How refreshing to listen to an intelligent leader! i only take issue with him calling Trump a smart guy. Trump will never do anything but ridicule and insult Trudeau and Canada no matter what concessions Canada makes. The great thing is that Trump never had any kind of plan except to tariff the hell out of our former allies. Canada is very systematic about their tariffs against US. They are using a scalpel rather than a sledgehammer. Very smart against very stupid, childish, and undisciplined.

Can we trade? Just for a bit? You babysit the orange clown for a while and we get a smart, kind, intelligent, charismatic leader who actually does his job incredibly well? Just for a bit? Please? PLEASE??!

You can't reason with unreasonable people. Thank you, Trudeau, for your dedication to our country. You have been a voice of sanity on the world stage. You have the intelligence and class to speak with other world leaders. I only hope your successor will behave in the same democratic way and not embarrass us.

The US isn't launching a trade war against anyone. We are closing up shop and are getting ready to take care of our own. There is a massive difference. We cannot be expected to continue supporting other countries economies and defense obligations, when we have 2 generations of working class citizens unable to afford a home or have children. We have entire countries we could fill with the homeless and incarcerated, and veterans who see little to no positive treatment or respect within the job market. Things are already very very bad here in the states. I don't think many Americans realize how bad the economy is. Tariffs will force US companies to reduce the outsourcing of jobs, and force other countries who are over-reliant on trade from the States, to cultivate their own self-sufficiency. This may seem hypocritical when it comes to China, but that isn't a problem you can solve overnight. \n\nTo make it clear, Americans are going to suffer in the wake of this tariff decision, but that is the price we pay to force ourselves to change. We have made ourselves into a very weak country because of overreliance on other countries trade, and other countries overreliance on our intelligence, infrastructure, medical advancements, technological advancements, and defense capabilities. The american consumer and taxpayer front the bills for all of this, and they are suffering. This isn't a war on the rest of the world. It us telling everyone else that we can no longer be relied upon because we are weak. \n\nI didnt' even vote Trump the first two times he ran. But things have now gotten so bad that I was forced into voting for him this time. Why? Because he's a bull in a china shop. I expect him to tear every damn thing apart he can within our government. I want everything destroyed so it can be rebuilt by people who aren't complacent.

What's WILD to me is that some Americans (*not intelligent ones) still stand behind their leader. It's an unreal time to be living in the US. \n\nLove you Canada!

Trump actions on Tarrifs, gutting of very important agencies, and sacking of thousands of federal government employees, point to a very grim possibility, that Trump is bent on tanking America's economy and alienating allies, for reasons best known to Trump, the highest levels of America's leadership and intelligence agencies (PROBABLY), and, POSSIBLY America's enemies.

It's such a pity that sensible, articulate and intelligent Americans and Canadians have to suffer, because of the American Trump cult. They're the ones that are going to suffer the most, and I don't give a $hit about them. Trump is tanking your country, and that's what these cult members wanted.

I'm no fan of Trudeau but... Compare this to Trump it's night and day. He looks young and healthy, talks eloquently and is intelligent. I don't like Trudeau, but this speech was great. Intelligent when he needed to be, simple when addressing Trump. A strong start to this trade war which as he said, we don't want. When will the Western leaders wake up, they still talk about friends. Trump is not a friend.
