All joking aside, Canada has been able to form a symbiotic relationship of mutual benefit with the United States since even before NAFTA 1. But.......... right now it is almost like a 51st state and I do not mean that in a joking way. US states are always competing with each other, but what prevents things like, oh say the American Civil war from happening is the Federal apparatus keeps them in line for the good of the empire as a whole. \n\n If Canada is like a 51st state, then it is competing with the other 50 states in a way that all 50 of them are going to get upset about. So either the states complain, or you treat Canada as an economic competitor. Mexico being behind the United States and Canada is what makes it a good candidate for a symbiotic relationship. For all its problems, Mexico has a Christian population (with some indigenous traits) that goes well with America. Their nations different economic status means we can support them and they can support us doing different things for countries of different development stages.\n\nCanada being so similar to the United States will want that as well and will never outbid the United States. Again this is seen as a hostile economic competitor. \n\nIts not Canada or Americas fault. After 2007 and the lies about fanny and Freddie, leman bros, mortgage backed security's, and a cash shortage that was not real. How was it real if the offshore exchanges did nothing? 2007 was not financial in origin it was our global monetary system seizing up. Retaliation tariffs. That's a ridiculous idea. You don't win a tariff war when you're the country that has a trade surplus. In 2023, Canada imported approximately $431.2 billion worth of goods from the United States, while the United States imported approximately $354.3 billion worth of goods from Canada. That's going to hurt Canada a whole lot more than it'll hurt us.

Canada should not respond with tariffs. That will just increase prices for Canadians. They should look for other markets.\nTrump promised to lower prices. This is a direct move to increase them! Trump and his millionaires won't be hurt by this. Only the millions of regular people that voted for him will suffer. This is a perfect example of how politicians go to war and the citizens pay with their blood. ?

We as Americans can make the drug war go away. Just stop buying fentanyl and other poisonous substances. It’s supply and demand; if there is money to be made by fulfilling a demand, someone will provide. Don’t blame Canada or Mexico or China for our fentanyl crisis. We must support our citizens with the needed assistance to overcome addiction and offer assistance to prevent those not yet involved with fentanyl.

Canada will give concessions at some point. Like regular war, in a trade war everyone is hurt. But Canada will go into a recession unless it appeases America. And America can do this because Canada has the better deal currently.
