To me, the problem is threefold. a) Toronto and Ontario in general - and perhaps the whole of Canada - are accepting way more immigrants than they have quality jobs for. If you need taxi drivers and plumbers, maybe this experience should be valued way higher than education as part of the existing immigration programs (which is not the case). At least then potential immigrants know this before they come and get stuck in low-paying or relatively OK-paying but repetitive and demoralizing jobs with debts and mortgages that become a trap preventing them from leaving. It's also partially on immigrants themselves who come to Toronto to only find out there's 100 people competing for one spot and that you need to be exceptional - or connected through your ethnic network - to work regular white-collar jobs. b) The official bipartisan policy of non-integration. The naive expectation that having people live in ethnic enclaves will somehow make the overall culture richer is not what happens: instead, people tend to stick to their own communities and the common culture thus gets eroded and limited to economic and financial matters. This makes some cities feel like one large business with everyone networking 24/7 instead of socializing normally. And arguably, having the right culture / social life is what motivates already successful people move in the first place. So when they come and they find out there's nothing but money talk and hustling, they leave (if they're smart). Quebec is doing better in that regard, but then Quebec is not really Canada and it's been pressured to cave in to the same money-centred, uncultured and disconnected society by the feds for decades now. The States is smarter in that it actually makes sure to integrate its immigrants (and let's be honest, many immigrants like being part of a new culture if it fits them) c) Treating real estate as an investment and not as a basic necessity (as Japan or some Nordic countries do, for example). That coupled with a lot of Asian money being laundered in Canada through immigration channels and private equity firms buying whole apartment blocks for rental purposes has led to the highest housing price increase in all of the developed world in the past 20 years or so. The median price of a condo in Toronto is higher than in New York despite the massive gap in salaries and the fact that New York is one of the most expensive cities in the world to begin with. Some draconian measures are needed here to prevent foreign - or even out-of-province ownership -, second property ownership and corporate ownership for renting purposes.

Of course it's beautiful, but I wouldn't come here at the moment if I were an immigrant. I have several college diplomas in Civil Engineering and Architecture and can't get a job in that field since covid took over the world. Same goes for many other industries, people would have better luck staying home and starting a youtube channel...lol But if you still decide to come here, let me know and I'll give you a tour of the west for free...

Born and raised in BC. BC means bring cash. Everything cost more in BC. GOVERNMENTS are more greedy in BC as well. More tax here more expensive to buy houses in BC as well. . fuel costs the most in world in BC I'm sure. Many of us leave to eastern province because BC is too expensive. I'm a Canadian, and can comfortably state that Canada's reputation was cemented in the early seventies, and anyone choosing to come here based on that reputation, does so under false pretences. The majority of the immigrants I have come into contact with quickly become disillusioned with Canada, and eventually feel compelled to leave. The cost of living, combined with a lack of opportunities, and low wages, means that leading a normal life here is largely out of the question. Crime is a huge problem in BC, as Vancouver has become the de facto money laundering centre for North America. As a result, Canada is now extremely attractive for all the wrong reasons. At present, Canada is experiencing internal mass migration patterns driven by economic necessity, as the cost of living is prohibitively expensive in most urban centres. There is also a corresponding mass migration pattern of those who were born here away from the major cities, as Canada now lets in 500K, largely unvetted, immigrants into the country each year, most of whom are from war-ravaged, or third world, countries. With so many disparate languages and cultures from all over the world, it makes life utterly chaotic. The different nationalities never mix, and there is no effort expended to integrate with the Canadians who were born here. The Chinese live in Richmond, the East Indians in Surrey, and they have NOTHING to do with each other. Having traveled abroad, it's shocking how primitive it is in Canada. My advice to anyone thinking of coming here: Would you buy a ticket for a cruise on a ship that has a massive hole under the waterline?

Illegal immigrants pay on average $15,000 to drug cartels to get smuggled into the US. It costs only a few hundred dollars to legally immigrate here, but it does take time, and a background check. The requirements for asylum are persecution for race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or social group. The Chinese students at Tiananmen Square would have qualified. Fair means the rules apply. \n\nEvery country has the sovereignty to determine their own immigration rules. How many. Minimum requirements like no criminal history and no committing crimes when here on a visa. The number let in needs to coincide logistically with the availability of benefits, housing, and what the jobs markets need.\n\nPoliticians are negligent when they raise false expectations just to make themselves look good. Be honest and clear about the requirements to get a work visa, claim asylum, or become a citizen.

Please, keep not telling that statistically, minorities are being followed more in stores because they DO steal MORE. I had an acquaintance who was a monitors security agent. Reports are just staggering. Let's not specify too that Toronto got now more gun shootings than New York and many other U.S. cities, all commited by ethnic minorities, thanks to immigration, but don't let the facts get in the way of your rhetorical lying propaganda.

