Why can't these people just move into some family members house, if they can't pay rent. Call your parents, explain the situation and move in their house and then when you are able to pay rent, move out. Instead you are just squatting in someone else's house and racking up debt. And then when they sue you, you will have to pay legal fees too on top of everything else.

Nothing to worry. Its hell. I wish they had never given us visa . They been playing with our lives for several years. I have a kid who was born in USA and has mild autism. No one will believe how they have tortured us. How they never let me keep a job . I kept moving to different places but noone will hire me or rent us a descent house. They anyways hate us so why to go there to be the slave of the same people who tortured your kid. In pune applied to jobs and school for him, but noone will admit him. Because of his condition he forgets everything. Had he been a normal kid and gone through all these he would have got traumatized for life. Can you break down the west coast cause holy moly, i feel like i live in india not Canada!!! My apt building is filling up with immigrants, all the whites are moving out as the landlord is letting our building turn into a slum, whenever i call, he is in India, he has not fixed a damn thing and as white people move out, he does not clean the apt between people, he let's them move in with other people's garbage, he did that to me and when i complained he asked for the keys back, he is also doubling the rent of the new immigrants. Why is it true Canadians are becoming homeless...i don't see any Indians living on the street at all!! I went through this twice during COVID. Two tenants stopped paying one after the other and lost over 50k. Sadly, the only option is to take her to small claims court but in order to do that you need an eviction order and sheriff documents. Even if he does get to that point, they can o lay garnish her wages and at that point, she can avoid paying and jump from place to place changing addresses info and job details. Professional renters know the system and they work it to screw the landlords. One tenant I had actually believed that if they rent the house they “own the home”. Even if you call the police they won’t do anything. If the government just allowed the police to arrest and charge these people I think it would help but they don’t. It’s horrible. I’m actually thinking of selling my home because of the financial burden it’s been post COVID. I have good tenants now but only after using most of the equity to pay off the damage and missed rent from the last 3 tenants….

Makes sense. While 41k seems like a large amount, Toronto rents have gotten out of control and people are charging exorbitant amounts. If he was able to use throw her out landlords would be doing so and jacking up the prices. There has to be a system in place and a process.. this takes time, but it’ll play out.

We have heaps of Indians coming to Auz they either drive Taxis or Ubers they are supposed to be poor immigrants ,don’t you believe it ,they are going to all the house auctions bidding them ,friends of mine ,rented a house to supposed to be two people ,when they found 12 people living in the house with 4 bedrooms ,and it was a mess ,they got evicted

Law in not protecting small landlords. \nThey are paying mortgages at almost doubled rates un 5 years and rent can be increased only 2.5%.\nWhy governments interfering to put small landlords on disadvantage?\nIf rent is only allowed to increase by 2.5% then mortgages and Utilities should be allowed to increase by same proportion.

The system is BROKEN. Tenants like this one are abusing the backlogs, landlords like this one want pitty when they are clearly MAKING INCOME on these rentals but are NOT paying taxes on those earnings yet, everyone else has to pay taxes on what little they earn. PLUS, there are landlords such as mine that has decided to take away my basement after renting the WHOLE house so he can build another unit so he can make more money but all he's offered is to keep my rent at the same price, no increase. I have to put up with losing space, parking, dealing with deathly noise for who knows how long just so he can make more money????? He should have made a clear contract around this plan he had to add another unit when he rented it to me. Sadly, landlords have become very greedy, I don't know where they get so much money to buy multiple homes but most families in Canada today can't afford the outrageous downpayments being asked to own a home!!!! I don't necessarily feel sorry for landlords. NOW pay taxes on your income from these homes and you have more of a right to complain I say.
