I'm not an immigration expert or an economist, but the problem with Canada isn't our immigration system, but WHAT the immigrants do afterwards. Sure, we take in hundreds of thousands of them...but for what jobs? Is Canada, for example, a truly dynamic tech hub? At one point yes, but only briefly and it seems like that process has stalled out considerably since the pandemic.\nDo we have the infrastructure for all of these people or are we adding hundreds of thousands of new competitors for housing? We have population growth, but the wages are so uncompetitive that it increasingly feels like Canada is inviting immigrants in to build the country...but Canadians have to create things for them to build or else, this doesn't really work, and these highly mobile, educated people will end up leaving (which is already a problem).

Newcomers are given less opportunity to grow is a hidden and bigger issue that the Canadian government misses to understand. It will definitely affect the Canadian image worldwide. There is not any defined culture that leads country youth to betterment for sure, drugs, robbery, and smoking are common in the culture .people don't have good food habits too.

Lord knows, I don’t have a clue as to what they are running from - I’m sure it’s horrible given the number of ppl trying to escape their home country. But, I don’t understand how Mexicans who actually made it here, and considered to be citizens are so proud to be Mexican. There are a whole bunch of reasons why our housing prices are so high, but a big one is market manipulation by the realtor cartel. I'm sure a half hour video could be made just covering the most egregious tactics they have used to inflate prices and therefore their commissions.

You've explained it very well. For people like us who have gone through both systems, details about it are like second nature to us, like breathing. But I really want to correct that express entry in Canada is very varied and you don't necessarily need to have a job offer. A combination of your degrees, or the years of work experience you already have could likely already be enough to be approved. It's a very transparent point-based system that you can calculate on your own. Another thing to mention you forgot to mention is Green Card is still not citizenship. You need to have a green card for 5 more years before you can apply for US citizenship as opposed to only a few years in Canada. I moved from a very high paying job in the US (after studying in a US university) for exactly this reason to Canada. I took a large pay cut (still 6 figures), but I was express entry approved in 1.5 years. A year has passed since, and I'm eligible for citizenship in less than 6 months. \n\nIt is a game-changing system for Canada and it will have massive benefits down the line as skilled talent from the US drains to Canada. It will not be apparent yet, but it will become apparent in the near future. I plan to start many businesses and employ people. Canada took me in when the US did not, and so I will definitely start businesses in Canada instead and create employment here. A lot of skilled talent is reasoning along the same lines and a massive shift in the headwinds is coming.\n\nPS - The one thing Canada is not doing well, is housing. The system is set up correctly, but not enough housing is being built, cities expanded, or any coordination done to make sure people are settling in a more distributed manner. This needs to be fixed ASAP. The prices are becoming outrageous rivalling the US. Canada has always been so sparse, it's not prepared for this. It needs housing construction on war footing. I don't see the current government taking it seriously.

I was born in Lima Peru at the age 21 moved to the Canada Toronto was my first home and I lived there for 17 years ,but the Canadian winter was wearing me out , so I moved to Vancouver and my partner and I opened a video rental that last me for 24 years until the end of vídeos rental in the meantime I started to invest in real estate , I bough 2 condominium apartment one is a penthouse with roof garden , them 250.000 dólares back in 1994, same year I bought the second apartment for 175.000 dollars 28 years later that investment have increased to 2’200.000.00 dollars I lived all my life in Canada I am now 77 years old in good health,now as a Canadian citizen feel very proud to be Canadian and never consider moving anywhere I am very happy where I am, and I am sure many Canadian feel the same eh

Lots of assumptions baked in here that are honestly quite offensive or completely inaccurate. This is a great example of data not matching reality. Like sure, those may be the reported numbers, but it simply doesn’t pass the smell test. Not saying the percentage in Canada isn’t higher, but the way you’re presenting this data is simply misleading.

Born and raised in Canada for 64 years, working middle class all my life has shown me that in the last 2 decades the middle class here keep moving towards poverty because of the increased cost of living and taxes. I will likely have to leave my own country when I retire soon and am resentful that all my years of hard work leads to that. Its a choice between living on the streets or moving away. Our government has catered to the wealthy and given false rhetoric about making sure the middle class working Canadians have a decent life. At $2800 for a 1 bedroom apartment, $2 a litre for gas, high car insurance rates, lower wages than other major cities. My tax dollars pay for public parks that now charge to park in them so only the rich can afford to go. That’s just one example of the poor and middle class getting screwed over.

It's a great deal for immigrants in Canada. \nThey also have a diversity quota system that makes sure white males are the last hired.

I can 100% relate to Sanjay’s situation. Most of my friends are in the same boat as mine. The lottery system is the most absurd I have ever seen. Literally, careers are decided by fate and not by merit. Canadian system is merit based. Just imagine how tough it would be for companies attempting to sponsor Visas. \n\nIf there are comparable salaries and job openings in Canada. I’m sure a large chunk of the skilled workforce is willing to move to Canada simply because of mental stress and uncertainty in the US.

