We were crossing into Canada by Niagara, as soon as the Canadian border guard saw our British passports, before we had even passed them over he said you folks British, no need for that nonsense, were not like that bunch of tight arses over there, gesturing towards the US, come on in and have a great stay ? love Canadians just for that ?

Canadian's are losing everything. Immigration needs to end. This country can't afford to provide for more immigrants. As lifelong Canadian. I can't pay more taxes to provide for people that are going to draw down our standard of living. Working for less than the going rate. And eventually take part of my Canada pension. Fix the country you live in. Immigrants are moving here and instead of assimilating to this country. They move here and try to change this country. Making us say happy holidays. No it's merry Christmas. Remove Cross's from Catholic hospitals. Ect... And the worst not standing during the national anthem. Don't stand then you don't really want to be here. And I will pay for your ticket out!!!

I am from NYC and I always wanted to visit the Maritimes since I was in 3rd grade in 1987-88 when I saw them on a Atlas that I had ordered. In 2006 I got to fulfill that dream. I started in Halifax and I toured Cape Breton Island, Antigonish, the Acadian country and the Cabot Trial.\nMy tour guide a warm friendly former Lieutenant in the Canadian Army made the trip for me! We went to PEI and rode bikes on beautiful trials. We crossed the Confederation bridge stepped foot on New Brunswick and crossed right back to Halifax.

Blockade this crossing, those in the area now need to stand against this viral invasion. Can you imagine if real Canadians blocked Roxham Road and were arrested for blocking those possibly carrying Coronav...What a jokw we are under this muppet Turdeau, sorry Mr. Poopwater...sir...Sir Poopwater..directumly translated.

This is very scary! Unfortunately, we cannot close the border as essential food and medical supplies come from the US to fill our grocery stores and pharmacies! I AGREE that it is NOT RIGHT to let immigrants to cross the borders freely right now as the Prime Minster has said that only Canadians, permanent residents and diplomats are only allowed to return.

Why then aren’t thousands of Canadians at that illegal crossing trying to stop it? Looks like the Canadian people are allowing it as well.

With the US air ban that should help in eliminating illegal border crossings. Plus it looks like the Canadian /US border will soon be shut down to non-essensial travel. So this and any other illegal border crossings must be shut down.

Maybe Canada, or a private citizen/group, should sue Clinton County of New York State for creating a health hazard for Canadians by allowing illegal immigrants to travel to the illegal border crossing. It might seem petty but it just might prompt some type of reaction.

And with each one they will continue to further be a burden on Canada and our taxes will need to go up to pay for their welfare. Soon our CPP wont be there because of the new Canadians who come here illegally. Our government should be taking steps to close that border crossing point.

50 000 dollars to set up household..they just cross illegally Canadian border, and already crossed 70 000 of them that is. 3 750 000 000...4 billion..who pays for that.?????????

People who cross the border illegally are not Canadian citizens and we should pay them 0.

What I would like to know is why in the case of roxum road crossing we never saw any US officials there stopping people from illegally leaving the US hmmm! We had the RCMP there all be it as bellboys but they were a least present. I am glad I love Canada and the fact I dont want to leave, this is tought o watch because as a Canadian with Canadian values when we see people in trouble this nation has always offered help to others less fortunate. It is what makes us unique and respected by the world or at least it was until Trudeau got in.

@The Fifth Estate: CBSA? You should clearly say what that is, for it isn't obvious. A search of Wikipedia turned up a page for what's surely meant, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canada_Border_Services_Agency. I know of Canadian border crossings (between Ca. and the US) so had normal exchanges with some customs officers, but I never knew the name of the agency (of the govt) that they worked for, so CBSA meant basically nothing to me. Otherwise, the overall report is fine, and such illegal immigration tactics must be stopped.

Is that supposed to be a scandal?\n\nWe accept illegal immigrant crossing the border from USA and we put them in hotels, give them even more money than we give to people who paid the government all their life.\n\nWe put an immigrant as the immigration minister.\n\nAnd after that we are supposed to be surprised about something like that?\n\nI would send Ahmed Hussen back in his original country. \n\nI would send those who cross the border illegally directly in prison in shackles and leave their belonging where they stand. I would give them a treatment similar the country they come from, not a five star hotel treatment. Then send every illegal immigrant in their country. Strip immigrant, facilitating illegal immigration, from the citizenship and ban them from entering Canada for 10 years and ban them from ever getting citizenship.\n\nBut we don't ever strip someone of his Canadian citizenship if they committed crimes.\n\nBUT COMMON SENSE IS NOT THE STRENGTH OF THE LIBERALS. \nWE HAVE A CRIMINAL AS A PRIME MINISTER.

Canada, with our softness and above reality political correctness is it's own worst enemy.! \nIn China it's a way of life corruptions,,Chinese business men makes every months dinner reunions to discuss and celebrate how they've scammed western countries companies, this is not a joke..\nOur gentleness is not in tune with how the rest of the peoples of this planet are behaving.!\nI aint no racist, but i do have a little critical thinking, lately Canada is not acting in it's best future interest allowing anyone's to cross our border and being welcoming to peoples with invaders mentality and beliefs... \nWe even tolerate the Ontario islamic party that vow the destruction of our culture and our way of life...\nGo read their agenda,,any Canadian in for sharia.???\nIt's time to wake up before it's to late like in Europe.!

