Which is to limit the number of people entering america\n\nThat country is constantly, perpetually, drowning in immigrants, they have more than they can ever handle, and it is not a solution to world poverty.\nThe message is clear. Hmm I wonder why difficult technical jobs are relatively low paying in Canada. Oh right because you're in competition with the entire world, not just other Canadian citizens born and raised in Canada. Canada is effective subsidized the whole world and artificially lowering their own employment standards. As sad as it sounds, there will always be someone talented from a developing nation willing to do your very difficult job which you studied years to be able to do, for barely above the cost of living, because this is still better than their career and life trajectory in their own nation. How many big tech firms in the US have fired thousands of US employees in austerity moves, only then to apply for H1B visa a week later. Why educate, train, employ, and pay fairly American workers, when you can find an immigrant willing to do it for half the price. I'm pro immigration and even pro high special immigration, but the cutoff for H1B visa salaries should be 50% higher than prevailing wages in similar roles. If this position is so specialized and in demand that there simply aren't enough native populations available to do it and schools simply aren't training it, then supply and demand homie, go pay for it. Oil, gas, and petroleum engineering is a great example of this - the US barely teaches this anymore despite there being demand, so we have to hire foreign nationals. Engineering and medicine are examples of oligarchs finding ways to extract the most capital by exploiting people as much as possible. Why pay a reasonable wage for really difficult jobs, when you can find a foreigner willing to do it for barely enough to cover groceries and rent.

So sad.. 1 world gov, we could all be those people 1 day. I know it’s not a case of just opening borders but it’s still sad asf we allow any gov to treat us like this collectively, regardless if you’re safe for now.

canada is a shit hole (born and raised here) yesterday there was a job fair at a grocery store and the line of people applying was over a km - for the lowest level position possible. rent in a town no one in the world has ever heard of is more than N.Y.C or Tokyo. we have thousands of homeless immigrants sleeping outside in camps in toronto as they have no where to go and everywhere you go in this country someone is dying from the opioid epidemic, crime has gone up 50% in many cities. no one will ever buy a house and the people born here cant/wont have kids because its to expensive. the Canadian population is dying out bc out government is trash and instead of helping us they bring in more immigrants who will take the shit housing with 14 adults in 1 room and wont call the labour board when they are exploited. that is why Canada accepts so many immigrants bc they are exploitable - very easy to see when you live here its disgusting.

No your education system is not good. You have a few good universities but your k through 12 is rated as one of the worst of the 1st world countries on the world wide education scale. In other Country, people rushing their borders would be shot. United States failures to enforce legal immigration laws and now here we are, the world has decided we owe it to them to live here. Canada’s secret weapon will backfire. Our healthcare and infrastructure are not ready for record high immigration. Housing is beyond hopeless, with insane prices and record low construction in the pipeline. Only the wealthy immigrants will settle here fine. Most will struggle to pay rent and expensive tuitions for the chance to land a good paying job. Canada has very few companies that are world class or highly competitive on the international level. Our industries can’t seem to provide the best opportunity or make best use of their talents . The best people still go to the states first chance they get

Not having our own Silicon Valley isn't necessarily a bad thing. Silicon Valley has unfortunately grown its own culture bubble with some really bad traits. One example is the fake-it-till-you-make-it that spawns the likes of Theranos and Nikola. Another is dedicating resources to solving increasingly insignificant first world problems. If you see a startup and find yourself wondering just who on Earth actually needs the product or service it is offering, the answer is people in Silicon Valley with high six figure salaries.

You may have Disney Land (and World) but I live in the original Disney Land which is Huron County, Ontario, Canada as Walt and Roy's dad and grandfather were originally from Bluevale, now Morris-Turnberry Township here in Huron County. I support the current US immigration system but that’s because I’m against immigration and letting half the world in. Canada can have them and all the awful consequences that have occurred in their country since. Not talking about the individual people btw, more cost of living is much higher and wages are lower and much more stagnant and how Canada went from a really decent place to worse than the US in basically everything.\n\nImmigrants are ok…in limit. Americans shouldn’t be ok with letting in half the worlds just because of some concept like multiculturalism and diversity that are actually very classist to the average Canadian and American and screw over most already present minorities. The US should NOT be like Canada at all on this.

I've heard people say it is much harder to immigrate to Canada than the USA. And the USA takes in the most immigrants in the world.

