Does this thing still exist in this place??\n\nBecause i live in a Muslim Area residence and they don't do this here. We actually feels secured because of them because drunk people causing havock and trash can't cause trouble here. D&rug dealers can't also linger in our area because the Muslim people here doesn't care about them $#it and will tell police about them.\n\nThe people with other religions also come to them to talk if there is neighborhood disputes.\n\nBut! Our Muslims here doesn't harass women with different clothing, because they respect other religion. They don't care if they $|aught€r a pig if they have a feast or party.\n\nIt's give and take. If the Muslims have parties or it's Ramadan time, people should not say something because its their turn to do their stuff.

I agree about cash grabs. I own a house with a basement apartment, I didn't put it in, the previous owner from 20 years ago did. I recently got a new tenant and had it listed online, once I acknowledged it had been rented, Zolo called the city on me. I have to get the basement registered or evict my tenant or pay $25,000 for disobeying the bylaws. I decided to get the basement registered and they are telling me that I don't have 50 % Landscaping so I have to pay $800 to apply for an exception ( even after paying the fee I could still be denied, that's just a fee for the application)\n\nNo one within 30 square km of my house has 50% landscaping, that's not how the neighborhoods were designed. It's a cash grab. After paying the $800 I still have to go through the process to register the basement which is going to cost me another $1,000 plus whatever changes they ask me to make.\n\nWe are in an affordable housing crisis and this is the bs that I'm going through just trying to rent my basement. I'm not a slumlord nor do I overcharge for rent, the system is grossly unfair

Unfortunately, Montreal is going down too... Been here for 18 years and it's getting worse (lots of road work, homelessness, opioid crisis, rental prices increasing (which fuels the homelessness crisis..) I don't go downtown anymore, it sucks and I don't feel safe. Even the Plateau neighborhood where I live now has a lot of homeless people, needles found in parks, HUMAN poo found in the same parks...). A lot of shops and restaurants are closing too... It's sad! I never thought i'd want to leave Montreal, it has a lot of great things but I want to feel safe when walking at night or taking public transportations...

This is a horrific mess!!!And the problems are just beginning,they came to the immigrant center in San Antonio.There is not enough of anything for them even sanitary facilities it's ruined the neighborhood and business in that area.A nightmare with no end.They bring them in at night when people aren't out to see it happening.Thank you Biden ,Democrats Liberals!Now you got them here what are you going to do with them?Destroying our country from the inside out!!!!!?

Advocacy of multi-culture have destroyed the cohesiveness of neighborhood cos different races and various nationalities use their own languages to communicate instead of using the national languages in English/French. My neighborhood had a big influx of immigrants moving in and I can see the difference they brought, they never cut grass, leave garbage out on lawn, they use the creeks as their own waste dump they give off looks at you like you're a problem in your own country, they stare in a very creepy manor at women, I had one stand at the end of my driveway and film my house, like just weird shit all the time. Not to mention there always seems to be like 12 of them living in a basment apartment, half probably cant speak english or even have a legit reason to be in Canada, then you see them bagging for money and its like why are they even here if you cant afford to live here? \nImmigration at this point is an insult to Canadians and to the ones who legally immigrated and wanted to be apart of canadian culture.

Did the people who left those neighborhoods leave voluntarily? I am an American. My house became surrounded by Muslim neighbors. I was repeated harassed. I grew up in Toronto, went to High School in Toronto, Lived and worked in Toronto. I lived on the Danforth, China Town, High Park, The beaches, I left Toronto, I would never set foot in Toronto again. My once great city filled with cultural neighborhoods, restaurants from every corner of the planet, and people who all lived together, respected each other and got along has turned into a divided hate filled shit hole.

That reddit commenter who complained about trashy people, there are trashy people in Canada , too. They're sometimes in the backlanes of the poor neighborhoods where you might not see them every day. It's not even particular cities, I'd say it depends on what kind of neighborhood you live in.

