As a Canadian that lives right on the Canada US border, I went to the states in very early '80s, 4 times. Not going back any time soon. Darien Lake and House of Guitars in NY, Mackinaw Island. If Dodo trump is elected(he won't be) I will never go back because the US will becone the new North Korea.

When you believe in the climate Change environmental scam, you are set up for failure. For the longest time Canadians believed in the environmentalists propaganda where they must protect the environment and get rid of oil production. This means more tax on new buildings and it makes it more and more expensive to build. As well, governments use their power to protect monopoly lobbyists from outside competition. When you have government interference and carte lobbyists using government protecting their profit, no wonder Canada is on the decline. The government loves to use immigration as a propaganda to promote diversity, inclusion and multiculturalism while masking the rampant corruption within government. Now we are seeing Canada for what it is. Don't be surprised Canada will be the next Zimbabwe. Of course Trudeau will blame it on Nazi fascism far right MAGA Trump because he won't admit it was him and his diversity hire government who led the country toward destruction. If Trump and his bunch get elected in November here in the states I am going to explore relocating to Canada. I've always felt a kinship with Canada growing up right across the St. Clair river from them in Michigan.

I would hope you could find happiness in Canada. One of my concerns about living in a theocratic country would always be, is this choice really your own? Can you ever be certain, if faced with violations of your rights, that the choice is really yours? And, if not, can you consider yourselves as choosing Islam, rather than being forced into it, even if in absence of theocratic rule, you would have chosen it anyways? Maybe I’m overthinking it. I have the tendency to do that. I think if I were Muslim, I might choose Tunisia. I’ve known people from Tunisia and it sounds like they’re pretty open-minded, but still obviously predominantly Muslim. I’ve been to Dubai, and while I see many people recommending it, I honestly thought it was the worst combination of East and West. All the commercialization of the West, but none of the democracy. Plus, if you are not native Emiratis, you will always be second class. I’m from the US in what I think is the mini-Canada (ok, the Twin Cities) and we have a big Muslim community, but I’m very concerned Trump will win again in 2024, and I don’t know what will come of it. My daughter is part Afghani, but raised Catholic because her father’s side is irreligious. But I still worry for her, looking like she does and carrying that last name. People are so awful.

I am here 10 years. One thing that was really shocking to me was how many people were sheeple right when the pandemic happened. LOVE to listen to what they are told to do! People refused to socialize and try to reach out. Young people. Well guess what? That was the beginning of bad news. I also have been surprised at the amount of people who assume all Americans are like Trump and have messed up attitudes towards Americans. I am looking forward to a better Canada. A place where maybe people can start coming up with friendlier ways of living life.

