Moved to Toronto 9 years ago, now planning to move out of Ontario due to high crime, crazy drivers who love to tailgate and expensive compared to my birth place, Montreal Quebec. Back in the early 80's Toronto was the place to reside in, but no longer.

Immigration should be paused 100% until life of all CANADIANS is back to levels it once used to be ( 80s, 90s, early 2000s )...in fact it should be BETTER and MORE affordable. Canada is ruining the lives of its own citizens and giving hand outs to foreigners who often come here to use and abuse the systems CANADIANS pay toward. It is essentially treason - what has happened to Canada and Canadians by the Liberals and past holders of power.

i have friends in their early 20s who cant get jobs and friends with well paying jobs who cant get a place of their own and have to house-share with roommates. it is disheartening seeing international students in this video complain that they cant get housing or jobs, but neither can canadians. the housing market needs to catch up to the population and demand but cant if it is outpaced unfortunately, which is the case for many other countries we are seeing making changes to immigration because of the population boom (such as the uk). some of these campuses should really consider taking those millions and investing them into campus housing if they want students so much

Toronto subway and buses have always been dangerous this isn’t new. Early 2000s it wasn’t uncommon to have your wallet or cell stolen on the way home from school.\n\nThis is just anti immigration rhetoric. Work harder than them.

US family here. We were a big downhill skiing family, and often spent our winter vacations in the Laurentians. The exchange rate was great back in the 1990s and early 2000s. So when the time came to start looking at colleges, our daughter already associated Canada with fun, and fell in love with the University of Toronto. She was accepted. But before Canada would issue her a student visa, we had to provide evidence that we could pay full tuition, room, and board out of pocket. For all four years! They wanted an iron guarantee that she would never become a ‘ward of the state’ or consume public assistance services. We had to jump through soooo many logistical hoops for her to attend, it was exhausting to facilitate. But she graduated with honors in four years. All that time, the city was beautiful, clean, and vibrant, though not inexpensive. The St. George main campus, Queen’s Park, Bloor, Yongue Street, more. Everyone we met was friendly and respectful. We very rarely saw homeless and never tent communities. And crime seemed almost nonexistent except for bicycle thefts. Our daughter made many international friends and forged great relationships she carries to this day. So many wonderful memories. So it’s heartbreaking to hear how downhill the city has become. And the US is no different. It’s all in the politics, and neither Trudeau’s nor Biden’s policies are helping.

I lived in Toronto during 2 different periods. 1988-1991 (Leaside and Yonge/Davisville) and then in early 2011 to late 2013 (east Scarborough and then Bayview/Sheppard). Yes, the city has changed dramatically. Even from my 2013 move from there. Grossly overbuilt. the hockey team should be called the Toronto Condo Leafs. Services strained. Poor funding. Poor political leadership. And I won't even touch the hot button issues. I noticed changes in 2012-3 and the start of polarization. Toronto has immense wealth and also immense poverty as we see now. Then again, big cities all over North America have the same issue.

Local people learn lots of thing to do from the early age. Thats why people can save extra kharcha. Yesa nahi ki log nahi Milte hai, miltain hain, magar har choti choti bato k liye help lenge to pay karna bhi padega. Ye sab yaha ke anusar bahut mehenga padta hain.

Toronto is no paradise its expensive overlytaxed the people are miserable and selfish and is getting more and more violent the city hates god it keeps poor people down so you can't own a home it is rasist in passive way just too give impression like its not\n Free health care was in the past in toronto doctors in toronto just use your health card as a hustle you go in their office early in the morning sit whole day till evening then im lest than 5minutes you out then they try too experiment drugs on you and you still sick if not the drugs causes other problems. It's a city of lawlessness and only very wealthy people dont see the troubles most taxpayers face . Tax payers are taken advantage of by politicians in toronto now people cant afford housing . I wouldn't advise people to come here its gotten very difficult too live.

Toronto people complain that really all they get is two, true warm months of summer. June is sort of warm, but it can be cold at night and suffer cold snaps. Finally warm August comes to an end. While many Americans to the south struggle through an Indian summer of continued high heat into September and even early October, September brings the cold temperatures back to Canada, not yet freezing, mind you, but full autumn where the jackets have to come out and you don't see the welcome, warm, sunny sunshine and the ability to sit outdoors wearing thin clothing.

