Individually, I met many Americans and find them nice enough. A little louder and opinionated. I managed employees there for clients.\n\nWouldn't live there...\n\nEvangelical religion, racism and discrimination, political instability & ineffectiveness, bizarre legal system, scary healthcare, poor education, threat of violence / gun culture, high crime rates.

These people need to learn how to come to America legally and stop demanding entry for free. Its not fair for people who go through the legal process. I filed a petition for my mom and sister to come to the US and paid more than $1k. We’re still waiting and it’s been more than a year!

This pure BS. The damn liberal's need to stop pandering to the immigrants and STOP changing the laws and just enforce what are on the books. They want to come here they need to do it the right, legal way, not by storming the border.

Americans are in the crapper. Many of us live on the streets. We need to be more like Japan as to border policy, and treat us first. I don’t know why it’s a big deal, many other countries have the same border policy. America isn’t inconsiderate for having them, it’s just the government already doesn’t help us live. They already take our money and force us on streets. If more immigrants came in, none of us would have a home. Economy would skyrocket greatly but in the wrong ways. More crime because I’m sure there are immigrants who really need help, but among them are also the ones who don’t follow laws. Which is why we have legal immigration, to weed out the criminals from people who need salvation.

US - the problem is when there are obvious problems you have a system that allows big money into politics, which allows for lobbying, which in my opinion is legal bribery. The idea that politicians had ( or have ) NRA ratings for supporting openly guns and not implementing the most logical of common sense gun control. \nHealthcare - in Canada, not having the healthcare tied to your employer actually makes Canadians a more free country. There are a lot of Canadians in the arts ( musicians, painters etc. ) that have the freedom to pursue any employment that wish, and not worry about the health benefits. \nIt kind of surprises me that you were surprised about school shootings. From what we see, that is not happening all in big cities. Sandy Hook was the worst. To think that Congress didn't do a thing after that, is reason enough not to want to move there.\nAnd Donald Trump has soured my wanting to ever even go there on holiday. Why can't they come here legally?? My grandparents crossed the boarder and became legal Citizens. Followed the laws adopted the country and didn't try to change the country. They learned the language and worked migrant jobs until they found better jobs. They encouraged us all to stay in school and better ourselves. We are mostly all college educated and we learned so much from the experience. We didn't need hand outs and we didn't need loan forgiveness. The country is making huge mistakes right now and they spend like there ate no consequences but the real ignorance come in those who support the spending...

As a Canadian living in north western Ontario at the north west of lake superior about 50 miles from the boarder. I would move to the United states if given choice of state like Alaska, Montana, and maybe Texas. no real reason i can enjoy guns here but not all the guns i would like to own are legal in Canada anymore for weird reasons, and if it was the states of my choosing i would still have enough free space to get lost in and enjoy nature with fishing or hunting. If I couldn't pick were i lived in the US I would say not at all do to the vast differences in culture state to state county to county and even times down to street to street.

Moving to the US? Well if you ask me as a person who first lived in the US as a legal college student ( thought I had to clarify that) and now a Canadian citizen who has lived in Canada for over two decades... ???... Nah, don't think so.

There was a time I would have. My father and Grandfather grew up in New York city as children and spoke highly of the States. Since 2016 I would seriously not consider living there. The gun violence that occurs their has gotten to the point that it has to be especially eggregious before it makes the news. The cavalier attitude towards guns and gun saftey is disturbing even from your politicians. it would be a recipe for loosing your privalege to own a firearm in Canada if you did what many of us see americans do with their guns. Open carry. Not allowed. Concealed carry. Not allowed. There are courses you need to take and pass on firearm saftey and gun use here, before you are given the privaledge of owning a firearm. Those firearms need to be stored properly or carried in cases at all times when not in use \n\nThat being said I have done those courses and I own guns. Rifles to be precise and a shot gun I use for hunting food. Pistols are not easy to get here and you can only use them on a range. The only people legally carrying pistols in public are the police.\n\nHealthcare is fine if you are young and healthy, with a job. If i showed up at 53 with a handfull of pre-existing conditions, I would be in bad shape.\n\nYour record on lgbtq+ and a woman's right to bodily autonomy is back slipping to the 1950's. Some politcians (not sure what level, state or federal) are looking to even reverse the position on interracial marriages for pete sake.\n\nI think if Voter appathy is allowed to continue, the vocal minority of people who want this will get their way despite the fact that the polls suggest the majority of americans hate what is happening

I'm Canadian and lived in SF for a bit in the 90s. It was fabulous and I had wished I could have lived there longer -- legally. But it isn't that easy for an average Canadian to get a visa to live and work in the states. Made me sad, but now that I see the state of SF I'm good with it now.

Even if we dont see a lot of school shooting in Canada, it still happen, and gun where still legal in Canada not long ago so yeah.

We have lots of guns, but we regulate them and we can't legally carry them in public for the purpose of defending ourselves from humans, not only do my kids schools not need armed guards but there is no fence at all and the field is a public park.