I have mixed feelings about this video. This video does a good job outlining the immigration process but it does not highlight any of the negative consequences of immigration that Canada is experiencing. One of the main reasons why cost of living is so high in Toronto and Vancouver is precisely because we have so many immigrants coming in without enough housing supply. This is by design because politicians and the upper class have a vested interest in keeping real estate prices high because so much of their net worth is tied up in the housing market.\n\nAnother negative is that employers hire immigrants working low skilled jobs and pay them less than Canadians because the immigrants are willing to be taken advantage of since they're just happy to have a job in Canada which pays better than their country. \n\nAnother myth that gets repeated is that Canadian takes immigrants out of compassion and unfortunately a lot of Canadians believe this. It was never about compassion, it's about bringing more people to 1) pay taxes to support our social welfare as Canadian birth rates decline and boomers retire, 2) keep housing costs high and 3) pay immigrants lower wages for the same work because immigrants are fine being exploited since they have a job in a first world country.\n\nAnother problem is the cultural shift. In the most immigrant-dense regions you'll find that many immigrants themselves surprisingly don't want more immigrants coming to Canada because they see these negative consequences. The people who are most pro-immigration have no problem cramming 8+ people in a basement and exploiting their labour because they make enough money to live in communities that immigrants can't afford, and so they don't have to deal with the cultural shift that's taking place. This is NOT the fault of immigrants, but rather the politicians who put economic growth over quality of life. Over HALF the people in the GTA weren't born in Canada, so they didn't go through our school system and have no connection to our culture. Canada is unfortunately going to become very racist over the next 10-20 years as Canadians start feeling like outsiders in their own country. It's somehow considered racists to criticize the effect of multiculturalism on social unity, yet the cultures we accept in Canada only became distinct cultures because of monoculturalism.

All I can say as a Canadian is why would anyone want to move to the USA.The more I learn the more I love where I live the USA is a hot mess and watching the kind of people that you elect is mind boggling . Why would anyone support a bottom feeder like Donald Trump to run their country. You don't have to be a scholar to realize this man is beyond corrupt and a really bad person. Who in the world other than a 12 year old, makes up names for people and whine all the time just watching this man perform is an eye opener and as a Canadian I'm embarrassed for Americans. As a first gen Chinese American, and to be fair to the US, please remember (1) US has a border with Mexico, which means illegal immigration is so much bigger than legal ones that it sucks up much of the government immigration resources. (2l when the US population is as small as Canada's today, US was not only letting in people from all over the world but also giving them free land (google the homestead acts).

Two things to note here with this analysis.\n1. More immigrant populations have low trust communities.\nLess homogeneous communities with a Ukrainian immigrant here and a Indian immigrant there don’t tend to trust each other.\nNot because of any animosity but just due to less things shared in common.\n2. Brain drain. It’s nice that we Americans and the western world at large takes in people. But what we are essentially doing is taking the best people from countries that need them.\nA doctor from Nigeria is one less doctor in Nigeria. So on and so on. The best way to keep the third world down, is to keep taking the best and brightest from them.

Something else that isn't really talked about is the number of Americans that have immigrated out of country. I'm in the process of immigrating to Australia from America and nearly half of all the people I knew in high school have you ever moved to Canada, Mexico, or Europe. The United States maybe the largest most powerful country on the planet in terms of money and military but if you look at immigration statistics it's more akin to a third world country. Honestly speaking the United States is about 50 second and third world countries bootstrap together with a military big enough to fight God.

It seems like the United States could absolutely run the board and absorb most of the highly educated people in the world if it wanted to.

I am surprised that you are surprised about our concern about gun Violence! I don’t think people in USA consume news in the same way Canadians do. Or maybe you have just become numb to it. Systemic approach would include teaching any of those people that want to come up here if they need money it's going to be with information on the internet audiobooks or whatever. Venezuelans are the only people south of the border that have a legal claim to ask for asylum. The US has more cities on worlds most dangerous cities list than the other countries south of the border. Biden admin created a crisis and enjoyed it as long as they thought illegals would be persuaded to support their fascism. But Venezuelans are escaping the corruption and authoritarian rule that the Biden admin and liberals want. They will never support it.

The problem lies in the fact that in the mainstream the issues are different and they are different for the secluded populations. I'm a Canadian who would live in the States. It's the news man. People forget America is the third most populated country in the world. All we get outside the US is a media machine that spits out doom and gloom 24/7.

