Somewhat right but not exactly right. According to Trump admin, Trump is actually trying to stop the circumvention of Chinese goods and Chinese drugs coming from Canada. Trudeau promised Trump to work on the drug issue, but I guess he did not if we are seeing the significant import tax on Canada now. And come on Trudeau, you dislike Trump and aren't exactly his friend. You talked back on him on many international stages. Anyways, I wish you two get along eventually and hope the same for US and Canada.

Why can’t we have a real leader like this! Instead we have a belligerent egomaniac Russian asset as president. He shouldn’t have even had 10% of the vote. When will the Western leaders wake up, they still talk about friends. Trump is not a friend. Any time you are on any kind of team, the teammates you want are ones you can trust, ones that will keep their word. One thing that has made the US strong is the allies we have. He have been able to keep these allies because, in general, we have stuck to agreements we have made with other countries historically. If you have an ally that doesn’t fulfill their end of agreements then they are not much of an allie. If Trump is thinking he can “replace” our current allies and just go become allies with Russia—Russia doesn’t have a good track record on following through on agreements in the last few decades.

Stop calling it fentinal and call it what it is DRUGS . When are we going to start hitting them back about all the drugs coming into Canada not to mention all the guns that are so easily obtained in the states which are illegal here. Also put import taxes on imported goods from the US. This tax to be paid by the seller make it income for Canada and not an expense.

How can tariffs that US impose be bad for the US people but Canadian tariffs are good for Canadians? Isn't it going to hurt Canadian families also?

I’m a Canadian and no fan of Prime Minister Trudeau. It’s unfortunate the best speech he ever gave was after he resigned as Prime Minister. What he has said in this speech is absolutely true, despite the fact, I think Trump is doing some good things for the USA. This Terrif war with your neighbour is stupid. Unfortunately for us in Canada our Prime Minister has not given us the tools and freedom to grow economically and prosper the way we should have. Canadians should be living like Kings, but unfortunately are living paycheque to paycheque because of the stranglehold that our Prime Minister has put on businesses and its citizens. Now Canada has very little leverage, I believe to fight this Terrif war. Trump will soon state that due to Canada's illegal tariffs that are stopping the supply of strategic goods necessary for the security of the United States, he is ordering the US military to invade Canada to secure the supply of those assets. As a canadian citizen, our prime minister has a good look & speaks well. But that's all. A lot of us are suffering up here. Everything is expensive. No jobs. More tax. More regulations. I am a Canadian and I love America and the American people. I hope we can put this behind us sooner rather than later there is no need for any tension between us. We always have each other‘s back. With that said, I would like to see Canada step up to certain obligations, including with NATO, but as far as a trade work goes, this is not good.
