Also, why do we have to pay to keep the US border secure? Doesn't the US have the largest military? I'd assume they have one of the largest police forces in the world, not to mention their large government agencies. Why not put some of that defence spending into border security? Why do we have to pay for it?

Living in Michigan , Canadian are our close neighbors and friends. This is a sad day that will hurt both Americans and Canadians. You fought beside us in every world war. The US is showing the world it is now an unreliable, untrustworthy partner. Canada will suffer these tariffs imposed arbitrarily by Pres.Trump, but Canada will always be a reliable and trustworthy partner. I think the real reason Pres Trump is trying to subjugate Canada is he doesn't want the constant reminder what a true friend and trustworthy partner looks like. He is embarrassed by the comparison.

As a Canadian I am shocked that very few Americans seem to care at what Trump is doing to their country. It's not the tariffs on all of the US's former allies but that he has dumped its allies to appease Trumps good friend Putin. I am looking at dismay watching the US go from being the leader of the free world to just another dictatorship run by billionaires, America is Russia.
