Canadians will have to pay to help house these folks during what will likely be prolonged hotel stays (not just days or a few weeks, but possibly months), it may be better to just help them by paying for a one-way plane ticket back to their original point of origin (or to the nearest safe country to it). Of course it is ideal to help those in need, but we have to think of the many people here who are already in need amongst us. Overall, time to secure our borders ????!

Why would Canadians welcome someone who was in our neighboring country illegally here. He also committed a crime to enter Canada. Not only that but he knows the system well enough how to avoid being deported after his asylum status was denied. Jumping between provinces and hiding with other family members is criminal. I’m not Canadian, so I don’t have as much of an understanding of their process; however, much like in the U.S., you have to have a legitimate and compelling reason to seek asylum, for example, those escaping a literal war in Syria where death was imminent. Not that I don’t have compassion for this man wanting to better his life and that of his family, but seeking asylum from El Salvador because they have a lackluster economy, crime and violence (while a good enough reason to relocate elsewhere) isn’t a case for asylum. *shrug* Asylum is meant for exigencies, emergencies, imminent danger, which doesn’t look like it applies here. My guess is this man thought seeking asylum would be a way to go around needing expensive documents to do a standard immigration and the process flopped on him.

You must come to Canada with your pockets full of money and you better have a means of Making a living,or you will not be allowed to enter into Canada or Live. We need the same approach when it comes to Syrians in Canada. Every immigrant takes work from a Canadian. Unlike Canadians who help out everyone when it comes to employment. As a multi generational Canadian, I don't really care whether they cover their face or not. That's their choice. During my life I've seen all these different forms of conservative dress from catholic nuns, to Hutterites to Mennonites and these people are just part of the mix. What this is designed to do is to create a barrier between themselves and the larger society which is fine. I would never interact with one of these woman ever because the thin flimsy barrier makes it clear that she is not interested in talking to anyone for any reason and again this is fine. If she was with a man I would talk only with the man and completely ignore her and if she was with a male child I would talk to the male child, not to her. I don't normally chat with women who are strangers other than now and then in a supermarket line or whatever. This face thingy frees me from the need of chitchat small talk and I'm good with that. In any case we would have absolutely nothing in common.

As a Muslim living in Canada, I don't see the harm in a woman wanting to cover herself, I wear the head scarf myself, but in my opinions I don't feel the need to cover myself to prove I am more modest or a better Muslim.  I believe everyone has free will and has the right in this Country to dress the way that the law has allowed them to.  No one has the right to tell someone how to dress, not even the Prime Minister himself.  Telling a woman what she can and cannot wear is oppression.  I truly believe that if Muslims want to live in Western civilization, then they should refrain from covering their faces because the face is our identity and People have the right to know who you are and what your face looks like.  You cannot vote with a covered face, you cannot cover your face in a passport photo, you cannot cover your face for your driver's licence etc... I am a Muslim woman and I say this.  It truly is a shame how the media is portraying Islam and the Muslim people as a whole, and it truly is a shame that Canadians have become so ignorant.  I see more ignorance and racism in Canada than I do in America and 9/11 took place in America.  If you want to know about Islam, learn about Islam from a Muslim, a Library, google Islam, or offer to spend a few days with a Muslim family for research to get a better understanding of Islam and Muslims.  As a Muslim myself I can understand the hatred and the ignorance because we act according to how we were taught and raised, and yes we have many extremists claiming to follow the Islamic faith.  These extremists are not only hurting Western civilization, but they are also hurting the peaceful moderate Muslims that value their rights and freedoms as Canadians.  I do not appreciate ISIS hijacking my religion, I do not appreciate Hamas or Hezballah hijacking my Religion because I am a very accepting person and a very open minded Muslim and to be defined by media as a problem or a terrorist is very hurtful and a shame.
