Iceland and Australia feel like home. Hungary, Vietnam, Finland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Austria are wonderful places to live for a couple of years. Beautiful countries that are falling out are Sweden, Argentina, Thailand, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Canada, the US, and France.

I feel bad for those who were duped into coming here to Canada. They had big dreams of becoming successful here, instead not being able to do that and being forced to live in cramped accommodations. I work in healthcare, and a lot of people who work in the facility in which I'm employed were brought here from the Philippines and India, mostly. Some were hired directly by this employer, while others came here some other way. Those with professions like being an RN were under the impression that it wouldn't take that long or be that difficult to get their Canadian certification to work as RNs here. Instead, they found out that the process for that here in Canada is a lot tougher and takes a lot longer than they'd been led to believe. So many are left not being able to use their education to its fullest, instead working as care aides until they can get the proper certification. I know that this has also happened with doctors and engineers and to many in other professions for which they went to school for years. It's a real shame.\n\nThis massive influx of people coming from other countries, though, has been really tough on those of us who were already living here. It's been way too many people, and we just weren't prepared. It's been one of the biggest factors in the huge increase of cost of living and, of course, it's by far the reason we have an enormous housing shortage.\n\nI'm not completely anti-immigration, but I think that it needs to be stopped, at least for a while. Let us deal with what's going on now instead of bringing in more people that would only help to make things worse, through no fault of their own. There's no reason that we need to have more people coming here right now. We have way more than enough people here right now.

My US work permit got approved yesterday! Ive lived in Canada for 29 years but it started going steeply downhill around 2018 and the 2 years of covid were rough. I miss it a lot but the costs and constant fear of getting my house and car broken into, as well as watching my tax dollars go down the drain has been tough. Also I feel like people are hustling so hard they’re not as happy. It makes me sad as well

My girlfriend and I are planning on moving to the States in the next 2 years. We are both able to get sponsered by American companies, and we do not have any intention on returning. We are both born and raised in Canada, but it feels like the people leading us are throwing their young to the wolves. We will both be in our early 30s by the time we leave, and this country will not see a dime of tax revenue from us during our prime earning years. The people running this country better wake up to the fact that if conditions don't change, there will be an exodus of its most productive members.

But its not great, and it hasn't been great in a long time, everything went down la toilette after 2001, and here we are, it should never be a difficult decision, most Canadians are brainwashed into thinking its a great place. Most Canadians are terrified to step out into the unknown, so like a caged bird, it prefers the caged life. If you ACTUALLY leave Canada, you'll feel the weight literally lift off. Me, its been 20 years and counting since I left, you can do it, if I can do it, anyone can.

Now Imagine How Native Canadians feel every time they see a European calling him/herself as a real Canadian. You don't see future in Canada, but you can return back to your home country. But for Native Canadians, they don't have present and they can't go anywhere else, bcz its their home land, home country. It's like someone comes to your house as a guest, then they force you to live in one corner while captures the rest of the house and now even give some rooms of your house on rent, and takes that rent, gives you no facility, nothing. Europeans were invaders who captured the room or the lands of Native Canadian people and forced them to live in most unlivable areas.

I don't feel like living in Canada anymore. It's like Northern India at this point

I left Canada finally after many many years of debating for myself. It’s the best thing I ever did. I have a really good job, that pays me more than three times my monthly overhead. After literally struggling in Canada for 30+ years as an adult trying to keep a job amongst colleagues that hate you for everything that I was and wasn’t, had and didn’t have. I’m very happy that I left and can go to work peacefully everyday, without needing to feel like I’m a piece of crap that doesn’t have the right to exist. I came to Canada at age 12 with my parents. And was always called names, always under minded, overlooked, put down, bullied and never had a single job that also contributed to my pension. When I left Canada, immigration Canada emailed me daily for three months telling me to come back to Canada IMMEDIATELY lol. Because my home country wasn’t safe enough to live in. I’m from Belgium. It’s much safer, friendlier, empathic and prosperous than Canada ever was

a lot of people are talking like this but ya know what\n\nWe still have amazing and free health care\nEverytime I go to the grocery store I can get everything under the sun\nWe have a good main highway , I know its not perfect but for the most part I can drive accross the entire 4000km country\nI have a decent paying job, and yes rents expensive ~ but with proper budgeting it is possible\nWe have ocean views on each side of our country, all the first world stores and options.\n\nI think there is a lot of room to improve, but globally countries are all facing inflation, corrupt poltics, drug abuse .. and yes a lot of our mandates are way out of whack\n\nBut I still feel living in Canada is a dream, but not in the big city - thatss for sure !\n\nCook for yourself at home, get ride of all those monthly payments for apps\nStop travelling so much, find an affordable and simple vehicle you can pay off\nWork hard, work as much as you can, dont shop or buy expensive things ..\n\nBuild a garden, show up to your job, find something that pays you for what you know..\n\nThe dream is still alive in some of us ! I think seeing what the rest of the world is going through will be a reminder that its not just isolated to our country.

