I am a Brazilian who lived in 2 different countries in Europe and of course in Brazil, and I share the same feeling as this guy once I lived in Toronto for 12 months and could not stay any longer. Canada self sells itself very well, but once you are inside it is not worthy. It only fits those that are very consimists. Just for those who think that happiness can be purchased.

I love Canada and could never imagine living anywhere else, it's not perfect but what country is. Everyone can have something that they can dislike and see things that need improvement but isn't that the case in every country. We are one of the most free countries in the world, and we are diverse and I love it, the housing is a issue now but in a few years it will be something else, people who believe that everything has to perfect will never find a home.

If rampant drug use, homelessness and a high cost of living is what you’re looking for then Canada is your answer. I moved to Vancouver in 2016 from Australia. What a monumental waste of time it has been. If you’re not already wealthy, don’t bother moving here and even if you are there are better options than Canada. Ps the government is useless.

Possessing a Canadian passport is the goal; there are literally millions of Canadian expats who live outside Canada, perhaps they visit frequently, or infrequently, and many have investments in Canada. I was interested in leaving my country (Ireland), because of our housing crisis, and a growing disillusion with my government for prioritising housing everyone but the hardworking saps. I was considering Canada, until I researched it. Seems like we're in similar situations.

I came as an immigrant 25 years ago. I live in Vancouver and I'd say that social isolation is big problem here. Most of my neighbours first language is something other than English and most don't speak English at all, which makes it practically impossible to ever get to know each other in any meaningful way. The way it works out is that people then get into their own ethnic groupings and eventually their children will speak fluent English and then there is some integration. But that takes a whole generation. Canada is being swamped at the moment and just how it will all work out remains to be seen.
