I am Cuban. I came to the US legally in 1967. My parents left their families and everything behind in order to give my sisters and me a better life in the freedom and democracy of the US. We flew out of Cuba the day after my 7th birthday. I was young but old enough to see the look on my mother’s face and my grandmother’s face to realize that they new they were never going to see each other again.
