Person living in South Korea here ??‍♀️and contemplating between moving to either USA or Canada! So this was interesting! I tested the waters and traveled to the USA last year! They both made good points, food isn’t that great but the people are so sweet and inviting. I was scared because of what I usually see on the news but I didn’t experience any of the horrible things I read, but then again I was very cautious.

I think the thing that makes such a difference in the USA and Canada is population. California has a bigger population than all of Canada.

TBH most of Canada's population is all south of the country, personally I would love to visit the rural areas of Canada untouched because even rural areas in the USA happen to be pretty much crowded. I love the peace and quiet.

USA has whole neighborhoods that are crappy, Canada has pockets. Edmonton, Alberta, around 2006-2008 was nicknamed Deadmonton, not only cause winter is terrible, but because it had the highest murder rate per capita in all of North America. That said, it is a great city.

I'm a born and raised Canadian, but my friends and my fiancé are all from the USA, so I've got a firsthand look at the differences in our cultures and countries.\n\nOne thing I'll say right off the bat, I think a big part of what makes Canada work the way it does, is that we have such a small population compared to the USA.\n\nCanada only has around 35 million people, but there are some states in the USA that have over 40 Million people on their own. \n\nWhen you have that many people crammed together in one location, all fighting for jobs and housing and food and everything, it makes sense why you might have a culture that's a lot louder and self serving, because you have to compete with millions of people if you really want to make something of yourself.\n\nMy hometown of Edmonton Alberta, for example, we had a population of just 500,000. And I think the laid back attitude that a lot of people have in Canada is a product of that. \n\nThat's a big reason our crime levels would appear lower as well, because there's just a lot less of us.

Its a bit niche but phone bills in Canada are pretty awful. I don't know if it has gotten better on the east coast, but on the west coast pays 60$+ per month for jack-all on data on a bare minimum smartphone plan. I live in Europe now and I pay 12$ for 5Gb of data and free texts and calls across Europe (also no data roaming within the EU, which should be a thing between USA and Canada imo). These kind of mobile plans are starting to take root in the USA but are still not available in Canada, which is a major L in my books.

How come you guys forget to mention weather? In Canada it's wayyy too cold in the winter. In the best parts of USA, it doesn't snow. It's a preference but I don't enjoy the cold weather. The snow is nice to look at for a couple of day but it gets annoying when there's too much snow.

Whilst I agree with some things you mentioned, let me know where it's better than Canada. I lived in the US and it was no better at all. It was work work work with no life and not much family time. Only very rich people in both Canada and USA don't pay much taxes because of the loopholes. The CRA and IRS mostly go after people who are struggling to put food on the table. \n\nI had a major operation that cost over $350 000,00 in Canada. I don't even know what I would have done if I was in the US with shortfalls, many people go bankrupt due to medical expenses. I am grateful I didn't pay anything. The health issues you mentioned are everywhere due to covid that has ravaged systems in most countries. It is very easy when you are healthy and not faced with a hefty medical bill to say negative stuff. When you are desperate like I was then you count your blessings. \n\nTalk of racism and discrimination, it is everywhere. Very informative. As a US Citizen who lives in the USA, Canada is one of those places I don't want to visit because it just seems too mellow and boring. I want to come for Carabana/Caribbean Carnival though.

USA is the largest economy of world, there are plenty of jobs and opportunities here, only the size of the economy of Texas State, where I live, is equal to the total economy of Canada.
