Trump acts like we make SOOOOO much here in the US that we can function alone. FALSE! We make damn near NOTHING here. We rely too heavily on other countries in every aspect of our lives; food, clothing/footwear, shelter/building construction material, automotive even down to hygiene products . When it comes to polls, most of the people that have the time to fill out polls (at least in the US) are the old and the unemployed. And here in the States, the old tend to be conservative. \n\nAnd regarding law enforcement, Trump is definitely UNPOPULAR with the DC police department, among others. I dont think Trump can count on them to hunt down illegals.

As a Mexican American woman and was born and raised here in the US, her accent tells me she’ll be deported too. Trump said he would deport people that legalized here too, I guarantee she was not born here.

It feels so foolish to keep trying bandaid solutions that harm the US labor pool. There's a couple of things I keep thinking about in regards to this. \n\n1. Most developed countries on earth are in the midst of or are preparing to deal with population crisis and depopulation. Strong immigration to the US stems this issue and is actually a huge advantage to the power and continuing visibility of the USA.\n\n2. Deportation and border control strike at the effect of immigration and leave the cause unharmed. People come to the USA because there's opportunities here, so why not make opportunities abroad?\n\nIf the USA were to remove benefits of dealing with china while offering massive incentives for moving manufacturing away from china directly to Latin America, not only would we be countering our Chinese dependency but we would also provide jobs at home and stem immigration. Not only that, but the businesses would be American and be controlled by Americans - a huge incentive to stay friendly to the USA.\n\nI don't know, just seems like our current policy and especially what Trump is suggesting are counter productive and stuck in a bygone way of thinking.

Small correction - After more votes have been counted it looks like Trump will not win a majority of the popular vote, it is down to 50.00% with still more votes to be added, and you should wait until all votes have finished being counted before stating that he won a majority of the popular vote.\n\n\nAlso I hope the other commenters realise that almost all people crossing the southern boarder are legal migrants claiming asylum legally. Anyone walking up to the US and claiming asylum legally must have their case judged and are legally allowed to remain in the US whilst that happens.

There is a very big problem with trump's xenophobic screed to create fear and hate of immigrants. Most people entering the US illegally have not even been from Central or South America (if they are from Mexico they don't even get let in). Its curious how Liberal media mentions not that Joe Biden tied $60 billion in aid to Ukraine to his border bill. And money going to other countries that brought the US money being sent abroad to $116 billion. It a two things in the same bill combo which gave d Trump the means of persuading Republicans to block it.

The figure the presenter quoted at 5.50minutes, deporting 1 million could cost 20 billion dollars. That works out at 20,000 US$ each. It would be easier to offer them 10,000US$ each to go. 90% would go and you would avoid untold problems. Also it would be cheaper. I don't suppose this will happen because Trumps intent is to be anti immigrant, rather than ant immigration.

Despite his rhetoric Trump cannot legally mass deport. In fact immigration judges not the President have the final say on who can and cannot be deported as immigration related cases must go through the courts per the US Constitution.

Every major US city is struggling to budget for illegal immigrants. This is why trump has done so well in cities, poorer Americans find themselves in direct competition with illegal immigrants for government resources. If you looked at figures like the number of encounters at the southern border and the amount spent on illegal immigrants this would make it obvious why Americans are upset. Instead you just paint poor Americans as xenophobic and don't even give that view a fair representation. Classic elitist bias.
