In Canada, It's culture and called handy man skills. Plus, there are colleges too, where people get great career in so many fields but again, you gota be handy man. Winter in Canada is harsh, and you are in Cold country and they have all planned.

Am I lucky ? I allways wanted to live in Canada but it didnot happen. Somehow I never applied to live in Canada, I am happy in Europe and South America. I love to come to Canada and many other places in the world as a tourist.

as an Immigrant, I'm done immigrating for now but I get taxed net net around 45% + HST + Carbon tax + Property taxes, for all these taxes, I get really not much back. I don't qualify for most services, I don't get dental, I don't need many either, but it is putting a lot of pressure on my entrepreneurship aspirations. The healthcare is truly atrocious and still need to fly for medical appointments by good doctors since doctors here are dumber for some reason. If you want to be an entrepreneur who owns a house, Canada is not your place right now. Worst of all is the culture, highly highly introverted in a bad way, cold people, bad social skills, boring conversations and everyone seems to be high on weed. I am glad you have found something to do as a hobby but if you were in the USA you would have 4X the disposable income (and I think we all would still be complaining).

Reason number 10 you should've added is Culture. Many immigrants that come here do not get used to the Canadian culture and get homesickness, especially if they leave family behind. And especially for Asian and Middle Eastern people, Culture and Family is everything, so they go back to their home country for that. Now, especially with this LGBTQ+ agenda in schools and Liberal influence, many immigrant parents are not happy about it, and that's why they leave Canada. So Culture is such an important factor, which I think should've been the 2nd biggest factor after the 1st factor being the high cost of living.

I lived in Toronto, Hamilton, and St.John's in the 90s. Canada was a strong country back then, and government was fair and hardworking. We all could see Canada growing into one well developed country some day. And then in the 2010s I went back to visit twice, many once crowded places in downtown Toronto and vancouver were deserted. Shops closed. Beggars everywhere even in cold winter days. People are still very polite, but I could see the hopelessness in their eyes. Like everyone is too busy to care for others because they have trouble looking after themselves too. \n\nI cry for you Canada.

Canada is not a free country as they advertise .... There are a lot of socialist behaviors by the government to control what you say and do. taxes are high, with many layers of tax on tax on tax then user fees for most things. Not sure what will become of this place with 3% of the population -> 1.2 million new people in Canada this year alone and plans to keep increasing that number. Canada will not be what it is today it will be something else similar to the mass migration waves into Canada 100 years ago.

Most of this is accurate, except there are plenty of homes in Canada under $400 000. The problem is with the higher rates and stress test (which is another huge factor as to why people are leaving) it's difficult to be approved for enough to even purchase a cheap home. Also the competition for cheaper homes is brutal. Even with an income over $70 000 a year your looking at maybe being approved for $270 000 right now. Not many livable houses for that price in Ontario near jobs. Canada is not the same place anymore. Another problem is wages going down or becoming stagnant due to immigration. I have personally seen both security and the trucking industries nearly destroyed because of this. When entry level and mid-range trained jobs aren't making the wage you need to live, you don't have many choices but to go somewhere you can afford.

Basically, Canada decided to wear shoes way bigger than its size. Accommodating so many immigrants without any robust planning and management was a gamble that backfired the country. Immigration is simply too high at the moment. It's a small country in a big space. Our infrastructure did not keep up with growth for the last 20 years. This is obviously federal policy issues over the last few decades. I don't blame people for coming here, it's nice. That being said... Too many people have come here too quickly. Canada needs time to catch up.

Rent will keep increasing as there is no competitive market. as many of the people in Canada are already operating carousel tax fraud. Let's think about this clearly, as the population grows we need more businesses, more schools, more produce etc... Fact we need the same amount of business for a community based on the size of the community I would think. In the 1800's a small school house was sufficient, a local convenience store was enough with a mail order catalogue etc.. As population grows you need more. We also now have self check outs etc.. We are cutting down Canadas number one resource trees to make way for more and more roads etc.. Having to spend more to change and widen roads, feed these refugees, support them till they get situated, house them for how long, educate, train them, and then hope they can actually adapt and not hate us etc.. Look around the world and not just in our own back yards i.e. what happened in NY today, look at Britain afraid to put up Merry Christmas not to offend or any Christian monuments. Yet we have to tolerate. hmmm As said before I am neither Christian nor Jewish I am Natsarim and view those things as pagan myself but feel this world is going down the wrong path and nobody should have to cave in for the sake of others. Many also come here only to study or take loans and then spend all that money they borrow and then leave, banks offer them special incentives with with welcome to Canada packages and they use it all up, buy goods, then sell them and leave. Actually Canada should first allow immigration from like minded countries and they must be fluent in English. The cost of immigration shouldn't be on local taxe payer's mostly because most people are living paycheck to paycheck. Just remember that the more there are people in any city the cost of housing will go up there are many issues that we should be talking about but most people who speak up are automatically called racist in order to shut them up. Canada on its own can't be responsible for feeding or educating the third world.. the effects on the environment by mass migration is never mentioned.

I don't think Canadian Government have many options for this matter. People now can see one or two side effects of a sequence of immigration policies, but overlook the other side of the same coin that newcomers fill a gap in the labor market and tax revenue. After pandemic, I suppose many restaurant and hotel owners would be happy to see more legal migrants coming to Canada. For public schools, they may also be happy to see that. And I don't see a good reason for a country of immigrants to start a backlash against migrants. Believe it or not, there're still a large group of people and businesses benefitting from those policies. The second largest country around the globe only has a population of about 40 million, even less than that of UK. It sounds like a joke when people just complain about housing crisis due to higher immigration but not complain about lots of vacant and unutilized spaces.

