Brampton was nice place to live back in the day. Now it is a shithole, infested with crime, violence and everything else. Toronto has been well upon its way there for more than a decade . I guess cultural enrichment and diversity struck again. \n\nThis what happens when a country no longer controls its borders and has no say as to who comes in and how many. Canadians are living those end results and consequences in real time. The thing is that too many of them voted for this and are too passive, apathetic or spineless to say or do anything. Which isn’t necessarily all that different from the rest of Western countries.\n\nPeople who don’t care about Canada, Canadian culture, values etc. Canada has just become a port of convenience, where people, like in this case from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka etc., land, and are more interested in “what can you give me”, “ what can you do for me”, no forethought of hey, maybe this is a two-way street where something is also expected from me to give back to the country and society that gave me an opportunity. If this is allowed to continue it will only get worse.

Singapore Airlines is an absolute treat to fly on. I gather in a microcosm, it is interesting to compare Air Canada and Singapore airline or all Nippon airways, with Air Canada. Air Canada is very expensive for a one or two hour flight, not so in Southeast Asia. Air Canada service is horrible, intimidating, and nasty. Singapore airlines and all Nippon airways, is exactly the opposite. Air Canada makes it very difficult for you too make claims on cancelled flights, broken luggage, and breaches of contract. Singapore airlines and other airlines in Southeast Asia go out of their way to advert a claim. The taxes on a ticket with Canada is horrendous, both indirect and direct taxes, in Singapore and all Nippon airways, much more reasonable. I think when you compare to airlines or multiple airlines against Air Canada, Air Canada is a microcosm of economics, workplace normality, and courteousness. Canadians will always say “I am sorry. “but let me assure you for somebody that is both, culturally Asian and Canadian, they don’t mean it a bit. The culture is more passive aggressive than anything else. Canadians are distant, and have a very, very remote education on their own country. I also have to give credit to the Singaporean pilots. There is usually the captain, first officer, and a second officer or two upfront. Excellent training for the up-and-coming first officers and captains. In Canada, of course we don’t do this. I feel at the safety upfront, especially in an IFR environment, is being sacrificed in Canada and North America. cost is everything, will safety seems like it has taken a backseat. Second officers should be mandatory on all Air Canada flights. This is not the case anymore. Also, on a visual approach to hit the button, I would definitely give the Singapore captain the edge. The hands and feet of an air. Canada pilot has deteriorated beyond belief where, if they don’t have their flight management system and auto pilot going in full tilt, they start sweating and second-guessing themselves. I’ve witnessed this many times.

The problem is not with immigrants, it is with the government's poor planning. The housing crisis began well before the recent uptick in immigration, and both major political parties are responsible for it. They under-invested in social housing and did not give enough tax incentives for developers to build new housing. They did this on purpose because the housing market was seen as the place where homeowners could build massive equity, and they did. For many years, Canadians were very pleased with this state of affairs. About a decade ago stories were running everywhere that the Canadian middle class was larger and wealthier than the American middle class. This was almost entirely due to the equity established in housing. But the prices just kept going up and up, there was not enough new housing built (on purpose, to maintain the value of Canadian real estate), and the economy needed new immigrants to fill thousands of jobs and to keep funding the health care system and other social benefits. So now we have a housing crunch, where even Canadians who own homes cannot sell them because they have nowhere to move to (everything around them is just as expensive), immigrants can't find housing, and the health care system is overloaded. It's a proper mess, but it's not as simple as saying the problem is with too many immigrants.