As a canadian i never thoughg of living anywhere else vanxouver is so beautiful. Growing up govrnmebt started cutting programs and services in schools ans public resources. And kept doing it. \n\nNow they are removinf beautiful homes to build ugly apartments no yards .\n\nThere is not enough public space. Everyone is moving to the city. We use to be able to go to the beach on a weekday in spring and there was no one. Now its packes. To get to the bathroom was almost a block long. The bathrooms are small. Goos for population we has in the early 90s. We need somethings 4x larger now. \n\nIm ok with new comers but if they create a new community in the rural areas. We have so many areas up north no one moves to.\n\nOr lots of space to build new communities up north, not deatroy the current communities that already exist. \n\nWith all the new apartments there is not enough space for cara, no parking and no room on public transportation.\n\nSimply, the city cannot support anymore people. Its unrealistic. \nI worked with a girk who shares a 1 bedroom apartment with 5 other people and she still paid 1500 a month for rent.\n\nThis will soon be like america - run down, extreme poverty & homelessness. The homelessness has gotten so extreme.\n\nWages havw increased maybe 3x since i was a kid, but pricea rose eveey year.\n\nAs a kid we paid $850 for 3 bedrooms. When i mo ed to my first apartment i paid $800 for 3 bdrms. My friend pays $3000 now for a 2 bedroom aptt.\n\nThere are more crimes more thefts now. My old houae was 600,000 that same house is now 1.5 mil. \n\nI make 2x what i made 3 yeara ago ans things are even more expensive than, i have less now vs when i was making less. Ill never affors a house i can barley affoes to save.\n\nIm certainly looking at gettinf out of here. This country is going to trash

I lived in Toronto for more than a decade and def thought it was a wonderful place esp through the 2000's and early 2010's. I noticed a huge downturn around 2013-2014. It was getting harder and harder for normal folks to get by even back then, and that people were becoming very frustrated. I ended up leaving in 2017 in order to have a higher quality of life elsewhere - tbh when I left I thought I was just getting old, and I wasn't cool anymore, but I moved to a different larger city and went back to having a great time, and the folks around me were happier. I can't say I'm surprised that it's gotten worse since.

I saw this as early as 2017 when I attented St. Lawrence College in Cornwall. The year I started, a new program had been created and just happened to be nearly completely seated by Indian students. There were literally 2 or 3 white people in the program, no joke. I also heard at the time that SLC had aggressive recruitment efforts in India.

I, know many people who migrated to Canada from , India in early 1956! they are all happy and settled well, they have their old age and family health care subsidies on apartments/ what more // many were highly educated too, to work in University status! others who had droppings into ... were not fully qualified/ or not good for Canada< this is the sad side of the coin too!!

My wife and I are horrified by what is going such as early exposure to beliefs (indoctrination), crime rates increase, and fascist leaders. We came to Canada about 10 years ago, and, now, with a growing family, we are thinking about leaving Canada too. We wish the best to you guys and your family and we love your determination....!!!

As a Canadian, born and raised, I am much more proud to be a Canadian than if I were to be a U.S. or U.K. citizen, given the way they are regarded in most of the word. I have travelled Europe extensively, Central America, as well as parts of SE Asia. \n\nCanada is indeed expensive and has become moreso because we too easily accept the rising prices, just so we can feel good being a Canadian. Tipping culture is ridiculous, even for bad service, many feel the need to tip 15% because of fear of being regarded as a cheapskate or avoiding offending the service provider. Companies should be paying their staff a better wage where 20%+ tips are not expected for every restaurant, cafe or delivery service. We're helping corporations make more profit by subsidizing their staffing expense. This isn't the case in most of the world. \n\nMy eyes were opened when I saw how you can live an equally good life at a third or less of the cost and I have grown open to the idea of living elsewhere once I have enough money to retire early (I'm talking around 55) and enjoy life without feeling cash-strapped. World class private medical care can be found for prices that are unbelievable and without the multiple appointments and wait times.\n\nI will always be a Canadian first, but there is room for a second citizenship or a backup plan should living in Canada become an impossible place to live or retire, unless you begin with a financial advantage. By no means am I poor, either. I got lucky with both real estate and stocks. Yet, I feel like I am working to just get by, while being taxed well beyond what I am getting in return.

