So I work for a us company. I have for 5 years. in my industry, tech, pay scale is a lot more positive in the states than Canada. I have been offered several times, to have my move paid for, visas and all that jazz, and I still haven't made the jump. \n\nMy salary is also comfortable enough to afford health care, and I still haven't moved. I don't think Americans realize how poor their insurance is. Also have health issues in general.\n\nI also participate in sports that cause injuries (notice I implied I will definitely get injured). I would not want to have American coverage, in fact how do Americans financially justify casual sport activity.\n\nI won't go into political differences. It's extremely nuanced and an extremely interesting conversation. I don't like the Dems very much and the repubs are even worse. \n\nAll of this said it's always on my mind. Its a consideration but seems unlikely. Arizona/Utah/Colorado are my jam. Would love to be there, if it was Canada.

Only a fool would move from Canada to America - or a billionaire, or a lawyer or doctor. And basically that tells you everything you need to know. Normal people can't afford to be ill, can't afford to need recourse to the law and most of all are going to get shot by either an out-of-control terrified policeman or the next person they cut off at a junction.\nAlso, who wants to live in a country where everyone thinks they are superior to the entire rest of the world because their average calorie intake is enough to feed three normal humans? - AND I speak as someone who is really quite fat in the UK. ( but I'm only a 'medium' in America. :) )

The trick is to live in Canada and to still have enough money to go somewhere warm for 3 months in the winter. Canadian shelter costs are very high relative to many parts of the US.

First time that I watched your channel - and I commend your candor and your openness. I lived in Canada in the Niagara peninsula and the Greater Toronto Area from 1953 to 1989. Then in 1990, I had a job opportunity to work for a Michigan base company that allowed me much global business travel. I could have moved to Michigan with my wife and two sons however I decided that my residence would still be in Canada on the Windsor side of the Detroit river. I commute every working day across the border and I am glad that I did in fact remain a resident of Canada. I do have a green card still to this day in 2023 as I continue to work for the same company. I can tell you that the for the first few months in 1990, every time that I would cross the border to go back home, I felt a sense of ease and contentment to be back in Canada. I do like the USA but I prefer living in Canada.

I had a friend whos family split up and all 4 children and their mom ended up down in Philadelphia somewhere (some cult/religious thing she got into that started the whole divorce ect) and they would come back to Canada for visits. When he would explain going to school, having to walk through metal detectors on the way in, guarded by cops with SMG's I just couldn't fathom what he was talking about or why it would be needed. Luckily I managed to convince him to stay one time when he came and visited and still lives here. Personally I'm considering moving with how hostile my government here in Canada has become to anything oil/gas/nuclear/fertilizer. My trade (Steamfitter/Pipefitter) is being reduced to shut down work only and I have some family down in Texas and its pushing me more and more to start looking elsewhere for work. However I'm single, if I had a family there would be no way id leave. As good of healthcare you have down there (way better than most if not all of Canada in relation to wait times and expertise), one long illness or something and they drop your health care? Your screwed. Plain and simple.

I am a Canadian and I love the cheaper gas and groceries but I’d never live there. I’ve been in and out of hospitals had about 10 surgeries so far at 46 and I’m transgender I could never survive there. When I use to live in Windsor Ontario and lived across from Detroit I use to go over to buy groceries and gas but that enough for me. No offence to anyone it just wouldn’t work for me. I’m proud to be a Canadian and I live in Nova Scotia Canada and health care sucks in the sense waiting for things like surgeries and MRI takes a long time I know someone who waited 2 years for one but it is free and I would probably be dead if I had to pay for healthcare so I’ll stay here.

My American husband and I choose Canada when we first got married due to health care and educational reasons. My husband has been in Canada for almost 13 years and says he would never move back to the US. I joke about moving to California or Hawaii (somewhere warm) any time it gets to -30 Celsius or colder and he says over his dead body will he ever go back.