Programs end and change often. \n\nIn Canada definitely bargain and shop around for good phone plans. one idea is to get a pay as you go until “Black Friday” then every year or two when your good offer expires there will be many others. It’s the time with the best deals saving almost half. For instance, I have 50 gigs for $25 for two years from a large provider. Telephone companies are the one place where people must bargain and even ask for better deals as a must.\n\nThe people you see living in big houses, will have kids that can’t afford the same. This is because prices keep rising. The system protects the very rich, but will also drain the middle class often within 1-2 generations. Do not link your business to your personal finance, or creditors can take your home. Some not knowing this lose everything and rich people know better. \n\nPeople live until they are very old, so inheritance is pretty much meaningless to rely on, so no matter what your parents have you must hustle in life. \n\nI do think Canada can become what we want over time. Like a McDonald’s where maybe a popular cultural hang out was. \n\nPart of the problem is a lack of mixed income housing areas, so it’s hard to stay living where you grew up. Artists and musicians help make a city great, but many cannot afford to live here.\n\nFamilies and communities staying together means more support for those with young kids and older relatives when they need help. Yet how is this possible in a city that is always pushing out lower income people when wealthier people desire the area. \n\nIn Toronto, every time you move you have to take what is available and that might mean moving an hour away from everyone you know. This weakens communities. Plus, if you live too far from your work you will have no time to socialize for most the week due to travel time. \n\nI think those who grew up in Toronto do have a certain culture of acceptance with others from many cultures, because your friends at school were from all over. But with new migrants sometimes it isn’t until the second generation that their social circles get diverse. This can be isolating and it’s even isolating as those from Toronto eventually leave dreaming of staying in one spot and not forced to move constantly when a landlord investor sells every house you move into. \n\n\nToronto really needs to protect affordability of housing for at least some housing in every section so that people can save money if they live in the city, and not have to leave their communities and be far from their friends and family. \n\notherwise eventually people get sick of the hustle and it’s too tiring to travel 1+ hrs each way to visit someone during Monday to Friday. \n\n20 years ago any professional could at least buy a condo. Not today. There is too much competition now and investors are allowed to buy up all the most affordable housing that once was a pathway to owning a home. \n\nRich policy makers got greedy and destroyed canada and hopefully diversity in leadership will help make Canada better. But they perhaps people knew to Canada can reject this lonely structure and help us rebuild Toronto into an amazing place. \n\nWe need to make sure everyone can afford housing with 30% of their income. I think everyone is missing the point here. I Don’t support Israel’s retaliation, but I wondered why the Arab world has not taken in a single refugee. Poland didn’t condone Russia’s attack by taking in hundreds of thousands Ukrainian refugees. If Egypt, jordan, Quatar, to name the immediate Arab Neighbors would rally together to get the women and children out of harms way, surely the outcome would be better for these poor people. \n\nSadly this is not the case and it appears as though this conflict will never find a solution, as long as both parties are not able to set aside their millennia aged quarrel, acknowledge each other’s deep roots and belonging to the same land, and accept that they both come from the exact same bloodline. The exact same seed of a man named Abraham. Both parties need not to like or even tolerate each other, but they both need to respect each other’s right to co exist within that space. This resulted in us usually throwing down as one of us, feeling like we may be on the losing end of any given task, would just get frustrated, and start soccer punching the other. And my cousin and I from the time were off the diary to the day we both matured, would THROW down. We would literally just start throwing punches at each other, it was honestly impressive how we both would manage to land equal amount of hits to look like literal bloody hell, and guess what, even those fights became competition as even our dads would throw money with the others pitching for their favourite. Fortunately, our moms, the only adults in the our community, looking back, people would just pick a side and watch as go at each other, than pull us off each other, would come stomping out of the house grab each one of us by our ears, gives us a good smack in the back our heads and sit us down, look each one of us straight in the eye, and say something like, “cut it out, you two are family, more brothers than cousins” they would demand that we both go hug it out, have a bath, if we managed to do that peacefully then we were allowed to partake in dessert that evening or allowed to stay up a little later watching tv, or whatever . My point with this overtly personal analogy is that both the Palestinian and the Israeli sides should be dragged off each there by their figurative ears pulled, sat down, scolded and reminded of their ancestrial ties to each other and to the very same land. \n\nBe honest with yourselves, some how amongst all this hate, vitriol, unnecessary death of innocent lives, are you, and those you rally with be truly ok with your opposing side coexisting harmoniously beside each other? If the answer to this question is no, the other side can not have any claim to this land and needs to be removed to god knows where, if not off the earth all together then it’s your people, not mine, that are doomed. We’ll still be chilling in North America, horrified at the unfolding events but chilling nonetheless. Although it somehow claims to not be doing so, the actions of Israel demonstrate a gruelling callousness towards Palestinian life or right to life, and the staunch calls of the constant pro Palestine protests, calling for the eradication of Israel, none absent of a deep, hate and disgust towards the Jewish people. Both are in need of serious internal reform. Honestly as a complete outsider, SHAME ON BOTH OF YOU. I don’t care who started it, or who said or did what, at this point it is imperil that this end immediately. And as an outsider, I think it’s is important that pressure be applied to both sides to put their weapons down. I don’t recall the last time anyone even mention the Israeli hostages, putting any pressure on Hamas to do the one thing that would definitely appease the Israelis. In the same breathe, Israel needs to be further pressured to stop being so trigger happy and lay off of it. \n\nI can only hope, I guess. Some provinces are better. And your luck through out your life. If you own your home live in a cheap area own your vehicle and live close to everything and have a pension or multiple then yes you can retire here and enjoy your retirement. The more of these these that you do not have... the less enjoyable your retirement will be. Some other countries, for instance those who have let's say 25 to 1 currency. Will be. Alot easier to live an enjoyable retirement. Here in this country. I know people who are having a very very hard time even affording food each month because if there circumstance. Now it's not always thus difficult. But I would say 50 % of people who ate retired are in this boat. The other 50% have had a luckier life and probably have a pension and own their home and vehicle.

When a student arrives in Canada they are expected to have enough money to tide them over for the duration of their studies. Twenty hours a week of employment is permitted. Please consider everything before saying how hard life is when you've got to study, submit assignments on time and keep your grades up. Students in the US have been doing this from a very long time. Stop complaining and start studying.

As someone from Toronto, mostly everything is true. So many homeless and drug addicts downtown. So many immigrants and people from other cultures it’s like they are taking over. A very nice way of saying no. Look at the history of the people who call themselves Palestinians and their relationships with Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt and Israel. As someone who lived in Quebec for 8 years, I can say that Canada has an undeservedly good image abroad. It's a trap for immigrants, where they suck out all their savings and energy. In reality, it's not even a state, it's a corporation where monopolies and associated corrupt politicians rule the roost. Lack of preventive healthcare, huge taxes, unbelievably high prices compared to incomes for everything from food to housing, outdated infrastructure... I hope to find the ways to leave here soon.

