I’ve lived in both countries in small towns and big cities Hell No Thanks and I would have great insurance. I remember in preschool having to do active shooter drills in the US nope. If you look at stats on gun violence and mass shootings it’s crazy. The US leads by an astronomical amount. Tyler says the US has more access to guns and although I have no idea where to get a gun I think people could get one pretty easily but we don’t need them. I can walk in the dark and not fear for my safety and Canada has only had 3 mass shootings in its whole history. Of course medical, dental, education, women’s rights, maternity and paternity leave, unemployment, help when Covid lockdown happened, clean free water in homes, housing, … on and on. America the “free” is antiquated and no longer true. Education has slid to 30 something in world rankings and Canada is in the top 3. Cost of education, daycare, child benefits ect. I could write paragraphs. Also it’s hilarious when you hear American say oh we’ll just moved to Canada like they can just drive here and settle down?!?there’s a border and you can’t illegally just move here and get a job. If you’ve lived in both countries you’d know the difference. I don’t even want to vacation there anymore since about 10 years or so ago.

I think the best reasons for people to want to live in Canada is for the safety. Laws of no violence and no weapons in public. Our rapid response of Police, Fire and medical (there are bills for the Ambulance and Fire response so we do get billed at times, which also can be brought to our judicial system and potentially the bill can be dropped). \nAll across the world people need safety for their families and Canada takes refugees in large quantities. Refugee families are given a sponsored house, vehicle, paid for bills (including medical and educational) and a paid food allowance to live in until they stabilize themselves with full time work and when they are ready they can make room for other refugee families in need. \nWe have a huge area of land that is underdeveloped and there are plenty of opportunities for work in the infrastructure field. \nCanada is known across the world to host friendliness amongst its free citizens. \nAlso we aid any country in need and are the first country to respond to any natural disaster world wide. \nWe have our flaws but we feel safe and cared for with those flaws.

I would have considered it years ago. If I got a good enough opportunity. But absolutely would not anymore. The political situation done there isn't something I want to be around. It's a gong show. 20 years ago I theorize that the goal of 911 was to get the US to tear itself apart from the inside. Seems to be what is going on down there now. It's sad and terrifying.

He’ll no, I visit regularly, every winter but I wouldn’t want to move. Main reason: politics, the amount of money from big corporations that funds every bad decisions, your world is controlled by a few rich white guys and the propaganda news stations who are, of course, getting richer. I follow all of the major USA news/fake news and I shake my head. I avoid the subject down there because it’s none of my business.

So many American's talk about the healthcare they get through their work, but what if you're boss starts treating you badly? A lot of people are doing jobs that they hate only because it gives them healthcare. You might want to start you're own business but you can't because you need the healthcare. And then there is the possibility that you like the healthcare you get through work, then you're boss gets a better deal on healthcare and changes providers. You have no say in that and you could loose some of you're benefits. You're health should not be a carrot that you're employers can dangle in front of you to control you.

As a Canadian I can say that the #1 Canadian person who moves to USA is our medical staff. Nurses and doctors make much more in the states many people get educated and get some experience in Canada and then move to USA for the increased income. It's a bummer because in my small town there aren't many family doctors and many people don't have a family doctor and won't for years because of the doctor shortage at least in BC but I think it's a Canada wide issue. I am lucky to have a doctor who wants to live in a small town and help people, he is from south Africa ! ?

Would not ever move there. Don’t even know when I would visit there again. Maybe I’d like to go (very many great places & things to do, lots of interesting history) but I don’t really want to take a chance with all the problems there. Probably won’t be going. Not to mention the insanity that has taken hold with so many ppl- crazy crazy times - I don’t even want to say I’m Canadian down there anymore because we get such ridiculous comments. I’ve even had people turn away if they find out I’m Canadian. Yes of course it depends on where you go blah blah blah but it’s exhausting & risky so really not worth it right now. As usual Tyler you’re really starting to understand! Just the idea that people always say “this never happens somewhere like here“ & then it does. Just the thought of “I never thought it would happen at our school“ and then it happens. No thanks

The US doesn't have anything I want that I can't already get here. And with all the violence there, it's scary even to visit.

