Great video. I am currently live in Czech Republic, but would like to move to Canada to get some life experience, improve my language skills. I would like to stay here for few years. But I do not know where to start, finding apartment, job, etc.

Quebec is far from being the best province in Canada. Montreal is great but their is a disconnect with the rest of the province. The biggest export of Quebec is young people. Once they graduate from University they leave as the job opportunities are in Ontario and western Canada. The Quebec pension plan now pays out more than it takes in. The academics and politicians are hell bent to push the ‘vive la Quebec and French Uber alles’ that it turns off business and industry. An example is the pharmaceutical industry was all headquartered at one time in Quebec and it moved out to Ontario. The personal income tax rates are higher than most provinces and health care is not the best either.

I simply watched the first 3 minutes of your video and knew that right off the mark YOU ARE PERFECTLY RIGHT. Ontario alone has so many cab drivers that are foreign trained doctors that are badly needed as it has the worst healthcare system in Canada outside of the northern territories. Immigrants coming to Canada are also the best job creators in Canada and as such are much needed since the Canadian government has repeatedly failed to support its own industries and people since the 1950's. GREAT JOB LADIES.

A lot of these reasons apply to Canadian born people as well. Outside of doctors, basically every top Canadian born student I know has moved to the USA for jobs - myself included. There are large economic issues here and you can imagine if it is that bad for Canadian born people, it is going to be even harder for immigrants. \n\nIt's unfortunate and I wish the system would improve. But also nobody is forced to immigrate to Canada. Constructive discussions is great but some people just want to spit on the way for the sake of spitting

It's not just immigrants who leave Canada. My parents were born in Canada. My grandparents were born in Canada and six of my great-grandparents too. I was born in Toronto. Got my first degree from a Canadian university. Then a Master degree with a teaching assistantship at an American university. Then got a scholarship to study at a UK university. in the UK asked to conduct a graduate seminar for MSc students in quantitative analysis and computer applications at a major UK university. Then appointed senior research officer and leader of a research program in operational research. Then appointed principal scientist for a UK government agency. Eight years studying and working abroad in senior positions. Time to return to Canada. But could I get a job? I could not. \nAnd so I have a base in another Commonwealth country with a better climate, lower living costs, less tax and less government regulation. And from that base, I have worked in 20 countries all over Asia. With none of the bullshit I hear from the likes of Justin Trudeau. And none of the age discrimination common in Canada.

I like how y’all have created this video by not applying a negative undertone rather more of an informative approach to caution prospective movers of what potentially awaits them. All I would like to highlight is the fact that some people will experience all these points as negative aspects or maybe even one or two that might lead to the breaking point.\nIt all depends on where you come from and how life was in your “home” country.\nYou might come from a higher tax environment with non existent healthcare and education. From that perspective, 40% taxes might look better and the healthcare might be great or crap depending on what your health issues are. I personally haven’t had any struggles with most of these aspects - finding a great job was relatively easier, (key word - relatively) the healthcare system worked for me when I needed it to, I was mentally prepared for the high taxes, I culturally adapted to the point where people thought I was Canadian and didn’t realize I came in from a very different environment. I’m sure this cultural adaptation helped me with my job and made it easier to live here.\nAll in all, you can say I’ve had the “perfect” immigrant experience that most people would dream of. But what do i think really? Personally, I have come to realize that Canada at the moment does not fit into my personal goals and values and that is okay. Loneliness away from people you love can be tough. It just isn’t the same feeling making new friends and hanging out with coworkers who are much older than you are and in a different place in life. I’m very close to my family and friends who I’ve grown up with and are on the other side of the world. My parents are getting older and I want to spend as much time with them as possible. For that reason, I might consider being somewhere closer to them. I’d perhaps consider coming back here some day when I’ve got my own family and kids which I currently don’t have. To me, that’s a personal value high on the list. I guess my only takeaway from this video and advise to people looking at each of these points - take each one and compare it with your home country. If you think you’re better off in Canada, then move - it’s a great place! If not, think about it real hard and weigh out the pros and cons.

