You forgot 1 major point-\nAt least here in Canada, we don't have to live in fear of gun violence. We don't send our children only for them to be massacred in their schools. At least our politics doesn't revolve around Jesus, guns and abortion (though our politicians are also crap). At least we don't have to break bad to pay for even simple medical procedures. At least our cities aren't overrun by homeless while our rural areas are not overrun by hillybillies. \n\nWhile yes in general Americans are richer, the fact is that only the top 10 percent live better. Not the homeless piling up in the cities, not the 3rd world shanties in the Appalachians and south and certainly not the thousands living in the American jail system. It's crazy how bad a country can be despite being rich.\n\nI was born and raised in the US. I have lived in Canada and much poorer countries like Spain and Portugal. Let me tell you, Americans live the worst life out of all. In much poorer Spain, people still have universal education till university, good healthcare, good public transportation system and they don't have to eat the frozen crap most Americans eat. Spanish people eat fresh meat, fruits, cheese and vegetables and drink some of the best wine, despite earning much less than Americans and working astonishingly low hours. Moreover, their cities are livable, not like the concrete jungle of Texas. \n\nYes America is rich but DUDE, Its seriously third world, if you arent rich and successful.

Immigration levels are causing the housing market boom. Colleges are paying the government of the day to keep immigration laws lenient as this would encourage more international students. The result- the quality of people coming in this country has dramatically declined. The healthcare has been hit badly as the wait times can be months. Everyone wants to come to Ontario causing unemployment as immigrants work for less pay and ordinary Canadian can’t afford to work for that less. People keep on buying houses and renting it out and millennial can’t buy houses anymore. I don’t know how will canada feed all of us when AI takes our jobs. \nThe past 5-8 years of Trudeau has ruined my Canada.

I live in rural Newfoundland. At 23 years old i was able to buy a house for 239k with a 12k down payment. I was only able to do this by saving my money since I started working at 17, although when i started working and saving i never thought that money would go to buying a house. Anyways my point is I was only able to afford this home because i lived with my parents until i bought a house and they were kind enough not to charge me rent, all i had to do was pay for groceries and help out around the house. However paying over 200k for a house in a small community that only has a hardware store grocery store and a gas station with the nearest town that has anything more than that being a 45 minute drive away via highway is insane. I am by far the exception in this generation rather than the rule, and I wish our housing market was better so that people could afford to buy homes without having to luck into such favorable conditions like I did

Hi, \nafter hearing this “exposé” I understand that it is the same in any developed country. There is no point of moving from one country to another when tax paying is not thought of. Remember labour is the one that builds and develops a country. One has to strategise before relocating, unless for most immigrants that manage to do it surprisingly as from many applications they did, one just went through and it is a success to go. Then, they just move to really win that opportunity although they haven’t strategise or prepare themselves financially. I learnt that in life, we pay as we live; nothing is for free.

As a Canadian that works closely with the government, the other issues that the tax rate in Canada is very high. Even you get a good paying job or a profitable business, a significant portion of your paycheck/profits goes to the government. There is also a lot of bureaucratic and legislative hurdles to overcome and too little incentives when trying to start or develop a business. For example, to build a high density residential building, it takes around 1 - 2 years of planning and studies, then another year to get all the permits and government paperwork, then 2 years of construction. It takes around 5 years to build a new residential building. Canada's housing affordability problem is not just simply cause by people willing to buy property, it is also cause by a significant shortage of housing supply due to all these regulations and hurdles. If you can't find affordable housing and your income is also heavily tax, a lot Canadians will go south to the US where things are a lot more affordable.

Immigration boom is our new slave class here to service our mortgages on our inventiment properties. As well filling our labour jobs that pay minimum wage that no one wants to work. I'm canadian and yeah, while the healthcare can be tricky sometimes, in cas of a emergency, it's not that tricky. I had to go to the ER 2 times in 3 month because of a pneumothorax, arrived there, pass in 15 min approximatly both time and was in charge, spent 1 week each time there and the second time even had to have a part of my lung removed. Had no real tricky manipulation to do or anyhing. I was just happy it cost me absolutely nothing and I think it's definetly a reason why the lifespan is higher since in case of an emergency, if I was in the US and had to pay, I would have actually died, since I don't have the money for it, I'm a student so... (that also helps, my session cost me around 200 bucks... yeah, 200, I'm in college). Healthcare should really be something free everywhere, you never know when a shit can happen and... you can't really prepare your bank account for it...\n\nSorry for the bad english, I'm a native french speaker (yes, I'm from Québec)

Having recently completed my income tax forms, I find it difficult to understand why anyone would want to acquire wealth in this country only to have so much of it taken away by all levels of government. I was born & raised in Canada. I love my Country and the people but I have no regrets moving abroad. I was making $200K/Year in Canada and I could not get ahead … wtf? Taxes and cost of living cost me my pay cheques. I moved abroad so that I could guarantee my retirement which I accomplished. Had I stayed in Canada I would never be able to afford retirement. I pay 11.5% of my income directly to pensioners as a contract worker making less than 50K in 2023. At total tax rate of 26% all inclusive. I have to live at home, and I can't find a single job that isn't contract work, and I'm a designer who's worked with F500 companies. The best Canadian rate hourly is 30$, my American contracts have paid 135$ an hour. It's such a bad deal to be a Canadian millennial. Canada has two classes. The ruling pensioner elder class which makes up 60% of the country and everyone else that they've impoverished. Canada has poor pay, worsening living standards, extremely high white collar competition, few job prospects and a disintegrating social fabric. But somehow I think this is the story of the entire commonwealth right now. So that makes us no different, and I don't really believe the grass is greener among the G7 either.

