my family left their country after ww2 and went to canada and buildt a great life....i was born there and 47 years later i went back to their birth place and now i have a better life.....i miss canada and i lost everything moving....but my kids deserve a fair shot at life...canada literally offers NOTHING TO FAMILIES...JUST POLICE CHILDREN'S AID, HIGH TAXES AND TRANS TEACHERS....being a tax payer in canada means nothing now.

The problem is that people from other countries actually get to ENJOY their lives when they were living their homelands, even with serious careers. In Canada, there is NO ENJOYMENT and they have realized that if they stay here it's a life of slavery that they have entered. I had exactly the same experiences in 2002 when I went(and came back) on PR to Canada. Getting into a proper paying job in your own profession is the most herculean task in itself. The necessity of a car due to extreme harsh weather most of the months and then initially affording only a basement with mostly indoor activities during non-summer months takes a huge toll on one’s mental well being. Most of the jobs are regulated in Canada so getting an equivalent clearance and compatibility for a job is no easy task at all otherwise you’ll end up doing only sundry manual help jobs around which too aren’t available easily. I found a lot of positivities and possibilities too in Canadian life but then be prepared to sacrifice a lot for many years and then maybe you realise you have a lot more to loose than gain! So as this blogger said Go to Canada first on say a tourist visa to friends or family, stay and spend some time and money too and then make a long term decision to come and stay forever or not. But in the meantime don’t quit your job or business back in India till you come to a final outcome?

I came to Canada with family as a PR holder (without a job) and my point of view is completely different. Now I am a Canadian citizen after 6 years. My view is always towards my kids future which are brighter than in India I believe. My kids (now citizen) can travel and work in Canada, India, US, UK etc. without any Visa. They are OCI as well and can enjoy life in India in future if they want. What do I want more? Initial 5 to 6 months is a struggle is for everyone though.

You don't have to wait in the US for health care because a lot of people can't get any health care service becaused it is too expensive. If you are out of Canada for more then 6 months, you are no longer convered by the Canadian health system.

My husband is from China, Im from Hong Kong. We both came around 2000, at the time houses were cheap and affordable. We met and married after we became Canadian in 2004 and the same year we bought our first house 4 bedrooms 3000sqft near Fairview Mall. Our first daughter has now just graduated and we plan to fund her on her down payment because we know it's not affordable on her own. The price has gone up not double, not triple or quadruple, but 5 times what it used too and not even near centre of the city. Canada housing is now so bad my husband regrets giving up his Chinese citizenship at one point luckily Hong Kong allows multiple citizenship and we can still go back and settle when things get worse. Sucks for my kids who have never had much experience outside of Canada so they will need to learn and cope for better or for worse.

As far as city planning goes, Canada’s pretty substandard. They might be marginally better at it than most places in the states, but Canadian cities are still severely inferior to most of the world
