Immigrants are not the issue. Millions of illegal immigrants and Millions of free refugees are the issues. And those refugees and illegal immigrants don't have ethics.

The housing pricing in Canada are pretty insane. The value of my 900 SF condo in Victoria has doubled in the past 10 years. I don't know how anyone gets into the market today when you add in inflation for regular goods over the past couple years. I know it's become a hot button in parliament of late, and the government seems to be trying to spearhead more housing, but they are pretty late.\n\nI'm also a little surprised that a majority of conservatives don't think the immigration levels are too high. But I suspect that has gone down of late with the said housing issues. More skilled workers is better for Canada overall, and will generally drag wages up, but housing has to keep pace so costs don't escalate more than wages.

Of course there is racism here in Canada, but her examples lead me to believe that her family has issues. I love black people. Not sure if she's from the U.S., but she has a real anger and hatred attitude. We are all one human race. Love one another and treat others as you want to be treat. It's amazing how far that goes. Thank you Canada for what you gave me through my own efforts. To go to university with my own money, to buy a house around the same time, to be able to have my son in a prestigious school, for all this I thank you. But this doesn't mean that I don't see big issues around me. I do see them and also, I see nothing to solve something. So, four more years Canada. That's it. I have enough.

The Canadian way of dealing with issues: Throw money at it and bring more immigrants. in other words, provide a short term solution while creating a major long term issue.

Our birth-rate is low, so we do need immigrants, that being said, housing needs to keep up and so do appreciation of foreign experience. \nSome of the Ukrainian refugees that we welcomed in NL were doctors and nurses and they really wanted to start working, but were not allowed because they were not trained in Canada. This isn't even a foreigner issue, if a doctor/nurse wanted to move to a different province there are still obstacles, which doesn't make sense to me! Sure healthcare workers from other countries should be brought up to speed on the system, but at the end of the day, they still acquired the education and work experience to do their job and can provide proof of their credentials, it should not take years to work in Canada.

Hope everyone caught when he said we need immigrants to come here to keep building homes, what this is is yes some are building homes but most are buying homes and renting to their own . This housing issue is beyond fixing

Reddit is a very leftist platform and so these types of responses were predictable. A lot of it would have been true in the 70s and 80s but these are Canadian stereotypes that people are desperately holding onto. More and more things are being delisted from our healthcare coverage, meaning that I often hear of people getting charged out of pocket. I was surprised 3 years ago when my doctor ordered a cancer screening after I was suffering a digestive issue. I was not prepared to pay out of pocket for something as essential as cancer screenings. This sort of thing always used to be covered. It was always covered by our much higher cost of living and our higher taxes. If my taxes keep going up, I expect services to get better, not to decline like they have been. Our seniors are afraid to go to the doctor these days. Suicide is being offered to them instead of proper care and treatment. After they had spent decades working and paying into the system they are being shut out.

While he made some valid points (which are a matter of choice and perspective), I do not agree with salaries being better in Nigeria. The example of rent being so cheap such that you can save half of your salary is a classical example of why there is a huge wealth gap. If the labourers who built those homes were paid real living wages and if there are strict building codes that must be adhered to, rents will never come cheap. There is a fundamental minimum (living) wage issue in Nigeria that needs to be addressed. It plays a significant role in the growth of any economy.

The difficult part is gelling with people. That is difficult, because we are not raised that way, but my son has no issues, because he was raised here. Everyone has their own experiences. But the hospital incident I can relate. One time I took my son in emergency and the doctor gave anesthesia to my son in his finger and then got busy worh other patients and when she came back the affect was almost done and when she gave cut in his finger, he was in real pain and I was literally in tears. \nAfter few years when my situation was grave the head of the department herself took permission in the meeting for my immediate MRI which takes longer if you not in dire need.\n\nBut she gave the perfect review. Never come here to study in college. You won't get anything except wasting your money. For me it's been 20 years here. Life is not easy at all, but I'm used to it. May be because I don't need friends to share happiness or my sorrows. I'm a strong woman and can handle my ups and down. \nLife is all about paying bills and bills here and I now I don't have any regrets, so I'm okay with it. Winters are good as long as you have proper clothing and shoes. I never had an issue.