We moved from Brampton 7 years ago we felt it was getting dangerous and over way over populated. We live in London now (which has its only big issues) But i feel Canada’s loosing our identity. \nI love culture but like some have said already this is just too much. \nMay your higher source bless you ?

Canada is so big. I think you could fined what you want just buy moving to a new location in Canada. \nVery much like the U.S.\nI have traveled millions of miles in my life time. You will find that is all the same for the most part. \nJust pick a location you like when dune traveling and make it yours. YES! it takes work.\n\nWhen I look back on my life. I moved to Australia from Canada over 20 years ago. After the draconian lockdowns and being forced out of my job by j mandates, I've wanted to get the hell out of this country. Since Labor won all state elections and the federal election, things have taken a serious downturn. It's a big clown show. The state government here in Victoria, home of Dictator Dan, has racked up such a colossal debt that there's just no way out of it. They're raising taxes and making up new ones as the go along into the abyss. There's nothing here but a big real estate bubble and when it pops, there will be tent cities all over the place. The government created the problem just like in Canada. They increased the population by 1.6% in ONE SINGLE YEAR with immigration and now there's not enough housing to meet demand. The lockdowns took all my savings and a chunk of my superannuation to just survive, and I was robbed of over a year of earnings by the government. I've been stuck in this massively over-priced hovel for 3 years longer than I had planned and now would be lucky to even be in the top 20 picks for a rental, at twice the price. It's only a matter of time before the job market implodes due to business closures and the all around terrible climate in which to start new business. I want out, but the prospect of returning to Canada is beyond depressing. Everything that drove me out of Canada in the first place is 10x worse now. My other alternative is UK but I don't feel like going to prison for liking memes about Keir Starmer on Facebook, so UK is out of the question. Not to mention that it's economically doomed and has a worse healthcare system than Canada. There are lines around city blocks to get into a GP clinic.

We left sweden for canada because if all rapes,shootings and gangs. Gangs decide when you are allowed to be outside, a guy got shot outside our door, another got shot very close and he was the wrong guy who just looked like someone else. One weekend we had 2 rape attemps on our Street and there was a gang shooting one station away from us at kids playgroynd when a kid got ahot by accident too. Its sick. \n\nOne year in canada we left because the schools were brainwashing our kids with nonsens gender stuff. Even our kids though it was super strange and did not feel good when teachers said you can be anything you want when you grow up (gender, not what you work with).

After reading a few of these comments, the main take aways are, there are a lot of immigrants, things cost more, healthcare is a mess and inflation.\nI am sorry that things are hard, the costs of everything are up everywhere in the world so good luck in gentrifying other nations and making your problems their problems.\nIt pains me to no ends that after things get tough in Canada many are ready to jump ship for better softer areas where they will trash the place with their incomes creating inequality there as well and then blaming the mess that they will create on the indigenous people that they will abandon for better pastures.\n\nAs a Canadian of native ancestry I never had it anywhere as good as many of the people here complaining about their middle class woes.\n\nMaybe if you fought for a change, like more housing to bring down the prices and fought corporate greedflation and gouging, realizing that much of this problem, the attack on the healthcare services, much of it being done by the conservative governments, then perhaps you would not be so annoyed with Trudeau.\n\nHe is not helping the housing problem by not building the 2 million new homes that he said he would but NIMBY people are making this difficult. They want the charm of a nice middle class feel to their neighborhoods but when it comes to housing, they don't want to build affordable near them and then they complain with their rents are too expensive or the costs of things too high. \n\nI can't say I feel much pity or empathy with most of the people complaining about their lots in life because as far as I can tell, many natives would love to have your problems but the best that many of them can do is to live in their own lands, homeless, even on their own reserves because there is just not enough housing. Yet when the prices of housing was going up, many homeowners loved it, even though it meant that the poor, the actual poor and not you lot, were stacked like firewood into smaller and smaller rooms with no AC so it was hot in the summer and freezing in the winter and the slum lords are having a hey day. \nThe actual first nations people are homeless and being killed daily and are arrested for being poor daily but you lot think you have it bad. \n\nSorry, when non first nations people say that they will leave Canada because its not how they remember it when they were kids and its worse now so they will jump ship to gentrify other nations, I just shake my head and hold open the door as you leave the nation and wonder at your arrogance and egoism.

