Idk what they're thinking, considering, we just had a huge problem the last time they did that??????? Our government is having so many issues providing housing and other necessities that people need. Also it's so many veterans, let alone U.S. citizens that are homeless and now us as tax payers have to worry about our money going into immigration funds to feed, cloth and house them, smh. Just because America is more peaceful than Venezuela doesn't mean that America has figured everything out for them. Thats selfish when America has its own issues.

Canada might have a more welcoming immigration system, but that's also why the cost of living is so high. Top 6 in the world. Also I went to Toronto for business and talked to people, it's awful, rents around around 3-5k for single bedroom. Everything was waaaaay more expensive than even here in downtown Chicago where I live. rents are up 40%. If you're poor, good luck LOL

I have live in canada for 7 yrs now I realized everything is so expensive and you can barely save and work as a labourer your whole life. Everything is so expensive from commodities, gas and income tax you work more and take home less on your paycheck. Say goodbye to living a life in your own home coz you’ll be renting forever a detach house cost 1.5m -2 million or more.

Well, i'm Canadian, (Montreal / Quebec) but am also a transsexual woman, and for the LGBTQ community, practicly all of the States are in the red flag. I can't go in florida, or Texas, or a lot of the States, because my life will be in danger... Well, California is open, New York +/-, and a few States, but you have laws to break us, if we are not into your religious team, we are in danger, even if we are, i'm a transsexual woman, i am in danger, and with Trump, we are more in danger in the States... Canadian (Albertan here) - yes, i don't think i'd move to the States unless it was reasonably close (maybe Montana) with fewer people - i'd like to identify as a Hermit :). I motorcycle and have travelled majority of the States, from coast to coast, and i really do like the country side and scenery, and history, that you run through. I do a 4000-6000 mile tripe every year or two - did Tennessee last year, and Colorado this summer. A lot of absolutely amazing country really, and yes some really great people as well. Have run into some real odd people as well and some places i wanted to get out of pretty quick. I do like the fact the US hasn't bought into this woke agenda and politically correctness - it's absolutely nuts up here. I like the gun laws in the States, too bad we're so screwed over that in Canada. Gotta love Trump - may be a bit of a bozo but hey - the guy lays it out and owns his shit, every other polititician plays the blame game and does everything politically correct... End of day, i'd prefer to stay in Canada, either Alberta or British Columbia.

Former US citizen here, now EU citizen - no way in heck would I ever wish to live in the US again. The education, healthcare and overall quality of life is so much better. Cost for 1 year for full medical (hospital, gp, prescriptions & dental) less than a thousand for a family of 5, I pick my doctors, specialist and hospitals. My current prescriptions cost less than 200 a year, pricing what it would be in the states it would be more around 1000 a month.\nFor any US citizen considering moving please be prepared to file & pay taxes to the US, FEIE doesn't cover everything. Good luck getting a bank account FATCA. There are a lot of things to consider and prepare for before moving.

Health insurance in the US is crazy. Medical issues are the number one reason for personal bankruptcy in the US. One illness, and an insurer who finds some bs reason to deny my claim and I could lose everything. Can't figure out why the US doesn't have socialized medicine. It's the only major western democracy that doesn't.

I would NEVER move to the US- ANYWHERE - between the batshit crazy, political (fascist)-racist-religious fanaticism, crappy private education in many jurisdictions not to mention the guns and the absolutely disgusting attitude towards healthcare (it is only good for some things, doesn't include a lot of what we get covered here in Canada and if you lose your job, you lose your coverage). The ONLY good thing the US has in advantage over Canada is the currency exchange and there isn't enough of everything else in the US to make up for that!

I will just say, after our pop increased by 1mil last year due to immigration (including foreign students that still drive up housing as they need to be housed), I can tell that the approval of our current immigration rates are a bit too generous. Maybe the survey was taken only in downtown areas of Toronto or Vancouver, so its really only asking other immigrants if immigration is chill, but that isnt the consensus of the nation. We dont make more than Americans, but we are taxed more (aka why we want more immigrants to get more tax $), and everything costs more here: from housing to food to energy. Its driven up by the current unsustainable immigration quotas. I myself an am immigrant, but when my family and I immigrated 23 years ago, we only took in 20 000 people a year. I wouldnt have an issue on this at all if we were building enough. Enough housing and transit for everyone. enough good paying jobs for all these newcomers. But these people (with excellent degrees) are lied to at the border with a false promise of prosperity, and just end up being uber drivers to make ends meet. Its a truly broken system. If you arent making 150k/year, you are very much considered lower--middle class.

I support the current US immigration system but that’s because I’m against immigration and letting half the world in. Canada can have them and all the awful consequences that have occurred in their country since. Not talking about the individual people btw, more cost of living is much higher and wages are lower and much more stagnant and how Canada went from a really decent place to worse than the US in basically everything.\n\nImmigrants are ok…in limit. As a Danish citizen I would much prefer immigrating to Canada compared to the US if I ever would be in a situation to choose. The Canadian system is much more comparable to the European systems and I feel the mentality is more similar as well. Nothing against Americans I just can’t with how everything is politicized and generally seems super toxic.

Professionals in Australia are far better than Canada and USA. Weather, people, lifestyle everything. I am in Aus since 2004. Mechanical engineer wife Pharmacist and most of our friend in good jobs and enjoy life. Been to Canada and US....There is no comparison. The best way to work in the US while being a Canadian is by TN visa or status. 3 year limit but can be renewed indefinitely as long as an employer wants you in the US. So for anyone trying to apply for a job in the US from outside NA get a Canadian citizenship then go to US for work rather than dealing with H1B visa process. If you are wondering does TN visa cost you or employer a lot of money or hassle, the best answer is no but you can ask the employer to expedite the process by having them pay around $555 if you want the letter by mail otherwise its only $55 at the airport. Google TN visa and look at US gov. webpage, it tells you everything.

In Canada, I go to the doctor, I give my health card, done deal. Part of the problem is generational. The boomers are the most selfish of all modern generations. They were given a silver platter after WW2, yet they hoard and keep everything to themselves and leave nothing for the latter generations while expecting to be cared for in their old age. The dream was, when I retire I was going to joint the snowbirds and flock south to Florida or Arizona. Winters for seniors in many parts of Canada are pretty rough. However since 2016 the US has gone so far off the rails, I have looked at other countries to warm up in the winter. I used to visit the US every two years, but now, I don't want to visit let alone live there. Canada is not perfect, but the overall quality of life is much better, the fear-factor of just about everything from Government, to gun-violence is just so ridiculous, I have given up on the US turning around any time soon.
