A society where people are not allowed to carry any tools to defend themselves. The police didnt even get there a day later. what a joke. The police will protect you they say. This lady could have gotten hurt or even killed. Canada is a joke. Asians here in the US are all carrying defensive tools such as pepper spray and firearms. As a Canadian-American I can only say the majority of Canadians are not nicer as the big cities such as Toronto are terrible but people in more suburban and rural areas are generally kinder than in the states

We have alot of temporary foreign workers here in Canada, now that the jobs have all been takened up by Philipinos, has the Govt thought well Gee maybe we should stop bringing low educated people over and give the jobs to the people that live here? What you say people dont want to do low end jobs? well now that citizens are desperate to work they will do any job.

I am Latino living in Toronto and i have experienced racism from some Asian and black folks (i am quarter black) but I still strive to make positive experiences with people everyday. Just here to say, racism is not just white supremacists, if you are going to fight racism, please fight all of it, not just one sect.

I mean racism is probably a big problem in canada..\n'But as a whole I think on the defund the police I think this is a one sided piece that didnt portray any defense of the police only criticism, in good journalism you need to let someone defend themselves and bring their perspective, this type of journalism is what you get if you have a ideologically possessed 23 year old fresh out of left wing college.. Perhaps learn real journalism try to portray facts not oppinions formost.. Hmmm, how do I say this?? WE ARE NOT SURROUNDED BY RACISM!! In my line of work, I'm around people of every color, shape and size. There simply is no racism anywhere I go. This bs only exists in the media. It's all an illusion.

If they our and the govt is still letting planes in from china , in from virus hot spots, other countries it's not being prejudice worrying about catching co vid , getting sick may be dying , the govt , the tv media it's there fault they have put so much fear into the population , plus on CBC , global a infectious disease expert said 15 percent of the cases were from international essential travelers in two months 270 came to Canada, example say 20 confirm 3 our from international essential tavelers , about mask, how come cases our going up as soon as they make people ware mask, grocery stores, all workers and people keep touching them , letting them down for a second to catch there breath,, scratching there face , now it's contaminated , it's the same with the whole country , carry alcohol and a running water, carrying a sink around all the time to be 100 percent safe from wearing mask.\n, in hospital medical professional , even touch there mask , face too , get contaminated ,so how do you think 2 years and above can have that kind of control. First of all regarding the Oscars, I didn't think US was that good and you don't really think I hope that you should be awarded just because you're black? that's very racist period. What I have noticed all my life living in Canada is Caucasians don't like hearing the truth about anything where they are feel they are being made to look like the villain, but the objective is not to make anyone feel like they're on trial but to start acknowledging that this is going on regardless of if you've ever experienced/seen it or not. The reason Caucasians don't see it is because of what they call White Privilege. Caucasians will never have to deal with the subtleties of racism that minorities face everyday because they will never be treated that way even in other countries they visit or live. Many Caucasians aren't aware that stereotyping is racism as you will notice them say the weirdest things and make really weird assumptions like calling a Korean woman Chinese or mistaking a Hindu or Sikh for someone Islamic, which you should never do. Cultural insensitivity happens here because many Caucasians don't care much to learn about another culture and because of this there's it's creating even more issues. The race problem is Canada is huge and people are trying to say that it isn't but in the coming years more and more evidence is going to come out to the point where it will be irrefutable and there will either be a reform or civil war.

Racism was far more prevalent in Canada decades ago. I remember hearing stories from my aunts and uncles about the types of things that would happen when they first arrived in the country. People would heckle and threaten visible minorities. \n\nBut I can say I have personally never experienced systemic racism in Canada. This country gave my family and I opportunity, safety and a just system. I was born and raised in Canada, and this is my home. There is no other country I would want to live in.\n\nLong live Canada and what it stands for. God bless this land.\n\n\nEdit: I forgot to add that the post secondary program I graduated from had a disproportionately high percentage of students belonging to visible minorities. This is the case with similar programs across Canada. One could argue Caucasian students are grossly underrepresented in this program. Does this not fit the definition of systemic racism stated in this video?

Honestly, it's hard to say. These men are not equal in looks in my opinion. There's something to say about attractive people getting preferential treatment. Not that there isn't racism. There definitely is. But it's hard to quantify with these experiments.

