This is just plain evil. America went in one generation from hopeful and peace loving nation to Putin's best friend. Sickening.\n\nWhat does Trump think his actions are going to do? Most of the world now hates him. Most of the world now hates Elon, and Tesla. He's a destroyer, not a builder.\n\nRepublican party and everyone working in right wing media, you happy now? Im uk, canadian cousins, best people on the planet. Widely regarded as just being the nicest country on the planet, from france and england, they have taken the best of both, determination and grit but always keeping things polite. The most reliable dependinal country ever. The us have had the luckiest neighbours on the planet. And no 1 of worlwide neighbours. For trump/elon to screw both ukraine and canada in the same week. 1/2: Myself and the saner half of the US that read, understood, and voted against Proj 2025 understands why they need to levy retaliatory tariffs especially as a Michigander who's lived less than 4 hours from Canada all her life, who has family in Quebec and Ontario, and is a job-seeking policy professional and international trade nerd who now cannot in good faith seek a job in the federal government. We have been looking and still do look to Canada as a model quite a bit and love Canada and Canadians to pieces. We Michiganders especially in the central and eastern UP and Detroit and Ann Arbor area are friends, coworkers, and family of Canadians. Some are even dual citizens. It is sad that it's come to this. \n\n2/2: I still personally just can't wrap my head around how a trade deal Trump put together himself and called the best (the USMCA in question) is all of a sudden so bad. Logic doesn't work with these types of people... Trump is completely unreasonable. There is no sense dealing with him, period. If it is going to be 25% or even 50% with reciprocal tariffs, we simply DO NOT import American goods into Canada (if our retailers don't order them, there is nothing they can do) and if we export, the consumer is paying those tariffs and we continue to manufacture. I honestly think that is the best, maybe the only, solution. If tariffed countries stop buying American goods, maybe Trumputin will reconsider. And if he doesn't, he doesn't. He isn't known for his brain power.

Trump succeeded in getting Canada and Mexico to protect the US border, something the US couldn't do for decades. Claiming that drugs were flooding into the US from Canada is another Trump lie that the media promotes constantly. Trump is a dangerous fool, thinking he will buddy up with Russia and come out ahead. I believe that the ultimate wet dream of Trump is to have a bigger nation ie. performing hostile takeovers of neighboring countries and of strategic importance for him (Greenland, Canada, Panama Canal and others). For that to function, he has agreed with his best buddy Putin to allow him his share of the Europian countries. China will probable be on the same hostile takeover trip all over the pacific as well.
