Im lucky to be a home owner from 2011 and have a good job but I cannot accept the horrendous, corrupt and incompetent healthcare system we have..i know so many people who are basically going to die because of the horrible doctors, delays incompetence lack of resources etc etc etc....worst gov run healthcare system in the world... pure evil!! I wish I could move to Houston Texas, i could buy a mansion for 1 Million CAD and have access to one of the best healthcare systems in the world. USA please take me!!

We Indians can at best have business proficiency of the language. In order to gain cultural proficiency (lack of which was botgering you), it takes lot more time and effort. 4:56 big time wrong, if you get a major illness and are insured your best chances of survival is in the states; our Healthcare is fine for basics but if you get cancer you will die waiting in line; if you tell an ER that if they discharge you that you will unalive yourself, they will do just that. 1) Toronto is poor value. Getting housing of any kind (buying or renting) is stupidly expensive. And the quality you get for the price is lousy. Especially the newer builds, which are just thrown up as quickly as possible and sold to investors. Policy measures generally all seem to serve to just inflate the price of housing further. The occasional lip service given to affordability is amusing, but ultimately sad. There are lots of people who really do not want the housing bubble to pop. They will fight against it with all they have.\n\n2) It has become kind of boring. There is lots to do if you have money, but it’s harder to find entertainment on a budget. Even the free stuff like parks are filling up. Stuff like sporting events, eating out, going out is very costly across the board. Even the “cheaper” stuff is expensive. It seems like a lot of local culture is disappearing. Even the cool neighbourhoods are filling up with the same chains. I think the high commercial rent and bureaucracy is deflating a lot of would-be entrepreneurs. Most landowners seem to just be banking on cashing out their land for condos.\n\n3) Canada overall has a high cost of living compared to salaries. In the US you can find lower cost of living areas that still give you a real city experience. And in Europe you can be poor but still live a decent, if no frills, life. In Canada the basic necessities are all expensive. Phone bills, grocery bills, rent, insurance are through the roof. Domestic travel is expensive. And the dollar sucks if you want to travel abroad. Health care is free but good luck finding a family doctor or waiting 8 hours in the ER these days. It’s expensive to be poor, or even middle class.\n\n4) Most of the Greater Toronto Area, outside the core, is soulless suburbs with awful transit - very “American” except with worse traffic congestion. You will need a car, which is another huge cost. Row upon row of old cookie cutter suburbs with the same crappy houses. Good luck walking anywhere, and if you do you will need to walk down boring, treeless arterial roads with cars zooming past right beside you, and cross giant eight lane intersections that were never built for humans on foot. In a rainstorm or on a fall evening you have to be really careful not to be run over by aggressive drivers.\n\n5) It is hard to raise a family in an apartment here. You can do it but it’s not very easy, and also you are still kind of judged for it. Lots of young people are feeling stuck and are deferring or avoiding starting a family. Buying any type of house, even a basic townhouse, requires pledging your soul to a bank by taking a massive mortgage with eye watering debt in a volatile market. But few apartment buildings have the kind of sensible gentle density, the family unit sizes and the common amenities, like little courtyards with jungle gyms, that you might find in Europe. No one ever contemplated that anyone would ever desire to raise kids in an apartment. It’s just a cultural thing that has worked its way into how things are planned and designed.\n\n6) The transit system is ok by North American standards but awful by international standards. There are only two real subway lines, one stub line, one line that is permanently out of service after a derailment, and another line that was supposed to open a couple years ago but still has no date for opening. The subways go out of service frequently, sometimes for the dumbest reasons, and then it is a zoo of shuttle buses. The streetcars are nice but so slow. The buses are fine if you find yourself dreaming about riding a daily herky jerky rolling tin of sardines. They are building a lot of transit but it will take decades to get done.\n\n7) There is still a lot of cool multiculturalism and opportunities to experience different foods and cultures - one of the best things about Toronto. Increasingly though it seems to be losing the fun vibe of the 90s, when everyone celebrated each other’s backgrounds and was chill. It seems the immigration is not as broad based anymore and also people are importing a lot of their “old country” grievances here. The immigration system also kind of preys on people abroad by selling them a false fairy tale, so they end up dejected when they arrive and see how things really are.\n\n8) This one might be controversial but it’s kind of an ugly city. There’s nothing particularly of historical meaning or value. Some of the older neighbourhoods are kind of nice, but the last 25 years they have only built giant glass skyboxes, one after another. There aren’t the cool “missing middle” walkups like in NY, Chicago or Montreal (or even LA). There are very few buildings with much architectural character. Some of the buildings they deem “heritage” here are an embarrassment.\n\n9) For safety, honestly on this score I think Toronto is not bad. There are not too many real “ghettos” and it’s night and day compared to much of the US. With that said, there is more vagrancy and social issues these days, with tents and such. It’s very sad but the shelters are full, lots of homeless go into the libraries, parks and transit system. It does make it harder to enjoy these public amenities safely. It is nowhere close to Europe where you might let your kids run free around town. Canadian parents still helicopter their kids and the place again is not designed to really be safe for kids, in the same way as Europe.\n\n10) Finally, a bit of a double edged sword. Toronto had a lot of youthful energy - people coming here from all over. It is definitely not as sleepy as many parts of the world. With that said, it is becoming a bit of a transient place (minus the world class experiences like London or NY). If you are from elsewhere you might find it hard making and keeping friends. I’ve seen lots of people struggle because it’s is hard to build a strong social network. We have a very “shallow” culture here - people are extremely polite but not overly warm and hospitable. We treat one another kind of like neighbours - meaning we’d like to have a cordial, drama-free coexistence and otherwise kind of stick to ourselves.