Immigration is good but do not bring in criminals and leachers! Canada have brought in so many criminals from other countries. The documentary on the iranian regime recently, how on earth did we have 700 of them!? How many immigrants are here and just leaching off the welfare system? I spoke to some new immigrants who got a PR for a useless job experience.

I love Canada and I love the fact its mixing so many cultures in together, but we just can't keep up at the current pace. Another thing lots of people have an issue with is the lack of diversity in the immigrants. Our services and lifestyles are being strained to the point where people are getting sick of it, put a cap on each country and only allow that cap to be broken for asylum seekers/refugees. It's not immigration that's causing the housing crisis. Check and see how many refugees are coming across to Canada. The news agency need to ask the CBSA how many refugees are getting processed alone at Pearson International Airport.

Fix the money and financial systems in Canada to support the citizens of Canada first and then Canada can take in as many immigrants that want to immigrate to Canada. The primary issue of Canada is that its population is drastically low and if Canada is to exist into the future the citizens of Canada need to redress the financial systems of Canada and then turn into itself to manage its resources for supporting Canada's citizens first and then use the excess of resources for trade to other countries like the USA and Europe and Asia. I'm an immigrant from Latin America myself and i have to agree but it's deeper than that.\nI try my best to assimilate the culture but clearly not every immigrant does the same. \nOne of the reasons i left Toronto a couple years ago was precisely because of the housing crisis. They made it so that I could not be employable in Canada. So I moved to the U.S. in 2005 and then some years later I moved permanently to the Philippines. Born in South Vietnam and raised in Toronto for almost 44 years now I'm still here and Toronto sucks!!! It has become a ghetto! City Toronto leftists' politicians have made it into a shithole! Bike lanes are everywhere and there are not much bikers during the Winter months (something like 8 to 9 months) and summer months I saw few here and there. Rents are totally beyond many peoples affordability. Foods prices are freaking crazy. Reason why this is happening? You have to thank the current idiotic-leftard government under Trutard leadership in Canada. This is thanks to his carbon taxes BS initiative causing high cost in fuel and resulting in major inflations in high food prices, rentals, etc. How can you help refugees and immigrants while Canadians can't even afford to live in Toronto, etc. You need to take care of Canadian first and foremost. Taking in 500 thousands new immigrants and refugees each year isn't going to be help Canada to get this mess we are in. Lower number like 150-200 thousands of new immigrants | refugees is feasible but NOT 500 thousands new immigrants and refugees.

Good solid takes on life in Canada as it stands in the larger cities. My family immigrated in the late 80s when I was a young child to YYZ and the housing prices and quality of living was really solid back then. We moved to YVR in the late 90s and prices seemed to be pretty stable as well. Think things started to change shortly after my undergrad years in the mid 2000s. Unfortunately, the government wanted to increase immigration which is great, but forgot to build out the transportation infrastructure and develop the health care system properly. Foreign credential recognition is really the biggest bottleneck for newcomers. Newcomer employment expectations and what is available to them is not really matching up, I know this first hand as I've worked in the employment enabling sector. Weather as you mentioned is subjective, I prefer the cold, clean crisp air here in Canada, I don't do well in the hot humid polluted weather in most East and Southeast Asian countries. Crime has definitely been on the rise as many people around me have had personal experiences with this topic. Finally housing, to live comfortably in YVR a family income of 150K is probably bare minimum these days.

From asia, My sister have a PHD credential, even i used to encourage her to seek for a better quality of life in this country, bcoz the good opportunity in Singapore is packed, no more good job left, so i always encourage her to go canada, except for canada, I can't think of a good place for her to go... I'm leaving because I want to start a family and Canadian women are giant zeros for starting families. I have dated too many women in this country, it's crazy, I never thought I'd be that guy but I cannot find a decent woman I'd marry here. 50% of the women are infertile or have uterus problems. 35% are on SSRI's or psyche meds. I'm only dating fit decent looking women, and the pool here isn't that big because so many women are obese and refuse to exercise or eat properly. The weather is terrible too. The politics are awful too. It's become so expensive. The tax money is wasted, you get very little value for your taxes. Actually, the fact that there are so many agencies that supposedly help homeless people doesn't mean that help can be accessed so easily. In fact, there is an extreme shortage of housing in Canada and all shelters are full, mentally ill and homeless folks can not be placed in regular shelters, the right approach would be rehabilitation centers. Unfortunately, rehabilitation centers are for profit. \nSo it's hard to say what exactly they are spending those billions on.

Well done. My family can be traced in Canada to 1807, or earlier. I have lived my life in the same Province that I was born. And the main objection a Canadian citizen might use to consider moving away is because of the high rate of migration, both legal and illegal. When population was 32M we allowed 25K legal migrants. At 40M we are expected to absorb 1M new migrants into a system that has sent most manufacturing jobs overseas, abused taxes and Parliament and many existing social systems are used to support the added burden. So the reason resident Cdns may seem standoffish is because the addition of a new migrant makes their job that much harder and further reduces the chances of home ownership or having a family. In one Province the average legal immigrant is able to import 23 members of their immediate family. In a Province of 4M, there exists Medical identity Cards for 8M.