For all the amazing things the US has to offer, right now we don't even want to visit there, let alone move there. We've talked about it a lot, but nope. In Canada, generally speaking (although there are exceptions to every rule) we have no idea what political leaning our neighbors favor. Political campaigns last no more than 51 days; they do not start the day after the last election and go on for years. This way, elected officials actually do some work instead of campaigning. Right now, the politics in the US, as well as the judiciary, are literally insane. Gun violence in the US is insane, as is the attitude towards guns. It shouldn't take a shooting that affects you personally to make you care about it, and it's not just at schools. The US has had 28 mass killings, with 140 victims, in 6 months... but the problem is that no one down there cares about that enough to stop it, or even discuss ways to stop it. The politics is so sold out to corporations that what is good for the people just doesn't matter. It is capitalism run amok. Environmental protections? They are an inconvenience, and most of them were rolled back a few years ago under the presidency of He Who Must Not Be Named. So politics, elections, shootings... but wait. There's more. I have a wonderful friend in the US who has amazing health care, and yet when he got cancer, he was screwed. We do pay a health care premium up here, but it is a drop in the bucket compared to what people in the US pay for private insurance. Yes, you have the best hospitals in the world, but it doesn't matter if you can't afford to walk in the door. Now dump the intolerance -- racism, homophobia, religious zealots, misogyny (yes, I am talking women's rights, equal pay, access to health care, etc) -- throw in the crazies with guns, and now ask the question again. I absolutely know that Canada is not perfect, and that the tolerances and attitudes towards all these subjects differs from region to region, but overall we are a country that tries to respect the rights and needs of others, that has empathy for others, that wants to help others, and that is a pretty firm foundation to make us want to stay here. (please don't interpret this as all Americans and all areas of the US have no respect etc... but the predominant issues of health care, politics, religion, corporate greed, and violence, now all supported by a bat-crap crazy SCOTUS, sadly spills and taints it all. I know there are amazing, generous, kind people all over the US, but I don't know where the crazies are or where they might pop up).

I'm going to answer this before even watching the video. My reasons for not moving to the U.S. are straightforward: 1) my career entrenches me here; and 2) the financial problems Americans face over the private medical insurance system are a huge deterrent. Other problems: politics is too polarized and too many guns. It gets tempting to move there though. You can have pretty much whatever climate you want (tropical, dessert, mountains, boreal forests, etc.) and it's the world's economic heartland. Things in Canada aren't perfect either. American median income is now 40% higher than that of Canada. That's shameful.

Complaining is easy but if you are unhappy then there is one more easier way to resolve the crying issue, just buy a return ticket and fly back to India tonight , ummm but you won't go back and prefer crying in Canada ?

Just to let you know some Canadians are Considering Moving to the US or Europe Since Justin Trudeau is turning Canada it to a Totalion Dictator Ship with Killing off the homeless, Low-income people and some low-middle income people in favor of Mid-Middle income people and Higher. I was born in El Salvador. I have a lot of family in the USA. At the worst moment in El Salvador's situation with the gang violence I would always prefer to go back to El Salvador if I had to leave Canada

I would not consider moving to the states for any reason, but my reason at this point is that I’m terminally ill and disabled and I can’t even get travel insurance to be able to visit my family there. My mother’s family are all Americans. I had a lot of fun visiting them in my late teens, back in the early 90’s but now I wouldn’t even drive across the border to go shopping. Well, I do go across the border to Alaska, because that’s just an hour away, but Alaska is very different from the continental United States. And I only go to Skagway for the afternoon to get fish and chips. I welcome Americans to Canada with open arms, but I have zero desire to ever live or visit there. One at a time, on my terms, in my country, Americans are great, but your nation is falling apart at the seams. I don’t feel safe there at all.

To your point about choosing where exactly in the US you live - I grew up for 26 years near Toronto but have lived in the US for the last 20 (husband is American). We live in a bubble of like-minded and similar people, and there are very few places in the US we could tolerate. Also, DO NOT underestimate the effects of school shootings on families. I have kids and I'm a teacher. It's on my mind EVERY SINGLE DAY. I'm kind of hoping my kids decide to go to university in Canada. Finally, don't forget that for good health insurance, you are paying a premium just for the coverage, and then on top of that if anything happens you are paying hundreds/thousands of dollars for the services!

In Canada you can be the poorest of the poor and get the same health care as almost everyone else. The very rich can choose to travel to get treatment elsewhere. No one in Canada is ever denied healthcare. We do have to pay for ambulances but there is goverment assistance for that. We do have to pay for medication but you can buy reasonablle copay policies for that. GO CANADA GO?

