For all the amazing things the US has to offer, right now we don't even want to visit there, let alone move there. We've talked about it a lot, but nope. In Canada, generally speaking (although there are exceptions to every rule) we have no idea what political leaning our neighbors favor. Political campaigns last no more than 51 days; they do not start the day after the last election and go on for years. This way, elected officials actually do some work instead of campaigning. Right now, the politics in the US, as well as the judiciary, are literally insane. Gun violence in the US is insane, as is the attitude towards guns. It shouldn't take a shooting that affects you personally to make you care about it, and it's not just at schools. The US has had 28 mass killings, with 140 victims, in 6 months... but the problem is that no one down there cares about that enough to stop it, or even discuss ways to stop it. The politics is so sold out to corporations that what is good for the people just doesn't matter. It is capitalism run amok. Environmental protections? They are an inconvenience, and most of them were rolled back a few years ago under the presidency of He Who Must Not Be Named. So politics, elections, shootings... but wait. There's more. I have a wonderful friend in the US who has amazing health care, and yet when he got cancer, he was screwed. We do pay a health care premium up here, but it is a drop in the bucket compared to what people in the US pay for private insurance. Yes, you have the best hospitals in the world, but it doesn't matter if you can't afford to walk in the door. Now dump the intolerance -- racism, homophobia, religious zealots, misogyny (yes, I am talking women's rights, equal pay, access to health care, etc) -- throw in the crazies with guns, and now ask the question again. I absolutely know that Canada is not perfect, and that the tolerances and attitudes towards all these subjects differs from region to region, but overall we are a country that tries to respect the rights and needs of others, that has empathy for others, that wants to help others, and that is a pretty firm foundation to make us want to stay here. (please don't interpret this as all Americans and all areas of the US have no respect etc... but the predominant issues of health care, politics, religion, corporate greed, and violence, now all supported by a bat-crap crazy SCOTUS, sadly spills and taints it all. I know there are amazing, generous, kind people all over the US, but I don't know where the crazies are or where they might pop up).

He stated a couple of times that you need to be strategic in where you live in the US when speaking of gun violence. I could live anywhere in Canada and not worry about my kids. Also, what can you expect from a country that believes 1/3 pound is less than 1/4 pound. Don’t believe me? I like your national parks. And I like the variety of ecosystems. Still not enough to get me to move though. As others said, the US has dysfunctional health care, dysfunctional religious groups/politicians trying to impose their beliefs on everyone, and dysfunctional gun laws, not to mention being less free.

A couple of hundred bucks a month for health care? I'm paying maybe a little over $400 US a year through my income tax return. Many years ago I had lunch with a Blue Cross rep trying to sell our firm a group insurance plan. She admitted that even basic limited coverage in California cost way more than what we as an employer were paying for our government health insurance. My point is, sure, your company provided health insurance may seem to be free to you, but imagine the hit your employer takes on the bottom line for it. And think of how much more your take home pay could be without those exhorbitant premiums.

I grew up in a border town always going over to New York state which I loved doing. I also love traveling within the U.S (going to Florida in 3 months) but to live there ?? Maybe!? I think if I met someone from there I'd definitely consider it, but to move there for no reason ? No . For me I feel like it's more of a don't knock it till you try it kinda thing

My friend moved there with her 10 yr old son. He started having panic attacks after the ‘school shooter drills’ if it happens enough that schools have drills how to try and survive… that just doesn’t work for most of us.

I lost a lovely girl to American paranoia. I assume her family or friends thought I was trying to scam her for a green card. I explained I was genuine, and would love for her to come to move to Canada... She could not get passed her untrustful nature and it was over before it really started. Healthcare in Canada is falling apart, our prime minister is trying to turn us into a dictatorship, cost of living has gone extreme especially buying a house.......Canada is not Canada at the moment, I would wait before moving here yet lol. Employers dont hire people without experience because of Justin Trudeau and his dam skilled immigration crap. Now there is too much skilled people looking for the same jobs. I went to a local job fair in a small building and it was overloaded with immigrants. There was only 7 employers hiring and in a room about the size of a classroom for 30 students. Yet there was 500 immigrants. You couldn't walk without pushing people. Even the hallways and the outside parking lot was crowded.... This is ridiculously way too much! We not to put a stop to the immigration and start making people go back to wherever they came from! And Justin Trudeau needs to be put in jail! I am a bilangual white french Canadian with perfect fluent french and english. I was born here in Ottawa and even i am struggling when trying to find a job and Justin Trudeau keeps trying to get more people in. That guy is seriously mentally unfit to be prime minister. Tyler, I very much appreciate your insightful thoughts. I have been watching your videos for the past few months and you regularly make me smile with your analyses. I have to join the many people who have responded and will also say no to the question. I last visited the US 4 years ago when I drove through upper Michigan to northern Wisconsin. The scenery was delightful and the people in the small communities were wonderful. What really scared me was all the billboard signs advertising guns in Michigan. I was very aware of my driving and tried not to do anything that might annoy someone and cause road rage. That is so unfortunate that you have to worry about the driver next to you. I have not been back to the US since and do not plan on any future visits even though I would dearly love to take my camper to the many beautiful, natural parks your country has.