My father and his family moved from New Brunswick, Canada during the depression when his father passed away. My grandmother was from the US. I will be working on obtaining a dual-citazenship and possibly moving to New Brunswick or Nove Scotia if Trump regains the presidency. I respect your decision to leave Canada. You have to do what is right for you and your family. I am not religious but I believe that all peoe have the right to believe as they choose. I also find that Islam is one of the most peaceful, loving religions there is. I too am very unhappy with my government for standing by and supporting the genocide of Palastine. I support President Biden and he has done many wonderful things but the support Israel by my government and president makes me infuriated. It is wrong. My now 19 year old son,my mother who lives with us and myself are looking to move as well. We want some place with winter so we can sky, and snowboard and do all things we love without having to travel two states over. Hey there, you fine American... Just to let you understand, our system is FAR from perfect, but it's still easy access and quick service IF you don't need a rare specialist or a not so rare one). The thing is, it's ALL priority based, so if you wait, it's because someone needs your resources even MORE than you do. Sometimes, it ends up in a tragedy, but MOST times, it allows for the neediest to get it first. \nAs far as having children here, we have a NEGATIVE birthrate, so our government PAYS us to have children. My son grew up in Quebec, and they have a double everything. Double taxes (not that bad after the tax deductions and credits), but they also Double the safety net and services, compared to the rest of Canada. Not only was childbirth free, so were the pre-natal courses and everything else, AND we got around 1000$/mo in childcare benefits, until he turned 18, with full of tax credits per kid. Plus, daycare was 5$/day back then, it's 7$/day almost 20 years later.. Pretty citizen friendly. \nThings MIGHT be changing though. Our conservatives are taking their talking points from the US GOP since COVID, and they are all-in to please their Oil lobby overlords and donators out in our prairies region. The Alberta Premier is a far-right conspiracy nutcase and her new pet-project is Capitalist healthcare (among her trolley of lunacies). SAME place the far-right rednecks always come at us from. It's like they binge-watch FUX nonnews and get their ideas from the dumbest idiots there. Disgraceful Canadian MAGAt wannabes are the result of Trump polluting everything since 2016. It's not just the cops that are armed, everyone you see is probably armed, legal or not! The atmosphere is dispicable. I will never go back! But Canadian education is not a lot better than in the States. Most people can't go to University here, but you can't get a decent job without a degree. \n\nWhy does Canada lag so far behing Europe? You're a good guy, Tyler...and very brave to take on such a dicey subject as comparisons between Canada and The United States. We are two distinctly different cultures. Currently, America is more than frightening. The political system has really become a total mess. A two-party system (basically YES or NO) does not cater to the many grey areas of politics. The choice right now seems to be Fascist or Liberal. That's it! It was not like that during most of my professional life. Thanks to my job, I had a Green Card. But, I also could travel with little difficulty...especially in the South and Mid-West. Why? Well, because I had blonde hair, blue eyes and pale skin. I never got used to states where everyone was walking around with a gun. It scared the hell out of me. As a commercial film director and writer, (unique services - hence the Green Card) I worked just about everywhere in the US. The North East is the most similar to Canada. But get down south, and people were literally walking around with holsters and revolvers on their hips. I never felt completely safe. But America is also a great country full of opportunities and if you are educated and a professional, the money is also great. All Canadians love their Healthcare and Social Safety Net. Generally, I think Canadians are more socially evolved and better educated. Your educational system is awful. And the Bible Belt States are anything but Christian. It's hate and fear-based. But the past 7 years have been the worst since the Trump Cult era began. Trump and his Mega Cult could destroy what was once a wonderful country.

I would never even consider it... any country that could elect Trump is not a place I could ever live. I refused to even visit while he was president. The gun culture is terrifying. The health care system seems unaffordable. I might visit again someday, but not to the southern states where women's rights seem to be going down the toilet...I love Canada!

Canadian here with many friends in the US. Daughter married an American and he immigrated to Canada last year after he finished his military service. The original plan was that she would join him in the States for a few years before he got out. Once Trump was elected and the USA went bat-crap crazy with the war on women's rights, the lgbtq+ community and truth and justice for all (not just those with money or power) she told her husband she'd wait for him up here. It's a big fat no thank you. Y'all have lost your way; broke your moral compass and feel that it's okay to trample on the rights of others.

The drastically increased potential for political violence ever since Trump entered the political arena. This one also should be higher on the list. The United States could not even get through a transfer of power without violence. This is beyond pathetic. The peaceful transition of power is the #1 job of first-world democracies.\n#16. Attitudes toward social problems such as poverty and drug addiction. \n\nNotice that #4 - #7 could be subdivided into more than one reason.\nI thought this list was going to have 5 or 6 items on it.

I'm an American who moved to Canada. Would I ever move back? Probably not. The US is so screwed up right now that I can't imagine ever moving back into that malstrom. Most Americans don't realize the laughing stock Trump has made of the US. Trudeau isn't great but Donald Trump makes Trudeau look like a saint. And socialized medicine, while imperfect still beats the US medical insurance situation. Less litter, less congestion and more politeness. That's Canada compared to the US.