Healthcare in Canada is falling apart, our prime minister is trying to turn us into a dictatorship, cost of living has gone extreme especially buying a house.......Canada is not Canada at the moment, I would wait before moving here yet lol. Tyler we are bombarded with videos of robbing, mass shootings, crazy Neighbours, car jackings, corrupt police, drug infested streets and homelessness, crazy politics etc. every day. Some of this happens in Canada but in tiny doses and that's the way I like it. California use to be beautiful now it's a ghetto. Tyler, with complete respect you DON'T get why we generally have no interest in moving to the US. You constantly talk about 'you just have to find the right place to live'. True of anywhere, but here the choice would be about preferences and afordability, NOT to avoid gun violence or shunning because of political views.\nThere is no where in Canada I could move to where gun violence would be a big factor to consider (we have rough places, and gun violence, but STRICT gun laws). Let me give you some perspective. In 2019 the USA had 37,038 gun related deaths. (No other causes of death- JUST all gun death). In Canada, in 2019, our death by illegal means (which does include suicide, as it is illegal) was 5,874. (That is for ALL types of homicide, not just guns). And the government was shocked by the increase that year and tightened gun restrictions further.\nYou talk about having certain States more Red or Blue. We aren't bi- partisan, so our politics are a melting pot. You might have people you disagree with everywhere you go, but you will also always find an equal group who thinks similar (unless your an extremist). And even the people who think different will generally agree to dis- agree. There is next to nowhere in Canada where your political views would get you run out of town. \n\nYou are USED to thinking like an American. (Fair, your American; I think like a Canadian) Trust me, as a Canadian, there are aspects of the accepted American culture (your country's way of life) that is boarderline terrifying to people here.

Tldr, No\n\nI almost moved to the US, I was going to a US university having an absolute blast. I was seriously looking at staying in the US. I had a job offer for when I graduated. Then 2001 happened. On September 7th i got on a plane for a funeral back in Canada on the 10th, return flight was the afternoon of the 11th. Of course that flight never happened.\n\nIn the shadow of 2001, how the US has been changing has been disappointing to watch. What's frightening is how Canada has also been changing

America is a beautiful country to look at, and I'm sure there are lots of beautiful people, but the arrogance of some of them is mind blowing. I recently watched the news footage of 911, I cried all the way through that, first out of compassion and next out of frustration. When people were jumping out of those towers, George Dubya was making a statement that terrorism would not stand in America. What did he think was standing in his face. The terrorists won that day. Then when they got Bin Laden He stands up and says we got him . Big deal you got one person , when there are dozens to take his place. No mention of other countries that helped them. , they have taken full credit for every war that ever happened. They wonder why the rest of the world hates that country. The sad thing is that 911 didn't teach them a thing. They brag about how they lost 3000 people and other countries only lost a few to terrorism. How sad that they think that way. You had a great president in Obama, but you have that 2 term rule and have been going downhill ever since. And our Canada's Prime minister is certainly nothing to be proud of. Politically he's no threat to anybody, but his own country. Mostly he is an immoral threat to his own country. But that's another vent for another day. I suggest google’n “ school shootings, small town America”…. article after article, when you do, says why most mass school shootings tend to happen in small towns….where nobody expects that they would have happened & how all the residents in those towns are always surprised that they happened in their town. \nI say this as somebody who once loved the idea of moving to the USA. \nMy mom was a single parent and as a result I spent a ton of time as a very young kid in the late 80s throughout the mid 90s in a small town in Oregon on my aunt and uncles dairy farm with my cousins and I absolutely loved it. Truthfully, I still love small-town America and I love the vast majority of the people I have met from small-town America. There is the friendliness and community that I find very similar to prairie farming towns in Canada. \n And as a kid, I loved the focus on high school sports in the small USA town I spent time in and how it brought the community together. It was very exciting to go to my cousins football games—stuff like that was super fun as a kid.\nAs an adult, with 2 young kids of my own now? \nYes, I would be terrified to send my children to any school in the United States, especially knowing that the vast majority of my school shootings do happen in small towns, which is a type of place in the states I would personally like to go to, if I did move. \n\nAdditionally, I will be completely bankrupt at this point given my own health issues as well as my two kids health issues and I’m just in my late 30s. \nAnd I’m not talking to super crazy health issues, but health issues nonetheless. I have asthma that has gone through patches where I’ve had to be hospitalized & I was diagnosed with stage 3 malignant melanoma when I was in my late 20s and pregnant with my 2nd. My first child was born with a congenital heart disorder that was missed through the pregnancy and until she was two, and that involved many many trips to the hospital & various specialists until they figured out what was going on (one of the symptoms was her randomly stopping breathing and going blue, which was terrifying, and could’ve been for many different reasons & it took many specialists & many hospital visits to figure it all out)\nMy son was born with a multiple protein intolerance and later received an autism diagnosis. There a decent number of hospital visits and specialists for his first couple of years of life too. \n\n I have no idea if I was in the United States how I would’ve paid for any of our health issues (let alone all three of ours) for that 5 or 6 year period where we all needed various types of regular-ish medical care. \n(because we got good medical care, thankfully, none of us have really had to see doctors any more than the average person in the last few years?)\n\nMy kids are now in elementary school, and, as a Canadian, the issue of school shootings happening anywhere….., including in small towns that seem perfectly safe……as well as the cost of healthcare for stuff that is covered by our taxes here in Canada….. are the two biggest reasons that I will think fondly of my time in small-town America, but would never consider moving there

I lived in MA for 17 years. I liked it and have many friends from there. I would go back, but yes, the healthcare would stop me. Getting older, needing more medical intervention. Not having to worry about healthcare costs is easy. I also said that the US was one step away from being behind the iron curtain. There is not the same freedoms there as there is here in Canada. The media controls the nation. Too much news. Not so here.\n\nWhile in Florida recently, my friends granddaughter was in a mall hiding from an active shooter. She was calm, I was hysterical.