We white people feel like a minority in our own country and they make fun and mock how stupid we are for letting so many in. In many places right now they are asking at interviews and job ads they ask if you speak punjabi or indian and that should be illegal in Canada because we only have 2 languages English and french

Leaving may solve your problems but only for very short time, because whatever place you end up in, it may be no better, and good deal worse, since you won't be a citizen there. Remember too, that Europe and US are all afflicted with the same WOKE, antidemocratic malady destroying Canada. The only sure way to improve situation is by staying, standing up and fighting (legally, and non violently if possible) for what you believe. I am asian guy. It's been 32 years in Canada and I never had a girlfriend in Canada ?. Now I gave up meeting someone in Canada. Feeling lonely though at times, but I think Canada is still a good country to live. Definitely more opportunities here than places like Argentina, South Korea, etc. I go to Walmart to save money on groceries. Problem is I do feel lonely here, so in the future maybe I will try South East Asia to meet a girlfriend when I am older ?

I can understand you so much. Though I live in Quebec and don't feel that economic pressure so much as someone living in Toronto or Vancouver, I plan to go back to Vietnam or at least in Asia. For me a Québécois, we missed the boat in 1995. Too bad if you don’t like it but we got screwed by newly arrived immigrants back then and we are being drowned by immigrants now. The difference is that you too in the ROC are being drowned. I am a Quebec nationalist, it’s in my guts. My family has roots going back to New France. Canada has always been an imposition for us just as we to the First Nations I guess. That’s unfortunately neither here nor there at this point in history and I apologize for it. I could blame the Trudeau government but any government in Canada would do the same for neoliberal/conservative ideological reasons. We have a neoconservative government right now in Quebec. They have practically killed our nation from the inside in order to discredit the social democratic and socialist tendencies that did so much to develop this nation. These are the ones who would literally step on their grandmothers neck to attain higher status in life. Since for me this place is where I feel the most a part of and have understood long ago that the ROC had done everything to negate us as a people a nation and the dream of an independent country with close ties to the ROC is and probably never was in the cards, I have started hoping for some kind of political union with mother France since it has become painfully clear that Canada as a strong bicultural self respecting truly independent country is a bygone notion. Just look at our military, it’s a monumental farce. Look at the insane levels of immigration, we cannot support this!! PERIOD!!! Look at way we genuflect to the US’s economic visions without questioning anymore. The Quebec people are a nation, Canada unfortunately is only a notion. I'm very curious where you're moving to! I was living in the UK for a few years, and then Ireland. I moved back home to Canada two years ago. I'm glad I came home, life is getting very difficult there too, and I get to spend more time with my family. I'm actually doing better financially now in Nova Scotia. I feel like it all depends on your personal circumstances. The grass isn't always greener. I wish you all the best abroad! ?

The power of our canadian passport is regressing. During COVID I had to use my Mexican passport to enter Korea as they weren't letting Canadians in due to a small political spat, I get e-visa when entering Egypt which Canadians don't get and about 6 months ago I had to apply for an Indian visa using my Mexican passport again because India blocked Canadians from applying. This was understandable as Canada had a diplomatic spat with India but it was NOT understandable that we didn't block off Indian visa applications at the same time. We are essentially letting others walk all over us. also the embassy services for Canadians are absolutely god damn terrible and feels like I have to beg them to actually do their damn job.

Then let me tell you about Ukraine my Ukrainian lady, I lived back home for 30 years and moved to Canada for 28 years I live in Ukraine on and off for 9 years I have more friends in Ukraine than back home and Canada together with the most beautiful warm good hearted people I ever known maybe when the war is finished you can try your luck in Ukraine what a beautiful country don't believe me? ask your parents if they don't like something they will tell you on your face I feel like a king there they all love me respect me if I need help they will help with no questions, good luck to you my Ukrainian lady ?

I live in Canada over 30 years, and I never accepted this country as my home, Canada wasn't my choice. I wanted stay in Europe in Germany, country that was stolen from Germans, I am from Europe and there is my home we wore sent far away to another continent from our own, far from families and tradition, culture, religion, Europeans people wore replaced with different ethnic group of people from different continents with different values, religions, cultures and traditions. They have nothing in common with Europe, they even do not look like European people, Canada is a country without face, without culture, without religion, and what is the worse without any value of morality, to the people living in Canada dollar is their value, dollar is their God, beside Canada was always overrated, Canada is empty of beautiful things like monuments, statues, sculptures, beautiful buildings, bridges, parks, cathedrals, churches only emptiness a sad feeling of having no emotion or purpose only work and work days and nights, take mortgage, take loan, pay back and take another loan so you must be all your life in debt, there is nothing for you soul, and finally if you surrounded with ugliness you became animals, Canada is a perfect place for those kind of people that they do not care for beautiful things, and they keep dying like an animals.

