Not doing a complete immigration reform is responsible for this. We can protect our country and have proper immigration policies at the same time that are not lengthy for years. Our government has done nothing but empower human trafficking and coyotes. The lies that are being told to these people to make them put themselves at risk to come here is disgusting. Do you all honestly think the U.S. can handle this influx? I wonder how much of this could be resolved if we decided to pull back senseless embargoes that aren’t achieving policy objectives. Let Venezuelans and Cubans, for example, rule their nations as they wish and stop punishing them for regimes not politically aligned with the USA. It’s this bs that people like Putin use to justify their injustices abroad given that the USA insistes on a global rules-based order in which she alone sets the rules. Many, not all of, these people wanting to cross the border are coming to people who can house them. Many have family already in the USA. Instead of criminalising refuge seekers, the gov should use them, set a wage that's lower than the standard, charge for their services at the standard, for a period of time, enough for these ppl to get their footing , use the difference to fund programmes and tackle different aspects of the problem, keep tabs on families and individuals by making ppl register, use them to fix infrastructure and do jobs that otherwise go unfilled, many of these people are skilled and hard workers, they will have a reason to stay within the boundaries of society, the country will have more money circulating, but they situation is being misused, it's an opportunity to get ahead, it's an opportunity to increase natural citizens skills and living conditions, to create other jobs and industries, and to fix the economy, strengthen economic and political ties with the countries these ppl are coming from, and also charge a tax in whatever way can be done to these countries per person they recieve.things like housing, many of these workers can build houses, and that gap between lowered wage and standard wage or tax for entering America illegally, could be used to fund better public housing, etc.

You forgot 1 major point-\nAt least here in Canada, we don't have to live in fear of gun violence. We don't send our children only for them to be massacred in their schools. Some good points were touched on. We need solutions! What does this mean?\n\n- We need some immigration discipline. Yes, it's great to let immigration in, especially ones that pay taxes, but it's overburdening both the rental/housing demand (which needs opposing pressure to lower prices) as well as healthcare demand, which is not being properly addressed. Instead our healthcare system is flooded. And it's inefficient and expensive as is already. We just need to tame the number of people we allow in, and grow our ability to self-sustain first.\n- It's too late now, but government policies to give out money during COVID was poorly executed, yet plentiful. When 40% of currency was printed in the last year/two, no doubt we will have inflation. This was never touched upon in the video. Resources/social supports should have been provided rather than just straight up $$$. There was an excess of money given to places they shouldn't have been. We saw a boom in industries like say hobbies and games, showing additional money being wasted where it should have been used for food and shelter. \n- Canadian government is not trying to be as aggressive to retain Canadian companies. We are heavily dependent on US corporations and hence the brain drain as well. Salaries do not compare, especially when remote work is now possible. \n\nWe are already deep in the hole and need to be more financially responsible. I'd strongly disagree with the last statement in this video that we are perceived as corrupt (there's been lots of civil unrest because of government misspending). We are civil and polite, but that's not what helps economies grow, as OCED forecasts as well.

Politics is the reason... When Venezuela went on supporting countries that's not with US

As a child of European immigrants, I'm entitled to EU citizenship by descent. But it's a bureaucratic nightmare and involves spending thousands on lawyers. I never had a compelling reason to bother with that, but with the complete insanity of housing costs in Canada in the last decade I'm seriously considering it. This country is developing serious issues and no political party has the stones to do anything about it.

The politics of Canada are no longer 'tolerant and liberal'. We are losing our freedoms daily (refer Bill C-11). We are becoming stifled by censorship. We have a spiralling housing crisis. Known murderers are being freed after a few days on bail, leading to a far less safe social environment than we traditionally had. Our skyrocketing inflation and insanely high taxes are crushing our quality of life. The entire situation is deteriorating week to week since there is an active agenda to destroy our economy and society. I should also mention that our health care system is in a state of collapse.

From political policy, foreign policies , investment etc Canada becomes the “little brother “ of US. That is the reason of the gap between US and Canada, and that is the purposely designed result.

Unless you plan to live in a very impoverished, run-down, and dangerous area. In a “good” suburb, not great, you’re looking at $686K - $749K. Most are now selling between $812K - $1M. I’m sorry my friend, those stats are a mirage. They blend in cheap apartments in Edmonton into those stats. For petroleum engineering, congrats for finishing those studies, but it’s been a long-standing political battle in Canada; Albert vs. Ontario on this issue. The current liberal government is openly trying to destroy the industry you’re in and you will struggle immensely to find work.

I think this video is good overall, but downplays the potential severity of our housing crisis. It's not just a problem for renters. Rapid expansion in finance and real estate are only a good thing if they are backed up by real growth, otherwise it's just a bubble that puts the entire national economy at risk. In Canada, it's got many characteristics of a bubble that will crash during an interest rate rise or economic crisis.\n\nAlso income inequality is not the whole story. The law in Québec applies to all religious symbols and has nothing about it that specifically targets Muslims. Wanting our public servants in positions of authority to not show allegiance to any religion is a legitimate endeavour and has nothing to do with discrimination, just like preventing them from wearing political symbols is not discrimination either.