Canadas system is miles better then the US's thats for D**n sure. \n\nBut u are missing a major point here. One is to be a citizen to Canada and one is to be a citizen to the US. A country that is the world leader in GDP and Profits. \nCanada is making it super easy cause no one wants to go there as there isnt really anything there to strive for. \n\nI hate America just like most liberals do but the right wing puppets do have one thing going for them America is one of the biggest super powers on the planet. I could only think of one thing while listening to Sanjay’s story. Why wouldn’t he just marry an American? Like it really is not that hard, im sure there are countless Americans who would be more than willing to do it as a favor, or maybe simply try falling in love? lol Like it’s not that big of a deal, just marry a friend from college or a hobo and divorce after getting the green card, or find an old person who’s lonely. Great video! US immigration system is soul crushing and very expensive. As a Korean Canadian (Scientist with a PhD) who immigrated to US in 2012, I was lucky to get my green card in 2020. Since then I sponsored my wife and my daughter but their immigration cases have been in limbo due to the pandemic and we are still waiting for their green cards. You made a great point about why many people wants to immigrate to US from Canada because of pay. It is true that same job in the US pays so much better but you forget to mention a few points that the higher pay in the US is not that much advantageous if you calculate the cost of other life expenses. Sure house is very expansive in Canada but it is expensive in the US too. I live in MA and the average price is so much expensive. Additionionally, important things in life are very expensive in the US compared to Canada such as Child care, children's education, health cares etc... Example: My friends from Quebec only pay 7$/day for daycare (~140$/month). My friends in Massassuchetts pays on average (2800$/month). My friends kids will pay around 2000$/year for university tuition if they go to an university in Quebec. My kid will have to pay around 10000$/year if she decides to go to in state university if not it could be more than 40000$/year. I know that health care system in Canada is not perfect but it is much cheaper. In US, it is so expansive. My daughter birth only costs us in Canada 100$. My friend kid birth in MA with a great health insurance cost more than 5000$. Without health insurance, it could go even higher. Now if you lose your job, you lose your health insurance so good luck if you become sick. Additionally, depending where you go in the US, they have a gun problem. Luckily for me, I live in MA where gun control is very strong. Anyway, this is just to tell you that higher pay isn't always better.

Interesting Australia tops large Western nations for immigration per capita, yet it is equal 7th for first choice. It's an expensive place, that's for sure!

As a Canadian there looks like some great places to visit in the USA but i would never move to the US. The biggest issue in the US is Gun violence, there attachment to guns. Number two is health care, number three is weather volatility and more adverse weather conditions. Instead of one main government the US seems to have two which prevents any real change for the better. Money controls more government and political decisions than even in Canada which is already bad enough. The NRA controls more government and policing. They are seen as the bigger risk to American safety and security. I believe many Canadians believe the NRA are on the cusp of being the largest domestic terrorist organization and closure to a major cartel. Not even the military could control the NRA if the US decided to enforce new laws that the NRA felt would effect their financial, political or perceived control in the US. This is a big reason Canadians may not want to move to the US. To think there is a private military ready to go to war against their own people in the drop of a hat, reminding North Americans of the war between the North and South. There are beautiful places to see in the US, there are hard working and brave people in the US and i am sure there are more good people than bad but those with power, control and weapons have the great degree of balance. The US has a lot to be proud of and still so much possibility and ability to grow if it were not for those with the majority of power that is not being used for good or in the best interest of the majority of US citizens. Love the architecture and old districts and those trying to preserve the environment, farms, seed diversity and best of what made the US great.

There are brawls everywhere between stressed out people. Circumstances may have caused them. But what is the purpose of recording and then posting it in public? Does it make you a better person? And why bring up Vistara’s name when two passengers argue? Seems like the work of other airlines to keep tarnishing Tatas in the aviation business. But the Giant TATA will march on and creat great outcomes for sure

Things I love about being Canadian-- our multiculturalism, our gun control, our availability of abortions, our laws against discrimination that include protecting the rights of the LGBTQ2S community, poutine (hey, it's a thing), that elections don't take two years and constant blathering, blood donors, and our libraries kinda rock. There is so much more. Like how we would not put babies in cages. We have our problems for sure! Some First Nations communities still don't have clean drinking water and we are being so slow about the truth and reconciliation process. Our taxes can be insane. But all in all, it would take a comet hurling straight for Ontario for me to even consider moving South.

It's the best place to raise a family. Yes, you must educate yourself in Canada so you can contribute. Most come here thinking everything is free. I'm not sure why Canada lets in uneducated people.

Bit late here but I honestly think most developed world countries would have similar responses. Sure we have our own problems but America dials everything way beyond 11....

Canadian here. I’ll never forget visiting Disneyworld and hearing the people sitting across from me complain they weren’t allowed to bring their guns into the park. They didn’t get why it was an issue. It was horrifying and mind blowing. It’s that part of America gun culture that makes me very sure I’d never move there. I know it’s not all Americans, but knowing an American family is out there annoyed they can’t bring weapons into a family theme park is enough.