Most Republicans will still argue that the world isn’t overpopulated, but they don’t seem to consider that many countries aren’t nice enough to live in. So if you take all the people and cram them into the areas that are fit to live in and that aren’t overcome by climate change and corruption, are we overpopulated then? Would you want to live in the middle of Nebraska? There’s plenty of space out there. We have to stop producing more humans. We’ve reached a crisis point. Please consider a childfree lifestyle. It’s okay if one or two generations need to suffer in their older years in order to get things under control. We can’t just continue producing more people to pay the Social Security of the upcoming generations. That’s ridonckulous. (I say that as a 49-year-old who will retire in 13 years.) And we need to legalize all drugs so that the drug cartels in Central and South America will die out and these people can live in peace in their own lands.

We have too much to worry about on our home front without this. ? these are people that will immediately sign up for benefits or commit crimes in lieu of manual labor jobs. We have the opioid crisis. The homeless crisis. CHILDREN that go hungry. In the USA ! I’m not describing a 3rd world country here! Like come on people! 1. While McDonald's was originally created in the US there is a 2nd version and its 100% Canadian. After the u.s. McDonald's began franchising one of the brothers became so disgusted with the lack of regulation in the US on what is considered 'food' he moved to Canada and relaunched the chain. While the restaurant named remains the same and a handful of the main burgers the two companies are completely separate and have nothing to do with one another.\n\n2. Gov work, nurses, doctors, teachers, etc have a regulated minimum wage of 7.25 are you ....... kidding me??? 3. The US has no paid maternity leave u have the baby take 2 weeks off unpaid and back work 4. Server's make 2.13 + tips an hour ...... 5. The federal and state government recommend homes in the city have sewage plumbing BUT it is not required. There are literally houses in the southern states with the toilets flushing right into the front or backyard. 6. Perfectly fine to pay a man more than a woman in the US because a woman isnt a man. 7. And if a woman literally becomes a man by changing 'her' name + physically in appearance via surgery/hormones/whatever she still won't get paid the same as a man because she still not viewed as a man: no gender rights. 8. Where's the healthcare when the US has the highest taxes in the world??? 9. Classist. 10. No regulated education. Literally there is no rules on teaching the students these days are learning absolutely nothing. There's no such thing as regulating education in the US anymore 11. The country is over 33 trillion dollars in debt..... Oh, hell no! And further to that, if I was visiting the US and got sick enough that I might need a hospital, I would do my damnedest to get back to Canada. I have heard Americans say that the healthcare is very good, as long as you have money. But I don’t trust it because Americans have been brainwashed to believe that the US is exceptional in every way (sorry guys, but it’s extremely obvious to the rest of the world), yet I have heard too many stories about things like people picking up C. Diff or other drug-resistant infections in hospitals there.\n\nI spent about two weeks in the hospital in February. You know what it cost me? Absolutely nothing. Well, I did have to pay for taking an ambulance later. But the hospital stay itself cost me nothing. Neither did the food they fed me in there, or the medication they gave me.\n\nMayyyybe if you guys got universal health care (it shouldn’t be tied to your job), and stopped shooting each other so much. You definitely have some better weather. Oh, and if you all toned down the religion a bit. Annnd stopped trying to play world police while simultaneously bombing other countries into oblivion to steal their resources. That’s been going on for far too long, and I don’t think the average American citizen even realizes it.

Government sells out it's people. Foreign policy is downright evil. Health insurance system is incentivized to deny you care. Religious fundamentalism. Insane gun culture that literally results in more mass shootings per year than days. Supreme Court actively trying to take away your rights. There are third world countries that are more safe and have better conditions if you're poor. I even avoid visiting there if I can help it. And I previously lived there for 3 years. I`m Canadian, and did move to the USA, then moved back to Canada. Americans are Taxed on every dollar they earn, most states have to pay Fed an State tax, Health Care cost is way to high, when they economy goods bad, it goes south really fast. America tax on avg 22%, Canada 15%, America state tax 5.75%, Canada 0%, America sales tax 7.4%, Canada 7% plus 5% GST, however you get the GST back when you file you`re taxes. The 1 thing I really like were the people, made some very good friends but, they are not very educated, most people don`t leave they`re state, because they can see the world on TV, so why travel, as I was told.

Yes, American citizens need to be taken care of first before we let any more people into the country, but let's keep thinking about this... Why are so many people trying to escape Venezuela? Could it possibly be the cripplingly sanctions the US has imposed on Venezuela for decades? There is no better example of how sanctions don't work and only make the population of the country suffer and not the leaders.
