It not that there is not enough housing, it’s that the rents are soooo high that people can’t afford it!! I can rent no problem in a very nice condo if I pay $3000 up!! This is a HUGE problem!!! The government says it’s building more housing but they still are wayyyy too expensive!!

Same problems everywhere. Its not racist or far right to demand a limitation of immigration. In Germany its very difficult to find room to live. Often the state pays for the rent of immigrants which makes it way more difficult for German inhabitants to get room to rent.

Here in China, housing is so expensive that many young people give up on dating and getting married. Unlike in Western countries, where immigration is often blamed for housing issues, the core problem here lies with those who already own property. These property owners deliberately inflate housing and rent prices to maintain their wealth, while the government is more than happy to see property and land prices to stay high so they can earn higher tax revenue for their own politician’s pay bonus, forcing younger generations to work under exploitative conditions to pay for the predatory rent, leaving barely enough money to afford basic essentials .

A big part of the problem in Ontario at least are the huge numbers of foreign students.The government of Ontario allowed a large number of fly by night schools to open up to attract foreign students with the promise of a high quality Canada education. The schools charge the foreign students very high tuition, but give very poor service. They have no student housing, no proper campus and often don't even have classrooms or lecture halls that can handle the number of students they have enrolled. The students end up paying a fortune for a second class education, it is little more than a scam.

As an Indian student, i would like to share with you my perspective \n1) you will never see me dancing in public, blasting music and littering \n\nI actually spend my sundays cleaning plastic from trails \n\n2) i am a full time student for 4 years funding over 90 grand for a bachelor on top of that paying my taxes and paying 1100$ a month for rent being limited to 24 hours a week I do not work outside campus I work the job the college provided to me \n\nThe problem comes up when people use the 1 year and 6 month diploma program to enter the country and work here full time \n\nThey associate themselves only with indians mainly because they cant speak the English language fluently \nTherefore they associate with the exact people they associated with back home \n\nHow will they adapt to a new country if they hang out with the same people \n\n\nI came to canada with a goal \n\nTo make Canadian friends \nLearn about Canadian culture \nStart a new life \nAnd work my ass off to get my degree \n\n\nMost people move here to make more money \n\nThey sell their land and do so \n\nPlease do not associate hard working indians who adapt and leave their past behind with these people who have come here purely to exploit the system\n\n\nTrust me I know it's hard to hear this but good Indians do exist. I have so many Canadian friends who love me as much as I love them. I know how hard you guys work and I am so amazed at how well you carry yourself through this hard time I unfortunately happen to be Indian something I cannot control and I have been a victim to so much discrimination and hate just because I happen to be born in India it's crazy. \n\nWe are respectful Indians we do exist we do have Canadian friends we do adapt to Canadian values and we work hard for the land that gave us this wonderful opportunity to grow . We have the right to a good life just as much as each and every one of you . We have family we have People we love and we have sacrificed a lot please don't demonize each and every one of us because of the ones who don't know how to behave

To avoid future problems, just don’t rent your units to these people. \n\nThey have extra rights that’s you don’t have. They are allowed to take goods out of the store without paying. They can be captured for serious crimes in the morning and being bailed out in the evening.

The 2nd biggest country in world with 40 million people complaining they are getting too many ppl??? \n\nNo! A rental property isn’t a GIC itts not guaranteed money it’s a investment and some investments go down. But we have a serious problem where someone can live for more then a couple months with out paying rent

If the government doesn't want to step in and get tenants out after missing 1 payment, then it should become the government's problem, and they should have to pay the landlord rent. Protect criminals on your own dime. I can't just stop paying my mortgage. Why should you just be allowed to live for free with no consequences?

Look, the challenging housing market is not this man's problem to fix. He rented his home out, they agreed on terms, she violated them repeatedly. What do you want from him, hes a charity?? I've got behind on my rent in the past. \nI lived out my last month's rent. \nI'm sorry to the landlord I couldn't pay $2,400 in 2 months. \nBut I left so I gave them no further aggravation and problems so we could all move on. \nI put myself on the street and lost everything. \nEventually I got back on my feet got my own place. \nNot keeping these good landlords supporting me. \nI love this man he sounds like a good man good luck sir you're the kind of immigrants we need in this country to have full-time citizenship you work so hard to get where you are today❤

So, hypothetical thought here. If the landlord cant pay the mortgage cause the tenant wont pay, then when the bank takes over, will the bank have the same problem as the landlord did or will the bank be able to have the tenant removed quickly?

No way !! She doesn't pay her rent and/or utilities then she is out the door. Just as simple as that. She doesn't have anywhere else to go? That's not the landlords problem. I can see maybe one month in arrears but anything more than that you're out the door.

Thanks to Doug Ford there is more investors than landlord, the difference is both is using the system to cash in, investors people who is having more than one property is using the system Ford implemented to have tenants pay their mortgage while people are struggling. investors is greed is causing the problem giving tenants a bad name

The immigrants who come here on student visa and do 3 jobs to survive are not a problem. Problem are those who pay big $ to come in. They are the ones who launder their money through Canadian real estate and make Canadian living costs rise. I agree with this feeling shared all over. No, for now Canada don’t need a lot of people. The country need to fix this housing problem and fix its immigration policy. It is absolutely laughable that anyone would ignore the degradation of Canada thanks to the insane immigration policies that are both exploitative and predatory. I work in a field where I speak with hundreds of Canadians a month, and the ratio of immigrant to Canadian born individual I speak to is 4:1. The problem is NOT with the immigrants but the policies, and those of us who work and pay taxes who essentially support the integration/lifestyle of some of these immigrants should NOT be shamed into hiding for expressing our concerns. Canada has to reform all immigration policies immediately. Let’s get housing, healthcare and public services in place before we allow hundreds of thousands more people into Canada.

