more important than people want to give credit for.

Like you said in the beginning of the video, the US really is like 50 different countries. Your experiences are so vastly different depending on where you are. Obviously there’s rude people everywhere, but I live in the Northeast, and people are especially douchy in this part of the country. Like, you gotta be on high alert because things can go from 0 to 100 real quick. One minute you’re at a stop light, the next you got someone following you into a parking lot threatening you because they had a rough day at work. However, when I’ve been to the South, I’ve met some of the most relaxed and kind people you’d ever meet.

This was a really cool episode. I'm a born and raised Canadian, but my friends and my fiancé are all from the USA, so I've got a firsthand look at the differences in our cultures and countries.\n\nOne thing I'll say right off the bat, I think a big part of what makes Canada work the way it does, is that we have such a small population compared to the USA.\n\nCanada only has around 35 million people, but there are some states in the USA that have over 40 Million people on their own. \n\nWhen you have that many people crammed together in one location, all fighting for jobs and housing and food and everything, it makes sense why you might have a culture that's a lot louder and self serving, because you have to compete with millions of people if you really want to make something of yourself.\n\nMy hometown of Edmonton Alberta, for example, we had a population of just 500,000. And I think the laid back attitude that a lot of people have in Canada is a product of that. \n\nThat's a big reason our crime levels would appear lower as well, because there's just a lot less of us.

Some things that suck about Canada: Slow wealth gain, less opportunity, lower salaries, high taxes, marked up prices, sub-par healthcare, insane real estate prices, lame/boring events. Some good things about Canada: Very safe, clean, nice/friendly people, beautiful wilderness, decent infrastructure/transportation.

I would like to add why the groups are kinda in there own city’s in LA. At least for Asian. It was just easier to do that cause we can go to the few people that know how to do everything and help everyone. Like paper work, Finding jobs and things like that.

The unfortunate thing is, a lot of people can't talk about simple truths. And if you try to, you will be called a racist, because facts and statistics are racist apparently. But if you look at the crime statistics database, something like 90% of violent crime is committed by black and Hispanic men between the age of 18 to 45. If you removed that demographic from America, America would be like some future Utopian world where all we knew was peace. So those demographics need to be allowed to be talked about if we want to be able to find solutions and solve those problems. And no, giving reparations would never solve stop those crimes. It's a cultural things that's kept around by bad parenting, poor education, and their surroundings. Sweden is a perfect example where they had nearly 0 crime until they started letting in black refugees from all over. Grape, robbery, and assaults all went up by not 20, 30, 40, 50%. Not even 100%. Those crimes went up by like 400% or more. Women who had lived there their whole lives now had to walk the streets in fear. White men had to now be worried about getting assaulted or stabbed by immigrants who were hitting on his girlfriend in clubs. Or watch what he said back to a refugee who mouthed off to him trying to start shit. They are completely disrespectful and unappreciative of being allowed to live there and be given government assistance. This is how people become prejudice. They SEE how other cultures act and treat them, and they don't want anything to do with them because they simply fear for our safety.

I went to Sweden the past November and it really opened my eyes to what people say about the States. The tap water was amazing, the air was clean, the food was amazing AND healthy. It blew my mind!\n\nAlso the clothing brands are dope!! The quality is phenomenal and the prices are reasonable. I bought my wife a bag for $70 but the quality was better than most name brands. I was taken aback. \n\nThere are other things but that’s just my initial shock about the differences.

America is good for money. It is a capitalist society and everything runs on money- the people, the food, parking, breathing lol. But it doesn’t always provide a great life balance to the point where people don’t prioritize their health and wellness because they simply can’t afford to. Like literally. Without money you will die in a health institute here because they will not treat you without money. You can buy any and everything here- it’s all for sale. Personally I’m a wrench and I don’t subscribe to American society. I was born and raised here and it always felt wrong the way things work here, the way people are. Every state has its own thing, there are regions that adopt similar qualities, but generally speaking the USA is multiple States who have a union... but our educational system has spend decades brainwashing people into thinking that its all one big thing, and the Federal government controls all of it, like an empire.

You do not come here and act like you do in your country you came from it's not the same thing. It's stereotypical and it's expected and should be expected if people coming to a country not respecting that country's values. Nobody wants people going to their country acting like they do in the country they came from. And if the Immigrant can't get used to how things work here than they don't belong in the country they need to go to the country that is a home for them. Canada isn't the Wonderland of all Races where everybody gets to still act like they're in their birth country in Canada when it's not.

I have said some negative things and felt some negative things about Indians and I'm big enough to admit that, because at the same time I couldn't help but to get amused by scambaiting. Therein and from a apparent stoking of hatred and animosity these days I've been seeking to better understand the true sentiments and circumstances of Indians, and where the so called bad bed side manner comes from. I say this because a lot of people I've spoken too find Indians rude, and I can see why, if I were exploited, how would I feel. We are all human and I hate to see peoples dreams and or weakness exploited.

I’ve worked with many different people in -30 outdoors and they were there on the job site because they deserved to be there. They were outside and -30. They didn’t complain or quit. They worked! This is why Canada wants all the immigrants to come work here so they can drain all their income in taxes to pay for all the old people draining the system. They need workers at low paying jobs to work double hrs. paying double taxes to pay for senior's health care etc. They are also consumers who will have to spend what's left of their pay cheques to just feed and clothe themselves. Leaving so little left to actually do anything with. As a 5th generation Canadian I have struggled all my life to just keep food and home to live and raise my kids on very little. Now due to what has happened in Canada and the economy, inflation, skyrocketing housing prices, my kids will never be able to own a home in their own country. It's sickening. Canada is cold. Canada is not fun. Least fun because of all the rules on everything. Taxes and fees on everything. There used to be much more fun and things were much more relaxed in the 70's and 80's but now it has changed so much that I'm starting to hate my own Country, my province and the Canadian leadership at this time is the worst in history. And get this: I'm so poor I couldn't even afford to move around or travel in my own damned country! We don't even have a universal transit bus system to travel anymore. YOu have to have a car or fly but be damned if you can hop the old Greyhound and go from Vancouver to Toronto anymore and save a few bucks. It's sick and dysfunctional here.

Whilst I agree with some things you mentioned, let me know where it's better than Canada. I lived in the US and it was no better at all. It was work work work with no life and not much family time. Only very rich people in both Canada and USA don't pay much taxes because of the loopholes. The CRA and IRS mostly go after people who are struggling to put food on the table. \n\nI had a major operation that cost over $350 000,00 in Canada. I don't even know what I would have done if I was in the US with shortfalls, many people go bankrupt due to medical expenses. I am grateful I didn't pay anything. The health issues you mentioned are everywhere due to covid that has ravaged systems in most countries. It is very easy when you are healthy and not faced with a hefty medical bill to say negative stuff. When you are desperate like I was then you count your blessings. \n\nTalk of racism and discrimination, it is everywhere. Africa where I originate from or many developing countries, the corruption to get simple things done is pathetic. \n\nI wish you goodluck in your search for paradise here on earth. I believe in decriminalizing drugs, but giving them drugs is not a good thing. It's been a disaster in US cities like San Francisco. Tax payers shouldn't pay for people's drugs. Just because a bank has all white leadership doesn't mean they are racist. They worked their way up to those positions, you're not entitled to a leadership position because you're a racial minority.