There is something to take note of for the salaries: Canada has almost free health care, but the USA really doesn't. Maybe it affects the salaries? I mean yes you may get a lot more money, but if you have health issues, canada is maybe more equal? I don't know

Seriously speaking i love this city but as you said it is very expensive to live in live in the midtown both my wife and myself are full time workers and we are managing the expenses, the declining ratio is for sure i blame the government, the bad thing is no matter what every other immigrant whether they lands in halifax or calgary they move to Gta or in toronto, the government should have a check and balance to those people who are nominated in other provinces and moved to Toronto, i dont blame the people it is the government they need to make the opportunity in every province and put a cap on the individual if you are landed in Saskatchewan you should stay in the same place for almost 5 years, if a person or a family live constantly for 5 years at one place they don’t even try to think to move any-other city unless they have some serious issues their, i am also an immigrant a landed PR from Pakistan Alhumdulillah i work hard my wife does the same Managing the expenses but it’s true it is not affordable for everyone now.

Language barrier is the major issue. \n\nI think Europe can work well for people who don’t want to strain too much heheh ?. You can still have something on the table with a lowest income. We have managed to pay a mortgage with our regular 8-5pm job. The immigration services in ?? are faster than Germany.\n\nThe social system is working for me.

I was speaking to a German friend about how the South African border is out of control and how people are advocating to build a wall. We literally have migrants from most African countries, and then for some reason a growing number of Pakistani people. Illegal migration, crime, safety and security will be one of the top 3 issues on the national elections next year.

I’m here for last 6 years but I’d like to tell people - Canada is not the place to come and never ever make this mistake . Economy literally zero, school system - other than real education they teach you everything which is of useless in life, medical care - people have been waiting to see doctor for over 2 years, income tax is 50% which is you’ll never get anything as take home. There are way too many society issues that she’s not able to cover because of the limited time she lived here. There’s no social structure, festivals, support, mentally everyone’s weak, almost all food is GMO which will make you patient forever. Every family who came here post covid is struggling. The problem is demand and demand is hugely increased by investors. Investors don't live in the place and in many cases they don't even rent the place. At lease half of those seeking to buy houses are investors. Therefore investors double the demand.\n\nHouses are limited supply whereas investors are numerous and have access to unlimited money either cash or loan from banks. We have created a housing market. It means we made it something like share market where everyone can put their money in it and buy as many as they want. During the pandemic demand for toilet paper became very high and there were limited supply. Supermarkets limited one or 2 packs per customer because it would be unfair for some to stack most of the papers and others have none. Some customers wanted to buy tons and fill their homes with toilet paper and they did. House and land is limited too. Why can't we do the same for homes? Demand is important and always going to be there from those who want to move there and live in it. Investors buy many homes and bid higher in value than normal people because they have more money and they know the price will rise. They raise the demand sky high. Specially if they're foreign investors. They can buy hundreds of apartments or houses and leave it empty.\n\nAs I mentioned, we do need certain amount of demand for housing and that demand is going to be always there by people who want to buy and live in it whether they're local or immigrants. However, when many investors come in and they have greed, the demand becomes sky high and the price will become so high that only investors can afford them. Rent also depends on the value of the property. The higher the price, the higher the rent. So the issue is investors. Too many of them with too much greed.

I take offence as a Canadian when I hear the quality of our healthcare. There is time issues yes but we have some of the best hospitals in the world. We also have state of the art medical technology, some of the best research hospitals. A lot of fake news if you have never had to use our resources for life/death medical issues.

I have a cousin in the States. I was shocked at how little he knew about other countries among other things. \n\nThen I vacationed in Hawaii. Some members of my family own guns. They are used only to provide meat for the family and the rest of the time they are locked away safely. Nothing could convince me to live there, and now I won't visit either.