We have lots of guns in Canada... Overall we do it better. our firearm crime is from illegally smuggled firearms from america... ALSO our biggest issue with our firearm laws is that the government keeps targeting legal owners for no logical or stat based reasons for political points instead of focusing on actual issues.

The fact that any instance of road rage or argument can turn into someone drawing a gun is a big thing. Yes its unlikely but the fact that it is possible that any person could legally have a pistol on them significantly increases the severity of any altercation.

(7) What used to be creeping corruption is now rampant all the way to the Supreme Court (8) 50% of the people want authoritarian fascist for a leader corrupt Supreme Court ... NO, for all the reasons mentioned in the video, and some not..\n\nFrankly some of the laws down there are questionable at best.... the law enforcement 'Civil Forfeiture' laws, where the police can effectively just rob you, seize your assets, and it's up for you to fight to get them back, if you can at all - with unclaimed assets being sold off, the money being sent up the ladder to the state level where it trickles back down as 'funding' for the local police agencies. Yeah, that's theft of property, and laundering, done legally, by the US gov't.\n\nI would never move there, and up to about 10 years ago I was willing to at least visit there... not now though.

I was once asked by a American colleague why did I not immigrated to the USA, the answer is: it was not even in the list of possible countries. In fact it is on my top list of places not to move to. \n\nYou have a good insurance through your job? That only means you have one more reason to fear losing it or stay on a particularly bad one if you don’t have anything lined up, if you have a chronic health condition, then you are straight out hostage to your employer. Even if you do have good insurance your bills may one day go beyond the maximum and you still risk bankruptcy. \n\nIf you do go bankrupt, in any civilized country you can’t go to jail for debt, in the USA you can, the country with the highest incarcerated population in the world in absolute numbers and relative too. To add salt to the injury it is a country that did not completely make slave work illegal, it is still legal if you are not a free citizen and your prison system exploit that.\n\nSo it is a country that you can become slave because you got sick.\n\nThen there are the guns… the fact you think you are exempt of school shootings says it all, if you live in a small city it would not affect you? Are you really saying mass shootings never occur in small cities?! The USA is ok to visit but I’m even avoiding that for the last number of years. I guess I’m just not ready to see firearms on people in a line up at a store; knowing that many others are (legally) carrying concealed weapons. There are many other countries that reflect my values on individuals (women, LGBTQ etc), that would be a second choice after Canada. And of course, the healthcare (or lack thereof). I can’t imagine being in a country that doesn’t support the health of all of their citizens and not just those who contribute to the financial health of big business.

The one and only reason to the USA would be to garner a pile of $$, or to complete higher educational objectives, which will in time, generate a higher income.\nAs this is unlikely to transpire in isolated rural communities in altogether liberal/blue States, one is confronted with the realities of heightened political polarization \nif not outright radicalisation, these MAGA types are ubiquitous and are the majority in many areas. Cultists are unpredictable at the best of times, however, when\ntheir GURU is being confronted by a multitude of serious legal challenges, the situation borders on the explosively untenable to a any reasonable non US citizen!\nAll other considerations aside, your contemporary political culture is vile/vicious/unhinged and unlikely to be resolved in the near future, as balanced critical thinking is\nregrettably in short supply throughout the USA, you simply cannot reverse more than a half century of a downward spiral in your educational system overnight!\nBe well & stay safe

I have spina bifida and I’ve had 20+ surgeries. I’m not leaving a country that kept me out of bankruptcy and death and kept me from getting shot. I’m white, but I’m not playing Russian Roulette with my life. I just in the last few years discovered cannabis as relief for my chronic pain. I know there are some places where it’s legal, but it isn’t worth the risk for me. I remember visiting LA when I was 12 and hearing about how cool and hip Beverly Hills was. When I got there, it looked worse than the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver, which is one of the poorest, most crime filled places in Canada. It was scary. That’s not the kind of “freedom” I’m looking for. You can’t exercise any freedom when you’re 6 feet under.

Many Canadians I know would do so in a heartbeat if they could legally do so, but are limited to being snowbirds, even when they own property in the US. The healthcare situation tends to be massively overblown..

I remember seeing a lot of conservatives say they’d move to Canada back when gay marriage was legalized in the US, but they didn’t realize we’d (Canada) already legalized it for a decade by then.

I hope they get sprayed down. Come in legally or fix your country because you illegally coming into mine is ruining it.

They need to call in the National Guard and use brute force to keep them back if they have to. I honestly don’t understand how people think it’s ok to do this. Go the legal route. I sympathize with most of these people's struggles, but the average American is struggling as well, and it's not fair to all the immigrants who went through the difficult legal process to become citizens.

Why do people feel entitled to just cross boarders into a different country illegally then act like those against this are some monster. I feel for them but we’re is the order to legally process these people so they come and have a good chance at life and reduce the likelihood of them resorting to crime because of their illegal status. Eventually the burden on the tax system will turn this place to garbage and everyone will have a country to go back to except the US citizens. Then it may be a reverse situation.

We do not owe them a debt. They (or any other migrant) are not entitled to become US citizens solely bc their home country is in turmoil. Sympathy can only go so far but when you try to invade our country all sympathy is lost.