In Canada, their population is 1,053,945 or 3.2% . In USA, their population is 3,450,000 or 1.1%. \nWe observe in Canada, a government representation of Muslims in strategic positions. As a matter of facts, the usual patterns of infiltration is in progress and, we even see COURTS referring to the Shariah Law as weight on our regular administration of JUSTICE. THERE COULD NOT BE TWO (2) SYSTEM OF JUSTICE for our citizens. IMMIGRANTS HAVE TO CONFORMED TO THE LAW OF THE LAND, not to the SHARIAH. The operating system among democratic countries cannot be base on the Quran (Coran) and, the prescriptions of their Prophet MOHAMED. Those archaic systems were designed to control human activities in the Arab World, not in the WEST. It is at work since the 7th century. At the speed they go, Canada will be a Muslim State in 30 years. I said it before, Canada must joined the United States as fast as possible, to reduce the muslim influence or, drastic measures be introduce to reduce their number. In Quebec, for exemple, the LAW is in process to reduce their influence and, many muslims already think to move West of Quebec. That's a society very flexible to change of perceptions. Our LAW must not show any flexibility to the application of the Sharia Law and our understanding of liberty of religion, must stay private if need to. It looks like crime does pay in Canada. This piece of work should have been deported and never let back into Canada again, also authorities must start investigating corrupt immigration lawyers who knowingly skirt many laws and coach illegal immigrants on what to say and how to act when questioned by immigration officials. Let’s not forget MANY OF US wouldn’t be here if our parents/ancestors wouldn’t of immigrated (Yes Im one of them) let’s not be hypocrites now “oh go back” we all do what’s best for our family to give them a better future this man paid with his hard earned money his own lawyers. Many of us depend on a Public defender when arrested gtfoh this ain’t up for debate I don’t care about anyone’s negative comments so save them, better yet keep them make a profit out of it.

Everyone thinks Canada has open borders to immigrants. Wrong. We let many in, and deny many. This guy talks like Canada owes him something. Wrong again. He will do what many do. Have a deportation order drawn up against him, and then he'll disappear.

I feel bad for his innocent children to have to go through this. You want to live in another country, you need to follow the law like every else. You learn the language, get the same I.D. We all have to have , and be treated the same as if any American were to illegally cross boarders! What we have to go through just to have identification here should be no different for anyone else! You can’t just live off our tax dollars and government ins., food stamps etc.. While we pay for you to live here!! I don’t reap those benefits, yet I’m paying yours!! I can’t feel bad! When I go to a dr. Or dentist and an immigrant or a lazy able bodied parent gets everything done free and I’m struggling to pay with full ins.. I literally walk out so pissed off! These are straight facts!! He had fifteen years to make it right. Instead he took a shot doing it his way to reap the American benefits and the feel bad for me card!If they ever let him come back and he collected any kind of help in those last fifteen years, “if” , he should have to get proper I.D., citizenship, and pay back anything he was given! Justin Trudeau wants only non-white immigrants. Everybody knows that. He will spend as much money as possible to let in as many as possible.  Immigration should be stopped completely.

Well since Canada wants to act like America is being evil because we don’t want illegals, abuse of asylum, and anchor babies here, enjoy the illegals coming your way. Many of these nations acting outraged even citizens, don’t want the illegal problem and they themselves have tough immigration laws. Hypocritical to act like USA should just let anyone in.

Yet Canada lets in numerous Indians from Information Technology or Call Centre backgrounds. Many of they barely speak English and they’ve replaced good paying white collar jobs that used to be held by Canadians. I will be voting Conservative In the next Federal election because there needs to be a change in the country’s immigration laws. Canadian jobs for Canadians.

Oh hell no. Honestly I am a Canadian and enough is enough we have way too many people on welfare or can't find jobs and we are too busy letting more nd more immigrants into this country. Yes, I know we are all immigrants but come one we need to draw a line somewhere and stop immigration until we fix our problems that already exist like lack of jobs and funding.

For everyone that is angry about the US immigration system, we have some of the most accessible immigration programs in the world. Many countries will never let you become a citizen if you aren't born there and yet we make citizens out of immigrants everyday. You just cant sneak in and hope to wait it out, though. Go through the process, learn the language and assimilate properly.

The problem is that most people who like immigrants dont understand the concept of assimilation. I have no problem with immigrants who assimilate, but when we have so many illegals who enjoy the benefits of the American constitution, without learning English, who dont learn American History or economics, dont pay taxes and then send whatever money they make out of country. Of Course we should kick these people out. they should never be here in the first place. People not willing to assimilate should never be let into any country.

I used to be a very liberal person for most of my life and tolerant of other cultures and religious faith, like many others I may add.\n However my tolerance is wearing somewhat thin, like many others I may add again, after hearing the same old opinions coming from Muslims repatriated in western societies. \n They come into our cultures on mass and never assimilate into ours, but create their own little pockets of cultural being within our national borders.\n We hear time and again how the indigenous populist must be accepting of them, even though very few are accepting of our culture, using an analogy it's akin to inviting a stranger into your home and give them a safe place to live, food, money and all items that go along with it, and the next thing their sat on your favourite chair with your remote in their hand, even going to bed with your wife!\n We need to wear our head covering it's our right they chant, OK then, afford the same favours to us in your country, let my partner wear her bikini when she's walking down the road, let us drink alcohol, build Christian churches, you get where I'm going with this.\n If it's so great there why do you choose to live here? All the customs you seek are there if you feel that uncomfortable here? \nGiving Sewden as an example, there are now 180 Muslim 'ghettos' not the same you get in the US as the accommodation and welfare is quite generous there, a lot of them are 'No-go' areas even for the police, they mostly hate the Swedish people, a criminal element there will only rob off the swedes, and rape has gone up tenfold committed mostly by the Muslims, and it's only going to get worse as they are accepting another forty thousand of them, even though they have a crisis of a shortage of housing. \n If you ever needed an example of when your political parties have totally lost the plot, and are insanely progressive and what your country could become, then use Sweden as a barometer as to what your country could also decay into.\n The Muslims hate use, hate our freedoms, and just think of us as 'infidels' , multiculturalism has proved on this scale that it does not work, unless immigrants come with the mindset that they assimilate into the culture they are heading for, not the other way around.
