While I appreciate the spirit of your critiques of the city, I would say that many of the problems you’ve cited are the same ones in all North American cosmopolitan cities: the cost of living is too high, and social services don’t keep up with the population. If there is a city in N.A. not afflicted with these issues, I say give it time. People will start leaving the big cities for the smaller ones which are usually less equipped in general.

Canada is a natural resource economy but yet we keep cutting deals with Americans to give them cheaper minerals and resources when we should be increasing the price of minerals in resources because we fund most of the American infrastructure with her oil lumber in minerals but of course the Canadian government cuts deals and gives them below market rates when we should be giving them above market rates because where else are they going to go for imports that cost less for transportation because they’re not going to start importing more from the UK or any other countries overseas, and they definitely won’t be importing more from Mexico because America has a problem with Mexico apparently

Sweet sister, these people who talk like that just need someone to take their own frustrations out on....they don't bother to think about the facts before they say such things. It can be difficult to ignore it sometimes. You work hard, and you are constantly busy with work, school, revision, and a family.....yet, they think that they can dictate to you what kind of videos you should make and when. Making videos is in itself a lot of work, and sometimes you have to remake the video if it doesn't come out right. You're doing your best to help others who are wanting to relocate, and to support others who are having difficulties, as well as keeping up with your channels. People don't realise how much work is involved with each of those channels, nor do they realise that you are a human being who has a busy life. I'm glad that you're telling people these things, because they need to start thinking about others.

I think if you put them in a commune and quarantine them and put them through due process,temporarily help with housing after you do these things for our own citizens. and let them get job and start paying there own way like everybody else and not sending their money back to people across the border by working for cash under the table. That's why they need to be registered. They need to be registered to keep them from doing bad things to people and not paying the consequences because they're not registered legally.This is some of the problem.

I did my masters here in US and have been working for past 5 yrs, in total 7 years. My company just initiated my i140 application which will take around 3 yrs to complete then the wait for GC will start for 15yrs (for Indians only). During this time we are at the employers mercy. We do get high salaries. But we are in a perpetually limbo. Its hard to find a spouse, start a family or invest in property as your future here is uncertain. \n\nThe H1B lottery system was introduced to keep the selection fair, as there are limited number of applications accepted each year. Hence it is a gamble for immigrants wanting to come here to study and work. The chance of getting H1B is almost 50/50. H1B visa is a temporary work visa, it was designed to be applicable for 3-4yrs until one gets the GC. But because of GC country backlog folks are on it for 15-20yrs.\n\nThe Greencard country limits were introduced in 2009 as the US government felt they needed diversity in the country. They were scared that US will be filled with Indians and Chinese immigrants. Hence the country caps on each country on GC. So if one is born in Nepal, Sri Lanka or Pakistan they get their GC within 1-3 yrs. Where as Indians need to wait 15-20yrs. But here is the wired part, they only consider the country of birth NOT citizenship. Ex: My friend was born in Oman and was raised in India, he is Indian and has Indian citizenship. He got his GC in 1 yr. \n\nThese H1B policies are not a priority to the US government as H1B folks do not have voting rights. They do not have any incentives to change the legacy policies. And we as immigrants in US have no voice except to sit back and pray we get lucky. \n \nThanks for shining a light on this issue. Appreciate it!!

I have mixed feelings about this video. This video does a good job outlining the immigration process but it does not highlight any of the negative consequences of immigration that Canada is experiencing. One of the main reasons why cost of living is so high in Toronto and Vancouver is precisely because we have so many immigrants coming in without enough housing supply. This is by design because politicians and the upper class have a vested interest in keeping real estate prices high because so much of their net worth is tied up in the housing market.\n\nAnother negative is that employers hire immigrants working low skilled jobs and pay them less than Canadians because the immigrants are willing to be taken advantage of since they're just happy to have a job in Canada which pays better than their country. \n\nAnother myth that gets repeated is that Canadian takes immigrants out of compassion and unfortunately a lot of Canadians believe this. It was never about compassion, it's about bringing more people to 1) pay taxes to support our social welfare as Canadian birth rates decline and boomers retire, 2) keep housing costs high and 3) pay immigrants lower wages for the same work because immigrants are fine being exploited since they have a job in a first world country.\n\nAnother problem is the cultural shift. In the most immigrant-dense regions you'll find that many immigrants themselves surprisingly don't want more immigrants coming to Canada because they see these negative consequences. The people who are most pro-immigration have no problem cramming 8+ people in a basement and exploiting their labour because they make enough money to live in communities that immigrants can't afford, and so they don't have to deal with the cultural shift that's taking place. This is NOT the fault of immigrants, but rather the politicians who put economic growth over quality of life. Over HALF the people in the GTA weren't born in Canada, so they didn't go through our school system and have no connection to our culture. Canada is unfortunately going to become very racist over the next 10-20 years as Canadians start feeling like outsiders in their own country. It's somehow considered racists to criticize the effect of multiculturalism on social unity, yet the cultures we accept in Canada only became distinct cultures because of monoculturalism.

