As a Canadian citizen (born and raised) those migrants from New York should move overseas (AKA our nextdoor overseas neighbour UK/EU). Yeah Canada has free health care. But when you reach 25+ you have to pay your own.. unless you have insurance. Also in the province where I live tax percentage here is DANG 13%. It's DANG expensive because Canadian dollar is not as strong as the big 4 (USD/UK Pounds/Europe Euros/Japan Yen). The only province that pays little-to-none taxes is the province of Alberta Canada.\n\nAll-in-all I advise migrants that live in US: DO NOT live in Canada because Canada is a sh*t country. And you'll be screwed by both the Trudeau and Doug Ford Government.

Canada is not worth coming to if you own a home in your current country and are generally happy, have a decent job and family, don't come here because it will not be easy or better than what you have. You will have to start from nothing, working the worst jobs cleaning hotels and toilets or working minimum wage in a retail store, even if you are a professional in your home country. There is nothing better here, nothing is free unless you come as a refugee. This country is the anti-dream of America. The taxes are very hi, the rent is unaffordable, to buy a house you have to make $200,000k a year, so basically you will be screwed. There is no way to save for retirement in Canada, so don't think life will get easier. In Canada you will get stuck working well beyond your retirement years like into your 70's you will work here until you drop dead. My parents are 70 and still work because they are still paying off their mortgage, while they get retirement $1,300 per month which is the standard is a joke since it doesn't cover the basics, you need $6,000 at least to survive for a month, to buy food, gas for your car, carinsurance, phone bill, utilities, anything else, just the basics. What the government gives you is completely unrealistic to the times, considering the amount of money people pay in taxes you don't get enough during your retirement years, the government has no use for you so they dont care about you when you get old.

And the hard working tax payers continue getting screwed for their efforts rather than compensated. Canada is almost venezuela without the nice weather.....all thanks to liberalism and socialism.

I think you ladies are way out in left field and you really don't know what you're talkin about. Unfortunately for some people it doesn't work out for whatever reason usually because they do not want to assimilate very well. I grew up in Ontario to a french-canadian father and an Italian mother in my life in Canada was so perfect said if I had to dream up a better life I could not have done so. I grew up playing all the sports and enjoyed all the different sports and the changes of seasons. My parents had a summer home on the st-lawrence river and every summer we water-ski swam fished, play golf in the morning and barbecues every night right on the water. Even though my grandfather was in the hotel business I was all about sports and enjoying everything about it. I grew up in a town of about 50 thousand about 40 miles from Montreal. When I wanted some great nightlife just drove a short drive to Montreal and it had everything did anyone could want in Nightlife. I have lived in United States for forty years and I can tell you that it really isn't all that it's cracked up to be. Heaven forbid should you get some kind of catastrophic illness you are screwed. I knew a woman who work for travelers insurance for 30 years at the best insurance a money could buy had suffered a couple of strokes and was on the verge of going broke had she not died when she died. People think that insurance continues to pay his long as you're ill and nothing could be further from the truth. This lady was going to have to sell her house to continue paying for round-the-clock care had she not died when she did. United States middle class is getting wiped out. I've seen enough poverty and hardship in this country to last a lifetime. I find greed to be running rampant in this country. When I grew up in Canada there was always the grass is greener on the other side and when I did move over to the other side the US that is I can tell you unequivocally the dead grass is not greener on the other side. There are more millions and millions of people here that are one or two paychecks away from being homeless. And we're talkin 2023. Now let's talk about violence. There is a mass murder in the United States every single day of the year. And a mass murder is defined by four or more people being killed by one person at one time. Killing these so out of control in the United States that now even six-year-olds are shooting their teacher. I find a tremendous amount of built-up Anger from people. Food is very expensive and shelter is also out of control and non affordable to most people. Again I find United States being able to paint a much Rosier picture then does really exist. And there are more con artists and thieves , Crooks, con-artists, bamboozlers, cheats and scammers then anywhere that I've ever been. And I will say this is it it ain't getting any better and I don't see it ever getting better. I find it is everybody out for themselves no matter who they cheat. I live in Southern California and I can tell you that night life where I live is non-existent. Understand that LA and Hollywood they always have to glamorize everything to sell it to tourists. Just remember that things today are not what they were 40 years ago. Middle-class people in Canada would also be just middle-class people in the US. But if your life means anything to you as far as safety and raising a family then Canada wins hands down end of discussion. People that say Canada is boring is because they are boring. That's what I found to be pretty standard across the board. Life is what you make of it. But I will say that you gals definitely need to move away if you don't like Canada. Do not let the door hit your ass on the way out. And just for your information Canada ranks annually as one of the top countries in the world to immigrate to. Canada is the second largest country in the world by land area and next to Saudi Arabia has the third largest oil Reserves in the world. Canada has huge amount of freshwater which most of the rest of the world seems to be lacking and having spent my Summers on the Saint Lawrence River one of the Great Rivers in this world. I wouldn't change my twenty years in Canada for anyplace else in this world and I will be moving back shortly.