It was interesting hearing Alina's comments and reading the comments, because I recently visited with a Canadian family at a neighborhood function who moved here from the Toronto area, and they feel more at home here (Bentonville, Arkansas, home of Walmart) than they did in their actual home in Canada. They essentially said that Canada was awesome growing up but has changed so much that they felt they had to leave. I know we are seeing some of the same changes in parts of the US, particularly the areas that mirror Canada politically, but hopefully we will avoid those changes here. We cannot take all 30+ million Canadians, but based on my interactions with this family, if most other Canadians are like them, they would be more than welcome here.

I feel the same way about Montreal, a city I used to call home. And i ust want OUT. Mind you I'm a Caribbean immigrant that HATES what the city looks like now. It is no longer Canadian. It feels everywhere else but the Canada I used to love so dearly as a child and a teenager. Sad. just sad.

So a few things about this issue (in my opinion) \n\nMost of the nuisance you see ppl doing - we collectively dislike it (we being Canadians who have roots in India) \n\nSkin colour brown white or anything doesn’t matter to most. I think ppl who talk skin colour needs wisdom /education and it’s laughable who keep bringing words like brown black white for ppl.\n\n\nSecond students are majority of the demographics who create the non sensical acts \nMajority of them are teens or early 20’s \n\nNot the PR / citizens / ppl with work permits as we all r busy working and making this country better collectively \n\n\nBeing from India - we feel the world (not just canada India but the planet is like 1 big family and we all got to care for it while perusing individual dreams as well)

Canada's not the same as current PM has ruined it. Chaos will get worse before it gets better with a new leader to fix it. Immigrant's always entered through Sask because it was the easiest to get citizenship. When term was over they went West or East. There are 2 types of immigrant's today, those who want a chance for better life and adapt and those who want to destroys our values (which's' what what we're seeing today). Being born and raised in Sask doesn't feel like home anymore into today's world. East and West looks worse. I'd be happier living abroad!! The Canada I grew up in vs Canada today feel like two different countries. I literally feel like a foreigner in the country I was born in.

The fact is that this is Canada and it has or at least had it's own culture, language and identity. I want to continue to feel like I am living in Canada and not in India, if I wanted to feel like being in India, I would move there.

Canada needs to control this issue. I'm from Japan and moved to Canada, even I feel like they must control it.

This should not be right because why are we not OK? I understand different parts of the world has things I’m born Canadian as far as my family and millennia and Canada were third generation here in Canada with Caribbean European and American descent all that being said I don’t care how people comes to Canada ?? but we should get the best of the best and I feel like Since they have a job since I work with the airline, why can’t they just apply for a transfer? Why can’t they why everybody else has to have a passport to travel? Why can’t they? Why can’t they have a passport? Why should they be or have a passport stuff like that I’m just saying, why would they abandon your job and you can transfer your job or get you know I don’t know I’m just to me. I don’t think it’s right I don’t think it’s right because, is there enough job for people who already live here housing stuff all these kind of things people do not think about

Just my 2 cents here. I know its anecdotal, but i feel like its probably the norm.\n\nI lived in Canada my whole life, i visited the states and lived there for a few months for a job.\n\nThe amount of violence, gun or otherwise, is night and day. In the U.S. you could have a gun pulled on you in a grocery strore, on the highway, in the park, at the bar...\n\nIn canada, you could walk an entire city, late at night, completely alone, and the odds of someone hurting you in anyway at all is like single digit %. In the U.S, you arent making it 2 blocks without trouble.\n\nIt is mind boggling how dangerous it feels to just be in the states then it does in Canada. Until you have experienced both, you just cant understand how wildly different just this 1 aspect is.

The countries of European nations are being flooded with foreigners, overrunning these nations. Places like England, Germany, France, Netherlands, etc are ethnic wellsprings. Just like Japan, Korea, Vietnam, India, etc, etc. Flooding these wellsprings with other ethnic groups dissolves the ethnic groups (the nations) of those countries. England should be for the English, Japan for the Japanese, Germany for the Germans, etc. If the ruling regime actually cared about respecting different ethnicities/cultures and their existence, if they cared about actual diversity, they'd be opposed to immigration. But instead they are destroying European nations - and places like Japan and South Korea are also in the early stages of this. It's evil. \nAnd as for why Canadians are getting upset is because the ethnic compositions of Canada are changing so fast. So fast. It is becoming like a different country. Why are they doing this to us? It would feel more comfortable if the homelands of European nations were not under this same existential threat, but they are. It's alarming. This is horrific.

