The ignorance of some narrow-minded pro-Trump individuals commenting here prevents them from seeing the economic tragedy that the people of the United States are about to suffer. This has nothing to do with popularity approval but rather with the devastating financial consequences that these tariffs will bring to American families who do not belong to the oligarchy.

I am a US citizen and I am terrified about everything that is happening in this country. Trump is concerned about the supply of fentanyl from Canada and Mexico but has done nothing about its inexhaustible demand by Americans. No policy to discourage Americans from consuming it.

This has nothing to do with Canada or the Canadian people. This is a pure transactional move because that is how Trump sees things. He needs the money to finance his agenda and he has been told that the money does not exist in terms of what the US Congress can provide. They won't cut military spending and they wouldn't dare touch SS or Medicare. Therefore, Trump is resorting to the only available option which is to have the American people pay for it all and that is what he is doing with these tariffs. He doesn't need to worry about reelection so he couldn't care less how much pain he is inflicting on the very people who voted for him. Elections have consequences.

All I can say is I am sorry, embarrassed, and ashamed of my broken country's politicians in Washington, D.C. at present.
