This is not a bad thing, I miss the Canada of 10 years ago. It is unrealistic for immigrants to think that they can take a job away from a Canadian citizen. Ask yourself, as a Canadian in a foreign country, would I be treated as well as they are in Canada. In most cases, no.

I came to Canada with family as a PR holder (without a job) and my point of view is completely different. Now I am a Canadian citizen after 6 years. My view is always towards my kids future which are brighter than in India I believe. My kids (now citizen) can travel and work in Canada, India, US, UK etc. without any Visa. They are OCI as well and can enjoy life in India in future if they want. What do I want more? Initial 5 to 6 months is a struggle is for everyone though.

Indian government is not honest and never be honest in future, because the leaders are uneducated and selected from the gangs not from the universities. There are most difficult entrance tests for admission in IIT and AIIMS for developing a good engineer or doctor but there is no such test for selection of leaders of the countries. India is not growing but it is going down year by year because most of the citizens has been lost their culture. Well I had a kid this year in Québec, it was like 250$ for a single room or 20$ for double room or something. \nYeah some hospital would sell our informations to banks and diapers or food manufacturers... still cheaper than 3000$USD\nFor student I'd say if you are citizen of canada, it's like 10 time cheaper to study here than in US as far as I've seen.\nViolence is something really sad. I lived in the US for 30 years. I hated every year, except for having my sons there. My American husband is a staunch NRA supporter. At the 30 year mark, when I gave him an ultimatum. I gave him 30 years down there, and the time had come where he needed to do 30 years in Canada. We've been in Canada for 6 years, and he doesn't ever want to go back.\nI feel for the new mothers, who only get 6 weeks maternity leave (8 weeks for C-Section).\nCanadian Mums get a full year. Nurturing your new baby is necessary for a well-balanced child. You can't bond in 6 weeks. \nYour health insurance is nuts. We paid $1500/mo. just for our family. Then you have a $5k deductible first! Just walking into the ER is $500 and THEN add on labs, x-rays, meds, etc. My son was in mental health treatment and our insurance capped mental health at $25k for life. \nThe biggest slap up my head, was when I found out I CAN'T collect my SSI. I paid a lot of taxes, since we made 6 figures/year. So, now I'm screwed, since they won't pay a former Permanent Resident. Had I been a citizen, I could get it. My husband is a PR in Canada, waiting to take his citizenship test. If he applies for SSI, he needs to go down to the States for 30 days and nights, annually. \nI'm from Toronto, born and raised and I am so happy to have my feet back in my own country. My boys are still there, as well as my grandchildren. Thankfully, they fly up twice a year. You couldn't pay me to move back.

As a person born in Canada in the 50s I have seen the change in Canada over the decade to now where this Liberal gov had torn the hell out of what once was a terrific place to work and live. I'm a dual citizen, born & raised in Canada; my mom was an American, my dad a Canadian, they met in Detroit. I'm very glad they chose to settle in Canada and raise their children here. (My American mom preferred Canada. She was a stage 3 cancer survivor who outlived all her American relatives and she believed she outlived them because of Canadian healthcare.) Although I'm eligible as a dual citizen, I would never live in the US because of the cost and lack of universal health care and the gun culture in some states. I also dislike the polarization in the USA and worry we be headed the same way. Sadly, many Americans the myth of American exceptionalism.

The thing is, it's ALL priority based, so if you wait, it's because someone needs your resources even MORE than you do. Sometimes, it ends up in a tragedy, but MOST times, it allows for the neediest to get it first. \nAs far as having children here, we have a NEGATIVE birthrate, so our government PAYS us to have children. My son grew up in Quebec, and they have a double everything. Double taxes (not that bad after the tax deductions and credits), but they also Double the safety net and services, compared to the rest of Canada. Not only was childbirth free, so were the pre-natal courses and everything else, AND we got around 1000$/mo in childcare benefits, until he turned 18, with full of tax credits per kid. Plus, daycare was 5$/day back then, it's 7$/day almost 20 years later.. Pretty citizen friendly. \nThings MIGHT be changing though. Our conservatives are taking their talking points from the US GOP since COVID, and they are all-in to please their Oil lobby overlords and donators out in our prairies region. I’ve been privileged to actually live and work for long periods of time in USA, Netherlands, and China…and in a variety of locations in each country. Until recently, I’d have chosen Canada without hesitation. Canada has been rocketing into an ideological cesspool rivalling China, but so has USA and the Netherlands. As for the future…if I were middle aged (as opposed to OLD!) I would go to southeast USA Fla or Tx. Not because they are ‘better ‘ right now, but I believe USA still has a chance to sort itself out but Canada is simply too screwed up and corrupt (morally, politically, socially, & financially) to recover at least in my lifetime. I was living in northern China (Harbin) when that idiot Trudeau became PM and hoped he had a chance to improve things in general. But it is clear he (or whoever is pulling his vapid strings) has been a disaster and his current opposition shows signs of being equally awful. I believe US citizens care far more for their constitution and freedoms and more aware of the perilous situation they’re in than Canadians, many of whom still believe we have a functioning health care system. All this is coming to you from a Canadian septuagenerian, highly educated by what was (decades ago) the best educational system in the Western Hemisphere. One who benefited from a wonderful health care system before it got farmed out to private corporations and became a haven for niche specialties while starving out the family physicians who were the front line for proactive family care. I find the misinformation when comparing our ( Canadian) heath care system to yours is is huge. Firstly there is NO copay-NONE for anything. Secondly there is NO limit on cost of surgery or treatments-NONE. Sometimes there are new drugs that are very expensive and not yet covered but that is it. I have lived in the US for the winter for he past 13 years and the concept of no copay with our system just seems to be beyond their grasp. For the life of me I cannot understand why the US citizens do not want universal health care like ALL of the rest of the developed nations of the world. When someone says they have health care in the US that all comes with possibly thousands in copay fees.

