It was announced today on the news that the Trump initiative to deport all illegal immigrants will cost up to $1 trillion dollars. That’s a lot of moolah. Which will come out of our taxes. And the tariffs that he went on and on about. Companies aren’t giving out bonuses to workers for end of year. Because they have to save money now because Trump will impose tariffs on incoming goods. The workers didn’t understand they assumed the cost would be paid by importers. In reality, it will trickled down to American consumers who have to pay for goods. Economists have been saying during the election this is a bad idea.Trump tried to do it the last time he was in office and it didn’t work. So people be aware you think you can’t afford things now wait you won’t be able to afford anything. PS the government has nothing to do with price gouging for food and they don’t set the price for gasoline or electricity, etc. ????

Montrealer here. You can send your kids to any school you can afford. If they're destined to be part of the elite (because you have a lot of money, or whatever), they'll fit right in. Just make sure you can afford all the years it'll take for them to graduate. Otherwise, the switch could be a bit rough on them.\n\nIf you drive, invest in winter tires, even if the province you're in don't make them mandatory. They sure are in Quebec, and they make a big difference while driving in snow.\n\nDon't wear your winter clothes (big puffy jackets, knit hat and scarf, etc.) before winter. Get some in-between-seasons clothes (polar sweaters and jackets, long sleeves t-shirts, cotton scarfs, hiking boots, etc.) If you dress super warm while still in fall, you'll freeze come winter. You have to give your body a chance to acclimate itself to the lower temperature. \n\nWhen buying clothes for winter, the secret to being warm is NOTHING TIGHT. Get a loose jacket, and boots you can move your toes in, with a good sole (no thin cute leather boots please, they are not for winter, just for show), and wear them with fluffy socks, no tight bands. the main concept of any foreign govt giving permanent residency is whether you fulfil the need for them, so this is good for people who have some skills and can positively contribute but anyone who just wants to go for the sake of going there is not going to get anything , they better study and then return .. this is nothing different from UK, its very hard to get Tier 2 visa in UK unless your job is in shortage or in the occupation list but the difference is that Canada has been very lenient in the past allowing people clearing just 10 years of schooling also getting student visas, this has not happened in UK as people come to study bachelor's or master when they have completed full 12+ years of schooling in their home country.. may be it was needed then in Canada but now its not the same case..so if govt is taking this step its first in the interest of the local people including the ones who have gained citizenship with proper procedure..

As an Indian origin person, I can say those students who have come in the last decade have arrived on dubious grounds. They just ask for education consultants to send them to Canada to anywhere possible, thus they go to substandard colleges and do low demand courses, like global business, culinary skills, pastry making, short bookeeping courses. These lead to nothing in the job market. Plus, they hardly study are working at labour or low end jobs. Then resort to “copying” and boasting about it. These students are well aware of all of this and further exacerbate the immigration issue here.

How is she protecting the homeland by hurling insults on random passersby? This is called venting your frustrations. I dont know wtf is this. My friend moved to Montreal , pretty quickly got a studio for 600 euro near downtown. And she says the minimum wage is enough to cover all expenses, and she is new there. She likes it there more than in Dubai, and she had a great and well-paid job in Dubai.\nYes, canada can still do better and should have higher salaries or at least lower cost of house rent. But come on, mist contries cant offer even survival on average salary! \nOK TORONTO AND VANQUVER are expensive but there are other cities where u can survive. Its bwtter than nothing. No, the US doesn’t have universal health care but there are insurance plans and the care is enormously better. My girlfriend had 4th stage throat cancer. In Calgary the doctors at some point told her there was nothing more they could do for her and to get her affairs in order. Her father sent her to the Anderson Clinic in Houston - yes it was expensive but they treated her, saved her life and that was 24 years ago. \nIt’s common in our emergency rooms to wait up to 12 hours to be seen. \nOur system isn’t progressive and doctors and nurses don’t get paid near as well as in the States. That being said, I am happy that I don’t have to pay to see the doctor or have a stay in the hospital. \nCost of Living: Once upon a time it was good - housing was cheap and many companies had the full range of benefits and salaries were equal to the cost of living. Now these same companies have stripped the benefits by hiring people under contract so they don’t have to give them benefits. \nRents are through the roof and in Calgary there are no rent caps. Buying a decent house in a decent neighbourhood is impossible unless you inherit or make a six figure income. This, in no small part, has created a homelessness crisis that never had been seen in such numbers before. Crime also is getting worse by the day. Canada was once known as a safe country. This is no longer the case.\nEverything is very expensive and the tax very high. Plus, we have to suffer winter! Where I live, the joke is that we have two seasons - July and winter!\nI still like my city (not love) but I am retired and own two houses - one inherited and the other bought when it was affordable (32 years ago). Calgary would not be a place I would live if I was a newcomer. Vancouver is beautiful but you really pay for it. \nTrudeau has helped make a big mess of things with immigration and lax criminal laws. interesting I live in the US, and we have the same problems here homelessness, drug overdoses, and high taxes, some states have higher taxes than others, home prices are skyrocketing, and no new homes are being built. no new low-income housing. Just a real shortage in housing period.. Yet, we have gotten so many immigrants from all over the world flooding here. I can't understand why they come. We have terrible medical care. No one wants to live in Canada because nothing is good about it. No one will pay you enough to live anywhere, except social housing. Why come to a country where the best thing you can do is live in a shelter?

I have lived in 3 diffferent countries for significant periods of time (4 years or more in each). I have been in Canada for 8 years now. I do not see any racism here at all. I mean nothing. The other countries i was in i saw this but not Canada. How come. Canada is very peaceful at least to me and everyone is so bloody nice.

