I like visiting the U.S. on occasion. There are some very nice state parks and natural wonders. I like that both our countries all drive on the same side of the road. I like that we all speak English. So it's easy to get around. People in the U.S. are generally very nice if you stay away from densely populated places. But playing roulette on the healthcare is already enough to dissuade me. Then there is the (lack of) gun control. I am adventurous. I do love to travel. But I never want to give up my glorious Canadian lifestyle. Even with its flaws, I am not convinced anywhere else is better.

I don't want to live in a country where there is no health care

For all the amazing things the US has to offer, right now we don't even want to visit there, let alone move there. We've talked about it a lot, but nope. In Canada, generally speaking (although there are exceptions to every rule) we have no idea what political leaning our neighbors favor. Political campaigns last no more than 51 days; they do not start the day after the last election and go on for years. This way, elected officials actually do some work instead of campaigning. Right now, the politics in the US, as well as the judiciary, are literally insane. Gun violence in the US is insane, as is the attitude towards guns. It shouldn't take a shooting that affects you personally to make you care about it, and it's not just at schools. The US has had 28 mass killings, with 140 victims, in 6 months... but the problem is that no one down there cares about that enough to stop it, or even discuss ways to stop it. The politics is so sold out to corporations that what is good for the people just doesn't matter. It is capitalism run amok. Environmental protections? They are an inconvenience, and most of them were rolled back a few years ago under the presidency of He Who Must Not Be Named. So politics, elections, shootings... but wait. There's more. I have a wonderful friend in the US who has amazing health care, and yet when he got cancer, he was screwed. We do pay a health care premium up here, but it is a drop in the bucket compared to what people in the US pay for private insurance. Yes, you have the best hospitals in the world, but it doesn't matter if you can't afford to walk in the door. Now dump the intolerance -- racism, homophobia, religious zealots, misogyny (yes, I am talking women's rights, equal pay, access to health care, etc) -- throw in the crazies with guns, and now ask the question again. I absolutely know that Canada is not perfect, and that the tolerances and attitudes towards all these subjects differs from region to region, but overall we are a country that tries to respect the rights and needs of others, that has empathy for others, that wants to help others, and that is a pretty firm foundation to make us want to stay here. (please don't interpret this as all Americans and all areas of the US have no respect etc... but the predominant issues of health care, politics, religion, corporate greed, and violence, now all supported by a bat-crap crazy SCOTUS, sadly spills and taints it all. I know there are amazing, generous, kind people all over the US, but I don't know where the crazies are or where they might pop up).

These people are from Venezuela, Colombia and other south American countries and they are not hard workers they want everything for free

Why would anyone want to move into a country that is full of (Christian Right Wing Taliban Fundamentalists) backed by the (Federalist party). No way America is not a good place until all the Nazis have been terminated some how. Don't even mention the theocratic Hate State desired by the MAGA's that bans abortion and bans basic good well balanced education . . . Tyler you are oblivious to what happens in the US which is obvious by your reaction I think you should explore more about your own country. It seems to me Canadians know more about US history past and present, your politics, religious zealots, bigotry, racism, the list goes on. By the way the number one cause of death for children in the US is guns you might want to explore that. Going around living in your personal bubble isn't helping you realize the issues in the US and around the world. The best way for change to happen is to vote in people who will work towards it at the local, state and federal level. I don't think many Canadians would move to the US, health and hospital vists are not good enough. I further noteced that more Americans die during or after surgery. I love the sunshine in the US, but not enoughto move there. Shootings are out of control, I find that totally horrific!\nI think the American People are nice, I love the stores , because they carry different products ! I would love the borders to be open beteen \nour countries that would be ideal. Imused to work in nursing for 33 years and would have loved to work some years in the US., I loved my job . When i was younger i wanted to move to california because of the warm weather. but now that i have 2 kids. i wouldn't move anywhere in the states. i would be to scared anywhere in the states to send my children to school. and woman's rights and no you cant just ignore it. these are very important reasons. and needing to be strategic on where you move is a terrible excuse for the country currently