I’ve lived near Toronto for the vast majority of my adult life. Around 2016 I was working there and started to explore the city a little bit more, living there for a short time. I think the draw and attraction was that it always was a little hectic. Always something to look at, so many different cultures. Also such contrasts, walking through the downtown core and then out to a neighborhood like Greek town. With parks and even forests to be found. It went from tense to a feeling of refuge and a sense of a natural oasis within a chaotic machine. I think the sense of calm which could be found has become a little more rare. Also a certain openness that people and cultures had towards each other has been fading. Discourse with other opinions morphed into the near impossible. It’s all by design and sad to see. It’s a tangible and significant change. When you zoom out at the infrastructure, social and economic level. It’s very hard to see a healthy recovery happening anytime soon. Mostly due to those being in charge not caring. Still lots of beauty there. I would never choose to live there again, but if anyone is still living there and reading this. My advice would be to explore the greenways, parks and forests to be found. The juxtaposition of city and nature gives a heightened appreciation to both realities, and really gives a more balanced/peaceful mindset to explore the good which can be found

As someone that has been to almost every state except Hawaii, Alaska and i havent been to Porto Rico. But ya its violent and angry and poverty is everywhere. Toronto isn’t alone, globalization has allowed wealthy investors to gobble up homes, destroy the neighborhood and ruined the opportunity for young people to buy a home. \n\nI was saying 20 years ago, where do they expect workers to live in the future if they can’t buy a home in the area? Florida is beginning to experience this in a real way now, lots of older people retire to Florida, but who can afford to live there and take care of them and healthcare and services? \n\nThe problem was so apparent, but the people making money off the real estate bubble didn’t care, the politicians didn’t care, the people that would end up suffering have no voice still! \n\nHere is where it gets worse, even people that have property will have to divide that property up among multiple kids or heirs. When those kids get their share of a property, they’ll be unlikely to afford the rest of the money needed to own a home in the future. It’ll get much worse without major action, the market will not correct itself. The market is functioning just as it was intended, short-term wealth for the few, long-term ramifications for people not even born yet.

I think this is great, they’ll assimilate a lot easier and be given citizenship a lot faster than they would in America. I think it’s time our neighborhoods up north pulled their weight of asylum seekers

Grew up an hour away from Toronto, and lived there between 2018-2020 while attending grad school. It was expensive then, and has only gotten worse. My friends that remain are afraid to taoe the TTC, and as you touched on even the nice neighborhoods no longer feel as safe given all the random crime. I work in community services, and so much of what we are seeing could be mitigated or outight eliminated with better funding for social services. It's been almost three years since I moved across the province, and although I love to visit, I could never move back eith the way things are now.

A lot of shabby looking neighborhoods popping up all over Toronto. In the near future it will look nearly like a big us city.

I am so happy to be able to live, in my language and in my culture, in the magnificent city of Quebec. I'm not rich, but I have a magnificent three-story residence there in a beautiful neighborhood where vegetation abounds, where crime is almost non-existent, and above all where my daughter also lives with my grandson!\nIt would never occur to me to move to Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver or any other large Canadian city. On the other hand, I could do it in almost any human-scale city in Canada, the United States or Europe. Everyone to his own tastes !

Are there any nice muslim neighborhoods or are they all shit?

I was born and raised in Toronto to Hungarian immigrants, and my whole neighborhood was of mixed immigrants, so I grew up early making friends of different races and nationalities. I don't dispute though that it does exist, I have seen it and heard it. I too have been the victim of racism, yes that's right, but because I am white and blonde, I get remarks mostly from men of different races, anywhere I go on the bus and in stores, there are men of some races who just stare at me with a look that makes me very uncomfortable, and I hear sexual remarks. The other thing that bothers me is that white people are often being blamed, but yet there are different races that hate each other, this I know because I have friends of different nationalities who hate others not like them. Some nationalities even think that I have never had spices in my food, and that I dont know how to paint a wall or use tools, there is so much I can say about this. I guess everybody should sit down and talk to each other, learn about each other.

I had to sell my condo because of all the drug addict population increasing in my neighborhood downtown and the government put some injection sites all around downtown Toronto ; it has become disgusting and dangerous because all those people just trash everything they touch and wherever they go, and then because I didn't agree with all the discrimination taxes and xenophobia from the government's part. I am glad I was able to get the hell out before the total collapse of the economy and real estate prices and I don't regret it 1 minute. Canada sucks really.

Canada already has sepratist issues in Quebec and its French speaking population. A sudden influx of immagrants into a relatively small country is going to cause social issues.\n\nWhy would an immigrant convert to the local culture/language when there are so many people in his very neighborhood that are from where he's from?\n\nImmigration has enriched the USA greatly. However, we do this slowly and to a manageable degree.

You don’t have Tim Hortons in every neighborhood, your food is weird - I freaked out when I saw chicken in the store, no health care, Hollywood and Disney are trash! TOO MANY GUNS!!! Canada doesn't have a disregard for any race or religion. in ANY neighborhood. Lot's of neighborhoods are naturally settled into by extended families, but those neighborhoods would not treat families of different race or religion.