Hi Tyler from Toronto Canada. I can kinda understand where some of the answers are coming from. Know that we( up north) are watching our brothers down south with the politics. In 2016 when T$__+&$#p had got into power, there was an exodus from the U.S. I know of a few Canadians who go south for the winter ( 6 months). Not too sure about moving to the U.S.A. but I love to visit. \n As I said, most recently it is more of a political thing. ❤❤

How did you not talk about the ridiculous cost of living in Canada? Canada is one of the most expensive places in the world to live, and it's only getting worse. Unfortunately it's often immigrants that are causing the problem. Canada doesn't have enough housing to support the amount of immigrants coming to the country, so we all suffer as a result. \n\nI'm also not sure why you didn't mention the fact that Canada is quickly becoming a fascist dictatorship under the current Liberal government. Canadians have been having our rights and freedoms striped away from us faster than any other developed nation in the world, and the mental health of Canadians has been declining rapidly as a result.

I have a thought for you. Start a go fund me and do a cross country trip of both countries and experience the difference yourself. I’m sure your regular subscribers would love to see it too. As Canadian citizen, hell no I will never move to US. A lot of Canadians would say same thing and I'm sure a lot of people in other democratic countries would say this too. US was a really good and great place to live in the past, but each year it becomes worst. Have you already heard about the decline of American Empire? That's happening now and it could be more dramatic at next elections!

I’ve been to the U.S a couple of times, not in the last 15 years though. The times that I went I really enjoyed it and found people to be very friendly. Americans that I have gotten to know who live here in Canada or have been visiting, I have also found to be quite friendly.\n\nAs I type this you are talking about the importance of making sure you move to an area in the U.S where there are like minded people, like mined political views etc. that’s such a strange concept as a Canadian, because we don’t really have to think about that in terms of where we would live in Canada. \n\nMaybe you should come and visit us here in Canada? There could be certain limitations that you have become used to living in the U.S that you might start to see more clearly when those limitations are not there.

Americans are in the crapper. Many of us live on the streets. We need to be more like Japan as to border policy, and treat us first. I don’t know why it’s a big deal, many other countries have the same border policy. America isn’t inconsiderate for having them, it’s just the government already doesn’t help us live. They already take our money and force us on streets. If more immigrants came in, none of us would have a home. Economy would skyrocket greatly but in the wrong ways. More crime because I’m sure there are immigrants who really need help, but among them are also the ones who don’t follow laws. Which is why we have legal immigration, to weed out the criminals from people who need salvation.

I have a lot of US friends, many of them women with children. A lot are worried about their children in USA schools or just going to the playground. The USA has had more than 200 mass shootings in half of 2023 alone, Canada RARELY has mass killings ever...let alone hundreds a year in the US. it's a thing for sure. Plus we have everything the USA has and more. That being said, I love my US brothers and sisters. We rely on each other for a lot of things. But it should also be noted, all our famous Canadians end up in the US, so if any of us won the lottery or be one famous, we will probably move there too ?

I’m with my fellow Canadians, I’ll visit the US (although even then, it’s beginning to look less and less ideal) but over my dead body would I live there. \nThe fact you have become desensitized and don’t discuss school shootings is baffling. 4 or 5 years ago, there was a shooting where I live in Canada. The whole city was on lock down. I believe one elderly woman died, and 3 were injured. The person was caught, arrested, and is rotting away in jail. It hasn’t happened since. People still remember it. My little sister and I were scared, so we hid in my bedrooms closet. (It was on the second floor, and there was no way anybody could break in and get up there easily.)\n\nHealthcare is a huge issue. My family has a long line of health issues, and with that in mind, the risk is just to obscene.\n\nI am a woman. The fact that laws are being stripped away from us by old white men who have no idea what it is like to be a woman in the states is horrifying. \n\nGun culture. It’s near-on impossible or at least it’s incredibly difficult to get guns here. Owning guns isn’t respected. When people die from being shot, it’s remembered and spoken about, even years later. At least to me, it seems you care more for your Guns and the rights to own and use them, then Women who want to have bodily autonomy.\n\nYour political issues. I don’t even know what to say at this point beyond. The entire senate is rich old straight white men who like to make laws about groups they aren’t part of, and strip laws away from others. You basically have two polar opposite sides of the political spectrum and that alone, divides people so deep they can’t even be in the same room for more then 10 seconds.\n\n\nI’m Part of the LGBTQIA2S+ community. Enough said. \n\nI’m well aware that not everyone in the US is like this. But in my eyes, that’s more then enough to deter me. I’m glad you decided to take a look at this, and see our reactions to the questions. And I’m glad you didn’t take offence to the harsh or bitter answers. Sure Canada isn’t perfect, but it’s better in enough ways to keep me much preferring staying here.

Just because a school gun violence scenario has not yet occurred near you yet is not a reason not to be concerned. I am sure the parents of the children killed in Uvalde TX weren’t concerned at the beginning of that day they wouldn’t see them alive again. Or the parents of the children killed in the Christian school in Nashville. Uvalde has a population of only 16,000 while Nashville is close to 700,000. The thing is you have no idea where it’s going to happen until it does. And the scary thing is that you know it’s going to happen again, again, again, again…….

I would not. Canada has its problems, sure, like anywhere. But I would never move to the US , no matter how much money you paid me. No offence! ❤ to be clear I’ve met many Americans, many of you are lovely down to earth people.
