Yes when the free benefits run out it's on to the next country for more free benefits. If you are coming to Canada you are coming to become Canadian just like the rest of us. The average Canadian is living paycheck to paycheck and don't receive any of the free benefits that newcomers receive when they come to Canada. Like the song goes ,we built this city, and now you want to move in and take over. Like I said that only third generation citizens should receive benefits from Canada because we built this country in our image, a Christian community with Christian values and holidays.

There is not much to do in Canada. Socialism has destroyed the entrepreneurial spirit. Canada should have global taxation structure like the US. If you want to carry a Canadian passport around the world you should pay some federal tax annually for that privilege. Not just return to Canada when you are old and need healthcare and social services.

Canada bends over backwards to welcome immigrants compared to many countries- what this report fails to mention is how many immigrants simply use Canada to get citizenship and then move back to their native countries with dual citizenship that gives them and their families medical care, and a free ride back here when their own unstable countries become dangerous, or those that use Canada as a temporary safe and generous harbour before moving on. I believe our immigration system is broken - all our Canadian governments want are more and more warm bodies to feed an insatiable tax monster, without regard to the significant social and economic disruption poorly planned immigration causes. So we don't have the financial resources to support them, we have no housing for them and likely won't for the next 100 years based on our current building rate and we don't have jobs that pay enough to afford the exorbitant rents. So it's better for everyone if they go somewhere else where they can live peacefully. We have made Canada an immigration unfriendly country and conservative governments continue to make sure that that stance is maintained by not building affordable housing or investing in supports for citizens and only giving money to close political corporate allies. Most Canadians don't want immigrants here at all if they don't have jobs and can't afford to live without burdening the social system.

Attitudes towards immigration in Canada are rapidly changing as we struggle with an affordability crises. Immigrants aren't the only ones that notice lower prices and higher salaries to the south. Im born and raised canadian and im so sick of my own country. Im even planning to move, especially since canada seems to care more about the immigrants than me.

Funnily enough my mum trained at the same school as I did but came to Canada under Harper. Was allowed to start work straight away and is now in high acuity and teaching nursing students.

Sky high taxes, low wages, sky high cost of living, most foreign education isn't recognized, far too much immigration causing problems finding jobs that pay a wage you can survive on let alone live on. Racism, divisive politics, very racist police, selective policing. I could go on and on. Many reasons not to move to Canada and even more why we Canadian citizens should leave.

I had exactly the same experiences in 2002 when I went(and came back) on PR to Canada. Getting into a proper paying job in your own profession is the most herculean task in itself. The necessity of a car due to extreme harsh weather most of the months and then initially affording only a basement with mostly indoor activities during non-summer months takes a huge toll on one’s mental well being. Most of the jobs are regulated in Canada so getting an equivalent clearance and compatibility for a job is no easy task at all otherwise you’ll end up doing only sundry manual help jobs around which too aren’t available easily. I found a lot of positivities and possibilities too in Canadian life but then be prepared to sacrifice a lot for many years and then maybe you realise you have a lot more to loose than gain! So as this blogger said Go to Canada first on say a tourist visa to friends or family, stay and spend some time and money too and then make a long term decision to come and stay forever or not. But in the meantime don’t quit your job or business back in India till you come to a final outcome?

Most of the homeless people are born in Canada while immigrants who came to Canada are generally more succesful. I’m Canadian. I don’t appreciate criticism of our oil and gas industry. A lot of other Canadians love to criticize us when they have no idea what they’re talking about. If we didn’t have oil and gas up here, everybody would freeze to death in the winter. Oil from Putin, or Saudi Arabia is fine, but if it’s from Canada, it’s bad. I had been to 85 countries, covered as much in each country. I can say the USA is the most beautiful in the world. Canada is no comparison. the real answer is - lack of big canadian companies, real-estate dependent economy and the need to continously keep pumping money in the universal healthcare. I came to Canada with family as a PR holder (without a job) and my point of view is completely different. Now I am a Canadian citizen after 6 years. My view is always towards my kids future which are brighter than in India I believe. My kids (now citizen) can travel and work in Canada, India, US, UK etc. without any Visa. They are OCI as well and can enjoy life in India in future if they want. What do I want more? Initial 5 to 6 months is a struggle is for everyone though.

To put it simply/ all levels of government are responsible for what is happening today. Provincial and federal governments refusing for decades to support Canadian industries or Canadians. During the 1960's 70's and 80's there was a massive exodus of companies or take overs by foreign entities as a direct result of government refusal to help Canadian businesses. Today they sellout Canada's natural resources loosing valuable tax dollars in the process, leaving taxpayers to foot the bill for taxes, subsidies and grants.