I lived everywhere in Canada except the Territories, Manitoba, and N.B., and I always come back to Quebec. It's NOT that it's better in everything. It's just that it's better in everything that counts for ME!!!\n- It's the CHEAPEST place to rent or own but has great wages and a high minimum. \n- Most of our cities are in the St-Lawrence valley. That means we have a LOT of local produce in-season. \n- We have a diversified economy. Less manufacturing and heavy stuff than Ontario, but LOTS of high-tech and knowledge-based jobs. With a HUGE service industry, bloated by the constant influx of tourists.\n- It's got the BEST quality of social life in the country. It's an all-year party and club season. \n- It's got FOUR real and distinct seasons.\n- It's almost as beautiful outside as BC. Until autumn and the colors, then it's better for a few weeks.\n- It's got the BEST social net in the country. \n- It's got the most beautiful women too. No question whatsoever about that one.\nAnd it's the SAFEST... That and being cheap to live in are the two main points. I'm bilingual, so I don't care about the French-only oddities, they are few and far between. It's 2021, not 1980. The Internet and Cable tv from the US changed EVERYTHING. ALL of the kids and young adults will answer you in English if you aren't acting like a jerk. So will almost anyone under 60.

Yeah doctors and engineers from other countries end up being taxi drivers. If you persist and are determined Canada can be great. But it can also suck. It’s true for Canadians too. If you have a good job you can have a good life. If not…. Look at the homeless and people struggling and living paycheck to paycheck. Canada ? can be great. Or it can really suck

I am from the United States. I have advanced degrees. I am actively seeking a job in Canada to see if I would be happier there. The US may is great compared to a broken country, but not to other developed nations in my opinion. I wanted to see if the pros outweigh the cons in Canada. I hope moving there won't be a mistake, but I have to keep that in mind that it might be. Thank you for your honest video.

I will be leaving Canada within a year or so after declaring non-residency and bring my business with me. My view is that Canada is a good place to live a normal life. Healthcare covers your peace of mind, even if the waitlist is long and bureaucratic. Social benefit is not as generous as people suggest sometimes (at least in Canada unless you're on actual welfare where you can't work but you can't rise your way up easily and you're forever stuck in 1.5k CAD/month... which would be ofc much better than other struggling countries but immigrants often aspire for greater things than that. \n\nEven though I was an Asian immigrant, I never faced significant racism afaik (I could be socially naive however), but there are definitely limitations of opportunities. It's not too difficult to find entry to intermediate jobs, at least for me but that's probably because I did schooling here in Canada. And I was able to network aggressively and learned to be an extrovert, so that also helped. But still, Canadian living cost is high (and I'm saying this from Calgary... imagine what it's like in Vancouver/Toronto). Is it doable? Ofc. 50-70k CAD/year is quite doable ESPECIALLY in Calgary, Alberta. But it'd be difficult to achieve financial independence and true wealth. This is true everywhere ofc but more so in Canada compared to, say, USA where living cost is lower and wage is higher with more opportunities. It's a great place to live normally. If you wanna become exceptional (wealth, customized goods and services, etc), it become harder and costs more. \n\nEven now when I now own business after struggling to get here over 10 years that generates income that I need to achieve financial freedom, tax becomes frightfully bad. Alberta (that imposes lowest tax rate compared to other Canadian provinces (not including territories for obvious reason) is comparable to California in USA that is among the highest in all US states. And let's be real; Alberta is nowhere close of being California. Imagine the taxes in BC/Ontario shiver. \n\nOnce my tax rate becomes high enough to justify moving, I will pull the trigger. Still window-shopping where I wanna go and I have some lists but it's gonna happen especially as Canada will have to deal with their struggling economy, further distancing from US and their government mismanagement that continues to cost the society. I will not have any part in it. I may come back once in a while for visit or potentially retire depending on what the future looks like but right now, I just don't see my longterm future here.

It’s too bad you didn’t have a great experience in Canada. It’s a beautiful country to live and work in. Study, get a good job and work hard and you’ll get good benefits. Medical system is worth every penny and more. Weather varies greatly. West Coast is the best. Yes, it does rain. But everything is green. But with climate change, it is quickly changing. \n\nSo if you’re willing to put in the effort and patience. All good things will come in time. Even if the taxes kill you.