Well done Fifth Estate. The Chinese have completely taken over. I watch the border crossing show sometimes and when they come back from “vacationing “ in China and pretend that they haven’t brought anything with them and when their bags are inspected they have tons of stuff and have way exceeded the limits and they barely get a verbal reprimand. Let me see a Canadian whose family has been here for 9 generations get away with this. They are dishonest, money laundering scam artists. Yet, Canada still welcomes them with open arms. When will the Canadian government wake up? Having them take over this country is an insult to hard working Canadians and other honest immigrants. When they commit a crime of any type they should be deported. They’re always bragging about how rich their country is, then why do they want to come here? We haven’t invaded their country! Not that any sane person would want to.

Trudeau lied to immigrants about Canada. And he lied to Canadians about immigration. And then there's Trump. Some illegals in the USA feared imminent deportation so they gambled by crossing the northern border. There are no legitimate refugees who originate from the USA. You might be fleeing prosecution, but not persecution.

Everyone should have access to legal aid. That's a given. There's no way to justify any of the other payments while Canadians are living below the poverty line and can't qualify for welfare. Our Veterans are waiting over a year for every application they make for services. Somebody has their priorities mixed up. And why aren't we prosecuting people who cross the border illegally? If I did it, I would be charged.

You're supposed to have an emotional response to this and reflexively demand that these individuals get to stay despite the fact that they broke the law to get in. However it's important to note that every time someone like this man selfishly breaks the law to cross the border another man with a family just like his, that is going through the process legally gets screwed over. This is what happens when people listen to the left's fabricated, emotionally potent, oversimplifications with regards to policy. The people you claim to care about and want to be charitable towards, get hurt. This is one of the fundamental reasons why politicians like Justin Trudeau are such human garbage. Our borders need to be tightened for the good over everyone involved, especially Canadians. To do otherwise will just hurt people in the long run.

As a Canadian i do hope the best for everyone but the fact that our government is just allowing anyone who dam well feels like it to cross into our country is just sick and most of the people are destroying motels racking up bills and its Canadian tax payers that must flip the bill none of us should be happy about that i so hate Justin Trudeau for turning Canada into a joke he should be fixing this country and stop helping the rest of the world he has no god dam right doing all that he did.

Mexico City is a good city to live in..many opportunities..my sister in law is Mexican..she loves her country...nothing to escape from unless you are a criminal\n...no reason to cross the border unless you fall in love with a Canadian

we have 70 seniors who died this month from neglect being left in apartments on their own with no AC during the heat wave but people who just illegally cross borders deserve better than our seniors who have spent their lives paying taxes and helped grow our country. Cant have these people at risk of dying in their country but its totally fine to sacrifice our own canadian citizens though\n\ntrudeau is an a**hole

As a Canadian, I sincerely hope Trudeau is gone next election. He is so out of his depth in almost everything he does or touches. And by the way. Mexicans are now flying to Canada and crossing the border into the US. How I wish Trump was my Prime Minister.

We need to have about a million Americans cross the border and request asylum! Free Canadian vacation!
2018-07-02 0
I think Justin Trudeau wants more taxpayers. That is why he's inviting people to flood Canada. Those who move there without knowing the cost of living there, are going to be shocked when they see what things cost. \n\nDue to high Canadian price, a lot of Canadians cross into the US to do grocery shopping, and fill up their cars with gasoline. Besides sales tax, Canada also has VAT.

As a Canadian I feel sad for all the families who cross the border seeking refugee status and don’t get accepted, but at the same time you can’t just come into a country illegally, without proper documentation and with no threat back home and expect to become a citizen.

The title is off repeated illegal immigrant crossing U.S. Mexican border and then the U.S Canadian border

The devil is in the details. People need to actually research before making a big decision to cross the border in attempt for asylum..Don't rely on word of mouth. My heart goes out to this guy as I see he will have to remain in Canada for years to hear an unlikely decision. Sincerely a Canadian????

RE: Canadian healthcare, my wife broke both her hips in 2017 in two separate falls, she was admitted immediately to hospital without delay and operated on the next day (half hip replacement), after physio and occupational therapy she was discharged and provided Homecare, 16 times per week plus weekly Day Hospital. Our cost for both operations was roughly $160.00 for parking spots for me so I could visit her and about $140 in Tim Horton doughnuts for staff. The system does not have enough of certain types of specialists thus wait times for those specialists, and there are wait times for elective surgery. The system has not really been reviewed since its inception in the 1960s but making significant changes is the third rail of Canadian politics and a hard look is justified after 70 years. Re: illegal crossings; The gentleman in the video has a problem in that the US and Canada have signed a “safe country” agreement and neither will accept refugees from the other as both Canada and the US are deemed “safe havens”. He crossed illegally, if he had crossed legally he would have been immediately turned back at the border but he clearly entered the country between border crossings and was likely arrested and released on recognizance but not returned immediately as the agreement is silent on illegal entries (yes, seems a touch strange). As many people are leaving the US for Canada the system is overwhelmed. Tent cities have been set up in Quebec and public housing used in Manitoba to house illegal immigrant pending processing - those with criminal records are held for deportation. Canada has accepted roughly 25,000 Syrian refugees from camps in that part of the world. These refugees were first vetted by the UN then Canada. These refugees are completely different from the people crossing the border illegally from the United States. This pales to the 75,000 boat people accepted after the fall of Saigon. Canadians have been generally accepting of refugees but wants the process guided by the rule of law. Immigrants are a separate from refugees and the rules governing their entries into Canada are different.

I'm black Canadian... Of course I would never say racism doesn't exist in Canada... But the Canada that they are describing is foreign to me... Where as As soon as I cross the brother to the state I get racially profile... By the time I get to New York City I'll get stop 3 times on average... So... Again not sure which Canada they are describing...otd a different time now...