It's so blatant what's going on now. This isn't about race. This is about divide. Whoever these people are who are telling what these companies/media to say are clearly trying to get us fighting each other. It really seems like they're trying to divert attention. If we're all fighting each other we're not paying attention to what's happening to the side. \n\nPlease people. Right, left, black, white, blue, yellow, atheist, or religious. We need to come together. They are using our beliefs against us. I know it's hard to see other's views when they are so radically different than your own, but we have to look at the bigger picture.

White male here, I cant stand hearing over weight white politicians say there is no systemic racism here. We need to rid poverty from our society to help end racism. Lets end the way we use banks and debt. Basic income and metal health for ALL people!

The problem seems to be that the premier’s don’t know the definition of systemic racism. Systemic racism is about institutions, governments, banks, schools, etc limiting access to minorities all minorities. It’s worse in Canada than it is in the US. Look at Canada how many black are in people if government are represented in the government. Look at the companies you work for how many minorities are CEO’s or CFO’s how many VP’s. This is why I say it’s worse in Canada than the US, cause at least in the US upward mobility is not limited to only one minority group but all visible minorities.

When she says that people are in jail for weed, she really means people caught with pounds of weed, no one is in jail for having some personal weed on hand.

Oppression of a race is ofcourse unacceptable, But it is made to seem that racism is worse now than decades before, like when blacks were forced to sit in the back of the bus, and native kids were put in residential schools, Such things i think were real forms of systemic racism, i am not saying that racism does still not exist anymore, It clearly does. Changes were made so no mattter what back ground you come from your believes and traditions must be accepted as part of a multicultural people in north america. But if you only focus on the mistakes of the past, and blame the sons and daughters for the sins of thier fathers, It will only drive in a nail into an invisible wall of indifference and bring true forms of rasism back!!!

I’m so disgusted in a people who think simply because of the color of their skin their superior. God made us all and he never said you are more than I. But what can you expect, it’s learned, passed down from one generation to another. So sad, some have the nerve to say their Christian, no wonder some people want nothing to do with Christians, but make no mistake all Christians aren’t reglious, some actually read the Bible and know what is right. They know about grace and not performance.

To all the people saying ‘we’re better than country X’... that’s not the point. The point is that we can be better than we are right now.

Its funny when they bring up pot and say that it benefits whites when in reality its not. Come to the rez were I live near and you will see so many pot shops but when a white person wants to open one up in the city its a big deal. And the government won't allow them to open up a shop. Its unbelievable how people are so blind to see that the true racism in Canada is not between white or black but between French and English. You get paid more if you know French, its mandatory to learn French in a city that maybe has ten french canadians, look at how much more Quebec gets represented, if Quebec does not like something then it never happens, Quebec can ban people from wearing religious icons that are not catholic yet the government allows this. You may not like it but its true its all about the big cities and Quebec here in Canada.

How does systematic racism look? It looks like the Québec Prime Minister saying that does not exist. The question must be answered by the people who suffers it each day, not by the elite population that dominates the rest.

I am sorry to say this but really where you guys worked here in India. ???? not to brag but i make quite decent here in India itself. Have my own car and 3 houses. 2 of my parents and 1 of my own. I guess its a good option for people who planned to work at gas station here also.

Canada being filled with tolerant and nice people and Europe being a bastion of tolerance cannot be further from the truth. Ive been to usa, western europe, canada and id say strangely enough its the USA that is most tolerant of gays and people of color.

Of all the people in Canada who are convicted of shop lifting, what are the proportions of whites, latinos, blacks or aboriginals? Are shopkeepers justified in their suspicion? We hear a great deal about racism, but never any comparative statistics that prove or disprove it. What I am trying to say is: is there any reason why this prejudice exists in the first place?\nIn Edmonton a few years ago an aboriginal man died of a stroke while waiting for triage in a hospital emergency area. IF I remember correctly, police and hospital staff alike assumed he was drunk, not suffering a stroke. I think the chances of someone in a downtown lower east side area being drunk is much higher than having a stroke. So staff just assumed he was drunk. \nIf more people of all ethnic backgrounds behaved more like whites would that suspicion disappear? I wonder if there is a logical and reasonable explanation for why shop keepers feel they way they do.