With no ill meaning let me say good, this is best for everyone. They were lied to when they were told we could afford to take them and had the means to support their transition into our work force. We were lied to when we were told they'd fully integrate and are doctors and lawyers and yadda yadda. The reality is we had no real system in place to verify and transfer their qualifications and credentials. Doctors couldn't be doctors. They needed the work, we needed the doctors. It was a lose lose.

My first visit to Canada (the so called Province of Quebec) was in 1972. If you've had asked me at that time where was paradise, I'd have answered to you that it was right here in Quebec and particularly in Montreal. I spent two years and went back home in 1974. I came back five years later in 1979 with the intent of staying and I did. I've spent decades of wonderful years here, and although I will leave next year, I will still remember with nostalgia the lost best decades (70s, 80s and 90s) I'd have spent in Montreal. I will remember the most beautiful city of the world and what it has become in the years 2000 amd counting. I remember how clean and well maintained that city was; how its people were among the most polite and civilized in the World; how life was so easy and affordable; how tolerant as a society the French Canadian one was and so on. Today, all that is gone, and when I take a look at the pile of trashes and garbages on the Ste-Catherine street and Saint Laurent Boulevard, it makes feel sick. In fact, Montreal has become a huge Third World city, and it is not better on a social point of view : you can't walk one block or two without being dragged by a homosexual or a lesbian. Speaking of lesbian and homosexual, you can't keep your work if you don't support the LGBT and or willing to date your boss. I am leaving next year to go back to my country where there is still a seemingly willingness to normalcy, but since the LGBT has managed to sneak its power everywhere, I am not holding my breath of a bright future overthere, but it's my home and I prefer to be there and deal with it.

As an engineer, I'm doing my best to leave Canada for the USA. Lack of jobs, affordable housing, high taxes, and I just never felt like I belong in this country. I honestly would rather take my chances in the south. I'm tired of struggling here.

It’s been 5 years for me here and I honestly can say I have achieved nothing in my life yet. It scares me when I think I can’t return whatever my parents had invested in me. I asked for painkiller at-least so I could bear the pain but they refused that as well. You might well see someone you love dearly and with whole heart die in-front of you and you could do nothing. (I’ve experienced it myself hence saying)\nYou’re a lone survivor who’ll always keep fighting. \nThe only person who can make money here is businesses and high paid jobs which are reserved to Canadians. That’s how Canada’s job market is. Canadians’ first and if there’s something left they’ll look at you. By the amount of money people invest here they can establish a nice business back in their country itself and earn accordingly on own terms. \nMost importantly you’ll cut yourself from all emotional supports like family, freinds etc.\nI was social person back in India who liked making new freinds and memories but it’s nothing like that here. \nAnd it’s the same life, no different.\nYou wake up, dress, eat, go to work, come back, eat, sleep. No different.\nNo fun and nothing. You actually don’t live in present, you live in an expectation of a better tommorow.\nYou’ll always have a smile when you greet someone but I guarantee you no one’s gonna check on you to if you don’t start a conversation even with a simple “Hi”. Mostly Canadians are nice but again some will systematically judge you and say nothing but you’ll see in their actions, the way they’ll talk in a twisted way etc.\nYes I’m not saying that Canada’s bad or it’s no good but trust me it will take forever to build a life here especially with the number of people moving here from round the world. \nIf you’re well off financially from back home Canada’s a paradise for you. Indeed it’s a beautiful country with lots of beauty and lots to explore but remember everything comes with a cost here. Everything comes with a cost. People need to stop believing in this fake illusion and come only if they got a purpose here. The only reason why they’ll let you in the country is for money and once you’re in you’ll have to keep spending, doesn’t matter if you’re broke or whatever you have to.\nOnce I earn I’ll happily give up my PR status and go back to India as i very well know what the situation is how it’s gonna be in future.\nSo just one piece of advise to every middle class person like me, guys please invest and spend your money wisely coz we know how hard it is to earn and it’s high time Canadians start appreciating what immigrants like us do for them by burning ourselves day and night and start realizing that their past generation once came from some other part of the world as well and settled here. I’m here for last 6 years but I’d like to tell people - Canada is not the place to come and never ever make this mistake . Economy literally zero, school system - other than real education they teach you everything which is of useless in life, medical care - people have been waiting to see doctor for over 2 years, income tax is 50% which is you’ll never get anything as take home. There are way too many society issues that she’s not able to cover because of the limited time she lived here. There’s no social structure, festivals, support, mentally everyone’s weak, almost all food is GMO which will make you patient forever. Every family who came here post covid is struggling. Most of us are planning to return to motherland sooner or later ?? India is the best place for well rounded life always and many people are moving back including our group