This is very telling and confims what we already knew. Many students are NOT here to study. Most are not. The student visas, which the liberals hand out like candy on Halloween, are simply an easily abused way of getting residency. This was their plan all along. Let's face it, Canada does not have an enviable education system. Why would an Indian student pay all that money to come to Canada to go to school, when they can easily get the same education for almost nothing in india? Back door immigration tactics. My kid just started college. His classes were of course stuffed full of international students on the first day or two. Now they don't come at all. They didn't come to Canada to study.

The problem in Australia was less about cheap labor (although our farmers are still exploiting backpackers and anyone else they can dupe) and more about fake students who have come here to work illegally and get PR. Award wages mean nothing to many Indian business owners in Australia and the education agents in India continue to lie to prospective students who want to come here. Journalists who try to track the shonky operators down are met with thinly veiled hostility in the rare cases that they find the people behind the scam.

I think it would be safe for the Palestinians to migrate and for the Arabs to accept them as refugees. Arab Leaders have done nothing to force stop Isreals apartheid and genocide illegal settlements. I too am an immigrant, but I feel like the country is being overtaken by India. There's nothing wrong with immigration if controlled properly, bud sadly this is not the case with the Canadian government, and it is getting out of control. I live in a beach town in Ontario that up until last year was a nice place to live. Now when you go to the beach it is 90% Indians, and they are buying up all the businesses to cater to their own kind and if you aren't Indian, you stand out like a sore thumb!. Sadly, having lived in Brampton since the late 60s, I have seen it happen and I feel that it is becoming another Brampton! I have a relative that lives in Brampton and is very experienced in the medical field, but cannot get a job because they don't speek Hindi. Come on people! If you can't speak english you shouldn't be allowed into the country!

Affordable kindergarten and many other social services that are common in Europe, but not in the U.S.A. and yes, we pay higher taxes than our neighbor in the south. Public services and social benefits doesn't come free.\nYou don't have to pay for your garbage to be picked up by a private contractor, or pay a monthly fee, for an ambulance or fire services, like in the U.S. Even criminals are send to subsidies Indigenous healing centers instead of private jails for profit, like in the U.S.A. \nAmerica is not a country, it's a business. Anyone who thinks that this is the correct model for a country doesn't know better and should look at some of the leading countries in Europe.\nCanada is one of the best countries to live in the world and if it wasn't for the Corona virus outbreak, we wouldn't have the economic hardship we are facing today.\nLike any other country, we have our challenges and there's always room to improve.\nPollierve cheap propaganda is not the answer. These international people are coming from India, and they’re just here to stay and fraud everyone. They also have no plan on learning anything, they just want to stay here. They also are probably just coming here, so when they go to India they can show everyone that “look I have a visa!” They are nothing but frauds are liars.

Well thats's expected, Canada has nothing much to be offer except the permanent residence. Quality of our tech education even at top institutions is not top notch. I am in software/machine learning (fancied AI), born Canadian who did bachelor's and master's from University of Waterloo and moved to US for my PhD in 2014. Sorry to break this but even top universities in Canada come nowhere even close to top 20 in US when it comes to American universities. I completed my masters in 2011 and was doin some junk work in Canada as tech industry is light years behind US where all innovations happen. I was literally shocked to see the difference in education and quality of work after coming to US. Canada only wants blue collar workers, realtors and truck drivers.

There is nothing new here noxa, work permit is supposed to be gotten prior to coming to a country , Canada only allowed the conversion for a while and this had been canceled, it is not a new thing discovered by noxa , this is the way it was before

My family came from Canada from India over 100 years ago we came over here legally we tried to assimilate I think what really bothers me now is that these new international students are giving all of us a bad name most of them cheat on their English exams back in India, and this is a known fact most of them can’t speak English and hence why they fail the colleges here expecting to be passed automatically. they work over 40 hours a week illegally and lie about it The government is subsidizing international students but they are taking jobs away from our students. We paid taxes my entire life and my son applied for over 100 jobs and got nothing because every single job is taken over by international students they are they are abrasive. They are entitled, they cannot seem to understand how assimilation works. They are so entitled and they feel they can protest out in the streets when they dont get PR. They came on a student visa and were expected to go home. They are now complaining and protesting at this point they all need to be sent home because this is ridiculous, PR should be handed out as needed not automatically and right now there are so many Canadians without jobs so we don’t need more workers. I also work in healthcare most of the students or their families come in don’t have appropriate healthcare and we end up paying millions of dollars in healthcare bills because of them, we have had families come visit their international students with no healthcare having strokes costing us healthcare workers and the government over $1 million. We don’t have the infrastructure for these students to stop. The government needs to stop subsidizing. The government needs to stop handing out PR like they’re handing out candyscamin India and here charged enough is enough. I will def be writing to my politician

All these foreign students should simply stop coming to Canada. The entire tertiary education system would collapse. These colleges and university have been gouging these foreign students for years. This at its core has nothing to do with jobs. it is xenophobia. The white Canadian's are seeing too many colored people and it scares them. White kids dont want to work at Tim Hortons for minimum wage. The economy needs these immigrants more than anything. Do you have any idea of the amount of taxes these immigrants pay annually? It really is a sad situation. But the effects will be even worse when these tax inflows cease. Prepare for job cuts and tax hikes.

How come most immigrants, Indian or not, barely speak any English? The vast majority aren't refugees, nothing prevents them from taking their time and learning the language before coming here.

Coming to a country as an international student is often a route or excuse some people use to enter countries and then later decide they don't want to return to their country of origin. They than start whining about the new country is their home and they don't their country of orgin or they pay taxes and they should get to stay in the new country. This has nothing to do with requirements for acceptance to emigrate to a new country.
