Deportation is a traumatic experience for anyone, imagine u left Ur home country, sold every assets. You settle in a new country learning the culture & laws. Getting acquainted with the climate. Taking into consideration that over time while abroad (be it Canada) things may have changed from the way u left in your home country. Imagine staying in Canada legally n some times immigration process could take a long time, say u stay for abt 4 or 5 years waiting. And boom ? u get news u have to go back. Maybe u started a family. I don't know.... I live in Montreal and I don't see recent newcomers as poor victims (I'm talking about most immigrants applying for refugee status) . \nWhy? \n1. In order to reach North America , one has to either cross the Atlantic or Pacific Ocean or cross huge chunks of land from Central or South America .... and that's really expensive. In Europe, since the coast of Africa is very close to Europe's , boats full of destitute and desperate people might be the norm. Not in North America. \n2. most of those guys arrive in North America looking for work \n3. most newcomers do possess smart phones and they know how to use them. They have their own network of friends and they're always on the lookout for good opportunities. \n4. most newcomers are very, very mobile. If they're having trouble finding work in Montreal and they need truck drivers somewhere else.... they'll go there . A new hospital needs aid personnel? They'll be there ready for hard work. \nThe positives ? They're probably working , making money and paying taxes. \nThe negative side? They're for the most part economic immigrants. I know I am going to take quite a bit of flack here... as long as the international students follows the rules, completes their study in whichever program, and does not commit criminal acts then the students should be allowed to stay in Canada. Presumably their education would grant them a decent paying job. Now any illegal migrants or if one of the international students fails to graduate or commits a crime I say deport! I am also against international students from working full time, they should only be permitted part time work until graduation.

But put that question aside for a moment. Was Sidhu trained, licensed, experienced and knowledgeable about driving a heavy vehicle on a highway across the Prairies in winter conditions? If so, where did he get that training and experience? Did he have the qualifications for a Class 1 Operator's License? Did he have prior experience? If so, where, when, and how much? \nGlobal News doesn't focus on what caused the deaths of the Humboldt Broncos - why? Accounts at the time suggested that Sidhu was not qualified, but that by some process he got the job anyway. Will Global be following up on that? Up to now, Global has not asked those questions. Sidhu was convicted for actions resulting in the Humboldt Broncos tragedy. He is not a Canadian citizen and the rules are clear: his criminal conviction means he's being deported. Unlike Global News, the victims I see in this story are the families of the Humboldt Broncos team, and the team members themselves. Global News want to change criminal to innocent victim. Nothing could be further from the truth. He was given a fair trial, convicted and sentenced. Now he is being deported.