Why not go undercover among blacks and coloreds and let us hear what they say about whites? I am a black man and in my opinion the only people I hear racism from every day are black people.

Hey Yes there is a problem of racism in Canada too. They will not show directly but indirectly will do that at most of the places. Its really rude especially when i try to help out somebody or don’t have any intentions to hurt people. I always try to make people happy and smile. Why is that? Before anything we are all humans, that should all matters. Please being respectful to everybody, you never know how the person is already going through in their lives. This happens both ways and is very real in Canada, but the racism against white community is just as bad if not worse than the other way around. Landlords won't rent to white people especially with kids. Some stores dont hire white people anymore. It's very Sad and it's in our faces but once again no one has the stones to dare say anything about it.

Nobody should have to put up with this kind of nonsense. People who mistreat others on the basis of race can, in many situations, be reported to people in positions in authority. Expose them and ostracize them, I say.

Racism is more in the open now, I am a senior and really do not know what words they use to discriminate these days, however my husband and I were walking in Walmart one day, then in between the aisles a disabled youth was walking with his mother and was coming towards us, then he said look, look a cockroach and pointed at us. My husband looked at me and I looked at him, no one else around,we realized he was calling us cockroach, needless to say, we thought hmmm, that person could hardly walk and he is calling us cockroach. We walked out of the store totally shocked. I was later told young people are getting their info from the dark web. We called it ignorance and left it that.

My parents came to Canada as teenagers, and they are non-European immigrants. The kindest and most compassionate people Ive ever met and im not saying that because im their son but because its true, im nothing like them anymore. Being born and raised in Canada I have NEVER felt like this is my home or that I belong/am welcomed here.

To me the biggest problem of people of African origin is not racism. Infact if you called a child who knows colours very well and ask that child to mention the skin colours of that panel there will be brown, pink and barge. Back to my point, people of African origin have failed to be honest with themselves thats the biggest problem. The biggest problem to solve is the family problem. African men and women majority have failed to raise up responsible children because half of the time they are absent from home. Don't tell me they are absent because they have to look for money to feed children. Let us tell our children to stay away from gangs, be at home latest by 6 pm, start recording high grades at school meaning they will be spending much time with books, wait to have sex until they are legally married, start opening businesses and build corporations like Indians and Chinese do. Then this racism issue will just disappear on its own. As long as people of African origin continue to possess the mentality that other races owe them a good life, the problem of racism won't end. I live in Africa and am an African but I see my brothers and sisters North America or Europe majority live very careless lives. Yesterday I was listening to BBC news a chief police officer of African Origin saying on average there were about 65,000 murders within the African Americans community annually. Where is racism in all this. Can't we be ashamed of ourselves. When last did you hear of such statistics in Asian communities in America or Europe. I agreed with Prime Minister about systematic racism but in my view thats not a priority for the African communities. Number 1 is raise responsible children and not weapon fleaks. Number 2 raise responsible children. Number 3 raise a responsible family then we can sincerely address this racism issue because if there are no trouble makers from our homes but only graduates, business owners, responsible youths who do not abuse substances then if we are treated unfairly it can be vividly seen that someone is discriminating against our race.

I think some people forget that a Muslim is not a race but a religion. That religion comes with its own Bible that has horrific things in it. Christians get scorned all the time and nobody says anything. A Muslim gets the same treatment and everybody feels bad for them. It doesn’t make sense to me either. Maybe those who do not understand Muslims should pick up their Bible to get an idea of what they represent.

Come to Vancouver and you can partake in racism against white people. The only part of this that struck me as really wrong was that people are still saying the n word. That is not ok

This is for everyone who says why don't you speak English when there in English speaking country well to you Canadian and other people why dont you learn other people's languages when you go on vacation hmm....? Stop expecting the world to conform to your will. I was in Madrid Spain and this Canadian couple didn't even bother learning Spanish when they spoke to us and ask for help. They expect us to conform to them when they are on vacation in a non english speaking country you can't have it both ways that double standard right there.

If you work as a security guard and let's say 70% of the people who steal are of a certain race, then it's only normal that you inherently start to stereotype that certain race and pay more attention to them in the store
