It's too bad that Trudeau's Government did so little about fentanyl, also about our poorly-controlled border and destructive immigration non-policies for so long. Hence, driving Trump's scorched-earth policy (The Tariffs). That said, it blows me away that Trump was so vociferous about the Lawfare that was lined up against him in 2023-24, but he doesn't see that excess use of the power of the State is wrong and immoral in this Canadian and Mexican case. As a Canadian who has lived my whole life here, in my opinion there were two major factors that need to be highlighted that started this mess: fiscal policy and focus on fringe politics. First, Canada came out of the 2008 meltdown relatively unscathed due to following a markedly different strategic path than other major countries, namely tight banking regulations as well as 15 years of paying down the national debt. However, several years after 2008, sentiment shifted to adopting the same MMT-led fiscal policies as other nations: lower interest rates and deficit spending. Secondly, at least 10 years ago, there was a major political shift to start emphasizing fringe social issues (climate, race-based, gender, etc.) instead of standard issues such as the economy or military to name two, and it was strongly evident in academia and in the media. The result was little governmental, public or media attention being paid to core economic concerns such as the massive growing government and consumer debt levels, highly inflationary housing market, or decreasing productivity. When COVID hit, the government further doubled the existing federal debt and when they found that unsustainable, opened the doors to massive immigration levels to bring the Debt-per-Capita ratio down which while helping in that one metric, has further inflated the housing market all while forcing wages down. We now have unsustainable public debt levels, unaffordable housing, decreasing wages, decreasing productivity, and a troubling reactionary political swing towards extremist right-wing ideologies. Top that off with the US administration seeing Canada is on an economic precipice and threatening to take the country over, there couldn't be a more perfect storm.

I don't defend or condone your arguments as many of them are spot on but what i do have to say is we as humans are grossly flawed and i don't see improvement only decline. However there is still good left in this world. I believe we should treat each other with respect and judge on an individual basis as opposed to stereotyping. Hi I'm from Russia and I would say that mostly people who lives in english speaking countries they usually can only tell about wealth privilegues of having particular passport, offical status of their country and that's it. for my personal opinion the motherland is something that is more than that. The previous administration caused this crisis. These migrants got word the borders were open and have probably been traveling for months only to arrive and discover what they did. Now of course it breaks the heart of any compassionate person to see them standing there with their kids and elderly crying and begging to be let through. All you Trump supporters refused to comprehend that only people who are black and bronwn being deported. Immigrants come from all over the world. You don't see any white person being stopped and asked for an I.D. or paperwork. But, hate is the only thing people see and want against those from other race that are not white. Maybe other countries should not allowed anyone from the U.S. to enter their country in retaliation.

I’m shocked to see another race besides Mexicans. Soooo this means ICE is going after the Australians, Europeans, Canadians, that’s in our country illegally. You have to get them all. If you are going to target melanated people you need to concentrate on the illegal immigrants that are Caucasian as well. Fair is fair.

Nigerian here..... Why are people flocking to where they are UNWELCOME? Even if the past government allowed them in, just scrolling through American news, anyone can see that immigration into America is hurting Americans, legal migrants are also hurting from loss of jobs that are going to the illegals for less, etc, etc and there's also a limit to alien acceptance INTO ANY COUNTRY. \nThe lack of self-respect is mind boggling (including from amongst my own Countrymen and women rushing to US, EU)..?

But what about the highly trained doctors, engineers, and CEOs who got their IIT/AIIMS education using Indian taxpayers' money, only to flee abroad for better salaries? If they want to stay in the USA, fine—that's their choice. But they shouldn't be allowed back in India when it suits them, nor should their relatives be allowed to demand their presence when needed. Instead, the Indian government should video-call them regularly, showing them all the new facilities and opportunities being created here, even planning a new city just for their return! Let’s see if they really care about India or just enjoy foreign comforts while pretending to miss home...

I’m sorry, but if you can’t see how this is a problem for our country, then you need your head examined. Because what nobody tell you, American citizens were evicted from their homes, evicted, no warning, no severance package, nothing. Why. Because we have to house these people. Now you tell me. You go home and there is an eviction notice. Your dumbfounded as to why so you go ask. It’s so we can house illegal immigrants. Is that ok. You have no problem with them coming here, so I bet you have no problem with Americans being evicted so we can house these people, right?

People keep saying it’s racist and anti immigrant but as a former expat, you’re out of touch with reality if you think Americans can stay somewhere illegally or can overstay our visas and just live in the host country. Please, they would have been at my door the same day it expired. Idc where you’re from if you’re here illegally you need to go. Like it’s absurd that this is even an argument. Why are Americans so soft hearted on this issue? More of us need to live in other countries to see how other places handle it because it is definitely not similar.

I immigrated legally 30 yrs ago , it was difficult with no internet as today & maintain ties with India. I think there should be co-pay some nominal charge for seeing a doctor because I think in Canada, it’s abused people get a runny nose they run to the doctor. You have a cold. Take some vitamin C vitamin D chicken soup get over it. The Canadian healthcare system is abused and now it’s falling apart because of all the immigration.