I had opportunities in the past to move to the US but I did not go for them, I think sometimes due to simple inertia. If I had another chance now, I would definitely turn it down. The country south of here is facing dark times. Political polarization started decades ago already with the Tea Party, but now it reached a point when there are forces that have shaken the very trust in the most fundamental aspects of America, the ideas and institutions it was built on and which are still strong and valid. For centuries America was the beacon for freedom and equal rights. Now a large portion of the population is being made believe that the country became deeply corrupt and only a strong man can make things right. As long as people keep their heads in the sand , don't look around and allow things to develop in this dangerous direction (on top of the gun culture, health care, etc), the future of the US looks pretty bleak.

Employers dont hire people without experience because of Justin Trudeau and his dam skilled immigration crap. Now there is too much skilled people looking for the same jobs. I went to a local job fair in a small building and it was overloaded with immigrants. There was only 7 employers hiring and in a room about the size of a classroom for 30 students. Yet there was 500 immigrants. You couldn't walk without pushing people. Even the hallways and the outside parking lot was crowded.... This is ridiculously way too much! We not to put a stop to the immigration and start making people go back to wherever they came from! And Justin Trudeau needs to be put in jail! I am a bilangual white french Canadian with perfect fluent french and english. I was born here in Ottawa and even i am struggling when trying to find a job and Justin Trudeau keeps trying to get more people in. That guy is seriously mentally unfit to be prime minister. He only got in because of his father's connections!

Glad you mentioned racism: Canada is a ewhite nation because it destroyed the original indigenous population and i am amongst those that believes its far too late to change now. We nearly succeeded. Starting to protect other colours now and accept immigrants of other colors is a mistake. Tyler, thanks for your entertaining and fun videos. My grandfather is a dual citizen but has never renewed his passport or anything and when asked to do so, he outright refuses. He says he hated living there. We live in the Vancouver area of Canada right now. My wife is finishing her registered nursing degree and we are considering moving to washington state, within an hour or so of the Canadian border on temporary work visas (TN1) for a few years. The main reason is the cost of living differences, mostly in housing but a lot of things are cheaper down there too. For example though, the costs of rent or to buy a house in the Vancouver area is insane - 1.5 million is generally a starting point. The cost of a detached house south of the border between Bellingham and Blaine starts around $400,000 ($500,000 CDN). If renting, it's crazy cheaper than here. \n\nThe area we are considering going to is very close to the canadian border, I've never heard of major violence problems in the area. Like one of the other comments you read, we're basically considering moving there to take advantage of a lower cost of living and higher salaries for a bit to try to get ahead. Living in the Vancouver area is such an absolute DRAIN on our finances that it is intolerable. If we didn't move to the US, we'd have to find another place in Canada to go to, but we do like the climate on the coast here. I'd actually just keep commuting to Canada daily to work in Canada since it's so close to the border, and writing the bar exam to be able to practice law in any US state except California, Massachusets, or New York is a pain in the backside to even be able to write it, let alone prepare for it. Just easier for me to keep working here unless we decided to try to make a permanent move somewhere further from the border.\n\nIf we decided to change our minds and apply to stay in the US in the future, there are a lot of the other considerations that other people have raised on top of my own ability to continue as a lawyer. Gun violence in the US is crazy, extreme polarized political views and increasing intolerance against diversity of race, culture, religion, (and while it doesnt affect us directly, it bothers us how LGBTQ people are increasingly targeted with backwards policies and by certain segments of the public), the health care system in canada has it's problems but it's also got it's strong points. We'll never go bankrupt because of a health care issue since we can move back to Canada IF it's ever a problem. Thankfully we are all pretty healthy so it shouldn't be much of a problem for a while at least. And we wouldn't even move there at all if her employment as a nurse doesn't offer health care and better pay than she can obtain here. \n\nOur kids will probably attend post-secondary (college/university) in Canada as dual citizens unless they get a scholarship to a top US school. The costs of post-secondary in Canada appears to be much cheaper than in the US and we have some good colleges/universities that consistently rank high globally.