I would shoot myself before I would move to the USA (finding a handgun might be tough as they are generally not available at my local convience store) Health care is a very small part of it. 5 friends over 20 years being returned from the USA in body bags. US culture is very infantile and toxic. I have tried once for 2 weeks 20 years ago and I literally cried when the plane crossed back into Canada. Racism was so much more extreme than I could imagine. The worship of the Money God was horrible. Also all the small things like the fear enhanced news programs and desentization to human rights and lack of freedom. ???

Travelled there so many times but I compare it to Paris : Heaven and Hell in the same place... Tried living there but was so happy to get back to Québec. The culture is not at all the same... But it is the most beautiful country to visit. Same with France but on a much smaller scale.

You complain about universal Health care, try living in the US with no insurance, my newborn nephew was diagnosed with cancer in the US and for 5 months of therapy parents got a bill of $400,000, they have to pay $5,000 monthly installments for the rest of their lifes pretty much. In Canada, my husband goes every three month with three different specialists, have had several surgeries in the last 10 years, didn't have work insurance and you know how much we paid? $3 per hour for the parking, we, the rest of the family, have complete annual checkups and specialists, complex surgerires when needed and pay $0

First I feel for these people. They want to live in the greatest country in the world. If these Venezuelans are refugees, why do they skip over Columbia, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Guatemala, and Mexico to try to get to the US? A refugee would stop at any of those stable countries along the way. An opportunist would try to find the best economic opportunity and attempt to skip the line of immigration there.

Canada does more to discourage start ups then encourage them. Canada is a terrible country to try and start a business which explains why so many exploit the house market, which in turn has made a complete mess of affordable housing for Canadians. Foreign property investing was suppose to have been stopped but the Liberal government changed their mind and decided to allow foreigners to continue buying up properties and driving the house prices higher too the point properties are empty because no one can afford the rental prices. I guess that's why the Federal government introduced a new tax for properties that are vacant. Oh Canada

As far as I’m aware Venezuela can be really dangerous to live in. I might do the same thing if I was born there especially as a woman or someone with children. But even men want to live. Easy to say that you should band together to overtake corruption but harder to do it when your life is directly on the line. Thanks for telling people the truth. People are never told the truth. The Canadian government website is written in simple English and French and is very straight forward and you can apply to come on your own, but people insist in going through agents who are just making money off of them. Please read the website in detail. The government hides nothing on their website. Don't blame the government and try to understand what some of the immigration lawyers and agents are doing to you. If you are not well versed in the English or French language, get someone to help you with the website and application. Stop paying unnecessary money and go directly to the government. The agents and lawyers will be doing exactly what you can do. Not all of them are genuine. The government tells you not to pay people money, come to them. There are refugees sleeping on the pavements. Why come to the country under those conditions. We don't have enough housing right now for people and rents at the condos are very high. A one bedroom apartment in Toronto is about $2,000 plus.

Please ?, keep sharing these types of information. Am living here in Kansas City, United States. I have been trying for my brother to visit and even try school and they have been denied visa. But now am in the process of filing for my mom to come as a permanent resident. Am even thinking about helping one of my brothers to go to school in Canada with a student visa after watching your video. Am very pleased to come across your videos. Forget parents, even many immigrants are unhappy in Canada. Every time I run into an Indian who has studied or lived in US he is frustrated. 2 people in my team received their Canadian citizenship and have started trying for positions in US. 3 white Canadians in our company moved to US in last 2 year itself.\nCanada is not a great country from parents. It's cold, white and depressing throughout. Many parents can stay for relatively longer in California or Texas where there is vibrant community and weather is very much like India. I lived for 10 years of life in snow before moving to Canada - Massachusetts, North Carolina and Virginia. I just 2 winters, I feel depressed in Canada as it's white for 4 to 5 months.

So it’s not Mexicans trying to cross into the USA it is Venezuelans who have travelled from their country of origin to the border. To do that they have had money, access to transport and probably support from criminal gangs/people smugglers. They are not genuine refugees but economic migrants.

Letting them into the US won't help them nor America I have compassion towards them but logic outweighs it the US can't afford a huge migration they themselves are being selfish trying to force entry.