There are only two conceivable reasons for a Canadian to move to the US. \n1. is the weather. I don't think I need to explain why some of us get tired of winter for six months out of the year.\n2. is the money. If you're young, single, white, educated male, you can get some good jobs down there, but you're going to want to hold on to your Canadian citizenship for when you get sick.

Lol dont be fooled our health care sucks balls , try to get a doctor , near impossible, go to the hospital and a minimum 3 to 5 hr wait , and the amount of free drugs they give out we end up with drug addicts on every corner , so as a Canadian id say if your were thinking of moving here for our healthcare good luck .......id move to the States , i dont care for politics just want to ride my harley year round and be able to carry a gun thats freedom , if you like Communism come to Canada and bow to our dictator Trudeau ......soon we will have no middle class with the cost of things , just how they want it ...

Very courageous of you to publish this and I want to point it out. I know Americans are very patriotic and therefore usually do not want to hear anything negative about their country, so I'm surprised you published this. Don't get us wrong, we think USA is a great place to travel to, it's just not considered a very livable place.

Why didn't you want to 'get into' some of the major reasons a lot of people wouldn't be interested in moving to the USA? That paragraph you skipped over looked like it had some pretty good points for that person.

I am Canadian, I was born here in the 60's, I've travelled around the world, including the US but have always lived and worked in Canada. I love my country. saying that now....\nThe last 10 years for Canada has been the worst ever in history, our government has destroyed the foundation of what it means to be Canadian and has made this country look very bad on the world stage.\nEventually that will change. Not Canadian but... back in the 80s and 90s America seemed like the coolest place ever, cosmopolitan and progressive in a way the UK wasn't. Then I grew up. The Internet got invented. I got to talk to Americans, hear US news and politics that never made it to the UK. Then Trump and Qanon happened. Now there is no way in hell I'd want to live there. Bankruptcy inducing healthcare, religious fanatics everywhere and the risk of getting shot on the daily? No thanks.

For the Canadians I know who would want to move to the US, the main reason is the climate. To move somewhere without snow and freezing cold.\n\nAnd nope to moving there as long as there is any chance of Trump getting elected again.

As a French Canadian im aware of some discrimination about the funding of our community, School dont really get the money for new infrastructure. some of our building becoming more old and not really great to use i still like my place thought and i will never consider to move to the USA. I don’t even want to visit. I was at a conference in Milwaukee and the security guards were there to keep the homeless and beggars out of the halls. I mean - a block away from the fancy building it was a wasteland. So sad. The inequality leads to more crime and there are so maaaany guns. Then there is health care. We are getting more inequality here in Canada and the social problems follow but so far Canada ?? > ??

I live 20 minutes from the US border, I'm single and doing the online dating thing. I Get lots of people who live in the states because I live so close to the border, but I immediately reject them. That's how much I don't want to even consider involving myself with the US.\n\nAlso, I think you need to do a little bit of research about your own company because your statement that the vast majority of people have health insurance through work is completely wrong. It's less than 50%. First I feel for these people. They want to live in the greatest country in the world. Hi Kemi, thank you for this info. Well detailed. I just calculated my score using the CRS stimulator and it's 500. So I want more clarity on this, tho I'm yet to be married, but we ( Future hubby and I) planned on getting legally hitched before we enter the pool, so I calculated the score based on his age and working experience. For the NOC, does it have to be in a particular field or general working experience. He was once a teacher ( about 4 years or more experience and now he as switched I to Telecommunications. He has 2 and half yrs of experience in the telecomms field, and also do I need to evaluate my cert( ond and hnd) or he can evaluate only his bsc when we both write IELTS to give more score. As a legal immigrant it’s kind of sad for me to see that people think they can just walk into the states. Our family had to jump through hoops to get in. I understand the situation in Venezuela because I live in Mexico now, but the fact of the matter is, many of them can stay in other countries and do just fine. I know many venenzuelans in Mexico who are making a living. Mexico is very generous with humanitarian visas, even for Haitians. They are prioritized more than any other groups. But they don’t want to stay in Latin America…. The US is some kind of fantasy for them. Why don’t they rush their capital this way?