i found toronto exciting at first ,back in early 1990s when I left the North to find mechanical work . Getting an entry level job took only 1 day. Finding a 1 bedroom apartment at $700 /mo took almost a month and that was a noisy cockroach infested highrise.\n3 different employers and skilled trades licenses later ,I was about to abandon Ontario for the oilfields in 2010 but got a job in a public utility downtown paying skilled wages , however by then , starter houses cost + 3/4 million , so I bought a reno gut out in Durham region and commute through the now horrible traffic. I'm selling high after i retire soon and taking my part pension to a lower tax jurisdiction not populated by Leftwing lunatic voters.

Counting days until my early retirement (still several years) to go back to Thailand, my home country. Quality of life in Canada used to be better when i came 25 years ago and things have gone downhill in recent years, especially after the pandemic. As a middle income class with good secured job, i feel the purchasing power has significantlyndiminishing and disposable income left to spend outside necessities is very low or none.

Yep! Left Canada during COVID because of the lock down laws. Permanently migrated officially early last year. Haven't looked back. Yes inflations everywhere but.. way better elsewhere

Very good objective video. I grew up in Toronto and had many great experiences in the city as well as commuting from west Toronto into the city for five years of high school (grade 9 to grade13). At an very early age I used to fearlessly ride buses, street cars and the subway system with no concerns of crime or potential violence in my mind. I wouldn't suggest this now for a young person unless you have 2 or 3 marshal arts black belts in your resume! The very same circumstances exist in Vancouver...quite possibly x's 2. My family and I now live a short distance east of Vancouver, but the city has changed about 10,000% since I lived there from the late '70's to the late '90's. I don't mind saying that I believe most of the problems/issues in Toronto, Vancouver and many other cities in Canada have been accentuated by poor policy decisions at all levels of government...municipal, provincial and federal...particularly since 2015 aka the J Trudeau era. I am not from North America. But I too think Toronto is a fine city. Once upon a time maybe back in the 1970s,80s 90s and early 2000s would have been one of the best cities in the world to live in but these days not anymore. Still looks the same like in the past but it has changed the high cost of living and other changes mean standard of living has dropped in the last 10 years. Still a nice city though but hopefully it will bounce back to how the city was in the distant past 2 decades ago and earlier.

Im spreading this videos and very much in favour of what you are doing and rationality behind. Im in my early 60s and endeavouring to convince my grown kids to migrate from UK/EU to either central asia, west asia or middle east for the sake of what you have described above.\nGood luck, Masha Allah, you will inspire many with this move.

Be living in Toronto for over 20 years. I feel it is getting worse every year.\nCanada is well known for high salary, good benifit and health card. That attracts immigrants from all over the world especially third world countries. \nBut the living cost is insane compare to early 2000s. If government can't handle the housing problem, they should not open border for more immigrants. More ppl squeezed in a city will get rental higher and higher. If you don't have a good job with decent pay, what gonna happen? Failing , that’s the right word. Canada keeps taking new immigrants ( mostly undocumented & refugees) over staying tourists. Not deporting. Lack of affordable housing/ apartments. Cost of living is too high & taxes. Minimum wage don’t match reality. Highly educated or degree holders are great & still don’t appreciate how lucky they are. No matter how successful & achieved a good job professionally when you retire, they put you back below poverty as senior. Max government pension is about $1,600 . How can you afford decently & independently to live alone. Not enough to rent a bachelor apartment. Government housing nowadays gives priorities to new / refugees / non documented immigrants than real average Canadian citizen who works hard for years. Long waiting lists for affordable housing Thank God & to myself alone , I started early & fought for my well deserved affordable housing after I retired otherwise, no way I cannot live decently as a senior like others who didn’t contribute much during their early years to the government. Give priority to our own Canadian citizen regardless of their ethnicity before giving to new undocumented immigrants. \n?❤️??

I came to Toronto when I was 11. 43 years later, my wife and I are getting out. We are even looking at getting out of Ontario, possibly Canada. It is impossible to afford to live here, and jobs aren't available if you don't look too diverse... there are tons of empty boarded up stores increasingly in the GTA and it reminds me of parts of Buffalo in the early 80s. It has changed too much for me. Thanks for sharing, we realize we are not alone.