I really like the US. There are some great places with amazing weather. At the end of the day my home is Canada and that’s where I feel most comfortable so I would not want to move and I’d expect an American to feel the same about their country.\n\nEvery year I dislike the winter months more and more. The big 3 reasons against have been very well articulated in the video. Social safety net is lacking, health care system is\nmentally stunted, Gun culture and Religiosity are far too entrenched in the American psyche. I would add overcrowding,\na more hyper rat race, and...it's too damn hot in many places. Positive reasons to consider the move are American dominance of pop culture, ask most of the best Canadian Actors...and if you are wealthy and want to remain in Canada, it must be nice to be a snow bird for 4 months each year. Truly wealthy people can find ways to avoid taxes in both countries. I will say that the U.S. does seem to have a far better choice of regional and international food culture, in spite of the corporate fast food dominance.

I don't know if you know this Tyler but America just hit its final hour, 250 years is the expiration date for empires and your United States just hit that mark. Plus have you seen the way Canadians have socialized systems that give us a high quality of life. Our current government is still capitalist but I currently can't be kicked out by federal mandate if I keep paying rent, the liberals have put this provision in place because the housing market is out of control. I gotta say, though. I'm a French Canadian, and as far as I - and most people I know - am concerned, I love our southern brothers in general, and the few times I've visited the U.S, it was fun and we met a lot of nice, friendly people. So as a tourist, going to the U.S is great.\n\nBut yeah, I wouldn't want to live there *compared to where I am* because we have a lot of great things here which I'm told by many are just a dream right now in the U.S. Now, if we compare the U.S to many other countries out there, I'd pick them over a lot of others.

No way would I want to live down there. Dat place is crazy, dirty, and dangerous. Half the country hates everyone else, or so it seems. Given that your crazies have such easy access to guns, I think it is one of the last north western countries I would live in. \nAlso, the fact that the number one cause of personal bankruptcies in The US, is medical expenses. It is a country where a couple of stitches can cost you a thousand bucks and where insurance companies decide what treatments are available to you.\nI think it would be a terrible place to live, especially with a family.

Never lived in the US but have visited a lot. I do have family in Washington state and I really enjoy visiting that part of the country. I didn't like New York and California only because of the sheer amount of people. Way too many people for my liking. Walking down the streets I felt like I was being shoulder checked with every step. In some smaller areas, absolutely loved the people and communities. Very friendly, and I find Americans to be very patriotic which I absolutely love! Health care and gun violence would be enough to keep me away though. Now in 2023, I find America becoming political polarized. Just watching the news is enough to raise my blood pressure (which I don't even have). If I got a chance to leave the snow behind, I think I would choose overseas on a island somewhere. Also at the age where I want peace and quiet. Raised kids already so more on the downlow and quite beach life. Thanks for your videos Tyler you are definitely one of my favorite Americans. Most of those that commented we don't want in this country in the first place and my guess is that fellow Canadians wish they would leave their country.

not using email is not using outdated tech, we do have emails but most people including myself dont like using emails. I prefer talking to a human directly. Besides it was Canada that invented the phone. I am proud of my country's legacy and will stick with the phone. \nSpeaking of outdated technologies, email are outdated. The modern way to comunicate is by text because not only is it easy to read your text like emails but whenever they need comes you can switch to vocal and talk directly and if you want you canturn on your camera and see who you are talking to.... Cant do that with email.

Lots of reasons I wouldn't live in the States. But, to be fair, I bet most Americans would want to stay in their own country, too.

I’ve lived in both countries in small towns and big cities Hell No Thanks and I would have great insurance. I remember in preschool having to do active shooter drills in the US nope. If you look at stats on gun violence and mass shootings it’s crazy. The US leads by an astronomical amount. Tyler says the US has more access to guns and although I have no idea where to get a gun I think people could get one pretty easily but we don’t need them. I can walk in the dark and not fear for my safety and Canada has only had 3 mass shootings in its whole history. Of course medical, dental, education, women’s rights, maternity and paternity leave, unemployment, help when Covid lockdown happened, clean free water in homes, housing, … on and on. America the “free” is antiquated and no longer true. Education has slid to 30 something in world rankings and Canada is in the top 3. Cost of education, daycare, child benefits ect. I could write paragraphs. Also it’s hilarious when you hear American say oh we’ll just moved to Canada like they can just drive here and settle down?!?there’s a border and you can’t illegally just move here and get a job. If you’ve lived in both countries you’d know the difference. I don’t even want to vacation there anymore since about 10 years or so ago.