I have a couple of friends who moved to the US and they would probably tell you that it’s not a bad place to live and raise your family. But, they live in Southern California and Arizona so they are living in far better climates then they ever had in Canada. Their spouses were able to get extremely good jobs that pay a lot more than they would ever be paid in Canada so they live in gated communities, their children all go to private schools, they can afford the best health insurance plans and so they are insulated from all the biggest issues that are found in the US. Being higher income families they never had to utilize any of the social security programs such as unemployment, maternity leave (they were able to stay with their child their whole childhoods), health insurance (always able to pay copays and any costs above what their insurance will cover), no worries about daycare or food stamps. They really don’t have a clue how a very high percentage of US citizens actually function daily and I think they would not be happy there if they were forced to ‘mingle with masses’

I don’t see many comments about the education system. Canada has one of the best public education systems in the world. Teachers are also valued and get paid much better. I make double or triple what an American teacher makes and that’s sad. Also Canada has the highest number of citizens that have post secondary degree (per capita)

Healthcare in Canada does have wait times, but we treat every citizen. My Doc and I agreed that there should be a small co-pay with a yearly maximum to reduce unnecessary Doctor visits.

You are better dead than poor in the USA. Your politics are entertainment, and very destressing. No matter which side you are on, about 50% of the people hate you. There is no middle ground, meanwhile your children die more from gunshot than anything else. You have made law and order a business, incarnating more citizens than any other country in the world. You have made medical a business as well, again , better dead than poor in the USA. \n I have meet some fine US people, the general population is not that much different from Canadians. ssa covers a lot of medical needs but you have to be a citizen and retired to get it if you working then you must buy insurance or the company you work for does most of them covers you while at work though but some covers more but you have to pay a copay that can get high

we lived in the USA for 14 years and actually because citizens before we moved back to Canada, and to this day, maintain dual citizenship. The health care was the biggest difference. Fighting with health care providers to get them to pay their portion of a bill was the WORST. They automatically turn down every claim the first time around so you have to get on the phone and fight with them. In the USA, you can only see doctors within your health care provider, or you have to pay full on to see someone outside it. You also have to pay to see your family doctor even if its for a annual check up. NONE of that happens in Canada. Health care in Canada is provided by the government. Health care in America is a BUSINESS, and they are all fighting for your $$. Being self employed in the USA was an eye opener, with a $1100. a month premium, so that we had a reduced annual deductible. No deductible or monthly premiums in Canada. Americans should NOT HAVE TO DECLARE BANKRUPTCY just because they get sick. Otherwise, we loved living there. Great people, awesome Mexican food (you can't get that in Canada), beautiful beaches and excellent access to them. Amazing highway systems,. At the time we lived there, housing was affordable, food and clothing were cheaper than Canada. None of that is true these days. You guys pay as much as we do for food and shelter.

My wife works with immigrants to help them deal with various problems adapting, finding housing, cars, translating,etc. Over time we’ve become friends with the community. The Venezuelans have stood out as very fine potential citizens. Their plight is especially dire. Most were skilled professionals driven from their country by massive inflation, and they lost everything they had as a result. Homes, cars, savings. You can’t rebuild a country when all the government is broken and you can’t feed your family. They will make fine citizens.

I moved in Toronto in 2015 and been living here since then. I was really happy to move here and became a resident and citizen. It was what I wanted for a long time. Now I can’t deny the fact that I’m not feeling in alignment with this city anymore. Hustle & bustle to cover your basic physiological needs get in the way of my peace and mental health. It has even become stronger after the shutdown. I’m currently planning my solo packaging trip to South East Asia and really considering moving out of Canada in the next year.

FYI I know for a fact( working as interpreter in various courts) all these illegals have practically free medical insurance. Me as an USA citizen I must pay for it \nAlso any arrested for felonies are left out on a bond without a court date. In accordance with what the county clerks/ Gwinnett Co GA/ told me they might be scheduled anytime between 6 to 12 months most likely very late.