Having grown up in Manitoba, with it's 6 months of brutal winter and two weeks of summer and mosquitos bigger than sparrows, I moved to Canada's Hot Spot, the South Okanagan valley. We have one cold month ( that isn't very cold ) a few temperate months, and about 6+ months of Glorious Summer. The scenery is world class beautiful, everywhere you look is a picture postcard pretty setting, but I really came here for the climate. Screw being cold.

Bureaucracy, col weather, socialism in Canada will turn Canada to like a Latin American country. I left it to USA for education and with an MBA I couldn’t get a reasonable job in Canada, so I worked in USA and recently I thought to go to Ukraine or Moldova and find a sweetheart , buy a farm and stay there. But suddenly covid19 and Putin screwed up my plan. But I’m not giving up. Malaysia or Portugal should be cheaper and warmer. Oooh Canada, jus come for a visit. It turns to become a dumpster of refugees not for a bright future. ?

Anyone in Quebec would likely agree that they are the best province. However I have yet to meet anyone from outside of Quebec who would agree. Quebec seems to get the most government handouts and assistance including by means of taxing other provinces to pay for Quebec's needs. BC is going down hill as the real estate industry divides the rich and poor to a breaking point. Sask suffers from this issue too as entry level jobs are brutal, underpaid and cost of living rises insanely. Canada is screwed in a lot of ways...

The problem is that North America is cold. Unless you live in Southern California or Florida you’re pretty much screwed. I live in Canada and from mid-October to about the end of March you’re pretty much indoors all the time. It’s too cold to go out. In some countries like India it’s too hot to go out. Los Angeles has a nice comfortable climate.

Unless you are in the trades, you will\nHave a very hard time getting a job in Canada even if you are here. \nI completely disagree with the non merit based crony system here, its very discriminatory and useless. The people who know the right people will get the job everyone else is screwed. Jobs suck here anyway, being and entrepreneur is better if you hustle

