As a Kenyan living in Switzerland, one of the most expensive countries in the world, i‘d share these thoughts: \n\nDo due deligence. Don’t leave your country without any proper structure of what you are going to do\n2. Once you are there, live within your means. Like for example why should i get a car and incur additional cost when there is cheaper reliable transport system. You must be financially disciplined to be able to survive here.\nAs a matter of fact, I am a PhD student, in the lowest salary bracket, but I am far much financially more stable and liquid than I was as a high school teacher. \nSo do your due deligence and be disciplined. And people should stop generalising stuff because they screwed up somewhere

Hi Lynn, I love this conversation. It is the same everywhere,the cost of living is so high even here in the US. If you go to a different country without following the right procedures and getting the right papers things are going to be really hard.

Guess what? Every time we won the games, they promised to employ us. They will tell us to apply and write an essay to why you needed that job. I suffered for 4 years writing essays and applying. Little did I know, the secretary would hide my application in her drawer and bring in her family member. It happened I got a scholarship to play and go to school. I finished school, I work out of the country and never regret again. My point is, some of us left kenya because we were pushed to the edge, it is difficult to get a job and people are very mean in those offices. If you try to invest, you get conned too.

I just think there is alot of problems where kenyans are concerned\n\n1. Rely on fake agents and their short cuts. There are accredited agents from developed countries who source in africa and asia but not the other way round. These are sometimes listed on official government websites. \n\n2. Don't fully undertand skills. They think acdemic papers and some random corporate jobs equals skills. Lets call skills, trades and ICT expertise; carpenters, plumbers, nurses, teachers have a better chance than some bank manager in Kenya. \n\n3. Rely too much on youtubers with random clips on things they need to train in like nursings and such over a short period then land in Canada and get a job. It doesn't work like that. First of all, has canada said they need Kenyan nurses? Immigration in developed countries is based on policy. So even when they give visas, they know what they are doing and who they are letting in and for what jobs. \n\n4. Do not go to official government websites to confirm random research and advice\n\n5. Are still dishonest and think it's about trickery and knowing people. Well, not always. At least be able ans willing to yo flip burgers and clean toilets if it comes to that!?\n\n6. There is no affordable housing in developed countries. They too are struggling on that front.\n\n7. Happy Birthday Lynn ?\n\nBack to the video. \nPeople should look towards other provinces.\nIt seems most people are only going to the warm weather provinces and city where there are explosion in population and there are no jobs. \nIf people can go to the Northwest territories, Albeta,Quebec etc, these areas aren't as congested, though very cold in weather, but out there one would be able to get settled. People should move out there endure the cold weather remain focused and use it as a stepping stone to work and save up, then they can move back to the warm weather provinces with whatever skills and better knowledge of the country.

Can someone explain how the city is broke if they imported 400,000 newcomers on a year? What is the purpose of these immigrants if not to enrich our country? I see Canada now as a dumping ground where people come to get easy passports and/or park money - contribute nothing, develop nothing. Look at advanced cities in Asia with Technology and investments. Bhai, this is the usual problem with all western countries. They can not handle their inflation and welfare system is a burden that the politicians can not get rid off. Just like our reservation system in India which we can still tackle to some extent. But their welfare system includes students, disabled, elderlies, unemployed, rehabilitation of drugs, refugees intake every year. As an international student who works at 3 jobs almost 7 days a week to pay my college and rent… I can only afford a small room with a sharing washroom with 4 others. Life here so difficult and it’s very exhausting. Canada should stop advertising itself as a country of opportunities and easier life. At least from what I have seen in Ghana, people are starting businesses.\n\nI am going to say something I observed about Ghana. I found out that women, as usual, are more hard-working. I realised that the men don't have work because they are lazy or have too much pride. I have watched so many videos where so many business owners complain about the ineffectiveness and inefficiencies of the workers. They are not dedicated when they work for other people. I watched these business owners whose workers in the farms are mostly women, and they were very happy that women are easier to control and have good work ethics as opposed to men. Ford taking away rent control in 2019 to encourage more investors to build more properties killed the lower and working class. Built nothing but condos that mostly investors bought. Now rent is $2,500 for a 1 bedroom. Even with a modest 50k salary you barely getting buy. You need to make 100k in Toronto just to live a basic life. In Canada, more than half of people's income goes to rent or mortgage. This country has been bought and sold to the real estate. This is what happens when everyone treats real estate as an investment instead of a basic necessity. But enjoy your sky high property values. A house costs 1 million dollars now. Winnipegger here who lived in Toronto 2014-2020, moved back to Wpg 2020-2021 and is now back in Toronto. \n\nFirst and foremost, your comments on crime are inconsistent with the data and blown out of proportion. I suggest viewers take a look at StatsCan’s crime severity index which confirms that Ontario is the safest province or territory in Canada (safer than PEI lol). There are also scores for cities and Toronto is safer than almost every other Canadian city, safer than even Ottawa or Calgary, twice as safe as Vancouver, nearly three times safer than Winnipeg. If we start comparing to US cities, it would be even more shocking. Suffice to say, Toronto is not only safe, but it’s the safest major city in Canada and one of the safest major cities on earth. \n\nThe homelessness crisis has certainly gotten a lot worse, sadly. As has the cost of living, but you get what you pay for.\n\nHaving travelled to 35 countries (doesn’t mean I’m an expert, but I have some experiences in other places), I respectfully disagree and think Toronto is one of the greatest cities. It’s one of the greenest cities in this continent, safe, on the lake, super close to other major cities, great infrastructure (relative to Canadian cities anyway), it’s beautiful and there’s a ton to do, not to mention the diversity. \n\nDon’t be turned off by this, if you can afford it, it’s one of the best places you could live on this planet.