I take offence as a Canadian when I hear the quality of our healthcare. There is time issues yes but we have some of the best hospitals in the world. We also have state of the art medical technology, some of the best research hospitals. A lot of fake news if you have never had to use our resources for life/death medical issues.

90% of us live an hour from the border.. so it makes sense for us to use the social health care when we can. and if we REALLY need it. We can still go pay in the :USA.. My wife if from Mexico and when we have kids we are moving back to Canada so she gets paid $1400 a month or more to STAY home and take care of our children. once they are ready for school we are moving back to Mexico where we both want to be. Best decision of my life was to move TO the USA. People just don't know how to navigate the American system. Can't blame them since most Americans don know how to either. Health Insurance costs about the same. Difference is in Canada, the Govt takes it out of your taxes and in the USA you have to do it yourself and most don't. BUT, out of 28 countries with Universal Healthcare, Canada spends the 2nd most and rank 26th in doctors and quality of services. You'll die waiting for surgery in Canada. I'll stay in the US thanks.

Lynn the problem is people don’t make their own research. Even if you show this, people are going to still go there Lynn. Just like the girls who go to the the Arabic countries even when they see what happens to the girls who go there. People are desperate and just hope for the best I guess. But all countries are struggling after the pandemic ? and some are also struggling with the people coming in illegally with boats. Europe and the USA are struggling with thousands of people coming in daily, which means the governments have to support all these people before their cases are being worked on. So they are working hard to send people back that are not coming from a country with war. Also means the jobs that don’t demand high education are on very competitive. Canada and some of the developed countries only want highly educated people with skills. Who can start working right away and contribute to the society of course through paying taxes and taking care of their families. But the struggle is real.

I currently pay $734.96 per month for my bachelor apartment in Parkdale, Toronto. All inclusive. I found the place in 2015, and it started at $660.00 per month. It's a smaller building where I know most of my co-tenants. Quiet neighbourhood most of the time. I've been one of the lucky ones for sure. I love this city! I'm from Peterborough and I will never move back. Some of the best memories of my life have been here. But you're right Alina, it has changed. Much like most other major cities in the world. The economic hardships being the #1 issue. Rent going up, wages staying the same, and inflation not slowing down. But with Toronto, the transit system is far behind the progress of cities like New York. Toronto should have multiple subway lines going east and west. Queen St. and Dundas lines for sure. The overall culture of the city is not as vibrant as it was during the 2010s. That could be Covid related. Or things are taking awhile to come back to pre-Covid form. But a lot of great venues and restaurants have been shutting down. And being replaced with the construction of condos. The real estate is insane here. It feels like things have gone downhill since the Raptors won the NBA championship in 2019. Because that really united everyone when there were a million people gathered for the parade. I'm hoping things turn around and there's more affordable housing for newcomers. I know I'm staying here for a while longer. Because of my cheap rent. And career attachments to the city. Yes actually I do have a comment or two. I think that Toronto has become the victim of either its own success as a multicultural, diverse and growing metropolis or the perceived idea that Toronto is the place to be. And what that brings with it? Yes, people who are interested in living the life and those who can afford it pay it. You said it very well, the city has become unaffordable to most people but the wealthy or at least those who are getting paid the best salaries and those who bank on real estate take advantage of this, be it the hype or reality since also, most job opportunities are still there. So to me the problem is with the lack of contro of the real estate market. And people who cant pay but for whatever reason live there just have to pay the price. The refugee situation is not surprising to me at all. We are struggling with affordable housing for crying out loud but we are also advertising to the world that we are that welcoming and peaceful society that those people can be part of. But at what cost. Toronto cannot continue like this if it will still be considered as a city for the people and not the wealthy and chronically increasing poor. No wonder they chose a progressive for a mayor and not a conservative or hard line liberal because people want change but not radically. People want to live in the best city they can having all necessary services and in peace and safety. Telling the truth.. This is dangerous in Canada. Canada is broken.\n\nI left Canada nearly 25 years ago. No regrets. There are more welcoming places. Safer places. Places with better weather. Winnipegger here who lived in Toronto 2014-2020, moved back to Wpg 2020-2021 and is now back in Toronto. \n\nFirst and foremost, your comments on crime are inconsistent with the data and blown out of proportion. I suggest viewers take a look at StatsCan’s crime severity index which confirms that Ontario is the safest province or territory in Canada (safer than PEI lol). There are also scores for cities and Toronto is safer than almost every other Canadian city, safer than even Ottawa or Calgary, twice as safe as Vancouver, nearly three times safer than Winnipeg. If we start comparing to US cities, it would be even more shocking. Suffice to say, Toronto is not only safe, but it’s the safest major city in Canada and one of the safest major cities on earth. \n\nThe homelessness crisis has certainly gotten a lot worse, sadly. As has the cost of living, but you get what you pay for.\n\nHaving travelled to 35 countries (doesn’t mean I’m an expert, but I have some experiences in other places), I respectfully disagree and think Toronto is one of the greatest cities. It’s one of the greenest cities in this continent, safe, on the lake, super close to other major cities, great infrastructure (relative to Canadian cities anyway), it’s beautiful and there’s a ton to do, not to mention the diversity. \n\nDon’t be turned off by this, if you can afford it, it’s one of the best places you could live on this planet.