I lived in the US; Virginia for 13 years. For the most part the people are lovely... just like a lot of places. If you treat people with kindness; they usually return that kindness. At least that is my experience. Mind you, I came home in 2006. When I lived there the political climate was completely different. I would absolutely NOT move back to the US. When I came home to Canada; I was so grateful because I had to endure 2 years without Healthcare when I really needed it. I lived on pain pills at that time. I was in a wheelchair by 2008 and so grateful that I was home where my country took care of me when I was unable to work, or even walk. \n\nPolitics has changed so much since then. It was always kind of poler, but when Donald Trump entered the scene; it has become just awful. Again, I love the Americans for the most part, however there is so much racism, homophobia and hate displayed in the country right now. I pray every day that Donald Trump does not become president again. I fear for the United States. I love her as a sister to Canada; she is. I want her people safe...

I grew on the border of Ontario and Northern New York State and have spent lots of time with people from the Southern United States and generally the people are very polite, on the surface. Unfortunately, as you get to know people you find out that many have some serious biased opinions on things that we in Canada have always been more accepting of. The last few years it’s been sad to see these views start spreading to our beautiful country. After Donald Trump and the rise of right wing conspirators the US is the last place I would want to live.

Actually, there are a number of racist, Qanon worshipping, gun loving, religious alt-right here in Canada to.... many have been elected off and on across Canada, and in fact, were funded by Trump's backers last year to invade Ottawa and protest mandatory masking (which was over long before they protested). One would think they'd love it there.

Absolutely not. We won't even visit the US anymore. We live in Canada and Mexico and try our best to not even have a layover there. My parents used to go to Yuma for 6 months and now go to mexico because they feel safer there. I grew up with many health issues and we would be bankrupt even with health insurance. And then my pregnancies from what i heard from other women with my condition it would have been at least $10000. I love my health care, female reproductive rights, gun safety and NO TRUMP

Canadian's reaction to US right-wing politicians and Christian nationalists is not out of step with many Americans. However, it is an overwhelming majority here in Canada. For example a poll of Canadians in February 2022 found that 68% believed democracy would not survive another 4 year term of Donald Trump as President, and 47% were concerned about the US potentially becoming an authoritarian state.\nThat being said, President Biden had a warm welcome in Canada's Parliament, and is generally well regarded here.

I absolutely would move to the US but I don't think it will be any better as the US is number 1 on the globalists list to subjugate. If RFK gets voted in I may consider it. I don't trust Trump he gave the world the clot shot. I love the US Constitution and that courts in the US are not all corrupt and actually uphold people's rights not so much in Canada. There are so many scary things about the US right now. Drugs, crime, mass murders, accessibility to healthcare, terrorism, racial hate crimes, etc. The list is quite long. Not everyone is affected by all of these things (knock on wood). One thing that is disgusting is politics. It is not dangerous per se as the aforementioned so it is probably not fair to say it as a justification against moving to the US. However, it is very commonplace in the US, and it is very annoying. Politics is extremely toxic, aggressive, and divisive right now. One wrong comment out of your mouth in public, and people will be ready to fight you. Or on the flip side, you hear one wrong comment in public, it is best to bite your tongue. \n\nPolitics in the US was not always intolerable. It has always been a strong subject of discussion since forever. However, it became disgusting and overly obnoxious ever since Trump came into the scene. I think his elitist personality gave his supporters a green light to be more vocal about their own divisiveness. Combine that with social media, and you have a recipe for disaster... so much hate, divisiveness, and willingness to not bite one's tongue right now in the States. American politics is really overbearing. And monkey see and monkey do... it will leak into Canada. I guarantee it.

Those are seldom legit. If the data comes from a study, always look to see who paid for it. And how large the sample size was; how were the participants selected? There is supposedly an agreement between Canada and the US called the Safe Third Country Agreement which means illegal immigrants are supposed to apply for asylum in the first country they come to. Unfortunately, because of Trump, the Canadian government doesn't trust any US government to give these asylum seekers a fair hearing. Second, this agreement only applies to official border crossings, not unofficial ones like Roxham Road. Trudeau is absolutely right in wanting to renegotiate the Safe Third Country Agreement.

Have I got this right? He has been an illegal in US for 10 years then because he felt unsafe with Trumps changes he uprooted his family and tried to stay in Canada. Yet he speaks to his family in Spanish?? Why?? If his kids were born in the US their first language should be English and he should have learned it by now too.