I think the best reasons for people to want to live in Canada is for the safety. Laws of no violence and no weapons in public. Our rapid response of Police, Fire and medical (there are bills for the Ambulance and Fire response so we do get billed at times, which also can be brought to our judicial system and potentially the bill can be dropped). \nAll across the world people need safety for their families and Canada takes refugees in large quantities. Refugee families are given a sponsored house, vehicle, paid for bills (including medical and educational) and a paid food allowance to live in until they stabilize themselves with full time work and when they are ready they can make room for other refugee families in need. \nWe have a huge area of land that is underdeveloped and there are plenty of opportunities for work in the infrastructure field. \nCanada is known across the world to host friendliness amongst its free citizens. \nAlso we aid any country in need and are the first country to respond to any natural disaster world wide. \nWe have our flaws but we feel safe and cared for with those flaws.

Why don't you want to discuss the abortion issue? For Canadian women, it's a pretty serious concern. No Canadian woman in her right mind would choose to live in a country that doesn't defend her rights. And women are more than half of the population.

Sorry Tyler, but given the current social and political environment in the USA I do not want to visit the country and definitely never move there.\n\nThe challenge for me is the realization that Canada was built on community, while I see many (too many) Americans fiercely independent and not seemingly caring about anyone but themselves. \n\nCanada IS NOT PERFECT. We have gang violence, drug issues, racism, homelessness, poverty, inefficient political and bureaucratic system, but in general I feel that people will be more polite and helpful to each other than in the US.

I spent a lot of time in the States as a child, mostly in the Los Angeles and Seattle areas. It was fun on the beach, going to Disneyland and it was nice staying with relatives and swimming in their pool everyday in the summer. However, I am Canadian and my heart belongs to Canada. Despite the fact that we as a nation do have our imperfections and problems, I am loyal to my country and want to contribute whatever I can to this place. Plus of course, there are the myriad aspects of life in the US mentioned in the video that I wouldn't be able to tolerate: lack of reproductive rights, attacks on the LGBTQ community, lack of safety/gun violence, no universal health care etc.

I live 20 minutes from the US border, I'm single and doing the online dating thing. I Get lots of people who live in the states because I live so close to the border, but I immediately reject them. That's how much I don't want to even consider involving myself with the US.\n\nAlso, I think you need to do a little bit of research about your own company because your statement that the vast majority of people have health insurance through work is completely wrong. It's less than 50%. And certainly not pension funds before they were dissolved in favor of the 401k, and the social security politicians are constantly working to cut while ever increasing the retirement age past what most people will never live to now that 45% of our water is tainted with PFOAs that will have everyone born today die of liver cancer before the age of 65.\n\nIt was CAPITALISM that made this country! The same capitalism that claws back every penny it can from working class people. America was great DESPITE capitalism. UNDERSTAND THAT.

First I feel for these people. They want to live in the greatest country in the world. Now we are staying in London for last 5months at our Daughter's home as she had expecting to deliver in March 2023. Here Government work to make life of the citizens easy and in India Government work to make the life of citizens miserable. Here road, transport, cleaning is managed properly, but in India total mismagement. We have everything in India. Good climate, good food, mountains, rivers, sea, Ice, but due to polytitics and corruption we have made India to live unbearable and our new generation doesn't find future and leaving India for best future for themselves and their children, but that don't understand that though they get British citizenship they are not British they are outsiders. You wanted freedom from British so you fought for freedom and now when you got your freedom you are leaving India and want to settle in their Country and want British Citizenship.

As far as I’m aware Venezuela can be really dangerous to live in. I might do the same thing if I was born there especially as a woman or someone with children. But even men want to live. Easy to say that you should band together to overtake corruption but harder to do it when your life is directly on the line. I feel for these people wanting and needing to flee their country. They need to come over legally so they can be accounted for and be part of the system to help share the burden of our out of control spending.