I agree that immigration should be regulated based on need or requirement. But let me ask this, are Canadians willing to work in the fields and do all blue-collar jobs for $8/hour? I don't know about Canada, but the problem in the US is that most Americans don't want to do these tasks for low pay so businesses rely on immigrant workers. If businesses pay a higher salary they won't be competitive with foreign companies. There is no easy solution to this. At least Canada doesn't have a green card lottery (which is 100% useless) system but a skilled-based immigration.

Manning the border is an easy problem to fix, we spent 800 billion on the military last year and each alphabet agency’s budget ranges from 1-15 billion. Needless to say there should be no shortage of resources and manpower in the executive arm of the government. Now many of them may not be excited about pay-cuts while being forced to field work and eternal guard duty for the rest of their careers but that’s something they need to reconcile with themselves as it was always a known possibility of happening to anyone living in a country with stressed borders.

The problem is Indian students are blindly coming to India without doing proper research and seeing things own sided. There are so many stories of Indian students living in pitiable conditions literally in poverty after coming here or they commit suicide under pressure as they cannot survive the harsh economic and social conditions. You have given a very good message that majority of students come here looking at example of people around them who are settled in Canada from the last 10-20 years but now the reality is so so different. Excellent video highlighting this terrible problem. TBH, the world outside of USA isn't all that bad in modern times. Its actually better. Many of these migrants already have a house, job and safety in their own countries. I Feel like the 'cartel' story is overly used to make seeking asylum easy. Not many people from many country willing to leave their country anymore. Life is way better and improved in those country since Justin and trump or Biden start selling their lands. Why would someone wants to come to Canada ? For what reason ? What is so good here? Is not that true most people here struggle to pay rent or mortgage ? Is not true inflation gas price or living cost can’t catch up with our income? Is not true that young’s are drugged up ? Why no one play soccer in soccer filed? Why parks are empty? Why are people leaving? BEcause in the last 7 years we made a huge mistake of letting in too many people and spent less time developing ourselves and infrastructure. Way too many came and got seated in the usual big cities where things are getting worse. Right now there is a gradually increasing anti-immigrant sentiment, especially towards East Indians, Bangladeshiis and Pakistanis, and there is a worry about having existing culture turning too Islamic and Hindu. Immigrants are amazing and we need them, but our country didn't play the long game and let in too many too fast. Right now esp[ecially for Bangladeshiis and Indians, is that ,many are coming illegally and getting a REFUGEE status, paying their own to do this who work in lawyerships [and you shoudl see the scamming being done by Indian and Bangladeshi Canadians who are just taking their former countrymen for everything they are worth!]: Canada is like a person taking on too much all at once and then resenting its choices once it becomes responsible for them. Every immigrant needs to go through the proper process not the easiest way. We paid large amounts of money to enter Canada and we were interviewed to be accepted. That should be the standard. Over population is a problem and straining the health care system and the housing system. Vote the right government in to balance things out. If you are a Canadian you can protest because you pay taxes, but if you have not been here too long, sorry, you have to respect the system and not change it!

Some facts are true but honestly its not that bad.. people do qualify for mortgages with 80k income as well.. may be a smaller house.. and the point where they mention we will pay debt for the rest of our life think of the time when our parents took loan to build houses in india and they paid a debt as well. May be just move to a different city like move to Delhi from punjab and buy a home there. Many people who came in last 5 years to study find it very difficult to get a good paying job and some have even gone back to India after burning around 50 to 75 thousand dollars for a 2 year masters degree.

Canada's infrastructure didn't keep up with the immigration numbers, so the problem has worsen since 2021. It is very difficult to go back when you pay international fees which are 2-3 times the fees for Canadians and PR holders, because to pay you off yhat loan you have to earn in $$$. Students should also know buting a single family house, the canadian dream is becoming unattainable by each passing day.

I am watching this video from Canada and I have 4 words for you - “DO NOT COME HERE!!!” Everything that was mentioned in the video is absolutely true. Canada is facing many problems, unaffordable housing, broken healthcare systems, homeless people, drugs. I am always scared to walk in downtown at night when I’m returning from work. And the worst part is, you cannot even defend yourself here if a homeless person is attacking you. If you do that you will be prosecuted saying that why did you touch that homeless guy and it is a violation of human rights, which is stupid. So does that mean that we should just let a random homeless person kill us?? How does that make sense?? My friend who was having an asthma attack had to sit in the emergency room for 8 hours. If something would have happened, who would be responsible? And the list just goes on. And what does the Canadian prime minister do about that….? Let a guy be a girl and a girls become a guy? What does that even mean??? I have nothing against the LGBTQ people. That’s your life do whatever you want, I don’t care. But there are so many other issues going on in the country and the government is focusing on allowing people to change their genders !! \nAnd the worst part is that a portion of the tax we pay from our hard earned money goes to the homeless people. And what do they do? Buy drugs and start attacking random people. I’m also from Canada, everything stated is very true. Education is not that great as compared to what fees we pay, think again before coming. Job currently isn’t available. Part time is also hard. In part time, you will earn to complete your housing and accommodation allowance but will not able to collect for your college fees.
