The reason the SDP(Socialist Democrat Party) is freaking out is because of the census. Illegal immigrants are counted in the census and if they are removed, a state could lose a congressional seat. During the second term of Obama, so many people left California that they lost a seat in Congress, down from 53 House districts to 52. So these illegal immigrants are replacing the Americans citizens that have left those Democrat run states.

Come to Surrey BC! I've lived here all my life, and live about 7km's from the house I was brought home as a baby, so I've never left this city, and I, like that gentleman and lady you talked to, often feel like I am the only Caucasian in Surrey! Go by any elementary school, and you'd find it difficult to see any hair colour than straight black! Like when I went to school, so many now are driven to school by parents or grandparents that where brought over to Canada as well, so traffic around schools very often is chaotic at best! The once peaceful sound of birds singing, is now taken up with sirens, from ambulance and fire trucks, it's hideous! I too would love to move, but we keep asking, 'where'...as we'd like to be in an area with just caucasians, to feel 'at home' again! It's not that I don't like the people, but most in Surrey, are much more well off than the average Canadian, driving high end cars, and even their teenage kids have high end vehicles. So, like many Canadians, I'd just like to see normalcy & common sense once again, and a complete end to immigration, until ALL of our crisis's are taken care of!

my family and I, as Venezuelan immigrants who came LEGALLY in 2007, do not condone this behavior. this is unacceptable. The problem with many countries is that immigration cannot simply be used as a fix for economic issues. Behind immigration are living, breathing people, not objects to solve problems temporarily. When economies are struggling, these individuals are invited to help rebuild and strengthen the system, often sacrificing a great deal to do so. However, once the situation improves, expecting them to leave behind everything they’ve built and return is unfair. They left their homes, worked hard, and contributed significantly — they deserve to be treated with respect and dignity, not as disposable solutions.

I work way too much and have way too many stresses. I am a German born, Germany raised second gen immigrant. I am almost 30 now. To this day, I do not feel as part of this country. Why? Constant discrimination, being treated extremely poorly, lower chances at anything really, bullied and abused since infancy. I am very highly educated and skilled throughout various domains and tried to achieve the best I can. If I work in Germany, less skilled people will do everything to sabotage me, due to jealousy. The process is not the same as it was in the 80s when they did not require renewal every couple yrs w high $ and rules to return to home country for a set amount of time risking losing your home/job/business etc. Some renewal process for green cards have sped up but still takes 6-1yr and a new green card renewal and new one for Mexico can take 1-3yrs for approval. So someone that’s been here +20yrs will have to leave everything they have built here to go wait quite a long time. People born in Canada are just leaving and I don’t blame them. I have 3 neighbours in my neighbourhood that I was close to them but they left 1 put their house on rent and the other 2 sold there house just left the country. They all said the same thing Canada is to expensive and going down hill . High crime , high taxes you. You name it . The more you make the more you are taxed. I have a friend that left Canada for Ireland 3 years ago for a job in his field and was able to buy a beautiful house .

Have been saying it for years to many international students from India lived in qc there were so many international students coming from Punjab to qc. They will go just about anywhere in Canada if it means it will get them a PR wow left qc and moved to Ottawa so far have not seen so many international students . The same is happening in Germany. The worst is, that there is no one to talk about it. We had an amazing social system, which wasn't perfect, but surely working. Due to overregulation things are getting worse & worse. I am Canadian and a lot of the people I know that are under 30 and especially under 25 are only employed part time (due to lack of work) and still live with parents. I feel it will lead to lots of social issues in future as they are not gaining experience in fields that are valuable while never making enough to live on their own. The high competition and lack of career opportunities will just lead to brain drain. What will be left is a large welfare problem and skilled worker problem as anyone will skills will jump ship. My daughter is nearing the end of 2 great years in Canada on an IEC (backpacker) visa from Australia. She’s loved the people, the landscape (mostly lived in BC and Alberta) , and working there…. She picked up interesting jobs, worked very hard, just about made ends meet, has been great. \n\nShe was even offered a permanent job by a major Canadian co last year (she was working for them on a one year role at the time) that would’ve paved the way for her to apply for PR…but she turned it down without a second thought….. for all the reasons you would know about \n\n- Wages aren’t great (maybe 20% less than australia), \n\n- taxes are high (incl having to pay CPP…in australia the employer pays all pension contributions, on top of wages), \n\n- groceries prices out of kilter, \n\n- rents consume most of what’s left…. \n\n- AND, even if you could save a deposit for a house, or shoebox apartment….what’s the point, could never afford it. \n\nShe’s seen nearly all her Canadian friends resigned to their fate of being perennial renters, of being perpetually skint. It’s no life. She’s sad to see it - coming from a country of perpetual optimism and opportunity, to learn over time how such a (on many levels) similar country isn’t like that, that has somehow got it all so wrong. \n\nIf you are thinking of “australia” as your answer, it’d be a fair call\n\n- Avoid Sydney if you can (a less expensive Vancouver) but rest of the place is “workable”. \n\n- Average wage in Perth is $100k (C$90k) and average house (full size…not an apt or townhouse) price is about $700k (C$630k) …so do-able, if tight to start with, for youngsters (like you..!) \n\n- I’ve been to Vancouver’s East Hastings St, and so can confirm is nowhere close to that in Oz. Are sketchy parts of all cities, but it’s definitely not community wide\n\n- are small pockets of homelessness (esp but not only indigenous community) but the governments are mostly (sort of…) “on it” \n\n- sun, sea, sand… and the sharks rarely come close to shore!

I'm an international student. I believe this dilemma could have been prevented by having an online interview with each temporary resident applicant, especially students and their spouses, before making an entry decision. I'm not criticizing what the immigration department has been doing, but proposing an effective way that only the right people are coming into the country. This could massively reduce the number of immigrants coming in. However, I believe it is unfair that students and their spouses are left hopeless after spending tons of money on Canadian education.