I could live in Southern California, Washington state or Miami area. Been there many times. I love going shopping and eating there.\n\nMy wife is from a foreign country and prefers Canada. She only likes North Vancouver as well to live.

Originally from a border town, NOPE! Your allowed open carry guns while drinking....never a good idea. The gun violence is a big one. We do have a huge hunting and fishing culture and even though some form of violence maybe on the rise in Canada...I still don't lock my door often unless going for an extended diner / movie type night and we have the kids with us ( both teens ), encountering guns on the street is rare here still, your more likely to encounter knives. My wife carries a pocket knife in her purse it's just handy for all types of things when your out. She' grew up hunting and fishing for her it's a tool not a weapon. hello, Canadian here. i believe that ( personally ) if Canada had the same freedom for weapons as the USA, things wouldn't go as bad as the USA. or wouldn't change at all. the main problem, which americans at large still refuses to admit it seems, or at least the loudest ones, is that it's a culture problem, not a gun problem. the whole of USA culturally is kinda rotten with way more chances for someone to just crack and go nuts, or commit a shitty act out of desperation, anything. while in Canada, we have people and gorups to help take care of this. we do not bankrupt people by making them seek help at hospital, and so on. the whole socio-economic of the USA is to blame for this. \n\nin my humble, basement dwelling person opinion as someone who thought about this subject for a while.

I wouldn’t move to the US and the medical is only the second reason my number one reason is your lack of freedom. For instance I have always had cats, at this moment I have three cats who are my pride and joy, two of them even go out for walks with me in a pet stroller and even came with me yesterday to the Scottish festival in my neighbourhood and the problem with moving to the US is Landlords can tell you that you have to get rid of your pets were here in Canada, in my part of Canada anyway it is going against your rights to tell you you can’t have your pet and there is no way in hell I would get rid of my cats they are my family and my only family so because of that I would not move to the United States

Most of these responses seemed to be from left-leaning people in Canada. British Columbia is NDP, socialist leaning, in other words. I'm from Alberta. We recently had an election here and made it abundantly clear we do not want the NDP running our province. We have a gun culture here and won't give up our arms. I didn't read one mention of the PM in Canada. Yet, walk around and all you hear about is the hatred people have of him and the division he has caused. The leader of the NDP sides with him. I actually have dual citizenship, so harbor no bad feelings to the US. I just don't go where there are a lot of left-leaning Dems/Liberals. Alberta to Texas is almost like not leaving Alberta, just going to the ranch down the way and visiting family.

Very true. I go to America and Canada to meet my children. For older people day start with cleaning utensils, cooking food, washing and cleaning home. And no social life for older people. Very costly everything. No friends,very lonely life. Children have their careers, life so they r helpless. My son in America provides us with all luxuries but very boring after some time. Love my life in my home, my country. I have my social life and love it.

Government and People of Canada didn't invite these people. If they don't like the environment here, they should go back. These people aren't used to work with their hands. We can't afford these people with Canadian Tax Payers.

The base of homelessness in Canada is because they don’t treat them at the time of need if depression is in its very earliest stage it’s treatable but when it gets in middle high and severe level than that’s untreatable why ? The problem with Canada's economy is that it's totally controlled by the .01% elite who couldn't care less for Canadians other than the production they contribute to their agenda. Financial, sexual, surgical, entertainment, land, power. Their religion is to serve Mammon and so the world is in trouble. Lucky for us they will go down hard but not before we all go down. I live in canada and am starting my final year of high-school in the fall. I have a lot of friends my age, none of us are planning to stay. All of us are going to the States or Europe. We're not leaving because we don't like Canada, we're being forced out because its too expensive to survive. The last two years have been a slow realization that the options for people my age are A) live on the support of your parents for the rest of your foreseeable life, B) become homeless, or C) leave.\n\nIts especially painful because a lot of people here came from immigrant families who worked hard to come here for a better life for their kids, just to have their kids leave for elsewhere or even return to their country of origin.