There are some political scientists who have theorized that most of the conflicts of the late 20th and early 21st century will be between those who believe in pluralistic, democratic societies and those lean more towards religious fundamentalism. This certainly exemplifies that.

I was born in the UK but went to Canada as a young child with my emigrating parents in the early 1950’s. Later we emigrated to the US in 1963. I know I would not enjoy the cold winters of Canada at all anymore if I lived there. I lived in FL for 20 years which I enjoyed except for the hurricanes and rapidly increasing home insurance. I live in North Carolina now where the winter is very manageable. I hope you are able to find a place that meets most of the needs you want to find in a different environment. I am very sorry for what is happening in Gaza and like you I believe it is a terrible Genocide by the Israelis. I am not Muslim and do not belong to any organized religion. I just try to live my life in kindness and with love for others. I love nature, animals and our beautiful earth. I did my education here in Ontario. Back home in India, education was mostly about education but here it is all about having all the experiences like weed, addictions, breakup and promiscuity etc. Everyone talks about YOLO (You Only Live Once). If you are not going to party, clubbing and staying virgin as a guy, you will become a laughing stalk.\nEvery other day I meet people who says their parents were Muslims. How things change. I was a kid in Etobicoke in the early 60s and we used to go shopping in the Coverdale mall. Lots of cars in the car park had keys left in the ignition it was so crime free. A charity made little copies of licence plates for car key rings in case someone dropped them they could be given back. How sad it has all changed.

I lived and studied in Canada for 3 years in early 90. Canada was a wonderful country. I am sorry to hear that the society is deteriorating. In my country Indonesia, my students and other young peoples are more religious than when I young. \nI hope you find a country where you can feel at ease and raise your children according to Islam as you wish.

I am Canadian. I love my country. I wouldn't move anywhere else. We have our problems sure, but all counties do. Move somewhere else and trade one set of problems for another, maybe worse. In this modern age of social media, bellyaching and victim hood are all the rage. A bit of hard times and they want to quit. In the early 80s the interest rate was around 21%, that was much worse than today.

In my teens, early 20s (early 00's) i dreamed of emigrating to Canada and Toronto. It had beautiful nature, was clean, safe, nice people and a great standard of living. But seeing it now especially the big cities is really sad. Many countries have had major turn arounds (Colombia for instance) and hopefully Canada can get back to being a great place again. Australia has similar problems but I’d much rather live here than Canada. Hate cold weather, Canadas winters would be way too harsh for myself. I live in the state of Victoria. Collapsed in early September and was rushed to hospital. Zero waiting in emergency department. Excellent hospital care for free. Echocardiograms, cardiologist appointments again free. And drug prescriptions under $7 each. Personally I’ve no complaints living in Australia. Housing is expensive like Canada but I’m lucky not to have been exposed to super high rental costs

My family came to Canada 5 years ago. The main reason was because my dad had been busy setting up a branch of his European company here for two years. He wanted to launch this new branch and then retire early. Canada as he knew it was a good option for him to do this. We even had a house long before we came to Canada. And we now live on the west coast of Canada. \n \nFor us, the transition to feeling at home here wasn't particularly difficult. We also had enough experience of what it was like to live in other countries. Canada actually turned out to be a very easy country to quickly settle in. \n \nI've heard that Canadians can be reserved, but my personal experience is completely different. \n \nNevertheless, I got to know fellow immigrants who didn't find it easy to get started in Canada. In my experience, they were not very or only rudimentarily informed about what to expect in Canada. Their expectations were very high and they failed because of the reality of everyday Canadian life. \n \nOthers had similar experiences, but they persevered and ultimately arrived in Canada. Some of my fellow students are international students who are also considering leaving the country because Canada doesn't offer what they were hoping for as a better life here. \n \nThe reasons are really too individual in nature to really generalize. I think there should be a lot more help given to people who are struggling with their fate in Canada, because there are enough programs that they could take advantage of but that they never hear about. \n \nUltimately, it may help if someone just listens to them and perhaps has some advice, no matter how vague it may be. Those who finally arrive in Canada after years of a long odyssey and find this country something like home are, in my opinion, those who never gave up.