Canada can be brutal. It has been a great experience for me but that is because I work in IT. It has been excruciating for my sister and her husband. \n\nIt has been impossible to get a job here for them

A/A. Great topic and information! Thank you! For you to say you’ve been here for 15 years and haven’t experienced racism then you’re lucky. I have been living here for 28 years (that’s most of my life, I came her as a young child). My sister’s and I have experienced first hand racism due to our hijab in elementary school, high school, after 9-11 during job interviews (myself and my brothers due to their name being Muhammed). Over time things have gotten better alhumdolillah but racism exists everywhere and many have experienced it. Where there are people that use racial slurs or acts of discrimination etc, there are many more that will support you and guide you. I love Canada and wouldn’t live anywhere else but to say it’s not there and every case is dealt with the way it was dealt with our London family, is not the case. If it was, what happens with them would not have happened. May Allah help us treat one another with tolerance and love as Islam intends it to be. Once again thank you for creating videos like this to help our fellow Pakistanis.

I lived in Canada for years then moved to the US. Your statements, unlike some people on youtube, were the best I have heard. I agree people are just people as I have met some real ignorant Canadians and the same in America. You did not include the sales tax in Canada, which is extremely high nor the plastice bottle deposits which I found to be strange. At any rate great job.

Okay. A lot of people here have no clue how the immigration system works both in the US and in Canada. “He should just have come here legally”. Well, most of the time a legal path to emigrating to the US/Canada just does not exist, and its getting more and more impossible to be granted asylum. In the US you can’t just apply for a work visa, you can’t just apply for a green card. You got to be eligible to apply for it. For a work visa you need a job offer first, you need proof of income and most of the time the employer will have to prove they couldn’t find an American to take the position. To get a green card you either have to get married to an American, invest at least $500,000 or try applying for asylum (which is almost impossible to get nowadays). ALSO to apply for asylum you need to be either inside the US or at a US port of entry. Try to be less “patriotic” and more empathetic. People flee their countries because of war, violence, cartels, gangs, terrorism, etc. They are desperate and want to protect their families and have a better life. If you were in their shoes and staying in your home country put your family in great harm you would have done the same thing. People need to stop judging, stop being selfish and start leading with empathy.

What makes me laugh is the guy thinks he can come to Canada for house, job, food, clothing, with the whole fam damily\nand presto everything is great. Geez how many Canadians have 15 grand saved up. We have many people living on the\nstreets here as is. I am a TPS holder from el salvador for about 20 years with 3 kids born in Tennessee. and that program will end in September 2019, , i have to go back to my country and there is nothing i can do to stay in this country usa that have gave me everything what i have ; a beautiful family and a house that i am selling for 300,000 a nice car Toyota camry selling for 7000, a Nissan Frontier selling for 8000, a HVAC technical diploma and a good hvac job(60,000a year) but i just woke up and i found out that this dream already ends, ,,,,,,,,,,,, but i am not crying feeling like a Donald Trump victim.........guest what? Canada have a point based migration system that i qualify,,,,,,,requirement are; 60 percent English, high school, a trade skill training, or a degree or a diploma, no felonies, no debts, 2 or more years of experience in a skilled trade or profession, and 15000 dollars, also you need a a job offer on a level A,B and C for Atlantic Canada and a job offer level A and B for the rest of the provinces, i got all of these requirements,,,since i need a red seal for my hvac trade i only qualify for the Atlantic Canada on a level C,,,,,,,,,,,,i already fill it out all the papers and transcripts my high school and took my English test in Nashville,,,,,,,,,,,so i guess will be in a matter of weeks that i will receive the letter off invitation to emigrate to Canada,,,,,,so amigos gringos i can kiss goodbye uncle sam land,,,,wish me good luck,,,,as soon as i enter Canadá i will get on my knees and kiss the land of that great nation that i will settle in New Brunswick with my lovely babies and my lovely wife, i will show my babies to love and give their lives for Canada very well,,,,psss and don’t worry about the 315,000 dollars amigos gringos, uncle sam will tax that

Hmmm, come to Canada from your 3rd world country and we will give your family a one time payment of $50,000. More money than you have ever seen in your life time. Literally like winning the lottery. No wonder all these border jumpers are clambering here. I mean if, say Switzerland, was offering you, yes you, a cheque for $50k to come live in their country wouldnt you take it if you didnt have much here in Canada? Oh great. This was posted on my birthday. Listen: i've lived here for nearly 15 years. \nFirst thing I noticed when I came here was the diner. Menu was pages and pages and pages. A plate could feed a family of four. \nGet a job with healthcare. It's not so difficult. Come on now. Obamacare has to go! \nCoworkers of mine can't afford it. \nYou are still far too liberal/socialist.\nOh, and right... i couldn't dare live without my Amazon Prime. \nHealthcare SUCKS in Canada. In the US it is GREAT.