Canada’s biggest problem is it’s socialistic policies of the Liberal governments. Don’t confuse things: social programs like education and healthcare are not an exclusive marker of socialism. The balance of government interference in the economy IS. Nobody in their right mind would start a business in Canada today. \n\nSecondly, running a business means buy and resell, manufacture and sell leaving a profit. But the business of running Canada is losing money. The formula of running the country doesn’t work. We go deeper into debt every year, now to the point where it’s impossible to grow out of debt. As we allow massive immigration to counteract an aging, non-productive population, because of that negative formula, we just keep going deeper and deeper into debt. But it seems that most Canadians want that because we keep voting in the ‘robbers’. It’s time for Canadians to understand that soon a death tax will come in where all your asset value in taxes will go to the government. But that’s coming and is the only way for the government to pay down its debt.

Canada is a super expensive country, I've been here for 30 years and still renting houses, unable to save for a downpayment to buy my own house, paying rent forever with my husband and not being able to afford to have kids either. This country is depressing, you go to college and then work and have nothing. Canada is not a happy country, people are broke, paying too many taxes and not getting the proper services, there is a shortage of family doctors in Canada. Also paying too much for rent and gas. The socialist government makes things harder year by year, they don't develop the economy to keep up with the times, the liberal government has a lot to do with the crappy economy here. They create policies to make everything extremely hard for Canadians to succeed. If you are thinking of coming to Canada, think twice, it's a trap, it will take you years to be able to afford anything, you will struggle most of your life.

Yeah, I've been talking to a Canadian over discord for almost 2 years now trying to learn more about the country and what he told me was shocking. Canadian make about 25% less and pay 33% more in taxes then American and somehow a house in the middle of goddamn nowhere cost as much as a house in Portland. If you live in NYC, SF, or LA yeah you can forget about buying a house but its not like in America housing is unaffordable everywhere like in Canada. In Texas, you can get a big beautiful house for 300k, the catch being that real estate taxes is really high and you still be paying that even after the mortgage been paid off. Florida is affordable but hurricanes, Cleveland is really cheap despite a good reputation, and a house in the rural areas is easily under 100k. Canada pretty much have no houses under 300k which is made worse by the fact that they make less, taxed more, investment is harder + more expensive, and it actually hard to establish credit because they don't have looser standard like in the US.

After watching this video if you think that what is going on in Canada is not crazy, then take note of the fact that Trudeau government is also making it even harder for gas and oil companies, mineral extraction and even farmers to basically do their job. While Norway, Arab countries and even US are ramping oil and gas production, in Canada Trudeau is concerned more about increasing carbon tax and the rainbow flags. Honestly I'm very disappointed in this country, it's becoming worse and worse here. Prices are through the roof, housing is insanely expensive, even car prices are higher than in USA. Many people have to maintain 2 or even 3 jobs just to survive. And if you are a recent graduate or an immigrant professional, good luck finding a good job. You probably will end up in a minimum wage job that barely allows you to rent a room in someone's basement, pay for your most expensive in the world cell phone plan, expensive cars.... and wait 6 months to go see a medical specialist. If you're thinking of immigrating to Canada, better consider Europe, USA or developed countries in Asia. I was lucky because I bought property back in 2016. Now it appreciated so much that I'll probably sell and move to a different country. Hard times are ahead for Canadians, Canada is gonna become Cuba #2 very soon

Damn, that’s crazy. When lawful people have to make appointments to the embassy pay for the appointments, wait in line foe interview, pay for the visa, and oftentimes don’t get it with no refund. Then try all over again with more fees, get interview again then maybe granted visa, book and pay for flight, then travel to US go through customs, searched, questioned, then allowed to enter. But these illegals just feel as if they are owed.

Let's do some basic life, right now unless your well educated and already had money from family, you need a job that pays at the very least 15 and hour and work a minimum of 60 hours a week to pay for a house and enough food to eat once or twice a day, don't say fast food, because when I was 12 you could get two burgers a drink and fries for like 3 something, now the same order is 10 to 12 that's down in Mississippi, notch that up the further north you go. Now on to housing, cheapest hotels or apartments that you can actually stay and sleep in without fear of disease from the bed, if your lucky 650 to 800, the average is 925. Houses! Rent to own, cheapest with ok credit, 900 to 1200 a month's for a double wide trailer or one bedroom one bathroom one person house

These ladies are learning about tax and spend liberalism. There is NEVER enough tax money. You take Quebec that has the highest taxes in North America. They also run the weed sales, the casinos, and all the alcohol sales, and they are still deep in debt. Whatever you are paying in taxes is never enough. It doesn't take much digging to figure out why. The government administration in every ministry is bloated with people who do very little to add value but get paid big salaries. They can't be fired no matter how bad the economy gets or how badly they perform their job. They are also guaranteed a generous retirement that private workers do not get.