Sweet sister, these people who talk like that just need someone to take their own frustrations out on....they don't bother to think about the facts before they say such things. It can be difficult to ignore it sometimes. You work hard, and you are constantly busy with work, school, revision, and a family.....yet, they think that they can dictate to you what kind of videos you should make and when. Making videos is in itself a lot of work, and sometimes you have to remake the video if it doesn't come out right. You're doing your best to help others who are wanting to relocate, and to support others who are having difficulties, as well as keeping up with your channels. People don't realise how much work is involved with each of those channels, nor do they realise that you are a human being who has a busy life. I'm glad that you're telling people these things, because they need to start thinking about others.

i think the infrastructure in canada would be better though. eg. in africa if a road needed to be fixed maybe they would take a longer time ... etc .... so the best way is to live in canada and vacation half the year in nigeria lol

Today I would say non of these places I live in Ontario and it cost so much for everything and if u want a small home that u would think costs 200grand nope it’s 1.2 mill and it’s prob a fixer upper too we also have a government that keeps tightening it’s strangle hold on the common people we are literally be ruled by a little Puttin internet tv free speech is all being taken away slowly and the tax on everything is getting out of control u may have a good job but your take home gets smaller and smaller because the government keeps pissing our money away with programs and sceems that don’t get finished they also pay there own news outlet the cbc 1.5 billon yearly to push all of these agendas it’s insane btw the single best attribute for Ontario is it’s near ocean size bodies of water we are Surrounded by that are nearly all interconnected

The best thing you can do is use your time to build an online income. Then, move back to Nigeria. That way, you can earn dollars and pay for lifestyle in Naira. But don't make mistake building an online income won't be easy. It takes time.

Yes this is sad for the individual. But we have all seen the marbles ted talk. If you haven't it is basically the idea that the US can only take a drop in the bucket when it comes to immigrants. Even if we took the same percentage as Canada did, its still nothing compared to the amout of people trying to get in. It is better for thier home country for them to live here for a little bit and go back. The US essentially only takes the best and brightest people from other countries. People that could be making their home countries a better place to be.

We made friends with people that moved here from Wisconsin. It didn’t take long before we noticed they were trying to recruit our friends and us that Putin should be admired, black people are less than, Trump is the best President. They had ideologies that were ugly. But they sure love our health care. They don’t get to hang with us any more.

(Oregon spends more per teacher but because health care insurance, the teachers get less money in their pockets. ) An retirement in Canada is even better.

Two things to note here with this analysis.\n1. More immigrant populations have low trust communities.\nLess homogeneous communities with a Ukrainian immigrant here and a Indian immigrant there don’t tend to trust each other.\nNot because of any animosity but just due to less things shared in common.\n2. Brain drain. It’s nice that we Americans and the western world at large takes in people. But what we are essentially doing is taking the best people from countries that need them.\nA doctor from Nigeria is one less doctor in Nigeria. So on and so on. It's a nice feeling <3\n\nWelfare covers most all prescriptions so you only pay $5 for each regardless of what they cost.\n\nThe system could use some major improvements in several areas(dental and eye care being two of them), but it works for our current situation\n\nI only recently found out that the states doesn't have the child tax credit as a regular form of income for parents.
