Nobody in Canada looks like me anywhere. I was born there but it does not feel like my home. Seems like everybody is from somewhere else..china, india.. I am a foreigner when I travel, and a foreigner when I'm in Can where I was born. To be honest I'd rather be dead than go back to Canada

I've lived here all my life. Worked here all my life. Only been out of the country for maybe 3 weeks total. I'm 66 years ago. One thing that really bothers me about canada, is that bad management seems to be almost everywhere. From the private sector to the public sector. I'm not saying everything is poorly managed, but my impression is that about 80% of it is. For example, canada has the third largest oil reserves in the world, and we import oil. I think immigrants should think about this before coming here. Do you really want to be part of a team like this? How do I get around this bad management. I work for myself.

Religious charity is one more way to spread wings in a foreign country. What Canada needs is real educated and skilled migrants not pass-and-fly by night sorts. Otherwise it's future seems dark and bleak.

Can any one provide some guidance that how can a person having a banking career qualify for Canadian immigration. To Rory, if you're worried on how difficult it would be to stand up against a racial discrimination I can suggest you to look and learn from either any other animals or even children works too. They aren't born with the racial prejudice, it's all the from the culture and the government which seem to care but done nothing at all.

Great information! The only thing I would add is the cost of living. Our wages may seem high to people from other countries, even after taxes and deductions, but the cost of living in cities such as Vancouver and Toronto is very high while other cities may pay similar and be considerably cheaper leaving you width more disposable income. Of course, not all cities in Canada have the same to offer in terms of weather and amenities such as beaches.

When we as black people can heal and learn to coexist and value each other the way other races value their own this won't matter as much. As a black man I am targeted by EVERYBODY black, white all other races even black women and I'm sure black women feel the same. There is some sort of systemic prejudice in every country. I'm all for making changes, but I wouldn't over-blow how much of a problem it is in Canada. From the statistics I've seen, it doesn't seem significant, unless someone can show me otherwise.

This whole “micro aggression” nonsense is what completely makes people not take racism seriously and as a real issue. I for one am not saying I’m one of those people but I’m just making an observation. Because along with real problems of people literally hating a certain group and thinking they’re above them just because their skin is a different color than them, we lump somebody touching your hair?? Sounds more like she just wasn’t comfortable with somebody doing that, and most people would probably say that they’d be uncomfortable with something like that, regardless of their ethnicity. I don't see myself staying here, but all my family and friends live here.... I'd leave everything behind. I don't know what to do. First mistake he went illegal to the USA. Then he wants Canada to accept him with open arms. Also seems like he never made an effort to learn English after all this time in the USA & Canada. Since taxes seem to be biggest interest. This is latest stat for average household: 40% to taxes and 32% to living (home, food, transportation) with taxes expect to go up even more under current government. And FYI, weather in Vancouver is mild but has one of the highest standards of living and homelessness in Canada. And we don’t have “free” healthcare it’s socialized. So going to clinic for basic check up is ok but anything more there are long wait times with many choosing to go out of country to get treatments. It’s important to be mindful of the propaganda about Canada or any country really. I love my country but it’s not a wonderland.
