Americans did not launch this trade war . Dumb and dumber did this. trump os the worst POTUS in history

After a couple of years Trump and co will say, that Canada started a trade war against US. Just like they say, that Ukraine and Zelenskyy started the war with Russia. And now some uf US commentators are saying the same. It’s crazy. And there will be no way to get him to remember the facts. He and all who work for him are liars and half truth tellers. I’m not sure how to deal with this. But it is VERY important for all media outlets to keep reminding the facts. Just tell what happens, so there is a record. I think that could help in the end.\nSo here are my 5p:\nUS started trade war against Canada with 25% tariffs.\nRussia annexed Crimean peninsula and attacked Ukraine in 2022. This is the truth, no two ways about these facts.\nTrump and Vance are liars.

Is it a trade war? President Trump says it is not. We have to determine wisely that it is or not. A trade war is always harmful and impacts all over globe. It is harmful for us the people of this country as well.

American's your leader is feeding you lies. More drugs and guns travel north than going south to the US. He is fabricating an excuse. As for tariffs...in Trump's first term HE rewrote the North American free trade agreement and we had to agree to it. NOW he figures it isn't good enough?? American's...your leader is making your country a punch line to a bad joke.

Mr Trudeau, if you go on a trade war with the US you’re definitely gonna get it and lose. All you have to do is lower the tariffs you’re imposing on American goods so Trump won’t impose the same tariffs on you.

The thing is Trump will start directing sales to Russia. It’s the only logical outcome unless Trump wants to walk back his tariffs. Gonna call it now, he’s gonna lift the trade ban with Russia and direct American goods there.

I think the world of good and democratic people should join together against this tyrannical autocratic and completely lying government of the USA find other trade and manufacturing partners- mineral rights of Ukraine to Canada and Europe…. This mr. trump is ruining our lives - and of course - I did not vote for him….

No winners? Your gravy train with the US is over and you have the most to lose. The US has been asking for fair reciprocity with its trading partners but you are causing it to be demanded. Canada has a population about the same as one state California. Trump has opened the US up to extracting and using its own oil, mineral, timber and other resources which we have lots and lots of. Just a matter of time before America is rid of the parasites on its ass.

Now this is how an intelligent and reasonable leader gives a speech! I know Trump doesn't understand how tariffs work, but how can other Republicans in Congress agree to starting trade wars with our closest allies? Russia and China probably can't believe their good fortune. Trade wars with your allies, Trump crapping on NATO and then hanging Ukraine out to dry. How is this allowed to happen? Things are going to get much, much worse.

Canada (and many other countries) spent decades supporting the maintenance of US hegemony. Look what it got us? To a position where we're pretty much greatly dependent on, and at the mercy of the US. We need to invest more in our own country and make our own products. We should also trade with other countries regardless of what the US thinks of those countries. Trump wants Canada to put tariffs on China in the attempt to further impede that country's economic growth so the US will remain the economic hegemony. Never mind that a trade war with China would put Canada in an even worse position. Given the current events, I say we trade with China even more!

It HAS happened before. During Trump's first term, he started a trade war with Canada that lasted a year, IIRC.

Regardless of how you feel about Trudeau, this was a brilliant retort to Trump’s bullshit trade war. I felt even more proud to be a Canadian after hearing this serious pushback from Trudeau. Very well said.

When you ALREADY have tariffs in place against the US you cannot claim Trump is starting a trade war. You started it. Now we have a POTUS with the sand to stand up for us not the world. Republicans understand that things will get tough. Liberals are already snow flakes that were in a melt down from the day Trump took office. We voted them out. I don't think Canadians are going to tolerate much for long unless you open the Treasury and give them money thereby bankrupting them. Drop your tariffs and Trump will drop yours. Is a win win.

I was born in Canada to Ukrainian Immigrants. I have dual citizenship. My loyalty is to both countries. I hate what President Trump has created here. We are now pawns in the game of Trade War. So sad.

I am Canadian, and I want to speak to the USA, as a concerned citizen who valued the relationship that we once had between our two countries: please realize that we do NOT want to declare this as any form of “attack”, that these are solely defensive measures against your current administration’s lack of respect towards us as a people and as a country. \n\nPlease rest assured that we KNOW that not all of you voted for Trump, that there are those of you who realize what your current president is truly doing and do not support it. This is NOT about fentanyl. This NOT about money and how much each country was giving whom. We had a respectable trade deal that we were following, previously signed by Trump. We have always had a positive relationship together, business-wise and friendship-wise. It does make sense. Trump wants to annex Canada, get the NW passage, get Greenland, he just bought Panama Canal… with these trade routes in place he stands to gain over 2 trillion a year.. it’s about greed.

you know how to make sense of all of Trump's actions? if he was a Russian agent following orders from Putin. cut aid to Ukraine, create trade disputes with our allies and trade partners, significant harm to the functioning state of the federal government, etc. how is he still alive?

Not once did he talk about why this is happening? He says he's our friend but saying it is one thing. Actions speak louder Trudeau. Mr. Trump asked you to meet him to get balanced fair trade. As a businessman, Trump was using Fentanyl crisis as a lame excuse. No matter how much fentanyl is controlled across borders he was still guaranteed in imposing the 25% trade tariff. \nCanada govt invested so much into the border security recently and visited multiple times in Washington to discuss this 25% trade tariff but all of them forgot that Trump is a very aggressive and stubborn when it comes to money!\n\nI am glad Trump has made Canada and even Trudeau bold and self dependent now!

Mexico is also hitting back hard..the only winner of this trade war is the super wealthy, but that won’t last, when we all refuse to buy any of the products that benefit them. What the vast majority of people imagined was that the day the United States went to war, it would be with its worst enemies, Russia, Iran, North Korea. Almost no one imagined that the United States would declare war on friendly countries and trading partners. Of course, it is a trade war, but it could escalate into something much worse. Nothing should be ruled out, we have already seen that anything can be expected from Trump and his entourage.