Why would you say the “cost of healthcare in Canada is higher than in Europe” when it’s literally paid-for by our taxes? I mean it doesn’t cover everything (same as UK) like doesn’t cover pharmaceuticals, physio, hearing aids, or dental for most people (they’re changing that slowly thanks to our socialist party that’s been keeping the libs in line), but it’s ridiculous to say it’s costly since for most tax payers it’s basically free. Duh.. it doesn’t work perfectly b/c they are not funded enough b/c rich don’t pay enough taxes, but it suffices. IRCC is scam. They process some application in a month or two. And some application in 2-3 years. I have applied in May, 2023 and still haven't been invited for knowledge test yet. Their website says, it is 'normally' sent to applicants within 1-2 week after AOR. If we call IRCC, they give the routine answer, 'everything looks fine. Your application is within the estimated timeline, so we can not provide any further information on your file'. I have the transport Canada clearance since I am working in the biggest airport in the country. I have Firearm licence, so my background was already been checked by RCMP, I don't know why my background check will take so long with citizenship application. They are full of bogus as they really don't have any logic in their SOP.

Let me say it, u didn't do ur research before moving abroad, abroad life is not for lazy ppl who don't want to work on their own. Didn't u know how was the life abroad wen u have ur relatives there. And the positions u r saying are voluntary for parents, it's not a job,it's called lunch duty. You didn't try to find how life, society is there. Who asked u to hire a basement, looks like that u weren't financially ok therefore u had to hire a basement. Ppl have nice houses there. Madam, ur qualification was not suitable to get a job in canada if u r in teaching. Ur english has to be iltes level. I have relatives who are in IT and have very good salary, live in big houses. Speaking as someone living in South Vancouver, here are two rules I live by:\n\n1) Never leave your bike outside for extended periods of time. Especially closer to a downtown area because it will get stolen. If thieves can't get through your lock, they'll just strip the bike everything that isn't locked down. It's actually very common to see just a bike frame locked to something while missing every other part. \n\n2) Don't go to downtown Vancouver as it's drug city. It's the one downtown area in metro Vancouver that I say has zero redeeming factors. All the other neighbouring cities are nice, with Richmond in my opinion being the best of the bunch, but downtown Vancouver? It's the closest experience to Seattle in Canada that you'll find.

let's be honest as an international student I am in awe of how some internationals can study in Canada when they can't even speak English properly .. when I came here I needed to pass IELTS and get a band 7 for everything all my documents and transcripts were directly sent from the official email of my institution. I need to pass an exam before enrolling for my course, I have criminal, abuse registry, and child registry checks in my country and even when I am in Canada. Did all the immunizations needed and abide by their law i need to submit all these documents every 6 months access. to the policy of the program I am doing. And as an international remember you are coming to Canada they have their own culture so you need to respect and adjust to it, not Canada adjusting to you... even though Canada is diverse they have its own rules so yes adapt to the place where you are. And to them blaming the agency you the people who are using them knew exactly what they were getting into now you are complaining I did all my applications through DIY as IRCC is a direct applicant why need agents for application. Ircc should also question why a person needs an agent to process their applications. If they can't understand basic instruction and basic legal matters would you think those students will be able to survive the education system here in Canada? let's be real a lot of students are taking short-term courses, short like 8 months, and yes to get PR (I wouldn't lie cause that would be hypocrisy all international students have that aim, and if you say no just stay in your country). Now this a lesson to IRCC that they really need to make a thorough background before offering a PR permit ..and please when you are in public speak English respect the people around you... and don't speak too loud in your language when you are in working places.. uphold professionalism again remember you are in Canada a french English speaking country. well said. If you do not like the culture and values of a place, no hard feelings, if you can afford to leave, you should indeed live in a place that makes you happy. The western liberal democracy provides everything with freedom of choice and that is not something that many orthodox muslim families want - they not only want Islamic values and lifestyle, they want others around them to live these too. This is incompatible and it is excellent that this family is choosing to be where they will truly be happy. this needs courage and conviction. I'm only halfway through but feel I need to comment and well I'm not exactly a new Canadian. But I was born the but grew up in New Zealand. And well why not . I moved over there in 2014 with full rights as a citizen. My trade wasn't recognised. Canada has its own rules about everything. You need to have training to pour drinks in a bar wtf.! But yea I came wanting a better life and well thankfully I wound up in Calgary so eventually I had the money to leave. And come home where know having seen the Canadian shit show I'm killing it here. I grew up in Toronto Canada. It is so sad to say but Canada needs to pivot because it is on a very negative trajectory. I finally had enough and the events that unfolded during the pandemic and where our current government is going made me make up my mind. I sold everything and moved to SE Asia. It's not paradise but my parents left their country to seek better and I'm doing the same.