i dont wanna be that guy before i start but i think we already have a hard time finding jobs and housing as it is but all these new people we cant keep up there now making there way all over the east coast the resort in my area is ran by like 80% staff now no offence but thats hundreds of jobs that we need i have friends that work 12 hours a day at 3 different gas stations just to pay there bills only making about 100$ a day when they could have a job that pays 12$ a hour instead of 9$ see my point i thought it was very good

If you understood the s*** that was going down in Venezuela, you would be fighting for these people to have Asylum here. Do you know how much of Texas is unoccupied? Like SO much of it. It's not a very densely populated state. It can take years for Asylum Seekers to go through the process legally. Don't they deserve some level of safety while the process is sorted out? And instead we keep instituting policies that make things even more difficult and create even more tension. Nobody is fully in the right here necessarily, but people really need to start approaching this with much more empathy and Humanity. If you guys really have such a problem with all the migrants being in Texas, there's always Wyoming. Nobody lives in Wyoming. There's plenty of space in Texas, of course, since most people live around the Metropolitan areas.... But Texas isn't always known for its warm fuzzies. Wyoming is just Cheyenne and a bunch of wind. I certainly don't see the harm.

If too many Mexicans come over construction will be done too fast and there will be more houses made and then house prices will drop and this can't happen because I'm rich and I benefit off of limited housing. If hard working people start making houses at near minum range I won't make enough money. Such a slap in the face to homeless people who were born, worked in, and lived in America all their life. Where is their “free ticket” to housing and resources? America makes it hard for their own; especially Blacks, to survive. Always some kind of impossible agreement they want you to agree with to obtain help. As a Black American, homeless and disabled; worked low wage jobs here in America over 30 years; was blocked from receiving my full lump sum disability because they knew it would have been enough to buy myself a home; Have been homeless over a year now and can’t agree to America’s rules for fair housing because their rules aren’t fair for Black Americans altogether. America have set Blacks against Blacks; put them in positions to turn other Blacks away from houses and resources; but all they care about is their job. They know their job requires the impossible for many Blacks to agree to, but they easily and intentionally overlook it. How can I agree to volunteer or work if I’m disabled? I applied for disability because I can no longer work. And…It took forever for me to get that. My long, steady work history will prove that I’m not lazy which is used as their excuse for not helping Blacks. America will bend over backwards to help foreigners while we sleep on the streets. That’s the reason why they went out on a limb to employ people from different countries. They called it diversity when they clearly knew it was racism. They had rather employed foreigners to keep Blacks from progressing. America is reaping its seeds right now. And here i am, in the middle of eastern europe, studied hard, saved up every penny i could, even learned to code , found a good coding job, full remote these days, im in spain now, the beach is in my view.. i managed to do all of those things in the past decade, and still i was rejected by the us embrassy every single year, that makes a total of 11 times so far, not a word as to why, just rejected.. tbh i no longer want to move to the states.. i started begging you guys at 18, im 29 now.. i could’ve invested my talents and work in the us, while paying taxes there, instead i work for a us company in a very cheap part of the world while paying a small fraction of taxes to my home country.. keep letting those guys in and avoid us.. soon enough you wont have anyone defending you from the issue’s because the people that make good money and pay high taxes are leaving to make space for the homeless shelters and to avoid being stolen from by the mob

If you want more people, will there be more houses to keep up with the increase in people ?\nCondos don't count by the way. Condos and apartments are a temporary living situation for people. \nI'm talking, actual decent affordable homes for people to live in and start families. \nWe do not have that yet. So why increase immigration if you don't have sustainable housing for Canadians?

There has been little investment in infrastructure to match the demand of population requirements of the new immigrants. Health care is unable to keep up with the increasing demand. Furthermore the immigrants are needed to work at low paying jobs ($16/hour) when it has been conservatively estimated that workers need a minimum of $23/ hour to just survive. Housing starts cannot be met as there are not enough trained workers to fulfill demand. New residents are finding the country's living resources lacking. Taxes are very high in comparison to wages as well.

Mental health issues keep change away.\nEU Economic Commissioner came to Canada and said Canada was not diverse enuff. Both public and private companies reacted by stop hiring black ppl for 6 months. Entrepreneurs became a big push. Only to guide start ups producing the same non diverse products.

I can fully relate and agree with everything you said and more not said. I never thought I would hate being Canadian or my home country but Justin pushed me past the line. As we allow massive immigration to counteract an aging, non-productive population, because of that negative formula, we just keep going deeper and deeper into debt. But it seems that most Canadians want that because we keep voting in the ‘robbers’. It’s time for Canadians to understand that soon a death tax will come in where all your asset value in taxes will go to the government. But that’s coming and is the only way for the government to pay down its debt.