Diversity is our strength. Think of all that we gain from being home to the best of all that is available from these diversified cultures. Think of all of the worst that we also gain from so many of those diversified cultures. When we import people from all around the world, we import, along with all of the good, all of the bad. What is culturally and morally acceptable in a great many of these foreign countries, is NOT acceptable in Canada. However, our accepting liberal society has a solution for that, we simply change to meet the ever moving social and moral target. This is why our Prime Minister gets away with stating that Canada has no national identity or culture worth preserving, since we just accept and then change to suit.

There are just not that many options of places to live in the US that are good, especially if you don't want to be isolated. As an American I thought about moving to rural New Hampshire.. which doesn't have city problems, but still, kind of cold and isolating and they might have meth problems. I decided on Miami as a home-base, its expensive, but there aren't many other good options out there.. Living in another country is psychological hard after awhile and dealing with visa issues.. I thought about moving to somewhere like Budapest which is very nice, but if you aren't part of the culture or know the language, its hard.. Its better sometimes just to settle down somewhere, I can't get anything done as a nomad, constantly worried about where I am going to next, living in other people's apartment isn't always comfortable..

Not only in Canada dear brothers and sisters, here in the Netherlands housing prices and living costs are at least to say expensive. My luck is that I bought my house 10 years ago for a very good price ( 160.000 Euro's with a current mortgage of 519,00 Euro per month as the interest rate is 1,3% almost hilarious for Dutch standards today ) for a normal house with 3 bedrooms, attic, normal sized bathroom, garden, driveway for 1 car and on one side separated from my neighbor because there is a shed in between. Nothing special but now people will fight each other to get a house like mine. So conclusion: I can save some money to plan a trip to Canada next year or 2025, no delay anymore! Targeting BC and Alberta ( mountains!!!) is the plan for this trip as your country is huge at least to say. I like your vids Alina, really useful information and your relaxed style of presenting. I’m a skilled tradesperson and at one point I was talking to an American company that did the work of my dreams to come and work for them and initially they were interested. But then we realized that for me to actually get a visa is essentially impossible. The entire world is short on tradespeople and many countries will welcome them very easily but America makes it nearly impossible for no real reason

Canada is a beautiful country in the summer but I've been in nicer countries and cities in Europe. After living in Germany for a few years as a child I struggled to find anywhere in Canada that even compares, and the closest I came was southern BC where you pay a premium to live in a relatively nice climate that most people around the world take for granted. That's not even getting into how Victorian Canadian culture feels compared to Europe.

So far BEST CITY i have found unbelievably...is WINNIPEG. WHY? Houses and car inauranmore affordable and the people are genuinely lovely and kind. They get out together and talk to their neighbors. (Unless in brand new area with all newcomers). Only advice is stay away from north west...that is a nasty area. Rest of city is great. Downtown not best to live in. Work in is fine.
