Take ServiceNow, for example. For IC3, average salary in USA is about $210K, whereas in Canada, it’s $110K. Not to mention, the taxes in Canada are higher and the cost of living around 60-80% of USA depending on the location. Hence, the favorable outlook towards USA despite the immigration struggles.

Great video! US immigration system is soul crushing and very expensive. As a Korean Canadian (Scientist with a PhD) who immigrated to US in 2012, I was lucky to get my green card in 2020. Since then I sponsored my wife and my daughter but their immigration cases have been in limbo due to the pandemic and we are still waiting for their green cards. You made a great point about why many people wants to immigrate to US from Canada because of pay. It is true that same job in the US pays so much better but you forget to mention a few points that the higher pay in the US is not that much advantageous if you calculate the cost of other life expenses. Sure house is very expansive in Canada but it is expensive in the US too. I live in MA and the average price is so much expensive. Additionionally, important things in life are very expensive in the US compared to Canada such as Child care, children's education, health cares etc... Example: My friends from Quebec only pay 7$/day for daycare (~140$/month). My friends in Massassuchetts pays on average (2800$/month). My friends kids will pay around 2000$/year for university tuition if they go to an university in Quebec. My kid will have to pay around 10000$/year if she decides to go to in state university if not it could be more than 40000$/year. I know that health care system in Canada is not perfect but it is much cheaper. In US, it is so expansive. My daughter birth only costs us in Canada 100$. My friend kid birth in MA with a great health insurance cost more than 5000$. Without health insurance, it could go even higher. Now if you lose your job, you lose your health insurance so good luck if you become sick. Additionally, depending where you go in the US, they have a gun problem. Luckily for me, I live in MA where gun control is very strong. Anyway, this is just to tell you that higher pay isn't always better.

The financial sector is not a good barometer of the economy of a country. I know, it sounds crazy. But, it's true. There are many large businesses from other countries reaping massive profits from Canada which count into the progress of Canada until they decide to leave the country with the money. Also, large companies currently worldwide are more in the mode of pleasing their share holders. Thus, consolidating their businesses and firing hundreds or thousands at a time in those consolidations. The financial sector rarely trickles down their profits at the proper level to keep up with inflation and overall cost of living. This leaves the middle class and poor sinking into an economic abyss as each year passes. Which then leads to less purchasing power by the masses and inevitable economic declines.

Although later i hv been to canada and UK several times as long term visitor. I hv so many other reservations about these two countries especially related to its future after 20 yrs because of their liberal policies on refugees and asylum seekers. Their economy is going down and down. In comparison Australia seems to be a younger country with good climate round the year with good prospects

People here think the health care is great but it's not and it's getting worse and I've seen the care deteriorate over the decades. As a Canadian, I won’t even travel in the US let alone move there. Why? One big reason is the daily mass shootings and the ridiculous number of guns in the US. Plus, your health care system. Letting an insurance company decide which treatment I should get? Going bankrupt due to a serious illness? No thanks! Almost 10 years ago now my husband and I each had serious health issues that required hospital stays. We got excellent care and it didn’t cost us a penny more than what we’ve paid in taxes. Tyler, with complete respect you DON'T get why we generally have no interest in moving to the US. You constantly talk about 'you just have to find the right place to live'. True of anywhere, but here the choice would be about preferences and afordability, NOT to avoid gun violence or shunning because of political views.\nThere is no where in Canada I could move to where gun violence would be a big factor to consider (we have rough places, and gun violence, but STRICT gun laws). Let me give you some perspective. In 2019 the USA had 37,038 gun related deaths. (No other causes of death- JUST all gun death). In Canada, in 2019, our death by illegal means (which does include suicide, as it is illegal) was 5,874. (That is for ALL types of homicide, not just guns). And the government was shocked by the increase that year and tightened gun restrictions further.\nYou talk about having certain States more Red or Blue. We aren't bi- partisan, so our politics are a melting pot. You might have people you disagree with everywhere you go, but you will also always find an equal group who thinks similar (unless your an extremist). And even the people who think different will generally agree to dis- agree. There is next to nowhere in Canada where your political views would get you run out of town. \n\nYou are USED to thinking like an American. About 25 years ago I would have been happy to move to the U.S. It looked my current job was about to end, and I had a skill set that matched what a lot of employers in the U.S. were looking for. Unfortunately U.S. immigration laws made that extremely difficult. Now I'm retired, and I would still like to move to the U.S., except for the fact that I would have no health insurance down there, and health care costs in the U.S. are the highest in the world. It's true that you do need a gun down there though, and you'd better be trained in how to use it.
