Those of us who did not vote for Trump do not want this either. My last two out of three vacations were spent in Canada. I hate to see our friends treated this way. Don't think we all agree with the way Trump is governing.

I think Trudeau touched on what the actual plan is. It sounds like the whole plan was to weaken the Canadian economy to allow American billionaires to buy up Canada through the stock market They want to claim ownership of Canada's resources the same they have done to us.

From the USA: Why is it right for Canada to tariff us more than we tariff them? Trump pointed out that there was a 200 billion a year tariff deficit for the USA. Some say that number is inflated and the real number is somewhere around the 70 billion mark in Canada's favor. No one disagrees that the US has a huge tariff deficit with Canada. So, the USA is just leveling the playing field. It's time to truly have level trade with the rest of the world, not just Canada. No more free lunch from the US to the world. We want free and fair trade, but for that to happen we must tariff other countries goods at exactly the same level they tariff our goods.

Trudeau‘s response doesn’t look anything like somebody that wants to work with us. He just turned a tariff that was aimed at creating some equality behind our trades into a trade war not Trump we will own Canada soon enough now because of Trudeau’s terrible response

WE will NOT help any of you who caused this & this includes every MSM who is too afraid to speak truth to power. Start doing that NOW. I really want to be a part of Canada. They have the most educated culture and the largest middle class in the world right now. And I respect them as a people. Damn in America, what the hell is wrong with us? Our people are so ignorant that we think that the Richard just took over who very clearly have been doing as harm for 50 years are going to solve our problems by alienating us from the world and costing us more money? And firing us in mass? doesn’t anybody read history? This is not new. This is a classic playbook. It sucks for the general population. Most of us are the general population. Great, unambiguous words by the Canadian president! But one of his remarks stood out: he said that the tyrants want to divide us. He is correct, of course. But the implications are profound! This means that Trudeau himself is measuring his words and deliberately using diplomatic language. He even says that Trump is “intelligent”, which only plays into the imbecile’s unfortunate NPD psychology! The unwillingness to stand strong against American tyranny is harming democracy worldwide! Force Trump to declare a side! And make him choose Putin or democracy NOW!! If you fail to do that, you are taking the path of accommodation, and if Trump is really a tyrant (which he surely is, because of MANY evidences!!), democratic countries weaken their position by not standing strong NOW. If Europe and Canada and Mexico ban Tesla imports and place 50% tariffs on tens of billions of dollars of American products, what would happen? Are these countries AFRAID of the United States? This is not the time for fear! This is the time for courage! Boycott!!!

I personally think Trump is after Canada to become part of the US. So, he's making stuff up to make the countries leadership look stupid. Widely regarded as just being the nicest country on the planet, from france and england, they have taken the best of both, determination and grit but always keeping things polite. Trudeau is so right that the US fighting with its allies is exactly what the enemies of the US wants. The Russians are celebrating after Trump's attack on Zelensky and now Canada, Mexico and Europe. Every single country has huge tariffs against our country. All Trump wants is for them to pay us the same we pay them. Why any taxpayer would be upset is against it is beyond me.