Please, blame the govt. I don’t think citizens or immigrants are to blame. Finding stable work in Canada is a challenge these days even for permanent residents/new citizens. No guarantee of work even after acing an interview and building skills as needed. At this point I feel like immigrants are just tax paying scapegoats, who are used by the government and hated by local people. This is not real inclusiveness. Govt must give priority to their citizens and encourage immigration if there are real opportunities to offer. Everyone needs work and stability inorder to live a civilized and stable life. Calling loads and loads here to benefit the economy and politicians just be called third world trash isn’t fair.

It's not really the fault of immigrants or foreigners that you feel insecure both socially and economically. It's the fault of the system that allowed them to enter the country in the first place. They're just trying to survive like the rest of us in Canada.\n\nBut we cannot deny the fact that more immigrants or foreigners means more demand for housing, rent, food, and other necessities, leading to higher prices. The only people who benefit from this system are the rich, not the working class.\n\nIf you're not rich, can you live with ever-increasing inflation caused by demand pressures and supply interruptions due to population increase and unexpected natural and man-made disasters? Your answer to this question will determine your real position on whether or not immigration is perfect for Canada.

Canada, like Australia and etc., faces a fundamental issue that makes it reliant on—or even more severely, dependent on—immigration. Of course discussing this fundamental issue is inappropriate for Canadians. The housing crisis is not caused by immigrants. While you can criticize immigration policies, they are merely the straw that broke the camel's back. It's similar to inflation; like, even if it remains at 2% per year, we will still experience the peaks and troughs of business cycles, just less intensely. Sure you can have a public housing program, where does that money come from? More and more tax money. Having to work harder to only end up with paying more taxes for those who either did not have the opporunities or didn't work as hard (who cares what the actual reasons are), just feels like a ripoff.

Most people in Canada do like immigrants and try and want to accept newcomers . I am happy to see new faces younger people, people with a different outlook. However this lack of housing is a major problem for poor and lower middle class people - citizens and noncitizens. Unfortunately rents are a racket in most cities, the real estate business is full of unnumbered accounts and money laundering; Canada is full of organized crime from all over the world, we cant control foreign attempts at killing our citizen. So we can tell our government is not efficient and is doing a poor jobHowever I dont think the average immigrant is the problem and I feel they are treated like rubes by our government and taken advantage of and so are Canadians of different ethnic backgrounds who also suffer the same problems of many immigrants. That's the truth. Letting people in with out providing opportunities for jobs, housing, support is foolish and destructive to our country. Our politicians are selling us down the drain-i.e. all those who are not in the upper middle class or the elites. POWER TO THE PEOPLE!!!! VOTE FOR CHANGE !

35 years ago, obtaining a Canadian visa required substantial financial resources, which applicants had to bring to invest in Canada, along with undergoing a thorough background and health check. It wasn't easy to become a Canadian citizen, so only a select few managed to achieve it.  Today, it feels like the standards have dropped significantly—allowing entry without financial requirements or rigorous screenings. This shift has led to increased crime rates, littering, and even the deterioration of our once-pristine beaches. It's disheartening to see Canada moving in this direction, allowing individuals who may not contribute positively to the country. They primarily come for the free healthcare and other benefits.

I have been travelling to Canada..its feel like I am in India particular north india..its smell so bad..even on airport i see all indian working there..i hardly see any native canadian?????..

Its kind of ironic how i feel like i am a refugee and need to leave canada because\nrefugees took my home

It is a very important thing to note that despite Canada being the second largest country in the world by landmass, the vast majority of the population lives 100km from the American border because the vast majority of the land has no infrastructure to have large scale habitation. Outside of the prairies and the st Lawrence valley, there is precious little farmland to sustain people. So we import a huge percentage of our food which can also attribute to rising costs (not the only factor but it doesn’t help). Geographically, this country can’t comfortably hold more than 36 million people. Our population really shouldn’t grow beyond that unless we have infrastructure to house and feed people, which we barely do for the people that live here let alone the folks coming in. I feel like people want to make it a race issue, but that’s misguided. Canada is not America. We can’t fill our country top to bottom with people it’s logistically too difficult. We literally don’t have the resources to grow beyond that roughly 36 million cap

I have a brazilian friend who went to Canada to work and ended up marrying an indian man. Never been there, but it feels like it's full of indians lol.