In short....screw Canada

Canada is a land with great resources, great opportunity and potential, but for a place with so much supposedly smart people they do alot of dumb things. Been here 7 years now and I have seen so many issues that have obvious solutions but because of some weird culture or heritage or whatever they just keep doing the same thing until it hurts them. The real estate market is an absolute MESS and everybody knows. Money laundering, realtors colluding to set prices, blind auctions etc you name it. But they are just gonna keep doing the same thing until the country is in a major recession. Then everybody is going to be crying for bailouts. The health system is a MESS. Trying to find a doctor is like finding a needle in a haystack. They have them driving taxis instead, claiming that their qualifications arent as good. Yet they dont have enough doctors or nurses to support anything. Coworkers whose spouses work in those industries let me know they have to be working ridiculous shifts because there are not enough people. The taxes are ridiculous. I work in I.T. and taxes are like roughly half my salary. Many coworkers have told me all the illegal stuff they do to get around the taxes. Which I don't do because I wasn't raised like that. But people get taxed so much everyone is doing some thing to try to bypass it. And if you dont know the tricks or dont want to do them, you just get screwed. People don't talk about real issues here. There is alot of fake positivity and optimism because they dont want people to get sad and suicidal from the really long and harsh winter. I used to wonder why there were so many train delays until some one explained to me that many people commit suicides in winter by stepping in front of the trains. The only thing propping up this country is the constant influx of immigrant slave labour through the college system, (Like a ponzi scheme). But the immigrants are going to stop coming here if they cant even afford to live at all. Even the regular citizens cant afford it. So what will the country do after that, since there is an elderly population and not enough people to support the industries? Right now most of the immigrants come here and save up there money to go somewhere else or back home after they realize what a shitshow it is. I even have coworkers born and raised in Canada who are telling me they want to leave. Canada needs to stop patting itself on the back for doing stupid apologies and stuff like that, and actually do economically sound things to stop digging themselves into this hole. Great potential for this country but I don't know if it will ever be realized.

Many leave their own country, and come to Canada BECAUSE of their dislikes; extremism, culture, religion, laws, identity and in some cases backwards thinking; attempt to turn what we in society would consider as sexist, and discriminatory in some examples….\n\n…however when those same individuals finally achieve citizenship, or in some cases this starts (attempt to change Canadian law(s)) before obtaining citizenship, making moves to force the above, everything they despised, hated or disliked about their own country, into this new country ? Its like, the expectation is that we assimilate to them, not that they assimilate to their new chosen country??\n\nIt appears in some cases, going as far as attempting to rationalize why the the very thing they left their own country for, should now be a part of or have a place in Canadian society….where in any place in the World does this happen? Would it happen? Can you imagine, if I were a guest in someone else’s home, being invited over for dinner, but they had rules…like taking off your shoes when entering their home…or demanded they change their menu that they worked hard making for me to eat..or that I do not put my feet up in the coffee table or furniture…but I said, screw that, I don’t agree with their rules..I’m just going to do what I want! What would be the outcome do you think if I were to disrespect their rules?\n\nWhen Canadians have the audacity to say NO, we’re not interested in adopting …the rules/laws of the country they just abandoned…we’re now somehow insulted, or angered the guest? …the same Canada that has welcomed, provided safety, roof over their heads, food on the table, an education for their children, and provided access to our medical (albeit far from perfect) infrastructure.\n\nTo stomp their feet, bang their fist on the table when discovered that it’s expected to take four years of your life to become a doctor (which btw if you’re smart enough to become a doctor, you should be smart enough to of researched the expectations, PRIOR to coming to Canada) in the Country that YOU have chosen to spend the rest of their lives in, to have to work in a job to help support you and your families transitions,…imho, is NOT an unreasonable ask….that 4-5 years of their next 40-50+ ? Well, if that is considered a hardship, then maybe they need to rethink their intent. Maybe, the grass WAS greener in their former Country?!! \n\nI think to expect or demand to just step into or handed on a silver platter all the goodies without having to except to take the not so good…is imho ignorant, arrogant and selfish.\n\nEven with our flaws, Canada is one of the best places to live on the planet. The careers in Canada are mostly limited to the financial and services sector. So if you're good with numbers, you're golden. If you're not, like me, you're screwed! I can't do accounting, business analysis, and statistics programming, so there are no jobs for me here.

Canada does have stricter immigration laws than the States. I’m all fine with Canada accepting immigrants as long as they do it the legal way and go through the due process that the government has put in place. Speaking as a white man I have to admit I don't quite understand the need for anyone to organize as a race in Canada. First generation clubs from whatever country, sure, but as a race? Is it the elephant in the room... American slavery?  I can't help but think that most perceived problems blacks have in Canada are due to American issues we see in movies and media.\nWe in Canada bend over backwards to offer opportunity to succeed. Even touching on racism is widely and loudly crushed.
